1. Annie Leibovitz
Photographer Annie Leibovitz was born October 2, 1949, in Waterbury,
Connecticut. In 1970 she took a job at Rolling Stone magazine. In 1983 she
began working for the entertainment magazine Vanity Fair. During the late
1980s, Leibovitz started to work on a number of high-profile advertising
campaigns. From the 1990s to present time she has been publishing and
exhibiting her work.
Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg made her film debut in The Color Purple (1985), playing Celie, a
mistreated black woman in the Deep South. In 1990, she played Oda Mae
Brown, a wacky psychic helping a slain man (Patrick Swayze) save his lover
(Demi Moore) in the blockbuster Ghost for which she won the Academy
Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Louise Bourgeois
Bourgeois was born on 25 December 1911 in Paris; France. She was
the middle child of three born to parents Josephine Fauriaux and
Louis Bourgeois. Her parents owned a gallery that dealt primarily in
antique tapestries. A few years after her birth, her family moved out
of Paris and set up a workshop for tapestry restoration below their
apartment in Choisy-le-Roi, for which Bourgeois filled in the designs
where they had become worn.
