Anne Cotterill was a Scottish painter born in the Borders of Scotland in the 1920s. She studied art in Edinburgh and was inspired by the wildflowers in the countryside near her home in West Somerset. Her paintings focused on capturing the vibrant colors and textures of flowers arranged in vases, pots, and jars, painted with deliberate plain backgrounds to highlight the flowers. Anne Cotterill had great success exhibiting her work in solo and group shows in galleries in London, Jersey, and Devon until her death in 2010.
