2. Every country has, had, and will
have its national heroes. According to
the scientific definition a national
hero is a person, whose activities
brought glory and greatness to the
nation.
3. At different times in Europe there were
a lot of people who were true patriots
of their nations, and thus they have
done many good things for their
countries. They are in England like
Robin Hood and William Shakespeare.
4. In Poland this is Fryderyk Chopin, in France
one of them is Joan d’Ark and Saint-Exuperie.
The Czech Republic is proud of Yan Huss. In
Switzerland this is William Tell.
5. Ukraine has many amazing figures that influenced
the history of the country – Danylo Halickiy,
Bohdan Khmelnitskiy,
Ivan Mazepa and Taras Shevchenko.
6. Many Ukrainians consider Stepan Bandera
our national hero, because he all his life he
fought for independence of our country.
He was is the author of “Declaration of the
Ukrainian state” 30 in June 1941. He was
arrested, and then put to the central Berlin
prison.

7. Last years
The Soviet Government was afraid of
Stepan Bandera and later organized
a murder of him in Munich. After the
collapse of the Soviet Union for many
Ukrainians his name became a
symbol of struggle for independence.
8. The concept “Banderivtsi” derived
from his surname and became
universal and applicable to all
Ukrainian nationalists regardless of their
attitude to Bandera.
As for me, Stepan Bandera made
many useful things for Ukraine and for
that he should be considered a
national hero.
