15. A: So Anton…have a seat. How are you doing today?
B: I’m fine. I’m staying in the hotel...so I didn’t need to worry about being on time.
A: OK. Good...and how was your journey from LA?
B: Well, I haven’t been to Russia for more than a year...and I almost missed my
connection in Frankfurt...but I arrived safely and have settled in nicely. A bit cold though.
A: I see…right…so tell me what do you like to do in your spare time?
B: I haven’t had a lot of that recently...but I usually spend a lot of my free time with
friends and family...socializing I guess
A: ...and have you found any bars or restaurants you like here in Tula?
B: Well since I only arrived yesterday. I haven’t really had a chance to get out of the
hotel yet...
B: OK...maybe I can give you some suggestions later. Right, let’s get down to business.

Some Conclusions
The past simple and the present perfect both used to
describe things in the past.
When we use the past simple to talk about past time, when
whatever we are describing has finished and has no
connection to the present.
When we use the present perfect to talk about the past. We
are looking at what happened from the present.
We use perfect aspect to link present time to past time.
