2. The New Year is coming! We
are going to London to see
how the English people
celebrate this holiday in the
capital of the UK.
3. There are thousands of people on the Trafalgar Square.
They come here every year to meet the NY. They sing
and dance, salute and walk around the huge New Year
fur-tree decorated with beautiful toys.
5. Now the tree comes every year from Norway. It is a
present from Norway because England helped to win
the fascists during World War II.
6. We can take part in the annual London
New Year parade on the 1st of January.
It is the biggest in the world!
There are many musicians, dancers, circus
artists here.
7. And on the 1st of
January we shall see the
beautiful salute in the
dark sky!
8. Ded Moroz in England is called
Santa Claus. He is with a white
beard and wears red clothes.
He brings the presents to the
English children.
There is a tradition to leave a sock
for the presents during the NY
night.
9. And the tradition to give the New Year
cards to the family and friends came from
England, too.
This is the first post card made in 1843.
