Project description
1) Select 6 of the poem types listed below that you want to learn more about.
Free verse Concrete poem List poem
Limerick Acrostic poem Narrative poem
Diamante Bio poem Clerihew
Cinquain Haiku Found poems
2) Find out more about that type of poetry and describe its characteristics or special
features. Use your class text (Fountas & Pinnell) as a resource! It contains a lot of
great information! Give credit to whatever source you use.
3) Describe how you would use the poem in your reading/writing classroom. Again, use
your class text as a resource. Be specific by including information about the following:
- Into what block of the 3-block format does it fit?
- What skill, strategy or idea would you teach with it?
- Briefly explain how you would use it to teach that skill, strategy or idea.
4) Find and describe at least two online resources for each poem that you might use as
resources when you are a teacher.
5) Compile the poem and pages into a book format like the example in Figure 1. Publish
your book in a digital format.
