Robert Frost Poetry Analysis
This poem was written by Robert Frost in 1923, in New Hampshire. He wrote it for political reasons because he was mourning the end of the world.
It does not appear as it was origianally written. It was not part of a series or collection. It also does not belong to any particular movement.
This poem was not written about any person or national hero. It is not a lyric, or a haiku. It is, however, a conffesional poem, as it speaks of his
opinion of the polotics of that time.
Yes, because, the title is obvious as it describes the main topic of the poem. No, there is really only one set meaning to the poem. There is no balance,
as it mainly talks about the end of the world. There is really no obvious opposite in this poem. Yes, it mentions thegarden of Eden in the poem.
The only repitition in the poem, that I could find, was when he mentioned leaves dieing.
This poem suggests the passing of day and the change of the seasons in this poem. The passage of day is obvious, with no gaps in between
The name Eden has value because Eden was a garden of holy perfection, "So Eden sank to grief" means that the world ends.
Yes, at first glance this poem appears to be about nature and the seasons, but if you take into consideration that he was unhappy with the politics at the
time, things begin to make more sense.
Yes, because this poem shows that, at this point in time, the people where unhappy with the politics, and concerned about the current war

Winter Symbolism In Literature Essay
When you think of winter what do you usually think about? I think about the freezing temperatures, the ice, and the snow. However, in literature
winter can be symbolic of many things. The dark, sadness, old age, and death are just some of the things winter can symbolize in literature. The songs
"California dreamin'" by the Mamas and Papas and "A hazy shade of winter" by Simon and Garfunkel are both about winter but mean very different
things. Foster's How to Read Literature Like a Professor will also be referenced in order to help show the meanings of these pieces. California
dreaming is a very simple and straightforward song;. It has three short verses and a chorus that repeats a couple of times. " California dreamin' on
such a winter's day" is repeated throughout the song. This is the main essence of the song. The narrator is telling us that he likes the warm and
sunny days of California more than the cold harsh winter. Throughout this song we learn of other things that the narrator dislikes which are gray
skies and brown leaves. These signify the arrival of winter which saddens the narrator. There's also a deeper meaning that can be figured out with
the help of Foster's work. In his book he tells us that the cold often can symbolize sadness and that warm often symbolizes happiness. One of the
many possible meanings that the mamas and papas could be trying to convey is that it isn't easy to be happy. In the song the narrator arrives at a
church and is going to stay. Even though he isn't very happy he would rather be in the church than in the cold as shown in the next verse where he
starts to complain about the cold again. We can learn from this message to be thankful for what we have even though it isn't what we want because it
could always be worse. In " A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon and Garfunkel the narrator sends a clear message that he does not like the arrival of
winter. When you hear the song you can tell how much he doesn't like the winter anytime anything related to it is said. His voice becomes low, dull
and lifeless. The way he sings tries to makes you associate sadness with the winter. To the narrator the winter may be sad because it is cold but if we
look deeper into the song we

Harvest Table Observation
This last Monday I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Harvest Table in Brookings SD. It was a wonderful and eye–opening experience. Anna and I
had planned to do a fun leaf activity where children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I had
many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they were interested to see what we had. They loved the
feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost interest. The children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from the
previous times. Many of these children need consistency in their life and these Monday nights are probably that one event and time that they get that
consistency.

Tom Hank Rhetorical Analysis
The first thing most people think of when they hear the name Tom Hanks is a toy cowboy, but there is so much more to him. He has a lot more to
tell the listeners then just how to get beyond infinity; he can tell listeners how anyone can change the world. Hanks gave a commencement speech at
Yale University in 2011 to the graduating class. Hanks talks about how, even through fear, anyone can change the world for the better. He emphasizes
that people should work to make the world better instead of posting and tweeting everything people do in the hopes to become famous. Hanks uses a
little bit of ethos and pathos when he used his credibility as a famous person to make the graduates listen, an example of ethos, and uses pathos to not
only make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom Hanks uses logos to show that with hard work, anyone can change the world for the better. Logos is a literary device that proves a point
through the use of logic. Hank's first example of logos was when he told his personal story where his friend's uncle told his friend he would pay for
his education as long as he wanted to stay in school. The reason for this is because when a person gets their first job, said person will work the rest
of his life. Hanks also stated, "On spring days like today, it is traditional for us to ponder the state of the world and implore you all to help make it
a better place which implies that things are somehow worse today than they were when we were sitting where you are right now. I am not so sure
the planet earth is in worse shape than it was 30, no 18, no four years ago." (Hanks). Because rushing into things is not always the best idea, Hanks
used a personal connection to show this. The uncle knew that if his nephew just rushed into his life and did not go to college, it would do more harm
than help. This is the same when working to change the world. People cannot just jump into things;

Use Of Romanticism In The Human Seasons By John Keats
Romanticism in literature was used widely in Europe towards the end of the eighteenth century and is characterized by adoration of nature, celebration
of an individual, strong emotions, interest in man, and the importance of imagination. There are many poems which use romanticism to convey its
meaning to the reader. "The Human Seasons" by John Keats is a poem about the emotions of man and is symbolized with the four seasons of winter,
spring, summer, and autumn. John Keats is regarded as one of the most well–known romantic poets alongside Lord Byron. The poem conveys the use of
romanticism to the reader through the use of awe of nature, interest in the common man, importance of imagination, and strong senses of emotions to
intrigue the reader. Nature is used throughout the poem through the seasons of spring, summer, autumn and fall, which symbolize emotions of humans
and give an insight in the interest in the common man. Each individual season is very different from each other and represents a distinct human emotion
or stage of life. The characteristic awe of nature is used by Keats to make a connection between human emotions and nature. There is also an interest in
the common man in which the reader learns about the changing emotions of man when the seasons change. Keat's describes the human season's saying,
"There are four seasons in the mind of man" (l.2). When Keat's uses the words "...in the mind of man" (l.2) the reader will understand that the author is

Argumentative Essay : Summer Is The Best
The four seasons, winter, summer, autumn and spring fly by like Lightning Mcqueen from the movie Cars, racing to the finish line. When you talk
about the seasons everybody has a different perspective to it. Some might say summer is the best, due to there being no school, also the hot weather.
Many may argue that Spring is the best, because of the plants coming back to life after months in the grave. Finally, some people believe that autumn
is the best, because of the fact that it has comfortable weather and the colors of the trees. All the seasons are great, but after you're done reading this
you'll know that winter is the best season in my opinion. For instance, winter is MVP due to the outdoor activities, beautiful scenery it brings, ... Show

When all's said and done winter offers variety of sports and activities you can play and just have fun. In addition, winter has such beautiful scenery
you would think you are in a museum. For example, when snow hits ground and forms the endless, angelic sheet of white crystal it is unlike any
feeling anyone has ever felt. Think about it, you wake up one day to see snow fluttering around outside and it is an amazing sight. So, you ask to
go outside, sure you have to get a snow suit on or something to keep you warm but, it's all worth it once you go outside and you feel the icy crystals
float around you. You will feel like Elsa., Ok, I'm done with the references. Besides the point, When people go outside and they see this god–like work
of art they want to take pictures of it and the landscape just looks so awesome with the sunset in the background with snow falling creating this
masterpiece that can only be recreated during the awesome season of winter. As a human and a teenager, I can tell you that when you go outside
after a snowstorm it is the most breathtaking experience ever, due to the painting of white splashed around every corner. As a final note, winter is
one of the only season's that give us a "Paesaggio Fantastico". It's italian for Awesome Landscape and it describes this season very well. As a final
point, when winter comes around, holidays flood in like water into a bathtub. Just some examples, New Years eve/Day, Christmas and, the winter
solstice.

Deadly Flu Season Analysis
Science is loved and feared by humans, depending on how it is used and applied. It both helps people and causes difficulties. In some ways it has hurt
lives, like in Macaela Mackenzie's "What to know about 2018's Deadly Flu Season" and Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr.Hyde". In some ways it has helped our lives, like in Fabrizio Bensch's "Scientists find DNA of first–ever bubonic plague, warn of new outbreaks.",
in Daniel Defoe's " A Journal of the Plague Year", and in Harvard University Contagion : Historical Views of Diseases and Epidemics "The Great

In Defoe's text "A Journal of the Plague Year", he experiences how people suffered during the plague. This has helped the lives of people by
showing people what happenend during that time. "... sorrow and sadness sat upon face..." (Defoe). To emphasize, he shows the readers that people

Seasons In A Midsummer Night's Dream Essay
In A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, the seasons are vital to the development of several relationships. Seasons are first presented
in the title. Each season offers a different attitude. Summer is known for freedom and romance, where winter in contrast is shown with themes of
bitterness and death. The season of the play and the themes associated with it allow the characters in the comedy to progress in their romantic
relationships. The seasons heavily affect the relationships of the inhabitants of the magical world. Fairy royalty Titania and Oberon, along with their
attendants see over the magical world. Oberon and Titania, being king and queen, respectively, are in a fight over an Indian prince. Oberon desires the

In the natural world there is strife among four lovers. The lovers include a couple, Hermia and Lysander, a competitor for Hermia'slove, Demetrius, and
a friend of Hermia and a seeker Demetrius's love, Helena. The four are affected by the fairies seasonal mix up as well as the fairies interfering with
the lover affairs by using a "juice" that causes the affected to "pursue" "the next thing... [they] look upon... with the soul of love" (2.1.177, 180, 183).
The love potion put on the lovers causes confusion and conflict among the women. Hermia and Helena argue over the men, who have both been
unknowingly tainted with the love potion. This leads to arguments over their friendship which was once so strong that the two were "two seeming
bodies but one heart" as well as their physical insecurities (3.2.212). The women are forcing their angers on to each other both because they are angry
at each other and because of the love potion confusion and the season switch. Thomas C. Foster describes "hard–wired" traits of winter, which could be
the season summer has been confused with by the fairies, as filled with "resentment" and "dissatisfaction" with things life people (186). Towards the
end of the comedy, the fight between Titania and Oberon was solved, causing their negative effects in the physical world to subside and allow the
seasons to stop their "dissension" (2.1.116). Additionally, the fairies

Literary Sources From Online On Climate Change
Methodology
There were three major steps to our research. We gathered literary sources on climactic trends, spoke to stakeholders, and then created maps to show
our findings.
As a result of the fact Smith College does not have a plan on how to prepare in response to changes in climate, and that most data which is readily
available to the public focuses on large scale climate change information, the project focused on presenting information specific to Smith College in a
way which would be accessible to the Climate Change Study Group which was formed in the fall of 2015 as well as anyone else that wished to
understand the impacts of climate change that may happen.
To begin the project, literary sources from online on climate change were first explored. The group met to work with Rocco Piccinino from the Smith
College Young Library who helped in identifying the best ways to use online data bases to find information. Three articles came to the forefront for use
as a result of the detailed information which the articles had on climate change as well as the specialized information relating to the region. These
articles were the National Climate Assessment, NRDC Climate Change, and The Northeast Environmental Impact Assessment. With the completion of
the initial reading of these articles the pieces were then broken down in an attempt to find specific information relating to specific climate impacts.
Each member of the group highlighted five or more pieces of information from the

Personal Narrative: It's Winter In Australia
Here in Australia, it's winter. It's currently warmer in the fridge than it is outside. We've just been blasted by a wall of frigid air straight from
Antarctica, and much of the south–eastern corner of our continent has snow drifts over parts that not so long ago were baking under the hot Autumn
sun. It's not something we're used to in Australia.
Of course, now that winter is firmly entrenched, more people are coming to see me with their viral upper respiratory tract infections, better known as
'colds'. Yes, 'tis theseason to be sneezin'! Over my years of practice, I've seen enough people with a cold to last me a thousand winters.
What always fascinates me are the things that people try to use to cure their cold. I think I've heard everything over the last decade: garlic, ginger,
peppermint, chicken soup, honey, tea, honey mixed with lemon mixed with tea, or honey mixed with lemon mixed cayenne pepper mixed with tea.

Metaphor In Sonnet 73
Most live their lives in fear of their final day, saying goodbye to loved ones and making their final memories. In William Shakespeare's "Sonnet 73",
Shakespeare contemplates the loss his lover will feel when their love is cut short by his approaching death. He fondly reflects on the memories they
share all the while mourning the imminent end of his love upon his death. The speaker reveals that the limit on the longevity of their relationship will
only strengthen their love, demonstrating that love is reinforced rather than destroyed with hardship.
Extended metaphors portray the changing of the speakers lifestyle as he reflects on his once bright youth. Vivid imagery is used to describe the
slow loss of liveliness the speaker experiences as he comes to accept the changing seasons of his own life. The speaker's declining physical
condition is described in reference to "yellow leaves" which few or "none" hold on to the last glimpse of life within the speaker. This reference to
fall weather can be associated with the dormancy of fall crops as they prepare for the winter, and in the speaker's case death. The speaker witnesses
as he loses power within his life and begins to prematurely morne the bright life he once had. this metaphor emphasises the loss of physical well–being
and the mental stress the speaker feels when moving further from his youth. The final season of life is described as cold winds blowing "against," the
"shaking" branches of a tree. The descent

As stated by an article by Prevention.com, most people touch their faces at least once in every 4 minutes. This means that if you sleep for 8 hours,
you touch your face around 400 times in a day. If you notice yourself rubbing your eyes, wiping your nose, touching your lips, or biting your nails, try
to avoid doing so. If you continue on doing this without at least using a hand sanitizer, germs can directly enter your mucus membranes and even your
respiratory system. You will then be more susceptible to illnesses during the flu season.

Cleaning Gutter Guards Research
Tired Of Cleaning Clogged Gutters? Install Gutter Guards And Keep Leaves Out If scraping decaying leaves out of your gutters is a job you hate,
you should think about installing gutter guards. The guards keep leaves out of the troughs while allowing rain to seep in, so your gutters work as
intended. While they don't make your gutters completely maintenance free, they do cut down on a lot of time and labor spent cleaning your gutters.
Here are a few things to know. Different Types Of Gutter Guards You can buy different types of gutter guards. Some are screens of mesh or nylon
that sit on top of the troughs. Others are curved like a dome, so leaves slide off. Some guards fit inside the gutters. They are like sponges or bristle
brushes that allow water in, but keep leaves out. When choosing the type of guards to put on your gutters, consider how they will affect the appearance
of your house. The most visible are the curved domes that sit on top of the troughs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you have screens or bristle guards, you may be able to clean them by flushing them with water while they are still in place. You'll have to remove
domed guards so you can see inside the troughs. The guards should snap on and off in large sections so you can remove them and hose them off in
your yard. With no piles of leaves clogging the troughs, small seeds and twigs should flush on through with running water. Even though your gutters
and the guards may not be clogged or have much debris in them, it is still important to clean them occasionally. It is always a good idea to inspect
your gutters annually, and clean them if needed, to make sure they are working properly. If a limb falls on the gutters or a raccoon messes around on
your roof, one of the guards could become dislodged and allow leaves in without you knowing it unless you inspect your gutter system

Staying Healthy During Flu Season
What is flu (influenza)?
It's simple. Flu (influenza) is caused by the influenza virus. It is an illness produced by RNA viruses that infect the respiratory tract of people.
There are 3 types of influenza virus: A, B, and C. Most of the cases of flu are caused by virus A and B.
Symptoms

Virus loves to contaminate those areas.
Always, always wash your hands as many times as you can. Just think of your hands as the perfect vehicle to transport the virus. But if you wash them
they are destroyed.
As you can see, it is not difficult to stay healthy during flu season. It's just a matter of habits.
But if you get infected, don't worry, your immune system will take care of viruses that produce the flu. Medications only aim to alleviate symptoms until
the infection goes.

The Development Of East Africa
Over the last five million years, every aspect of East Africa's landscape has undergone a peculiar change, creating a centrality of evolution in its
region. Due to forces exerted by plate tectonics and a changing climate, East Africa has transformed from a depressed, arboraceous region to an alpine
landscape that is strangely dominated by deep–water lakes that tend to appear and disappear consistently. According to the Huffington Post, it was from
this particular area that "emerged an ape smart enough to question its own existence; (Maslin)" a clever indication that this area employed the rise of
human beings. Approximately twenty million years ago, the Asian and Indian continental plates jarred into one another and impelled the Tibetan
plateau to move upwards. In the midst of the heated summertime, this plateau acts "as a huge heat engine (Maslin)" as it absorbs solar energy that is
later transmitted to the atmosphere; during this process, convection currents are created. With vast amounts of hot air rising, air from other areas are
transported and sucked in, including moist amounts of air from the Indian Ocean "that produces intense South East Asian monsoons (Maslin)". It is
this transition occurring within the air that has drawn out the moisture from African and created a dry climate within the areas of its eastern regions.
Not only is the climate affected by this action, but also evolution as well. The distinct split that is created between the climates of Asia and

The Elderly Population
In the beginning, when I began brainstorming about this competency I felt as if it was a demand need for everyone to be aware about. I have seen
individuals being decline of services for a variety of reasons, and it makes earning those services harder when they aren't within personal reach. I
witnessed this during my placement, as well as my personal life. During my placement, I realized that the elderly population still often have the
chance to be denied for services, support and have their rights being acknowledged. There are several things that I know about this competency
while interning at Lutheran Social Services. Oppression and discrimination happens in a range of ways and sometimes it doesn't exactly present

other populations. Therefore, we have to engage in understanding what we have to do by taking action in a political sense where we have to put
others needs and advocate what we believe in for those to get proper rights as well. Overall, if someone needs aren't being addressed, we must
empower them to help serve them to give them justice as well. In my activities I have participated in different ways of seeing how this relates to my

Personal Narrative : My American Experience
My American Experience Growing up in Ghana, I had heard a lot of things about the U.S. This was a country I had always wanted to visit; my prayer
was answered when I got the opportunity to travel there. Arriving in a new environment came with many experiences. Adjusting with food, language
and the weather was not easy. With the passage of time, however I have been able to0 adjust and fit it. This write–up therefore is to elaborate on my
experiences since coming to U.S.
I had many interesting experiences arriving to the U.S. The most interesting experience I had was with the food. I remember getting picked up from the
airport by my parents and taken straight home. It was in the winter, they ended up getting stuck at work due to the blizzard. There was McDonald's
close to my house so I decided to buy something since I was starving to death. When I got there I couldn't order anything, there were menus all over
the place. I left there after 15 minutes because I didn't know what kind of food it was and it scared me. My parents were able to come home the
next day and they took me to Golden Corral but I still couldn't eat. I was not used to the food and didn't like the smell and taste of it. The sizes of
the food were in larger potions which fed three to five people. The combination of their food was very ridiculous. I tried their soup and it was
tasteless there was no spice. After some time, I became used to their food and now I eat more than they do. There is no harm in

The Prevention Of The Flu Season Brings Up A Lot Of...
We all know that the Flu season brings up a lot of queries about the disease prevention. The next question is where we can find a reliable source of
information. This will then lead us to look for a website that is credible. While there are several accurate and reliable information, I chose Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, also known as CDC. This is one of the operating bodies of the Department of Health that deals mainly on the
identification, prevention, control of diseases and promotion of health education to improve the health of the citizens of the United States of America.
Numerous search engines in the web world can be utilized to access the website, URL "http://www.cdc.gov." Based on my knowledge and experience,
the CDC website has been proven to be a trusted website because of its reputation of providing factual health information about disease control and
prevention. CDC is one of the government agency that provides guidelines in terms of disease control and prevention. Analysis of Websites
Evaluation of websites entails a host of criteria for them to be considered credible. By merely looking at the CDC's website's main page, for
example, links are provided to a government organization which is U.S Department of Health and Human Services or (HHS) and "About CDC"
indicating the site is controlled by a credible "authority," or regulatory board. More so, it provides background and various

August 2014 was the coldest August I had ever experienced. The month was filled with blankets and heavy coats. Though usually Brazilian winters
aren't much different than American autumns, this one made everyone chilly. I was born and raised in the United States of America with my father,
mother and younger brother. But my mother was born and raised in Curitiba, a city in Brazil. When my parents got married, they decided to live in
the United States to raise their family. Despite that, I grew up with a part of Brazil in my heart. We visited Brazil many times throughout my
childhood, but when I was at home, my mom brought Brazil to us through her cooking. My family loved sitting down to various Brazilian meals, many

It had four different cheeses, one of which was an exclusive Brazilian cream cheese called "Requesa". I followed Julia's example and ate it with a
fork and a knife. Thinking back, I can still remember admiring the gooey cheeses and soft doughy crust. More servers brought out more unique flavors
of pizza, some of which were essentially just traditional dishes put on dough– including the dessert pizzas, which came later. The next pizza I tried was
one with an orange sauce, rice, cheese, and chicken. I recognized it as a dish called Stroganoff. Part of what made the meal so memorable was a
drink called Guarana. It came from South American fruits and was served as the most common drink in Brazil. Back home, the only places you could
find it were at over–priced, far away international stores. So naturally, the whole time I was in Brazil I asked for it. Some of the other people at my
table asked for drinks like Coke and Sprite, because Gruarana was nothing special to

Flu / Influenza Is A Leading Pressure Associated With The...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Flu/influenza is a leading pressure associated with the winter season. It has huge impacts on the external community,
providers of direct healthcare services and a wide range of health and social services that supports people at risk. This policy brief is directed towards
the complete mitigation of vaccine shortage that was encountered in the 2004–2005 flu season in the United States. There is a need to develop program
that would address these problems, implement vaccination programs that would place priorities on accessibility to the population at risk, and the entire
community, providing resilience for the entire country during the forthcoming flu season. The policy is intended to capture every individual in the

For healthy individuals, flu is usually self limiting with a recovery period of two to seven days, while for the clinical risk group, it could lead to
serious complications such as pneumonia and may be fatal. The viral disease spread during the winter season of the year and poses a lot of threat on
the entire community due to high rate of the clinical risk group in the United States. At risk group are clinically considered to be 65years and above,
children 5years and below, people with medical conditions (asthma, endocrine disorder, blood disorder, heart diseases etc), healthcare providers, and
people with weakened immune system (HIV, Hepatitis) etc. outbreak of this disease could result to economic burden such as cost of healthcare and lost
productivity as encountered in the 200–2003 flu season. In the United States, an estimated US$ 71–167 billion is spent by the government on flu
prevention and treatment on an annual basis. Problems associated with Flu vaccine shortage The United States during the 2004–2005 flu season
identified many problems related to shortage of Flu vaccines. The diagram below shows the trends of flu vaccine availability from 1992–1993 till the
2008–2009 seasons in the United States. In the 2000–2001 flu season, the demand for vaccine exceeded supply due to challenges encountered from

Spring In The Great Gatsby
I noticed while reading that the weather and seasons matched with the mood, feeling, and the events that were happening or going to happen.
Furthermore, in literature, autumn tends to symbolize dying, winter is dead, spring represents renewal and growing, and summer is growth and
liveliness. In the beginning of the classic, Nick discusses his life and describes his environment, "And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of
leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with summer" (4).
Throughout most of the book, nothing completely traumatic happens until the death of Myrtle Wilson. During the summer time, Nick meets new
people and Gatsby and Daisy reconnect; summer is the period of growing relationships.
Before Gatsby reconnects with Daisy after several years, it is pouring rain outside. The rain builds up suspense and Gatsby becomes nervous and
eager. Then, it starts to decrease and he finally talks to Daisy. After they talk for a while and become comfortable with each other again, it stops raining
and it's bright outside. The stopping of the rain definitely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a hot summer day, "The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer" (114). When the weather is hot, it's
uncomfortable and tense, which is exactly how everyone felt when they were together. Autumn was soon approaching, which meant that the leaves
would begin falling and so would the fate of people's lives. Nick and Daisy leave in his luxurious car after a tense and uncomfortable conversation
with Tom. Then, Nick's luxurious car kills Myrtle, which is ironic because the one thing she dreamed and hoped for, wealth, in life killed her. She was
obsessed with materialism, which was why she had an affair with Tom, always wishing for something bigger and

Spinster, by Sylvia Plath
"Spinster" by Sylvia Plath is a poem that consists of a persona, who in other words serves as a "second self" for the author and conveys her
innermost feelings. The poem was written in 1956, the same year as Plath's marriage to Ted Hughes, who was also a poet. The title suggests that the
persona is one who is not fond of marriage and the normal rituals of courtship as a spinster is an unmarried woman, typically an older woman who is
beyond the usual age of marriage and may never marry. The persona of the poem is a woman who dislikes disorder and chaos and finds relationships
to be as unpredictable as the season of spring, in which there is no sense of uniformity. In this poem, Plath not only uses a persona to disclose her
feelings, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the winter, nothing is out of proportion and everything is disciplined like the heart, whereas in the spring when budding relationships and spring
fever make the heart out of control. This image of winter that Plath provides, suggests that the woman is cold emotionally as she has little emotion.
She has the frame of mind that nature like human interaction should be in black and white with as little color or disarray as possible. Towards the end
of the poem, Plath once again discloses the persona's abhorrence toward spring. She writes, "but hereвЋЇa burgeoning unruly enough to pitch her five
queenly wits into vulgar motley" (19–21). The word "burgeoning", which means growth, indicates the persona admitting that she knows that growth is
uncontrollable: flowers bloom, relationships develop, and spring occurs every year (19). However, the persona is depressed because she feels like
she has no control and that scares her. Spring is too complex for her to understand and it falls outside of her comfort zone. Still, by using the phrase
"five queenly wits", Plath points out that the reader feels superior to all that is in disorder (20). Plath explains, "let idiots reel giddy in bedlam spring:
she withdrew neatly", which implies that the persona separates herself from society and would rather be in solitude (23–24). When one is alone, life is
less confusing and everything is structured like the season of winter. As a result, the persona puts a wall

The Roles Of Light And Dark Imagery
Analysis of the roles of light and dark imagery in Banana Yoshimoto's Kitchen In the novella Kitchen, Banana Yoshimoto uses light and dark imagery
to develop realistic characterization and to support her fantastical style, while effectively projecting pathos upon the readers. Throughout the story,
Mikage unveils that life is a process of healing where grief and sadness are needed to truly appreciate happiness. Such abstract ideas and emotions are
detailedly brought about by Yoshimoto's usage of the four seasons of the year to provide a main timeline of the events concerning Mikage's encounters
with death, as well utilizing cosmos as a form of pathetic fallacy during the more miniscule experiences. In the grand scheme of the story, there ... Show

Following Spring was the "one summer of bliss" (59) occurring "in [the Tanabe's] kitchen'' (59). This period containing longer, bright days of joy and
fullness demonstrates to the readers the extent of Mikage's contentment through the motif of nurture brought by cooking in the kitchen, especially in
the Tanabe's kitchen.
In face of the season of death and preparing for an end, "Eriko died late in the Autumn." (44) Much grief and despair fell upon Mikage and Yuichi as
the dark Autumn imagery clearly reflects these negative emotions. There was a discrete transition from Autumn to Winter as death and preparing for
an end goes hand in hand with voidness and despair. The four seasons of the year which range in different exposures to lightness are perfectly used by
Yoshimoto to express the continuity of the cycle of grief and joy as time advances.
Yoshimoto provides an overall transition between darkness to lightness from the beginning of Kitchen to the end, which demonstrates Mikage's
developmental journey in discovering that time will constantly move despite any abruptions in life and no one will be capable of preventing it.
Proceeding the death of Mikage's grandmother, she is once again stuck with a "hollow in [her] heart" (56) the following Winter as it was the grieving
period for Eriko; however, now she has developed a philosophy that "[she] wants to

Personification Of Autumn Summary
Whether it was fate, an act of the gods, or just a coincidence of nature, the earth was tilted on its axis at creation, resulting in the phenomenon of
seasons as it endlessly orbits the sun. Winter, spring, summer, and fall. The seasons come and go as do the unique features that each one holds. But is
each season treasured equally to its individual worth? Or do they all blend together as time slips through the world's fingers? The beauty of life found
within Autumn can't be fully appreciated until the limit of time and inability to avoid death is accepted.
In the first stanza, Keats develops his ode to Autumn through vivid imagery detailing his appreciation for the season's life as well as his
acknowledgement of the death that succeeds it. Although fall is a transition to death, the season itself symbolizes a harvest of life, shown through the
personification of Autumn as a "Close bosom–friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the
thatch–eves run." The detailed imagery of the sun and Autumn working together to bring about the life of the season reveals the speaker's respect for
the natural beauty and life created by the season. However, death is not entirely absent from the first stanza, as the diction of the "maturing sun"
reveals that the speaker is aware that fall will not last forever, and the death of winter will eventually take over. The speaker's internal conflict over the
inevitable loss of Autumn is shown

Changing The Changing Of The Seasons
Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons make the environment bloom while other seasons put
the environment to rest for a period of time. Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the freezing snow
of winter. Many people vary in which season they relish the most, but I enjoy three of the four seasons Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time
during the summer, fall, and winter that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the chilling breeze
of fall, or sub–zero temperatures of the winter. I'm a huge fan of the summer, fall, and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of theyear. The white
snow covers the ground like white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with family and friends. I
look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in
multiple layers of clothes to protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the roads. I pick up a
handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno–cone. I walk a couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down the icy slopes
of Main Street. I make my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise almost as if someone was using a jackhammer. They were finally

Why Do We Experience The Four Seasons?
A common misconception that people have regarding why Earth has different seasons is that they think it is due to how far the Earth is from the sun
at different times in the year as we on Earth orbit. However, that is not the case of why we experience the four different seasons throughout our year.
Earth's orbit does not rotate around the sun in a perfect circle; the Earth orbits in an elliptical shape around the sun. Since our orbit is not a perfect
circle, there are points in our orbit where Earth is the closest to the Sun in it's orbital path, and there are also other points in our orbit where the Earth is
the farthest from the Sun in our orbital path. The point at which Earth is the closest to the sun is called perihelion, and the point ... Show more content

The first law states that an object moves at a constant velocity unless another force acts against it (ex: a soccer ball will not move unless someone
kicks it with force, and the ball will keep its motion unless other forces act upon it like air resistance, or a net). His second law of motion states
that an object will accelerate when a force acts on a mass (ex: if you push a car with a certain amount of force, it will accelerate). Newton's Third
Law states that there is an equal and opposite reaction for every action or force (ex: If you lean against a wall, you are exerting a force on the wall,
and the wall exerts the same amount of force to hold you up). Objects have a mass which is measured by the matter the object has, while weight is

Countless news headlines refer to this flu season as deadly or the deadliest, lending to the destructive nature of the 2018 flu activity. The worry and
misery that a flu season can bring with it has certainly surpassed that of the last few years. The high number of deaths is an alarming aspect of this
flu season and warrants the panic generated in the public. Its activity is so widespread, but it is still possible to protect yourself and seek effective
treatment if you become a casualty of the flu.
A–H3N2 Strain
This season has witnessed the presence and impact that two flu strains, the A–H1N1, and the A–H3N2, but it is the A–H3N2 that is the main culprit
guilty of causing the majority of influenza incidents this season. The A–H3N2 is noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as
being linked to serious ailment in people over 65 and young kids, with at–risk kids being those under the age of 2. It is a rapidly mutating virus and is
capable of evading vaccine, which is characterized as being 30% effective against the A–H3N2 strain. This means that this virus is nastier, capable of

December 22, 2016. Spring: A Season So Beautiful.
Season, weather or climates are important natural occurrences that happening on the earth. While these natural endowments vary from country to
country based on geographical location and earth revolution, it is not inappropriate to say that seasons are natural occurrences that human cannot avoid
at their own time, including their good side and their bad side. In America, the season is a crucial determinant for migration, business, and commerce,
health, jobs availability, farming activities etc. one of such season is spring. According to Nola Taylor, an author and a science contributor on Live
Science, Spring is described as "The season of new beginnings where fresh buds bloom, animals awaken, the earth comes to life again and the season
in which farmers and gardeners plant their seeds with temperatures rising slowly. Also, "Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and to ideas of
rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth. It suffices to conclude that the spring season is a season of restoration, a season that
resuscitates all that other seasons have caused to die. A season that brings about a brand new climatic condition favorable to both plant and animals as
well as human beings. According to the website Kidskonnect.com, Spring is one of the four seasons and

Seasons : The Natural Occurrences Essay
Seasons are important natural occurrences. While the duration and times of these phenomenon vary from country to country, it is a given among
different populations of the world that their weather would undergo certain changes at various times of the year. It is irrefutable and expected.
Meteorologists may wrongly predict the times though. Seasonal changes have been integrated into our cultures too. Seasons determine our leisure
activities, sports, dressing, etc. In America, seasonal changes determine, at the least, the population behaviors for migration, business, and commerce,
health, jobs availability, and farming activities. One of such seasons is spring. According to Nola Taylor, an author and a science contributor on Live
Science, Spring is described as "The unique new beginnings season where the earth comes to life again, animals awaken, and fresh bud bloom. The
season in which gardeners and farmers plant their seeds with temperatures rising slowly". Also, springtime is associated with the concepts of rebirth,
rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth among living things. It is the period when trees start to gain green leaves back. The weather
becomes conducive enough for warm–blooded animals to come out of hiding from the cold envelope of winter. According to the website
Kidskonnect.com, Spring is one of the four seasons and the transition from Winter into Summer. In the United States, it is expected to occur during the

The Festival of Bealtaine, also known as May Day, marks the beginning of the summer. It encompasses the sunset of April 30th, which is May Eve,

Robert Frost Poetry Analysis

  • 1. Robert Frost Poetry Analysis This poem was written by Robert Frost in 1923, in New Hampshire. He wrote it for political reasons because he was mourning the end of the world. It does not appear as it was origianally written. It was not part of a series or collection. It also does not belong to any particular movement. This poem was not written about any person or national hero. It is not a lyric, or a haiku. It is, however, a conffesional poem, as it speaks of his opinion of the polotics of that time. Yes, because, the title is obvious as it describes the main topic of the poem. No, there is really only one set meaning to the poem. There is no balance, as it mainly talks about the end of the world. There is really no obvious opposite in this poem. Yes, it mentions thegarden of Eden in the poem. The only repitition in the poem, that I could find, was when he mentioned leaves dieing. This poem suggests the passing of day and the change of the seasons in this poem. The passage of day is obvious, with no gaps in between The name Eden has value because Eden was a garden of holy perfection, "So Eden sank to grief" means that the world ends. Yes, at first glance this poem appears to be about nature and the seasons, but if you take into consideration that he was unhappy with the politics at the time, things begin to make more sense. Yes, because this poem shows that, at this point in time, the people where unhappy with the politics, and concerned about the current war Yes, although, at first glance, this poem ... • 2. Winter Symbolism In Literature Essay When you think of winter what do you usually think about? I think about the freezing temperatures, the ice, and the snow. However, in literature winter can be symbolic of many things. The dark, sadness, old age, and death are just some of the things winter can symbolize in literature. The songs "California dreamin'" by the Mamas and Papas and "A hazy shade of winter" by Simon and Garfunkel are both about winter but mean very different things. Foster's How to Read Literature Like a Professor will also be referenced in order to help show the meanings of these pieces. California dreaming is a very simple and straightforward song;. It has three short verses and a chorus that repeats a couple of times. " California dreamin' on such a winter's day" is repeated throughout the song. This is the main essence of the song. The narrator is telling us that he likes the warm and sunny days of California more than the cold harsh winter. Throughout this song we learn of other things that the narrator dislikes which are gray skies and brown leaves. These signify the arrival of winter which saddens the narrator. There's also a deeper meaning that can be figured out with the help of Foster's work. In his book he tells us that the cold often can symbolize sadness and that warm often symbolizes happiness. One of the many possible meanings that the mamas and papas could be trying to convey is that it isn't easy to be happy. In the song the narrator arrives at a church and is going to stay. Even though he isn't very happy he would rather be in the church than in the cold as shown in the next verse where he starts to complain about the cold again. We can learn from this message to be thankful for what we have even though it isn't what we want because it could always be worse. In " A Hazy Shade of Winter" by Simon and Garfunkel the narrator sends a clear message that he does not like the arrival of winter. When you hear the song you can tell how much he doesn't like the winter anytime anything related to it is said. His voice becomes low, dull and lifeless. The way he sings tries to makes you associate sadness with the winter. To the narrator the winter may be sad because it is cold but if we look deeper into the song we ... • 3. Harvest Table Observation This last Monday I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Harvest Table in Brookings SD. It was a wonderful and eye–opening experience. Anna and I had planned to do a fun leaf activity where children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I had many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they were interested to see what we had. They loved the feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost interest. The children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from the previous times. Many of these children need consistency in their life and these Monday nights are probably that one event and time that they get that consistency. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tom Hank Rhetorical Analysis The first thing most people think of when they hear the name Tom Hanks is a toy cowboy, but there is so much more to him. He has a lot more to tell the listeners then just how to get beyond infinity; he can tell listeners how anyone can change the world. Hanks gave a commencement speech at Yale University in 2011 to the graduating class. Hanks talks about how, even through fear, anyone can change the world for the better. He emphasizes that people should work to make the world better instead of posting and tweeting everything people do in the hopes to become famous. Hanks uses a little bit of ethos and pathos when he used his credibility as a famous person to make the graduates listen, an example of ethos, and uses pathos to not only make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom Hanks uses logos to show that with hard work, anyone can change the world for the better. Logos is a literary device that proves a point through the use of logic. Hank's first example of logos was when he told his personal story where his friend's uncle told his friend he would pay for his education as long as he wanted to stay in school. The reason for this is because when a person gets their first job, said person will work the rest of his life. Hanks also stated, "On spring days like today, it is traditional for us to ponder the state of the world and implore you all to help make it a better place which implies that things are somehow worse today than they were when we were sitting where you are right now. I am not so sure the planet earth is in worse shape than it was 30, no 18, no four years ago." (Hanks). Because rushing into things is not always the best idea, Hanks used a personal connection to show this. The uncle knew that if his nephew just rushed into his life and did not go to college, it would do more harm than help. This is the same when working to change the world. People cannot just jump into things; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Use Of Romanticism In The Human Seasons By John Keats Romanticism in literature was used widely in Europe towards the end of the eighteenth century and is characterized by adoration of nature, celebration of an individual, strong emotions, interest in man, and the importance of imagination. There are many poems which use romanticism to convey its meaning to the reader. "The Human Seasons" by John Keats is a poem about the emotions of man and is symbolized with the four seasons of winter, spring, summer, and autumn. John Keats is regarded as one of the most well–known romantic poets alongside Lord Byron. The poem conveys the use of romanticism to the reader through the use of awe of nature, interest in the common man, importance of imagination, and strong senses of emotions to intrigue the reader. Nature is used throughout the poem through the seasons of spring, summer, autumn and fall, which symbolize emotions of humans and give an insight in the interest in the common man. Each individual season is very different from each other and represents a distinct human emotion or stage of life. The characteristic awe of nature is used by Keats to make a connection between human emotions and nature. There is also an interest in the common man in which the reader learns about the changing emotions of man when the seasons change. Keat's describes the human season's saying, "There are four seasons in the mind of man" (l.2). When Keat's uses the words "...in the mind of man" (l.2) the reader will understand that the author is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Argumentative Essay : Summer Is The Best The four seasons, winter, summer, autumn and spring fly by like Lightning Mcqueen from the movie Cars, racing to the finish line. When you talk about the seasons everybody has a different perspective to it. Some might say summer is the best, due to there being no school, also the hot weather. Many may argue that Spring is the best, because of the plants coming back to life after months in the grave. Finally, some people believe that autumn is the best, because of the fact that it has comfortable weather and the colors of the trees. All the seasons are great, but after you're done reading this you'll know that winter is the best season in my opinion. For instance, winter is MVP due to the outdoor activities, beautiful scenery it brings, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When all's said and done winter offers variety of sports and activities you can play and just have fun. In addition, winter has such beautiful scenery you would think you are in a museum. For example, when snow hits ground and forms the endless, angelic sheet of white crystal it is unlike any feeling anyone has ever felt. Think about it, you wake up one day to see snow fluttering around outside and it is an amazing sight. So, you ask to go outside, sure you have to get a snow suit on or something to keep you warm but, it's all worth it once you go outside and you feel the icy crystals float around you. You will feel like Elsa., Ok, I'm done with the references. Besides the point, When people go outside and they see this god–like work of art they want to take pictures of it and the landscape just looks so awesome with the sunset in the background with snow falling creating this masterpiece that can only be recreated during the awesome season of winter. As a human and a teenager, I can tell you that when you go outside after a snowstorm it is the most breathtaking experience ever, due to the painting of white splashed around every corner. As a final note, winter is one of the only season's that give us a "Paesaggio Fantastico". It's italian for Awesome Landscape and it describes this season very well. As a final point, when winter comes around, holidays flood in like water into a bathtub. Just some examples, New Years eve/Day, Christmas and, the winter solstice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Seasons In A Midsummer Night's Dream Essay In A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare, the seasons are vital to the development of several relationships. Seasons are first presented in the title. Each season offers a different attitude. Summer is known for freedom and romance, where winter in contrast is shown with themes of bitterness and death. The season of the play and the themes associated with it allow the characters in the comedy to progress in their romantic relationships. The seasons heavily affect the relationships of the inhabitants of the magical world. Fairy royalty Titania and Oberon, along with their attendants see over the magical world. The four are affected by the fairies seasonal mix up as well as the fairies interfering with the lover affairs by using a "juice" that causes the affected to "pursue" "the next thing... [they] look upon... with the soul of love" (2.1.177, 180, 183). The love potion put on the lovers causes confusion and conflict among the women. Hermia and Helena argue over the men, who have both been unknowingly tainted with the love potion. This leads to arguments over their friendship which was once so strong that the two were "two seeming bodies but one heart" as well as their physical insecurities (3.2.212). The women are forcing their angers on to each other both because they are angry at each other and because of the love potion confusion and the season switch. Thomas C. Foster describes "hard–wired" traits of winter, which could be the season summer has been confused with by the fairies, as filled with "resentment" and "dissatisfaction" with things life people (186). Towards the end of the comedy, the fight between Titania and Oberon was solved, causing their negative effects in the physical world to subside and allow the seasons to stop their "dissension" (2.1.116). • 9. Literary Sources From Online On Climate Change Methodology There were three major steps to our research. We gathered literary sources on climactic trends, spoke to stakeholders, and then created maps to show our findings. As a result of the fact Smith College does not have a plan on how to prepare in response to changes in climate, and that most data which is readily available to the public focuses on large scale climate change information, the project focused on presenting information specific to Smith College in a way which would be accessible to the Climate Change Study Group which was formed in the fall of 2015 as well as anyone else that wished to understand the impacts of climate change that may happen. To begin the project, literary sources from online on climate change were first explored. The group met to work with Rocco Piccinino from the Smith College Young Library who helped in identifying the best ways to use online data bases to find information. Three articles came to the forefront for use as a result of the detailed information which the articles had on climate change as well as the specialized information relating to the region. These articles were the National Climate Assessment, NRDC Climate Change, and The Northeast Environmental Impact Assessment. With the completion of the initial reading of these articles the pieces were then broken down in an attempt to find specific information relating to specific climate impacts. We've just been blasted by a wall of frigid air straight from Antarctica, and much of the south–eastern corner of our continent has snow drifts over parts that not so long ago were baking under the hot Autumn sun. It's not something we're used to in Australia. Of course, now that winter is firmly entrenched, more people are coming to see me with their viral upper respiratory tract infections, better known as 'colds'. Yes, 'tis theseason to be sneezin'! Over my years of practice, I've seen enough people with a cold to last me a thousand winters. What always fascinates me are the things that people try to use to cure their cold. I think I've heard everything over the last decade: garlic, ginger, peppermint, chicken soup, honey, tea, honey mixed with lemon mixed with tea, or honey mixed with lemon mixed cayenne pepper mixed with tea. Within the first paragraph Nancy Lord states, "I don't do it enough anymore, traipsing through with an eye for rose hips or spiders snare with its lump of fluttering, tormented moth." This establishes a pattern evident throughout the story based on the symbolism of flowers. The flowers represent the intensity and lack of intensity within the friendship. The last reference to potatoes, "but I know now that you'll never be so satisfied again with small potatoes." This indicates that her friend cannot be satisfied any longer, living in Alaska. He fondly reflects on the memories they share all the while mourning the imminent end of his love upon his death. The speaker reveals that the limit on the longevity of their relationship will only strengthen their love, demonstrating that love is reinforced rather than destroyed with hardship. Extended metaphors portray the changing of the speakers lifestyle as he reflects on his once bright youth. Vivid imagery is used to describe the slow loss of liveliness the speaker experiences as he comes to accept the changing seasons of his own life. The speaker's declining physical condition is described in reference to "yellow leaves" which few or "none" hold on to the last glimpse of life within the speaker. This reference to fall weather can be associated with the dormancy of fall crops as they prepare for the winter, and in the speaker's case death. The speaker witnesses as he loses power within his life and begins to prematurely morne the bright life he once had. this metaphor emphasises the loss of physical well–being and the mental stress the speaker feels when moving further from his youth. The final season of life is described as cold winds blowing "against," the "shaking" branches of a tree. The descent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Install Gutter Guards And Keep Leaves Out If scraping decaying leaves out of your gutters is a job you hate, you should think about installing gutter guards. The guards keep leaves out of the troughs while allowing rain to seep in, so your gutters work as intended. While they don't make your gutters completely maintenance free, they do cut down on a lot of time and labor spent cleaning your gutters. Here are a few things to know. Different Types Of Gutter Guards You can buy different types of gutter guards. Some are screens of mesh or nylon that sit on top of the troughs. Others are curved like a dome, so leaves slide off. Some guards fit inside the gutters. They are like sponges or bristle brushes that allow water in, but keep leaves out. When choosing the type of guards to put on your gutters, consider how they will affect the appearance of your house. The most visible are the curved domes that sit on top of the troughs.... You'll have to remove domed guards so you can see inside the troughs. The guards should snap on and off in large sections so you can remove them and hose them off in your yard. With no piles of leaves clogging the troughs, small seeds and twigs should flush on through with running water. Even though your gutters and the guards may not be clogged or have much debris in them, it is still important to clean them occasionally. It is always a good idea to inspect your gutters annually, and clean them if needed, to make sure they are working properly. Due to forces exerted by plate tectonics and a changing climate, East Africa has transformed from a depressed, arboraceous region to an alpine landscape that is strangely dominated by deep–water lakes that tend to appear and disappear consistently. According to the Huffington Post, it was from this particular area that "emerged an ape smart enough to question its own existence; (Maslin)" a clever indication that this area employed the rise of human beings. Approximately twenty million years ago, the Asian and Indian continental plates jarred into one another and impelled the Tibetan plateau to move upwards. In the midst of the heated summertime, this plateau acts "as a huge heat engine (Maslin)" as it absorbs solar energy that is later transmitted to the atmosphere; during this process, convection currents are created. With vast amounts of hot air rising, air from other areas are transported and sucked in, including moist amounts of air from the Indian Ocean "that produces intense South East Asian monsoons (Maslin)". It is this transition occurring within the air that has drawn out the moisture from African and created a dry climate within the areas of its eastern regions. I have seen individuals being decline of services for a variety of reasons, and it makes earning those services harder when they aren't within personal reach. I witnessed this during my placement, as well as my personal life. During my placement, I realized that the elderly population still often have the chance to be denied for services, support and have their rights being acknowledged. There are several things that I know about this competency while interning at Lutheran Social Services. Oppression and discrimination happens in a range of ways and sometimes it doesn't exactly present itself as those actions. Elderly still have a voice to advocate for their needs, but sometimes I feel as if it can be taken less seriously compared to other populations. Therefore, we have to engage in understanding what we have to do by taking action in a political sense where we have to put others needs and advocate what we believe in for those to get proper rights as well. Overall, if someone needs aren't being addressed, we must empower them to help serve them to give them justice as well. Furthermore, in literature, autumn tends to symbolize dying, winter is dead, spring represents renewal and growing, and summer is growth and liveliness. In the beginning of the classic, Nick discusses his life and describes his environment, "And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with summer" (4). Throughout most of the book, nothing completely traumatic happens until the death of Myrtle Wilson. During the summer time, Nick meets new people and Gatsby and Daisy reconnect; summer is the period of growing relationships. Before Gatsby reconnects with Daisy after several years, it is pouring rain outside. The rain builds up suspense and Gatsby becomes nervous and eager. • 29. Spinster, by Sylvia Plath "Spinster" by Sylvia Plath is a poem that consists of a persona, who in other words serves as a "second self" for the author and conveys her innermost feelings. The poem was written in 1956, the same year as Plath's marriage to Ted Hughes, who was also a poet. The title suggests that the persona is one who is not fond of marriage and the normal rituals of courtship as a spinster is an unmarried woman, typically an older woman who is beyond the usual age of marriage and may never marry. The persona of the poem is a woman who dislikes disorder and chaos and finds relationships to be as unpredictable as the season of spring, in which there is no sense of uniformity. She has the frame of mind that nature like human interaction should be in black and white with as little color or disarray as possible. Towards the end of the poem, Plath once again discloses the persona's abhorrence toward spring. She writes, "but hereвЋЇa burgeoning unruly enough to pitch her five queenly wits into vulgar motley" (19–21). The word "burgeoning", which means growth, indicates the persona admitting that she knows that growth is uncontrollable: flowers bloom, relationships develop, and spring occurs every year (19). However, the persona is depressed because she feels like she has no control and that scares her. Spring is too complex for her to understand and it falls outside of her comfort zone. Still, by using the phrase "five queenly wits", Plath points out that the reader feels superior to all that is in disorder (20). Plath explains, "let idiots reel giddy in bedlam spring: she withdrew neatly", which implies that the persona separates herself from society and would rather be in solitude (23–24). The Roles Of Light And Dark Imagery Analysis of the roles of light and dark imagery in Banana Yoshimoto's Kitchen In the novella Kitchen, Banana Yoshimoto uses light and dark imagery to develop realistic characterization and to support her fantastical style, while effectively projecting pathos upon the readers. Throughout the story, Mikage unveils that life is a process of healing where grief and sadness are needed to truly appreciate happiness. Such abstract ideas and emotions are detailedly brought about by Yoshimoto's usage of the four seasons of the year to provide a main timeline of the events concerning Mikage's encounters with death, as well utilizing cosmos as a form of pathetic fallacy during the more miniscule experiences. In face of the season of death and preparing for an end, "Eriko died late in the Autumn." There was a discrete transition from Autumn to Winter as death and preparing for an end goes hand in hand with voidness and despair. The four seasons of the year which range in different exposures to lightness are perfectly used by Yoshimoto to express the continuity of the cycle of grief and joy as time advances. Yoshimoto provides an overall transition between darkness to lightness from the beginning of Kitchen to the end, which demonstrates Mikage's developmental journey in discovering that time will constantly move despite any abruptions in life and no one will be capable of preventing it. • 31. Personification Of Autumn Summary Whether it was fate, an act of the gods, or just a coincidence of nature, the earth was tilted on its axis at creation, resulting in the phenomenon of seasons as it endlessly orbits the sun. Winter, spring, summer, and fall. The seasons come and go as do the unique features that each one holds. But is each season treasured equally to its individual worth? Or do they all blend together as time slips through the world's fingers? The beauty of life found within Autumn can't be fully appreciated until the limit of time and inability to avoid death is accepted. In the first stanza, Keats develops his ode to Autumn through vivid imagery detailing his appreciation for the season's life as well as his acknowledgement of the death that succeeds it. Although fall is a transition to death, the season itself symbolizes a harvest of life, shown through the personification of Autumn as a "Close bosom–friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the thatch–eves run." The detailed imagery of the sun and Autumn working together to bring about the life of the season reveals the speaker's respect for the natural beauty and life created by the season. However, death is not entirely absent from the first stanza, as the diction of the "maturing sun" reveals that the speaker is aware that fall will not last forever, and the death of winter will eventually take over. A common misconception that people have regarding why Earth has different seasons is that they think it is due to how far the Earth is from the sun at different times in the year as we on Earth orbit. However, that is not the case of why we experience the four different seasons throughout our year. Earth's orbit does not rotate around the sun in a perfect circle; the Earth orbits in an elliptical shape around the sun. The daily cycle of waking up and sleeping can be extended into the annual cycle of the seasons, which then can be further amplified into the cycle of life and death. Bealtaine is a crucial marker in the year that serves as the start of not only summer, but as a predictor of the rest of the year.
