2. What is it?
BBFC are the British Board of Film Classification; they ensure
that all film releases are scrutinised in order to protect the public
from content that may be unsuitable for them, subject to their age.
The six classifications are; U, PG, 12A, 15, 18 and R18.
We are using this classification to decide what audience our film
‘Hinge’, a thriller, is appropriate for. We have decided to rate our
film ’15’, as the content of our film seems to apply to/doesn’t
exceed this classification. This has helped us decide on our target
audience (ages 15-33).
3. Language: a 15 rated film can contain strong, frequent uses- however, our film
will contain only occasional strong language to emphasis a characters distress.
There will also be no outright offensive terms that aren’t justifiable by the context.
Sex/Nudity: There will be little to no references to anything sexual, and the only
nudity will include a partially nude (shirtless) male; otherwise, there is none.
Violence: The main reason our film has a 15 certification is because of the
violence and gore included. There will be scenes of brief torture, however most
will only be implied using the protagonist’s appearance - there will be frequent
displays of injury and bleeding, which may disturb some below the age of 15.
Alcohol/Drugs: There will be no consumption of alcohol or drugs in our film.
