2. Alittleaboutmyself
I am a Rwandan. single ,no children and am
a researcher, From S6 PCB I have a PLE and
0’level certificate and other leadership
trainings from vision conference
Am a follower of Jesus
3. Why didIconduct this research?
There are two types of research
1. Primary data research (field 90%)
2. Secondary data research (existing and available)
Sleeping in class is not only because of porridge
but also if a student did not rest well during
the night the body will became weak hence
the sleeping will a rise
It is fun to talk about porridge because you
excepted more than that(movie I watch)
4. Whydostudents fallasleepintheclass
?
Since I entered my senior 4 in group scolaire
de Gahini most of my classmates and I, we
used to take too much porridge. Around 11
am and 12am all of my classmates and I we
would fall asleep
I didn’t get the answer until I covered my
second chapter in senior six Biology i.e.
homeostasis
5. WhatmakesPorridge?Howcanit
affectstudents?
Porridge is a homogeneous watery mixture
of maize or sorghum flour made of starch
and some time table sugar
Porridge goes through stages, in holozoic
nutrition (ingestion, digestion, absorption,
assimilation and egestion) in order to gain
energy.
6. Stapes for digestionofporridge
Starch salivary amylase Maltose
This process is stopped in the stomach, but continues in the
duodenum
sucrose enzyme sucrose glucose and fructose
The glucose is carried in hepatic portal vein in the liver where it is
converted into glycogen under control of hormone insulin for
storage and later use.
7. Howdoesthesecretionofinsulinbrings
fatigue
As digestion of porridge is easy and faster,
the blood glucose level suddenly rises causing
a greater-than-normal amount of the
hormone insulin to be released.Too much
insulin causes blood glucose level to drop
sharply. The outcome is now fatigue and
the uncontrollable need for a midday nap
(sleep). Because the energy has been
reduced from the blood .
8. Insulinhormonecausesthefollowing
effectstobringglucosetonormal
To stimulate the uptake of glucose into cells all
over the body
To increase the rate of glucose metabolism in cell
respiration
To stimulate glycogensis i.e. condensation of glucose
molecules into that of glycogen.
To stimulate the conversion of glucose molecules into
fatty acids
To stimulate the formation ofATP, DNA and RNA
To inhibit the secretion of glucagon.
9. Whynotincoldness
during cold times there is increase in
metabolic rate, the onset of shivering, and
the contraction of erector muscles that rise
up the hairs and the vasoconstriction of skin
capillaries.
10. SOLUTIONSTOTHEPROBLEM
Addition of some protein (milk)
reducing amount of porridge taken
Doing sport in the morning before taking the
porridge it will be helpful.
Eating vegetables before taking porridge (this
delays the digestion since there will be law
presence of sugar in blood)
When you are in class and you start feeling that you are
becoming weak, inhale your breathe and hold it about 40
seconds and exhale it. Do it 3 times and you will feel
comfortable and continue your studies.
.(this is a meeting of parents don’t consider me as of ….
Primary data research ( observation, interviews, survey)
Secondary data research (books, newspaper, internet etc)
nsulin helps to bring blood glucose level back to normal level (negative feedback).
All the above mentioned activities of insulin weaken the body creating fatigue and the uncontrollable need for a midday nap
All these activities require sugar, which is energy, instead of being converted into glycogen and be stored. It is directly carried in the blood stream to be used, so the insulin hormone is not secreted hence no sleeping.
