Retrospective on you learning Experience
PCP is honestly a great class to take. At first before entering the class I was a
bit nervous only because a lot of people said it was a difficult class, and also because
I’m not one who enjoys presenting. Presenting has always been something I never
looked forward too. No matter how much of the information I know about a certain
topic, when it is time to present I get very nervous and basically forget everything I
intended on saying.
I can say that PCP is kind of helping with my fears for presenting as well. I am
trying to teach myself how to become more confident when presenting. I learned in
PCP that it’s not necessarily a specific thing that you’re presenting but in fact you’re
telling a story of what it was that you learned. I learned a lot of different techniques
of presenting and what you need to do to get the audiences attention right from the
beginning of the speech. Those are basically the do’s and don’ts of presenting.
Nancy Duarte is also a very intelligent person on when it comes to
presenting. I can say that I enjoy reading her book very much because its teaching
me a lot about how to cope with my fears. I like that she gives so many different
methods of different ways of performing. I also like she talks about slides and the
proper way to make slides. This class is allowing me to become more comfortable
without relying on the slides too much.
