2. • Teaching approach: based on the Natural Approach (Stephen Krashen) and
the PPP method. The students are encouraged to speak English naturally,
without being forced to do it.
• Materials and resources: computer, projector and screen, internet
connection, speakers, animal flashcards in a PowerPoint presentation, small
cards with the names and pictures of the animals, sheets of paper.
• Pedagogical use of ICT in class: the students watch one video to introduce
the topic of the lesson and make revision. Then, they look at a PowerPoint
presentation about real wild animals. Finally, they play an interactive online
game for finding and counting wild animals.
• Seating arrangement: first, the students sit on the floor as a horseshoe and
watch the videos and flashcards. Then, they sit down at the table to draw and
play a game. In the end, they stand up to dance the goodbye song.
• Possible problems / difficulties and possible solutions during the class:
in case there wasn´t internet connection, I would download the video before
the class. If it didn´t work, I would sing and use the small cards to present the
animals.
The students may get distracted or not pay attention at some point in the
class. If that happened, I would say: ´1, 2, 3, eyes on me!´
• Potential problems students may have with the language: the students
may not understand one of the words. In that case, I would ask several
students different questions until everybody understands. If someone seemed
not to understand, I would encourage the students to help him or her.
• Assessment: what will be assessed and how: the students singing the
song is a form of assessment as well as the final speaking activity, when the
students are to talk about the animals.
ROUTINE (5´)
Purpose: to engage students, to make them focus on the lesson and to revise
language structures.
Students listen to the following song:
The teacher says: ´Hello everyone! Let´s sing a hello song! (and she calls all the
names of the children)
Hello, Renata (example)
Hello, Renata
How are you?
How are you?
Fine, so-so or bad?
3. WARM UP: (5´)
Purpose: to prepare the students for the lesson, to revise it´s a…
The students watch the video and find the animals. Before the video says the name
of animal, the teacher says:
T: What is it? ´It´s a..´ … and the name of the animal.

See the animals here today
They love to talk and they love to play
They're having such fun they're sure to stay
But what do the animals say?
Order: Lion, Tiger, Snake, Frog, Elephant, Bird, Monkey, Parrot, Bee
http://www.nurserytracks.com/
Transition: The teacher says: we are going to look at some animals in the jungle,
OK? (enthusiastically) and the children answer yes!
PRESENTATION: (5´)
Purpose: to continue showing the students the new contents to learn, to introduce
THEY ARE and to guide the students into practice.
The students look at a PowerPoint presentation about animals, and the teacher
says: it´s a.. when there´s only one animal and they are… when there are more of
them, and the number of animals. They count together.
T: Let´s look at some REAL animals! What is it? (the students say: It´s a lion) Yes! It
´s ONE lion! (and the same with the bear, monkey, hippo, bird tiger and snake) What
are they? (the students say: giraffes) Yes! They are ONE, TWO giraffes! And what
are they? (they´ll probably say canguros) Kangaroos! They are ONE, TWO
kangaroos! what are they? (students say cocodrilos) Crocodiles! They are ONE,
TWO, THREE crocodiles! What are they? (zebras!) Yes! They are ONE, TWO,
THREE, FOUR zebras! What are they? (elephants!) Fantastic! They are ONE, TWO,
THREE, FOUR, FIVE elephants!
4. DEVELOPMENT (10´)
Purpose: for the students to practise the new items presented in the class.
The students draw the animals the teacher says in a picture dictation activity. Before
the activity, the teacher brings some sheets of paper and puts them on the table, as
well as the students´ pencil cases. (5´)
T: You are going to draw animals! Sit down. Now, draw 1 lion! Great! Now, 2 hippos!
Fantastic. Next, 3 monkeys! Excellent! Now 4 crocodiles! Woww!! Finally, 5 snakes
(scared voice). Wonderful!
The students play a short game in which they have to say the names of the animals,
find them and count them: (5´)
T: we´re going to play a game about animals! Look! (and they follow the instructions
in the video)
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/preschool/animals/jungle/animaljunglefindcountgame.htm
Transition: The teacher says: Excellent! Now, let´s look at the poster of the jungle.
CLOSURE (5´)
Purpose: to check the students´ understanding of the topic deal in the class.
The students look at their poster they created the previous class and say: they are …
and the number and names of the animals.
T: Look! How many LIONS are there? 1? Let´s find the lions! (and so on with the rest
of the animals)
Now, it´s time to say goodbye! Let´s sing!
The students love singing this song with their teacher: (different students choose the
way they say goodbye, like raising their arms, jumping, and so on, they take turns
and the teacher points at the next student)
This is the way we say goodbye, we say goodbye, we say goodbye
This is the way we say goodbye, we say goodbye to you
5. HOMEWORK: The teacher will send an email to the parents in order to tell them
about the videos and the topics the students have worked with.
Querida familia:
Hoy aprendimos a decir nuevos nombres de animales de la selva en singular y en plural y a
contarlos hasta cinco en inglés. Miramos un nuevo video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5pSL83c1ck
Practicamos como decir los nombres de los animales en inglés, dibujamos distintos
animales, jugamos un juego para contar en inglés:

Por último, repasamos el collage de la jungla que hicimos la clase pasada. Pueden seguir
practicando en casa!

Excellent, Nadya! I would recommend you recycle the Animal Boogie from the
previous class, for instance. If not, they will forget it.
Have a great time!
