Multimedia Concept
• Multimedia is the combination of Multi and Media
which is a representation of information in an attractive
and interactive manner with the use of a combination of
text, audio, video, graphics and animation
Multi + Media = Multimedia
5. Static Elements
12/12/2022 5
• Text is the fundamental component of multimedia and most
familiar way of communicating information to other person.
• Text delivers information in short and simple way. It is used
mostly for Titles, Headlines, Subtitles and Acknowledgement
etc.
6. Static Elements
12/12/2022 6
• Graphics: A graphic or graphical image is a digital
representation of non-text information such as a
representation of non-text information such as drawing, chart
or photo.
7. Static Elements
12/12/2022 7
• There are two types of graphics used: bitmaps (paint graphics) and
vector (draw graphics).
1. Bitmap images are real images that can be captured from
devices such as cameras or scanners.
2. Vector graphics are drawn on the computer and only require
a small amount of memory.
8. Static Elements

Advantages of Graphics in Multimedia
• Convey information more quickly than when using text
• Make complex information simple
• Enhance online teaching and learning
• Enhance communication with some disabled groups, particularly
those with learning difficulties or cognitive impairments
Disadvantages of Graphics in Multimedia
• Take longer to download
• Require the use of plug-ins that the user may not have or be able
to install
• Create accessibility barriers for some users
9. Dynamic Elements
12/12/2022 9
• Animation is a process of making a static image look like it is
moving. It is visual change over time and can add great power to
your multimedia projects and web pages.
• Digital animation can be categorized into two broad areas:
1. 2D (2 Dimension) animations
2. 3D (3 Dimension) animations.
10. Dynamic Elements
12/12/2022 10
• Video: is the technology of electronically capturing,
recording, processing, storing, transmitting, and
reconstructing a sequence of still images representing
scenes in motion.
11. Dynamic Elements
12/12/2022 11
• Sound is the best way to attract attention.
• Often audio provides the only effective way to convey
an idea, elicit an emotion, or dramatize point.
• Sounds also can be combined in a multimedia
presentation to provide information and enhance the
other media being presented.
12. Multimedia Presentation
There are two types of Multimedia presentation :
• Linear Presentation
• Non-linear Interactive
Linear active content progresses without any
navigation control for the viewer such as a
cinema presentation.
12/12/2022 12
13. Multimedia Presentation
Non-linear content offers user interactivity to control progress
as used with acomputer game or used in self-paced computer
based training.

15. Importance of Multimedia
• “Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may
remember; involve me and I will understand” (Chinese
proverb)
• Each person learns differently and each person is
inspired by something different. The use of multimedia
allows developers to tap into these differences.
• In fact, research shows that people remember only 20%
of what they see, 30% of what they hear. When they see
and hear it, they remember 50%, if we include some
interaction; they will remember 80% of it

16. Benefits of Multimedia
• Provides an excellent way to convey content
• Uses a variety of media elements to reinforce one idea
• Gives life to flat information
• Enhances user enjoyment
• Improves retention

17. Hypermedia
• Hypermedia: is another term used related to multimedia.
• Hypermedia requires that the user is able to interact with the
presentation. The simplest form of hypermedia is hypertext where
the user is able to follow textual links.
• The most common provider of hypermedia content is the World
Wide Web.

18. Graphic Design Concept
• Graphic design is the craft of planning and creating visual content
to communicate ideas and messages. Graphic design is everywhere
you look — from billboards to cereal boxes to mobile apps. Through
incorporating different elements and principles, these designs can
influence our perception and emotions.
• Graphic design is also known as communication design, and Graphic
Designers are essentially visual communicators. They bring visual
concepts to life, most commonly through graphic design software,
and inform or engage consumers through text, graphics and images.
• It is also one way that companies connect with consumers. Design
can be used to promote and sell products, to convey a message, or
to develop a brand identity. Though some graphic design has a
commercial purpose, graphic design can also be a form of art and
expression.

20. Graphic Design Types
• Web design
• Web design involves planning and building the appearance,
layout, structure, and design of websites. It focuses on the front-
facing aspects of a website, including the user experience. Web
Designers combine a variety of visual elements, such as text,
photos, graphics, and video, to create appealing and user-
friendly sites and pages. Web design is closely connected to UX
and UI design.
• Publication graphic design
• This design focuses on creating layouts and selecting typography
and artwork, including photography, graphics, and illustrations.
Graphic Designers in this area work with books, newspapers,
magazines, and catalogs. They need to understand color
management, printing, and digital publishing.

21. Graphic Design Types
• Packaging graphic design
• Packaging not only protects products, but it is also an important
marketing tool. Graphic Designers in this area develop concepts,
mockups, and print-ready files. Packaging graphic design
requires an understanding of print processes, as well as industrial
design and manufacturing.
• Motion graphic design
• Motion graphic design is a new specialty area in graphic design,
though it is quickly growing and demand is increasing for Motion
Graphic Designers. At a basic level, this type of design involves
any graphic in motion. This can include animations, banners, title
sequences, trailers, or video games.

22. Measurement in Graphic Design
• Measurement is the process of obtaining the scale and
conversion of an object.
• It’s important for scale and conversion and Measuring type is
helpful when designing documents that will be published or
printed. Knowing the units of measurement and their
conversions will save a lot of time and resources.
• Measurement can be:
• Pixel (px)
• Inch (in)
• Millimeter (mm)
• Centimeter (cm)
• Meter (m)
• Others

23. Alignment in Graphic Design
• Alignment is the arrangement of elements on a composition
that keeps them from being a complete disorderly mess.
• It allows our eyes to see order, which is quite comforting to a
reader.
• Alignment can be divided into:
• Vertical Alignment
• Top
• Center
• Bottom
• Horizontal Alignment
• Left
• Center
• Right
