2. The Bards
uneet Puri was hooked to a life in the outdoors ever
since her father took her rock climbing at the age of 5.
Trekking and climbing have been a passion with her
and she has been trekking the Uttarakhand Himalayas since her
school days. She has also trekked in Nepal. She is something of
a dare devil and to challenge herself she often treks solo.
G
hashi Bahuguna has been an avid trekker and climber
most of her life. She is almost a mountain goat, having
grown up in a Kamouni Village and having spent her
childhood in the arms of the mountains. She met Anusha and
Guneet on an expedition in the Himalayas. She too treks solo or
Alpine style when the mood takes her. She is also a trained
rescuer.
S
nusha Subramanian, an award winning journalist,
started her trekking career in the Sayadri ranges at
the tender age of 7 and had covered most of it by the
time she reached her teens. She started walking the Himalayas in
2006 and has trekked across all 5 Himalayan states. She has also
trekked extensively abroad.

3. The Bohemian
Way
ur philosophy with regards to BA is simple, "of the
mountains, for the mountains and by the mountains".
We view the mountains as our home and as we do what
we do best here, climb and trek, we also aim to give back to our
home by providing a sustainable economic scenario to its
residents.
As far as possible we try to provide our clients a glimpse into the
lives of the mountain folk, their culture and traditions with home
stays along our trek routes.
Our vision for the years to come includes the promotion of women
in the sport of mountaineering both as team leaders and guides.
We also hope to lead by example by having stricter and more
stringent safety and environmental guidelines implemented in the
Himalayas.

Itinerary
5. The Trek
Malla – Silla – Silla Channi
The trail from Malla to Silla is very well defined and a gradual, easy walk. It is the main
access route used by the villagers of both Silla and Jarao to get to the road head at Malla. On
the way we stop for tea, just short of Silla at the home of a lovely family.
The path from Silla to Silla Channi is a bit steep, however, one hardly registers it as the
complete route is through a dense deciduous forest. There is almost always pin drop silence
on the path and the only sounds that are heard are those of the forest whispering.
Silla Channni is a clearning almost half way between Malla and Kush Kalyan. It is a spot used
by the villagers to break for the night when they are taking their cattle for grazing to the
Kush Kalyan Bugyal.
Silla Channi – Kush Kalyan
As we start our ascent towards Kush Kalyan from the Silla Channi campsite the forest with its
whispers follows us till half way between here and Kush Kalyan. The same steepish trail
continues till we hit the beginning of the bugyal. The trail flattens out considerably once we
leave the forest behind us and turns into lush green meadows with spectacular views of the
Himalayan range to our left.
6. Kush Kalyan – Kyari Khal – Pari Tal – Sahastra Tal
The gradient of the route from Kush Kalyan to Sahastra Tal is quite similar the small
differences being the gain in altitude from camp to camp and the views on the way,
where the mountains seem to get closer with each step.
The trail continues through the bugyal and the way is dotted with little waterfalls and
quite a few quaint little lakes all the way up to Sahastra Tal. The path ascends and
descends regularly as is the norm in any bugyal, however, the ascent normally out
weighs the descent as one slowly climbs up to 5000 meters.
