The document describes the process of developing a website for a sports newspaper. The developer created blank pages in order to design the site themselves. They added common website elements like dates, menus, stories from the paper, and terms and conditions. Later, they linked pages together, added more stories and live updates, and created hyperlinks within ads and articles to related sites. The developer was pleased with the final product which closely mirrored the paper and included many standard website features.

1. I have started the development of my website by creating a blank document in I web. I have decided to use a blank template because it allows me to produce a website in the way that i like and not by following a template. I then started to produce the tile section of the web page. I have decided to use the same colours as i have in the newspaper to make the web page recognisable to the people viewing the website.Stage One <br />19050207010<br />My next step of development was to add the date to the website page. I have decided to do this due to it being a convention of the majority of websites. I have then decided to add a sports picture at the top of the pages. I have decided to do this because it adds another to the web page. This relates back to the theme of the website of sport. <br />The next step of the development was to insert the main menu bar for my website. I have decided to insert this due to it being a main feature within websites. I have included a a Home link allowing people to visit our home page, a news link allowing people to see the local news, a Blogs section allowing people to leave their own sport opinions, a what’s new section allowing people to see the latest features, a more section offering people the chance to explore the website more and a contact us section allowing people to contact the website if they have any queries about stories.190502586355Stag Two <br />The next development of my website was to add in sport links i decided to add some of the most popular local sports in such as Football and rugby and i decided to put other sports in such as athletics and motor sport. I have decided to use a range of sports offering my target audience a wide range of sports to choose from. I have decided to use these colours within my website due to them being used within my paper. i want people to be able to relate my newspaper to my website and i believe using the same colours will do this.<br />The next part to my development was to start to add in my main stories. I have decided to lay them out this in this way due to it being unique to my website and it makes the page look professional. I have allowed spacing in between the stories to prevent the page from being squashed together. This makes the page look neat and tidy. I have decided to use a blue font within the stories, sticking in with the colour scheme of my newspaper. I have decided to use three stories due to it offering the reader a range of stories to choose from. 190501684655Stage Three<br />I have decided to use the two of the stories that have been used within my newspaper. I have done this due to people being able to relate the website and paper together. I have decided to include another story that doesn’t feature within the paper to give something unique to the website. This will encourage people to visit the website if there are stories on the web that aren’t in the paper. i have decided to use the same photographs as situated within the paper for the same reason as using the same stories. It allows people to relate the newspaper with the website.<br />Stage Four <br />The next development of my website was to add in the terms and conditions section at the bottom of my web page. A terms and condition section at the bottom of a web page is conventional for websites. It allows viewers to see the copyrights section of the web site. It also allows people to view terms and conditions of the website. This section is mostly dedicated to the terms and conditions details of entering competition. 19050112395<br />The next part of my development was to add a live link into my website page. I have positioned this live link on the side of the page for a variety of reasons. All of the live links that i have seen on websites have been positioned on the left hand side of website. The other reason is that the live link isn’t the main attraction on the web page so having it positioned at the side makes the website look professional. The live link allows my viewers to see up to date sports news. <br />Stage Five <br />287020264160<br />The next part of the develop was to add adverts into the website page. Due to my paper being free my paper mainly relies on funding from adverts. I have decided to add adverts onto the website for this extra funding. However the adverts used are all based around sport and local sport centres in the area where my newspaper is distributed. I started off by using a blank template. I then decided to use the same positioning on the second page i have done on the first page. The reason for this is tom make the web pages look similar due to this being a convention of websites. Including a search bar allows my viewers to search for specific requirements that they have. It is also a convention on a website to include a advanced search bar. <br />The next part of my website development is to start adding in the story information to my second page. I have started by adding in the story title. I have decided to use a dark blue because it fits in with the colour scheme used throughout my website an paper, but at the same time makes the story title stand out from the page. The next step was to add the date and time. This is a convention of websites because it allows people to see what the time is. I have also added in a print, your view, email and others stories section in. I have decided to use the same story as I’ve used in my newspaper. I have done this because it allows people to relate my newspaper with my website. It is also common in other websites to use the same story as they have used in their newspaper. I have decided to lay the story out in this way because it looks neat and tidy. I have made “Read Full Story” a hyper link because it enables the viewers to read the full story on line. When people click on this link it will lead them to another web page where the full story is situated. This would allow people to click on the tab which would then take them to another page to construct an email. This would allow people to click on this tab if they wanted to read other stories like this one. This is a conventional tab used within websites. This tab would keep people interested in the website because it allows them to read other stories. <br />This is the final product of my of my second page of my website. There are also a variety of features that i like about this second page. I like the fact the main story of the page is used within my website. This is a convention of a website because it allows people to relate both the website and newspaper together. I like the fact that i have used a variety of different colours making each feature stand out from the rest. I like the fact that i have used a colour scheme throughout the website that reflects the colours used in my newspaper. I like the fact that i have included two of the same stories that i have included within my newspaper. This allows both products to be closely related. I like the fact that i have included a variety of different tabs offering my viewers a wide choice of information to read and explore. These adverts will also allow me to get extra funding for my newspaper allowing me to expand. The adverts also make the page look more attractive.
