The document discusses age rating research conducted by the filmmakers. It provides details on the BBFC's 15 age rating guidelines, outlining what is permitted and prohibited in terms of themes, language, nudity, sex, violence, and drugs. Upon reviewing their trailer against these guidelines, the filmmakers found that substance abuse was prominent and there were some violent scenes, so they decided to rate their film 15.

Age rating
1. Age Rating Research
After researching into the BBFC, we found that age rating is crucial for our trailer, promotional
poster and website. The BBFC has been around since 1912 and now ratings a legal
requirement for all films.
Specifically looking at 15 age ratings we found that
The BBFC permits the following within the bounds of the 15 certificate:
Theme: No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate to 15 year olds.
Language: There may be frequent use of strong language; the strongest terms are only rarely
acceptable. Continued aggressive use of strong language and sexual abuse is unacceptable.
Nudity: There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.
Sex: Sexual activity and nudity may be portrayed but without strong detail. The depiction of

Violence: Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain, and of injuries.
Imitable techniques: Dangerous combat techniques such as ear claps, head-butts and blows to

2. When reviewing our trailer, we found that substance
abuse was the most prominent social issue on
screen. Multiple shots include fake vodka bottles,
cigarettes and fake recreational drugs such as
cocaine.
Our trailer could also be seen as violent due to the
punching shots shown towards the female character.
The overall theme of our trailer is based around a
disturbing event (car crash) and how the
consequences of their actions can destroy livelihoods.
Because of our narrative and mildly graphic shots, we
have decided to rate this as 15.
