3. The logo above, is that of Brand-Haiti, an organization that I am currently volunteering
with to help develop a business plan and new revenue streams. BrandHaiti is a non-
profit business marketing organization comprised of young professionals and students
in the U.S. and Haiti that work to re-brand Haiti’s negative image by highlighting the
country’s strengths and comparative advantages to foster pro-Haitian business
investment and revitalize a non-exploitative economy. (www.Brand-Haiti.org)

4. Ghana Gold: A Corporate Social
Responsibility Tour
In 2009, myself and 10 other
students traveled to Ghana to learn
about the social and politician
implications of gold mining. It
included visits to AngloGold Ashanti
mine, Galamsey, an illegal mining
site (pictured at right), Ghanaian
Parliament and a regional micro-
finance lender.
However, the most awe-inspiring
part of the trip was meeting with
the Galamsey miners who traversed
abandoned gold mining shafts in
search of gold.

5. Kwabeng, Ghana - This photo was taken after meeting with the SinapiAba Trust Lenders whom had
successfully repaid their weekly loan fees. The boy in the foreground was emulating the smile he saw on our
faces as we boarded our bus to return back to Accra. And despite the photographs the media uses to depict
Sub-Saharan Africa, this one reminds me that all people deserve their stories to be told with dignity and
respect.

6. The New Jersey Shore - During Memorial Day Weekend 2011 I visited a local beach with my
family and was truly inspired by a water vendor’s ingenuity with the device he built in order to
transport his water cooler and sell to thirsty beachgoers.

7. New Orleans, LA – Exploring the French Quarter area of New Orleans it easy to forget that the
region has been forever changed by Hurricane Katrina, The Oil Spill of 2010 and and economic
recession but walking by the Oil Spill Response Claims Center was a subtle reminder that the
area is still healing and rebuilding itself after so much damage.

8. A Lot to Grow - For the past year I have volunteered my photography skills to document the
progress of the A Lot to Grow Community Garden. Started in 2010, the Community Garden is a
volunteer run garden that grows pesticide-free vegetables and herbs to be donated to local soup
kitchen and food pantries.
