1. GARHWAL DELIGHT !!
Our tour villages are usually perched at an elevation of 1,800 meters amidst the lush
green Himalayan Mountains in the state of Uttarakhand. These are less known village
which offers 360-degree view of Himalayan range along with beautiful hiking trails.
The villages usually have a population of approximately 500-1200 people. The main
economies of these villages is Agriculture. People are simply welcoming and
hospitable. The moment you arrive, they welcome you as the member of the local
community. A relatively simple life is lived in the mountains but they are rich in love
and happiness. You will be honored to be invited to so many homes where you will be
offered more tea then you can drink and learn about each of the different families.

Itinerary highlights:
• Scenic hiking trial going through waterfall and streams.
• Introduction with the local villagers, life and the local children over the cup of
tea and snacks.
• Different workshops with the local children.
• Fun-filled activities i.e. farming, culinary lessons in pahadi cooking, camping
in the wilderness.

2. Day-By-Day Experiences
Day 01: Arrive at Dehradun airport/Railway station and transfer to the
village
Pick up from Dehradun Airport and head towards the Village enjoying the scenic views
on the way. Agora village is nestled between the majestic Himalayan ranges and
serves as a base camp to Doditaal trek/Dyara bugyaal trek too. Bugyal here means
meadows. Reach the home stay and get welcomed by our lovely home stay owners in
a tradition way.
Day 02: Introduction day: Village tour which consists of introduction with the home
stay owner, with the local community members and our lovely children. Learn about
the local people, culture, language, economy, farming methods etc (make sure to
take down the notes). Volunteer teaching local children basic English, Maths, Science,
Computers etc or you can also come up with some workshops for them. The timings
would be 10:00- 12:00 am and from 4:00-6:00 pm every day.
Day 03: Participate in the community kitchen: Continue your volunteering
program for the day. After breakfast resume your volunteering tasks with the local
children (10:00-12:00am). In the second session (4:00-6:00 pm) you will be learning
about local Garhwali delicacies indigenous to the local community only. The culinary
class will commence at 4:00 pm and would last till 6:00pm. Share the love of your
newly learnt culinary skills (dinner) in the form of a feast with other community
members in the evening time.
Day 04: The farming day: Today you will have to wake up bit early in order to join
the local home stay owner’s family in farming activities which will mainly consist of
ploughing the field, weeding, pruning et. By 7:30 am return back to the home stay for
breakfast and other activities as usual.
Day 05: Camping day: Get your gears on for an easy/medium level trek to a
beautiful spot (apprx. 15-20 km away from the home stay) to spend your night in the
mesmerizing starlit sky. Help in setting up the camps, collect fire-wood for cooking
and bon-fire. Enjoy your meals while listening to the music along with bonfire.
Day 06: The cultural night: This day is would be little challenging owing to the local
dance steps (Taandi) to be mastered☺ The dancing practice session would begin from
10:00am- 12:00am and later at 4:00-6:00 pm. Get dressed in the local attire and
show your moves on the dance floor i.e. the courtyard of the home stay along with
music and bonfire.
Day 06: Farewell day: Bid adieu to your beloved community members and home
stay owners in an emotionally charged atmosphere. Share your wonderful memories
by clicking group pictures. After the farewell party transfer to Dehradun
airport/railway station. Life is a journey, travel it well. It is not how it ends that
matters, but the journey it takes to get there.

4. FAQ’s
• How far is the village from Rishikesh/Dehradun?
The village is approximately 170 km away and from
Rishikesh/Dehradun it would take 6-7 hours approximately to reach
to the village.
• What If I want to travel on my own?
Yes, you can either reach by your own means or you can ask us to
arrange the transportation facility. In either ways we will help you to
reach us.
• Can I opt for lesser days?
This is an experiential tour and any lesser days will result in missing
out on fun-filled learning activities. So, it is advisable to opt for the
complete tour package.
• Can the tour package be customized in any regards?
Yes, customization will entirely depend on the number of people
opting to participate in the tour.
• What are the dos and don’ts?
Respectful towards the local community, its people and culture is the
rule of the thumb. Be nice to all alike. Dress modestly. Try not to
smoke or drink publicly. Follow the village schedule as per the
season.
• What is the accommodation like?
Accommodation would be provided in a local home stay on a sharing
basis. The accommodation is simple yet comfortable throughout any
season.
• What would be meals like?
The meals would be majorly a blend of local Garhwali and north
Indian food such as paranthas, chapatti( wheat or millets one),
vegetables, curd, local sauce, pickles, rice, daal(lentils), local
dessert. Beverages would be tea (chai) or coffee. A certain number
of days you could also have continental breakfast. You can bring your
own carbonated drinks or ask us to provide you one on an extra cost.
• Is alcohol and non-vegetarian food allowed?
Yes, Non-vegetarian food would be provided but alcohol is subject to
your own discretion, keeping in the view the right time, place and
surrounding.
• Can I smoke weed?
No. You might encounter locals smoking hash or weed but we strictly
advise you to refrain from such activity.
What is Immunization and medication recommended before arriving in the
‘Garhwal Himalayas?
It’s very important to get yourself vaccinated or immunized as per traveling
advisories. Vaccination or advisories related to covid-19 are mandatory as
per Indian government rules and regulations.
What to bring while participating in the projects?
It’s advisable to bring water bottles, appropriate clothes, a towel, toiletries,
toilet papers, photos of your family and home, sun cream, camera, mosquito
repellent and others. However this is just a precaution as the water is a
natural source water, the food is hygienically cooked and the air is pure. Do
not bring weapons of any kind, satellite phone, or any illegal substances as it
could lead to trouble for everyone.
What is the Safety for women/girls and in general at the location site?
Usually, the people in the Himalayas are very respectful and welcoming and
all of our previous female travelers had a wonderful time, without
encountering any safety-related issue. But you need to be sensible as far as
involvement with men is concerned. Avoid talking to a drunken man and
don't except invitation from people you don't know. Wear clothes which
cover your body.
Is there any Staff support while my volunteering duration?
The coordinators are based at the project site only and available 24*7, in
person or by phone.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
If you are a vegan or allergic to something please inform us in advance so
that we can make arrangements accordingly.
Can I have Internet access/mobile phone?
You can access the internet at our project sites using an Indian sim card.
There is 4G coverage at the location site.
How can I pay the application fees/ program fees? Do you have any
cancellation policy?

Terms and conditions
• The tour itinerary is subject to the last minute change prior to your
notice as per the prevailing situation.
• Submission of the tour fees would imply that you have read all of
the information made available to you and, you agree to the aim of
the tour, activities, accommodation, costs, and terms of
participation.
• You agree that you respect the policies of the community and the
natural rules of the host family in which you are staying.
• You are provided mostly with fresh homemade Indian food three
meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The accommodation and
meals provided at the house will be basic. All the services offered in
the program are budgeted base and we need to pay for several
other things for the program and to run organization.
• If you are not happy by the accommodation facility, food, host
family members or the location you must make arrangements at
your own personal expense. No portion of the program fees will be
refunded. You can find easily by your own or we will also help you in
to find another accommodation according to your needs.
• Any emotional/physical mishap, accident or untoward incident have
no liability with Garhwal Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC
private ltd and no claim of financial or compensation of any other
nature will be entertained.
• By agreeing to the terms and conditions you agree that Garhwal
Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private ltd can use your
photos, videos and written feedback from the project to post on its
website or in any other web domains for the promotion of volunteer
programs.
• The tour fees do not cover any insurance and liability of you. It is
your sole responsibility to arrange for such insurance and liability
coverage in such amounts as you deem adequate or necessary. You
may need during the tour coverage for: light work; the cost of
cancellation of the placement that you could do; the cost of
assistance including repatriation in the event of accident or illness;
legal liability and expenses; lost baggage; medical expenses;
kidnapping; death, liability arising due to personal injury. You are
also solely responsible for maintaining any necessary insurance
documents with you as may be needed to prove any insurance
coverage available to you. The organization do not take any
responsibility for any kind of accident/disease – Attack by wild
animals or any street animals with you while working/staying in the
program. We will not be liable for any damages resulting from your
failure to buy appropriate insurance.

6. • Garhwal Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private ltd will not be
responsible for your any kind of Lost/Theft of money, baggage and
personal things during the program. Please take care of your things
by your own at the accommodation, home stay site, in the modes of
transportation or travel by your own. Organization will not pay for
your any lost or theft.
• Cancellation and Refund Policy: Deposit Fees: – Once you
confirm us your availability to join by making the deposit fee
payment it will not be refunded under any circumstance. Refund of
program fee Cancellation of volunteer program by client: – Garhwal
Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private ltd. Incurs a lot of
charges in order to provide placement for their volunteers. If
someone cancels the program after payment of program fee 60 days
prior to departure, we would refund 70% of the program fee only.
Cancellation 30 days prior to start date, the client would be refunded
with 50% of the program fee only & any cancellation done with 30
days of the program start date, the client will NOT receive any
refund whatsoever. Under any circumstances the total program fee
will not be refunded to the client. Also, if the volunteer once reaches
here to do his/her signed up program and if he/she does his/her
program for a day and if he/she expresses his/her inability to do the
program for remaining period, or not happy by the program no
portion amount of the fee once deposited will be refunded. Kindly
ensure yourself before joining the tour. Cancellation by Garhwal
Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private ltd: – In case Garhwal
Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private ltd cancels the
volunteer program due to unavoidable and unforeseen
circumstances, will refund the program fee calculated on a pro-rata
basis for the remaining period of the program declared to be
cancelled excluding 5% (five percent) bank charges. Payment of
refunds: – Garhwal Himalayas voluntours and travels OPC private
ltd. will refund the applicable refund amount to the client within 100
(one hundred) days of confirmation of cancellation.
• Immediate Termination of Agreement by Garhwal Himalayas
voluntours and travels OPC private ltd. If Garhwal Himalayas
voluntours and travels OPC private ltd. discovers that you are
involved in any illegal activities or convicted of any criminal activities
before or during the project period. We cannot admit you without
depositing the complete program fee. The rooms are shared by the
volunteers with the same gender, group, couple or your family
members which are doing the program with you. If you don’t shared
your room with other volunteer you will terminate from the program
on immediate basis. If it is found that your behavior is threatening or
unacceptable to the society or anyone involved with the project
based on the judgment of the project staff and/or program
coordinator. Any information provided by you to VWI at the time of
enrollment is found to be incorrect or false information about your
medical or mental health conditions. If it is found that you are using
drugs or intoxicating material during the course of the project. If you
are found to be engaged in sexual behavior while you stay in the
volunteers’ home/host family. If we find that you are not following
the rules regulations & terms condition of the tour. You must need to
respect & understand that you are in a village. If you are found to
disrespect the image of the organization/host family members/
facilities getting in the village and making propaganda against the
organization. In case the agreement is terminated due to volunteers’
involvement in any of the above activities, he/they will not be entitled
to continue the tour with Garhwal Himalayas voluntours and travels
OPC private ltd.
• The Parties agree to first mediate any disputes or claims between
them in good faith and resolve the disputes amicably and share the
cost of mediation equally. In the event that mediation fails, any
claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement shall be settled by
Arbitration in accordance with the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation
Act, 1996. All hearings will be held in High Court of Uttrakhand,
Mallital, Nainital, Uttarakhand -263002 and shall be conducted in
English. The parties shall each appoint an arbitrator who shall then
appoint a sole arbitrator to preside over the Arbitration proceedings.
ii) This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance
with the laws of India. The adjudication of any dispute will be the
exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of High Court of Uttrakhand,
Mallital, Nainital, Uttarakhand -263002.
