Stossel Essay
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." This is a common phrase of misconception that has been present in
society for many years. Frequently, it is applied to: cars, toys, relationships, and more. Due to the
multitude of technological advances that have occurred this century, this phrase can also apply to
our government. Our government is one that is not known to conform to the world around it, but to
just simply react to it ("Impact of Information"). So our government may not be "broken" sort to
speak, but it's not as efficient as it could be. America, as a whole, should prepare to see jobs that
may not have existed before, prepare for safety risks, but do not be overwhelmed by them. It is time
for a new beginning, where the future of America is being noticed, groundbreaking innovation is
given a chance, and our government is not fearful over the "what ifs" new technology has to offer.
Regulations that were set up previously are taking away opportunities for our country to be more ...

In order to have a government that doesn't fear innovation, the youth's unlimited opinions would be
an appreciable resource. For youth to understand the power and abilities they have, something needs
to be done about the education system. As mentioned in the "Education" video, John Stossel said,
"It's the people my age, who are in charge, are holding you people back" in regards to youth not
reaching their full potential. How are youth supposed to understand their worth is more than a grade
when the same old education system is telling them different? How can youth, who are the future of
the country, change the government when no one tells them that they are capable to create
innovational breakthroughs? Government oversight is hurting the people that it is trying to help the
most because they do not know what to do to help

Personal Narrative: If I Had To Work In Canada
If I could work in any other country I would work in Canada. Canada is one of the countries that
you never hear about on the news unless their celebrities are doing something they have no business
doing. Politically and economically based, I would not mind living in Canada. Canada is one the
richest countries in the world with a ranking position of 6th place. According to the article titled
Democracy,
"Canada is not a democracy in the strictest sense of the word, but rather can be aptly described as a
Constitutional Monarchy. The highest ranking official in government is not an elected
representative, not even a Canadian (residing in or born in), but rather an un–elected British
monarch" (Wheelwright, 2009) They have a prime minister that is not directly elected by the people
but does follow the beliefs of the people. Unlike America, the prime minister serves as everything
America's three government branches would. If I were to pursue working in Canada I would love ...

Here in America, if I just start talking to people I'm always going into personal things about myself
because I do not mind. I never get negative or weird responses. In fact, people love my life story and
testimony because they find it really different in interesting. Telling brief synapses of my life story is
something that I do to everybody just to generate conversations. It is also my way of simply
introducing me. I love getting to know people and sometimes in order to do so you must know some
personal factors of one's life. I understand that if I do decide to go to Canada then that's something I
will have to hold back on doing. The last thing I want to do is make somebody uncomfortable. By
doing so I can also create possibly a bad name for myself so it is best that I cut my life story
summary out of conversation. Other than that, Canadian customs are very much like my own so
adapting to the culture would not be any work for

A Career In Nursing Practices
Nurses play significant roles in hospitals, clinics and private practices. They make up the biggest
health care occupation in the United States. Nursing job duties include communicating between
patients and doctors, caring for patients, administering medicine and supervising nurses' aides. The
educational path for becoming a nurse vary depending on the type of nurse one hopes to become,
but all nurses must be licensed. Licensings a very long , and vigorious process, but afterwards it's all
worth it. Registered nurses often work in hospitals or outpatient facilities, where they provide

Public Literacy : The Role And Roles Of Public Government
Why?: I chose this particular literacy because I thought it fit perfectly with the lesson objective. As
citizens it is important that we are well informed of each of our branches of government and how
they work, but also the role of each public official. It is important that students become aware of this
so that they may be more informed when voting in the future.
LEARNER EVALUATIVE OBJECTIVE
I can identify current public officials by Writing a postcard to the official of my choosing.
YOUR KNOWLEDGE BASE
A public official is a person holding a position to which they have been legally elected or appointed
and who performs governmental functions. A mayor, justice of the peace, and chief of police are
types of public officials.
A mayor is the elected leader of a community. Roles of the mayor include: the city's chief executive,
directs city departments, positive role model, and community leader. Each city elects its own mayor.
A governor is the elected leader of a state. Roles of the governor include: being the state's chief
executive, responsible for the wellbeing of the state, leader of the state militia, recommends
legislation, appoints, and/or removes certain state officials.
The president is the elected leader of our nation. Roles of the president include, but are not limited
to, the following: the country's chief executive, commander in chief of the armed forces, appoints
and/or removes important government officials, can veto laws, and/or recommends legislation.

Minimum Wage: Should Students Be Paid?
Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world (Mandela). While
tax money needs to be used elsewhere a little more should be used to help contribute for college.
Unfortunately, only so much money a year is given to students to help pay for their tuition; if the
government isn't willing to contribute more money for college tuition, then colleges should decrease
the cost per credit hour. Considering that there are many job occupations not being filled, the world
is missing a piece to complete the puzzle. Without college more and more citizens will not have the
opportunity to get quality jobs to work for the adequate money needed to survive due to the rise in
expenses across the country. Considering that there will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the government should allow more funding for their students, but the college's could also
decrease the amount they charge per credit hour. The smaller communities wouldn't struggle as
much if all the pieces were available to complete the puzzle, citizens would meet the qualifications
of the jobs they were interested in, students would no longer graduate with thousands of dollars in
debt, and lastly families would no longer stress whether or not they lived in poverty. Keeping each
situation in mind how this could be fixed, how everyone could afford to attend the school of their
dreams, and finally, how every community would improve greatly; it's a wonder why tax money
isn't being used

Intercultural Challenges In Nursing

An American Model Of The On The Prime Minister
An American model of the "Questions to the Prime Minister" would be a valuable addition to the
process of government, though changes must be made. First, the questions should not come only
from members of Congress but also from organizational leaders, and group representatives.
However, this should not be open to media outlets to ask questions, only to film and cover the event.
Secondly, the Judiciary branch should be involved in questioning, as it receives little of much due
attention. Lastly, the time period between these sessions should be slightly extended. The President
should receive no aid during his questioning except any notes he happened to prepare ahead of time.
The majority of the "Questions to the Prime Minister" process ... Show more content on

Permanent representatives should appear in every session, they should ask questions for major labor
unions, youth associations, or corporate organizations. The temporary representatives should be
cycled in based on their relevance to current events, and however long they had been waiting for
their turn to question. The purpose of having more representatives than just Congress members is to
broaden the range and spectrum of opinions being voiced, opinions not only of our government
officials but of the people. The Judiciary branch should also have a representative to ask questions
regarding laws and how the constitution is being considered and applied to the democratic process.
Questioning should not be open to media outlets under any circumstances to stop the spread of
misinformation and tactics used to paint the President in a certain light, whether it be good or bad.
These changes will lead to more opinions being heard and less filtering of the facts. The time period
between sessions of "Questions to the President" should be extended. One week between sessions is
simply not feasible in the United States. It would be too hard to determine temporary
representatives, as well as too difficult to assemble everyone involved. A session should be held
once every three months. This would make it much easier to decide temporary representatives. as
well as to prevent the scrambling induced by a shorter time period.

The United States And Japan
After the atomic bombs had fallen and Japan was smoldering, very few people thought the" land of
the rising sun" would ever rise again. However, as history can attest, they were wrong. In the wake
of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a
short month later. The reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of
Allied Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even cleared
.This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were previously untapped.
Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United States and their former enemy, Japan,
following World War Two had a profound impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of
both the United States and the Japanese post
war governments. The exact nature of this impact would
not be truly appreciated, however, for years to come.
ECONOMIC
In the years immediately following the second Great War, Japan was struck by what some would
call an "economic miracle". This miracle allowed for the industrialized nation of Japan to regain its
foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia. Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for
"unconditional surrender and for Japan to be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied
troops, and demilitarized. Japan would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic
viability would be guaranteed through free trade" Although the

The Importance Of A Registered Nurse For Pediatrics
The career I want to major in is nursing; I want to be a registered nurse for pediatrics. The reason
why I chose this career is because I love kids and the fact that I will get to take care of them and
help them get better is what I will love to do. Their health is what matters to me the most. The
responsibilities of a registered nurse would be to record the patient's medical histories and
symptoms, prescribe medicine and treatments, observe the patient and record observations also they
have to help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results. Caring for children and infants illnesses
has to be a RNs number one concern. On my career assessment test on my skills I was better at
helping, managing people, and problem solving. I love to help people in any way I can because
seeing other people happy is the type of person I am. It says I like to motivate people and evaluate
their performance and that's also true and that goes perfect with what a RN should do. The problem
solving skill is also correct when I identify a problem I like to find a solution and make it right.
That's also relates to a registered nurse because they have to talk to the children and figure out
what's wrong with them and they have to find a way to make the patient better and healthy by the
information provided. So indeed I agree that this career matches with my skills. The education I
want to take to take to become a registered nurse is a Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) and that

The Breakdown Of The 1930's With The Weimar Republic
The signing of the Versaille Treaty after the closing World War One brought about a new era for
democracy. Included in that new era was Germany's Weimar Republic. This new republic was set up
and regulated by the Allies, but was controlled by the German Government. One would think that
since the Weimar Republic mocked that of the United States', then it should work efficiently and
smoothly enough to last more than 14 years. That common belief, however, is wrong because a
democracy isn't based off of the government, but rather the people that make up the government. In
order for a democracy to thrive, the average citizen has to be an active member of society by
working daily to keep money moving. There is one flaw with this part of democracy because if the
average citizen cannot get a job, then money stops changing hands and the economy starts ... Show

This exact scenario took place in the 1920's and early 1930's with the Weimar Germany Republic.
One of the factors of the Versaille Treaty included war reparations from the newly founded Weimar
Germany to the Allies. This left Germans in a substantial debt allowing for lost jobs and a declining
economy right from the beginning. In addition, Germany had internal rioting and uprisings along
with the French occupation of the Rhineland that took 40 percent of their industry foreshadowing a
harsh downfall in the coming years. Furthermore, we can look back today and conclude some
valuable lessons from the Weimar Germany which include: government regulation and the constant
checking of the Legislative and Judicial branches against the Executive branch in order to ensure

Government Enforcement Has Been Active Since The Beginning...
Corruption in law enforcement has been active since the beginning of this occupation. Certain
characteristics of policing have changed throughout its years, but corruption is not one of them. In
actuality, this phenomenon has increased significantly throughout its years. We are seeing more and
more officers being arrested now. These arrests do not include the hundreds of officers that have not
been caught. Police corruption can generally be defined as using one's authority and power as a
police to gain and benefit illicitly (Wilson et. al, 1977). Some officers become corrupted as early as
the academy or as late as years into their career. Many are not even aware that the acts they are
involved in are forms of corruption. Some acts may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accepting minor gifts is a form of corruption and is often looked at as harmless because it allows
the community to show their appreciation to the officers. Unfortunately however, certain codes of
conduct prohibit any kind of gifts or gratuities for whatever reason. For example, the International
Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Code of Conduct states, 'I will enforce the law
courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary
force or violence and never accepting gratuities' (2004, p. 45). Nonfederal officers do not see coffee
or discount meals as an issue. They look at it as one of the outlying perks of being a police. But little
did they know, this does raise an ethical issue because the officers are then placed in a position
where the vendor would expect favors or extra service in the future. Although it is ethical and
acceptable to be given a small item such an engraved pen for working a term on a specific duty or an
alcohol free beverage for interviewing a victim, frequent gifts should not be accepted (Coleman,
2004, p. 42). Gifts or certain hospitalities that can be accepted should have little to no value or
would not cause a conflict of interest later down the line. Also, the item should not be given in a
scene where normal payment would be accepted. For example, an officer should not accept free
snacks or coffee from a convenient store, but if an

Why did France occupy Ruhr in 1923 but agree in 1924 to withdraw?
Anastasia Chartomatsidi
LSE ID Number: 201424477
The Ruhr occupation by France in 1923 was a product of a series of events, whose beginnings could
be found in the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. France, because of its need to secure its borders with its
former Great War foe, Germany, and in fear of that the reparations, as they had been dictated by
Versailles treaty, would not be paid, invaded the area of Ruhr on January 11, 1923, along with
Belgium. The passive resistance shown by the Germans, alongside with the unfavourable to the
occupation Great Britain's and USA's attitude, led to the Dawes' Plan in 1924 and its
implementation. Dawes' Plan was confirmed by the London Conference during July and August in
1924, and led to the evacuation of Ruhr by France and Belgium in 1924.
At the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, the Allied victors had to decide the peace terms for the
defeated Central Powers. The questions, which had been challenging the peacemakers, were the
position of Germany in the current international system, whether it had to pay both in land and in
reparations, and how could security could be provided without hindering the post–war stability.
Another question, which soon was arisen, was how the French interests for security and diminishing

Arthur Walworth's 1946 work, Black Ships Off Japan: The Story of Commodore Perry's Expedition,
was released in the immediate aftermath of World War II, near the beginning of the American
occupation of Japan. Walworth writes his account of Perry's expedition as objectively as possible
given the relatively limited sources available in English at the time. The work goes into considerable
detail in describing Perry's 1852–1853 visit, illustrating not only the minutiae of the diplomatic
maneuvering, but also the various formalities of leisure events and ceremonies which grew
increasingly frustrating to Perry.1 Walworth briefly examines Perry's 1954 return to Japan to accept

This volume is exceptionally valuable to the study of Perry's expedition due to its rarity. In 1852, the
Commodore ordered that all diaries and journals were now government property subject to seizure
and that members of his fleet were totally barred from any contact with media, directly or
indirectly.5 Preble managed to smuggle his diaries off the ship by disguising the entries as
individual letters to his wife, who collected and held them for him until his return home.6 This rare
inside look at the fleet will likely continue to be used by scholars studying Perry for years to come
as more fragmentary information is able to be teased out from its pages. Like many of the works

Essay On Texas State Government
Today we will be discussing the structure and a few roles of the Texas state government, the purpose
and function of each type of local government, describing how some states have consolidated the
county and city functions into a single entity, and my opinion on whether or not Texas would be
better maintaining its several distinct types or consolidating them into a single larger entity.
The commissioner's court has several roles such as taxes, discretion in administering state programs,
determine how much state funding is provided to each special area (medical, supplemental food,
etc.), upkeep and new county jails, all while providing health and safety programs to citizens in rural
areas. In addition to those duties aforementioned, they also have more authority in ... Show more

This system works because the mayor realizes the need for managerial assistance. The city manager
reports only to the mayor while focusing on policy implementation and budgeting. This allows the
mayor to focus on addressing and working for a solution for major problems within the city. The
Commission form allows for the elected commissioners to form a board of administrative
individuals that oversee specific departments. They tend to favor their department the most instead
of public interest. They also fall into the easily corrupt and don't have specific areas of
responsibility. General–Law Cities are usually under a population of 5,000 or cities that have not
adopted the home–rule style of government. With the state limiting the size of council, they also
specify duties of the mayor, municipal officials, and emplacing additional boundaries on matters that
home–rule can determine themselves. A downfall to this style of leadership is that with the small
size getting someone with knowledge to come in and effectively manage the city and its

1984 Literary Analysis
In every country, county and city, a government is intact to resolve each community's issues. It is
formed to further perfect each society to become a utopia for its citizens, but even within the
government itself, obstacles, such as the balance of the state's power, remain. This type of dilemma
is demonstrated throughout literature; one example can be recognized in George Orwell's 1984.
George Orwell uses literary elements to express social issues of the dystopian society in 1984. Many
social issues involving social control from the government is expressed through the literary element
of symbolism. Different recurring symbols in 1984 by George Orwell include the government figure

The country's language, Newspeak, also symbolizes a form of the social control issue. This language
is a digression from the original language Oldspeak, which is closely related to the English
language. Newspeak is a gradual regression of Oldspeak because the dictionary for Newspeak is
always being revised and shorten. Over time the citizens of Oceania gradually develop a smaller
range of vocabulary. Thoughtcrime is opposing the Party in any way or having different beliefs from
the Party, and this is a dilemma in Oceania. The only other way for the Party to eliminate
thoughtcrime is to "narrow the range of thought...make thoughtcrime impossible, because there will
be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed in one
word, " and make other thoughts inexpressible (52). Therefore there will not be a word to express a
certain thought or feeling eliminating individuality and any way for the people of Oceania to know
any different. Soon there will be no expression to explicit the strong feelings such as love or even
hate. This is a very strong form of social control, but this social issue is recognized by Winston

The Role Of Social Classes In Ayn Rand's Anthem
In the novel Anthem by Ayn Rand the social classes are portrayed in a way that is very different
from the way social classes are viewed today. The way the power is divided in the social classes is
not very different from the way it is in our society. The government has exaggerated control in the

A full time legislature is a legislature where the members consider their jobs as being full time. The
members are well paid and committees are well staffed. Legislators meet for the most part of the

time to issues allows them to perform their duties more effectively. A full time legislature allows
adequate time for debate and hearings among the legislators and the public, therefore the decision

There are special sessions that are called by the governor. The legislative process in Texas is a
hybrid system with a combination of both the full time legislature and the part time legislature. The
140 day sessions is a short period to conduct all the business of the state and the constitution gives
the governor the power to call as many special sessions needed in order to complete important state
business. These special sessions are short and do not exceed 30 days. Reducing the duration of these
sessions is important to ensure that the government does not govern too much. At the end of a
legislative session any bills that have not been approved by both houses die on the last day of the
session. The governor can use the threat of a special session to motivate legislators to focus on
issues that are of concern to the governor. The compromises that are possible between Texas 140
day sessions and a full time approach include a reduction of costs and the availability of adequate
time to discuss and debate legislations. The sessions are limited to 140 days, but if there are issues
that need legislative attention, then the governor can convene special sessions to address these issues

The Causes And Effects Of Work Organization Hazards
Imagine not being able to eat, drink, or use the restroom for twelve consecutive hours. These
working conditions account for nearly 78 percent of nurses in the hospital today. According to
Jordin Purcell–Riess, who is a registered nurse at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut,
being a nurse is probably the "worst job in the world." She also stated that " The hallways are
always full of ill patients on a stretcher and as soon as you can get your ICU patient upstairs, there's
another one waiting for you." Work Organization Hazards can cause impaired task performance,
nurses' burnout and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which can result in high blood pressure,
anxiety, and depression. By creating a schedule with adequate breaks to prevent feeling
overwhelmed, positive reaffirmations and healthy lifestyle choices, work organization hazards can
be avoided. Work Organization Hazards (WOHs) are problems associated with workplace issues
that can cause stress (short–term) and strain (long–term) on the body. WOHs are common in settings
such as laboratories, hospitals, and nursing homes. WOHs pose Psychological risks which include
the inability to concentrate, depression, anxiety, negative thinking and memory lapse. Psychological

Essay on Embracing Defeat by John Dower
Embracing Defeat by John Dower
John Dower's "Embracing Defeat" truly conveys the Japanese experience of American occupation
from within by focusing on the social, cultural, and philosophical aspects of a country devastated by
World War II. His capturing of the Japanese peoples' voice let us, as readers, empathize with those
who had to start over in a "new nation." The initial terms of surrender were laid out in the Potsdam
Declaration of July 26, 1945, in which the United States, Great Britain, and China all participated.
But unlike post World War II Germany, which was split into four quadrants among the Allies, the
occupation of Japan was solely and American endeavor. This document was by no means tame.

Purges of militaristic, high ranking officials occurred, as was the ban on restriction of assembly and
speech. Yet, while political change happened with lightning like swiftness, social change was much
slower.
Upon arriving to the mainland of Japan, many of the American occupation were stunned at the utter
devastation that the Japanese had endured. It was a testament to both the bravery and spirit of their
armies, as well as the foolishness of their leaders, that they were able to endure the war as long as
they had. Having put most of their economic resources to the war movement, much of the civilian
population was left in near famine. With the armies throughout the Pacific being repatriated on a
daily basis (although many wouldn't return for year) the conditions became even worse. Despair and
hunger set into the populace that was described as the "kyodatsu condition." With their colonies in
Asia no longer in direct control, much of their food supply imports were cut off. Japan had relied
heavily upon the importation of rice, sugar, and salt, but access was now severely restricted. To
make matters worse, the United States decided to take a hands–off approach to rebuild the economy,
a natural decision to punish a nation that caused so much devastation to others. Malnutrition was a

Registered nurses provide patient care and educate patients and the public about medical care and
various health conditions. They give their emotional support and advice to whom that need it. Most
registered nurses duties are recording patients medical histories and symptoms, observe patients and

Communities Are Human Groups, Networks, And Associations...
I. Introduction According to Brueggemann (2014)"Communities are natural human groups,
networks, and associations of people related to one another by at least one common or compelling
factor in more or less loosely linked forms of connection"(p.142). Communities are not only a place
where a group of people cohabitate but a linkage among people sharing common interests and
activities. In every community there are social workers that advocate on the behalf of the vulnerable
and oppressed population. A social worker needs to become familiar with the communities that their
clients reside in, to better provide local resources and aid to clients. In every community there are
resources and assets that could be used to improve its social environment. For example, many
communities have programs like the YMCA that promotes youth development and communication
among people living in the community. In addition, a social worker that provides direct services to
client needs to be aware of the resources available within the community and the population seeking
the assistance. By identifying which people live in a certain community, social workers could
develop cultural humility and have a better understanding of their client's values, morals and
heritage. Having this knowledge is crucial since some resources are specifically tailored to certain
groups. For instance, some senior centers provide meals, transportation, and employment assistance
for the elderly. Knowing the population that lives

Put simply, we are out there to make money in the stock markets. When one goes through the
contract note of the regular brokers, there are huge costs spent on brokerages, taxes and duties. At a
brokerage of Rs.30 on per lot of Option one has to pay a brokerage of around Rs.150 for 5 lots.
There are also duties and taxes which increase it to Rs.200.When the same thing is done through a
discount brokerage the brokerage cost is Rs.20 and adding the taxes and duties it come to Rs.40.
There is saving of Rs.150. It directly adds more money to the profits.

There is no difference between trading through a regular broker and a discount broker. There is still
the old facility of call and trade. There is the new facility of mobile trading and online trading.
3. More high frequency trades
The reduction of brokerage brings down the breakdown even. The intraday brokerage for discount

in politics. It has caused political fights, undermines democracy and good governance by flouting or

To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for...
"To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for Germany, 1919–1933?" Explain your
answer. The Dawes Plan of 1924 was formulated to take Weimar Germany out of hyperinflation and
to return Weimar's economy to some form of stability. It helped Germany return to its pre–war state.
Economically, socially and politically Germany seemed to be more stable than it was in previous
and following years. However, this stable period seemed to have been built on unstable foundations.
The economy appeared to have stabalised with the introduction of the Dawes Plan. Before 1924,
Germany was experiencing hyperinflation. The old Papiermark was rapidly depreciating and so
Germany had to print more and more of it to pay reparations. By December 1922 ... Show more

Therefore there was a decline in extremist parties such as the Communists and the National
Socialists because many Germans didn't want an extreme change and liked Germany as it was. This
was a turning point for Germany because it seemed that the extremist parties would not be capable
of getting seats in the parliament. Also, Stresemann convinced the public that a democratic
government would solve any problems quickly– and many believed him. The popularity of the
Social Democrats increased and they had the majority of the seats in the parliament (153). This was
a turning point for Germany because people started to believe that this new democratic government
would remain stable and prosperous for the years to come. The Dawes Plan allowed this to happen
because it gave the Republic the money it needed to invest in the economy for the people. However,
this success seemed to be short–term and relied on Germany's unguaranteed success to keep people
from voting for extremist parties. Although Stresemann's Germany looked promising, there was still
political instability because no one party could gain a majority in the republic. Governments had to
be formed from coalitions of parties working together. This meant that decision–making was
difficult and could easily be overturned by a smaller, less significant party. Up to 1930, the Social
Democrats always won the most votes, but never enough to govern on their own. There were

Stossel Essay

  • 1. Stossel Essay Stossel Essay "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." This is a common phrase of misconception that has been present in society for many years. Frequently, it is applied to: cars, toys, relationships, and more. Due to the multitude of technological advances that have occurred this century, this phrase can also apply to our government. Our government is one that is not known to conform to the world around it, but to just simply react to it ("Impact of Information"). So our government may not be "broken" sort to speak, but it's not as efficient as it could be. America, as a whole, should prepare to see jobs that may not have existed before, prepare for safety risks, but do not be overwhelmed by them. It is time for a new beginning, where the future of America is being noticed, groundbreaking innovation is given a chance, and our government is not fearful over the "what ifs" new technology has to offer. Regulations that were set up previously are taking away opportunities for our country to be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to have a government that doesn't fear innovation, the youth's unlimited opinions would be an appreciable resource. For youth to understand the power and abilities they have, something needs to be done about the education system. As mentioned in the "Education" video, John Stossel said, "It's the people my age, who are in charge, are holding you people back" in regards to youth not reaching their full potential. How are youth supposed to understand their worth is more than a grade when the same old education system is telling them different? How can youth, who are the future of the country, change the government when no one tells them that they are capable to create innovational breakthroughs? Government oversight is hurting the people that it is trying to help the most because they do not know what to do to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Personal Narrative: If I Had To Work In Canada If I could work in any other country I would work in Canada. Canada is one of the countries that you never hear about on the news unless their celebrities are doing something they have no business doing. Politically and economically based, I would not mind living in Canada. Canada is one the richest countries in the world with a ranking position of 6th place. According to the article titled Democracy, "Canada is not a democracy in the strictest sense of the word, but rather can be aptly described as a Constitutional Monarchy. The highest ranking official in government is not an elected representative, not even a Canadian (residing in or born in), but rather an un–elected British monarch" (Wheelwright, 2009) They have a prime minister that is not directly elected by the people but does follow the beliefs of the people. Unlike America, the prime minister serves as everything America's three government branches would. If I were to pursue working in Canada I would love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here in America, if I just start talking to people I'm always going into personal things about myself because I do not mind. I never get negative or weird responses. In fact, people love my life story and testimony because they find it really different in interesting. Telling brief synapses of my life story is something that I do to everybody just to generate conversations. It is also my way of simply introducing me. I love getting to know people and sometimes in order to do so you must know some personal factors of one's life. I understand that if I do decide to go to Canada then that's something I will have to hold back on doing. The last thing I want to do is make somebody uncomfortable. By doing so I can also create possibly a bad name for myself so it is best that I cut my life story summary out of conversation. Other than that, Canadian customs are very much like my own so adapting to the culture would not be any work for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Minimum Wage: Should Students Be Paid? Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world (Mandela). While tax money needs to be used elsewhere a little more should be used to help contribute for college. Unfortunately, only so much money a year is given to students to help pay for their tuition; if the government isn't willing to contribute more money for college tuition, then colleges should decrease the cost per credit hour. Considering that there are many job occupations not being filled, the world is missing a piece to complete the puzzle. • 17. An American Model Of The On The Prime Minister An American model of the "Questions to the Prime Minister" would be a valuable addition to the process of government, though changes must be made. First, the questions should not come only from members of Congress but also from organizational leaders, and group representatives. The temporary representatives should be cycled in based on their relevance to current events, and however long they had been waiting for their turn to question. The purpose of having more representatives than just Congress members is to broaden the range and spectrum of opinions being voiced, opinions not only of our government officials but of the people. The Judiciary branch should also have a representative to ask questions regarding laws and how the constitution is being considered and applied to the democratic process. Questioning should not be open to media outlets under any circumstances to stop the spread of misinformation and tactics used to paint the President in a certain light, whether it be good or bad. These changes will lead to more opinions being heard and less filtering of the facts. The time period between sessions of "Questions to the President" should be extended. However, as history can attest, they were wrong. In the wake of the 1945 bombings, the occupation and subsequent reconstruction of Japan was begun, just a short month later. The reconstruction of Japan was spearheaded by the Supreme Commander of Allied Powers, General Douglas MacArthur, and was formulated before the smoke even cleared .This reconstruction plan opened new gates to the Japanese people that were previously untapped. Additionally, the new diplomatic relations between the United States and their former enemy, Japan, following World War Two had a profound impact upon economic, defensive, and social policies of both the United States and the Japanese post war governments. The exact nature of this impact would not be truly appreciated, however, for years to come. ECONOMIC In the years immediately following the second Great War, Japan was struck by what some would call an "economic miracle". This miracle allowed for the industrialized nation of Japan to regain its foothold in the economic sectors of Southeast Asia. Essentially, after the war, the U.S. called for "unconditional surrender and for Japan to be stripped of most of its empire, occupied by allied troops, and demilitarized. Japan would then be integrated into the world economy, and its economic viability would be guaranteed through free trade" Although the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason why I chose this career is because I love kids and the fact that I will get to take care of them and help them get better is what I will love to do. Their health is what matters to me the most. The responsibilities of a registered nurse would be to record the patient's medical histories and symptoms, prescribe medicine and treatments, observe the patient and record observations also they have to help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results. Caring for children and infants illnesses has to be a RNs number one concern. On my career assessment test on my skills I was better at helping, managing people, and problem solving. I love to help people in any way I can because seeing other people happy is the type of person I am. It says I like to motivate people and evaluate their performance and that's also true and that goes perfect with what a RN should do. The problem solving skill is also correct when I identify a problem I like to find a solution and make it right. That's also relates to a registered nurse because they have to talk to the children and figure out what's wrong with them and they have to find a way to make the patient better and healthy by the information provided. So indeed I agree that this career matches with my skills. The education I want to take to take to become a registered nurse is a Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) and that takes four years to ... Included in that new era was Germany's Weimar Republic. This new republic was set up and regulated by the Allies, but was controlled by the German Government. One would think that since the Weimar Republic mocked that of the United States', then it should work efficiently and smoothly enough to last more than 14 years. That common belief, however, is wrong because a democracy isn't based off of the government, but rather the people that make up the government. In order for a democracy to thrive, the average citizen has to be an active member of society by working daily to keep money moving. In addition, Germany had internal rioting and uprisings along with the French occupation of the Rhineland that took 40 percent of their industry foreshadowing a harsh downfall in the coming years. Certain characteristics of policing have changed throughout its years, but corruption is not one of them. In actuality, this phenomenon has increased significantly throughout its years. We are seeing more and more officers being arrested now. These arrests do not include the hundreds of officers that have not been caught. Police corruption can generally be defined as using one's authority and power as a police to gain and benefit illicitly (Wilson et. al, 1977). Some officers become corrupted as early as the academy or as late as years into their career. Many are not even aware that the acts they are involved in are forms of corruption. Some acts may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accepting minor gifts is a form of corruption and is often looked at as harmless because it allows the community to show their appreciation to the officers. Unfortunately however, certain codes of conduct prohibit any kind of gifts or gratuities for whatever reason. For example, the International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Code of Conduct states, 'I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities' (2004, p. 45). Nonfederal officers do not see coffee or discount meals as an issue. They look at it as one of the outlying perks of being a police. But little did they know, this does raise an ethical issue because the officers are then placed in a position where the vendor would expect favors or extra service in the future. Although it is ethical and acceptable to be given a small item such an engraved pen for working a term on a specific duty or an alcohol free beverage for interviewing a victim, frequent gifts should not be accepted (Coleman, 2004, p. 42). Gifts or certain hospitalities that can be accepted should have little to no value or would not cause a conflict of interest later down the line. Also, the item should not be given in a scene where normal payment would be accepted. For example, an officer should not accept free snacks or coffee from a convenient store, but if an ... International Relations : Hy 400 : Crisis Decision Making Department of International History MSc History of International Relations HY 400: Crisis Decision Making in War and Peace, 1914–2003 Essay 1 Why did France occupy Ruhr in 1923 but agree in 1924 to withdraw? Anastasia Chartomatsidi LSE ID Number: 201424477 The Ruhr occupation by France in 1923 was a product of a series of events, whose beginnings could be found in the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. France, because of its need to secure its borders with its former Great War foe, Germany, and in fear of that the reparations, as they had been dictated by Versailles treaty, would not be paid, invaded the area of Ruhr on January 11, 1923, along with Belgium. The passive resistance shown by the Germans, alongside with the unfavourable to the occupation Great Britain's and USA's attitude, led to the Dawes' Plan in 1924 and its implementation. Dawes' Plan was confirmed by the London Conference during July and August in 1924, and led to the evacuation of Ruhr by France and Belgium in 1924. At the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, the Allied victors had to decide the peace terms for the defeated Central Powers. The questions, which had been challenging the peacemakers, were the position of Germany in the current international system, whether it had to pay both in land and in reparations, and how could security could be provided without hindering the post–war stability. Another question, which soon was arisen, was how the French interests for security and diminishing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. Essay on Embracing Defeat by John Dower Embracing Defeat by John Dower John Dower's "Embracing Defeat" truly conveys the Japanese experience of American occupation from within by focusing on the social, cultural, and philosophical aspects of a country devastated by World War II. His capturing of the Japanese peoples' voice let us, as readers, empathize with those who had to start over in a "new nation." The initial terms of surrender were laid out in the Potsdam Declaration of July 26, 1945, in which the United States, Great Britain, and China all participated. But unlike post World War II Germany, which was split into four quadrants among the Allies, the occupation of Japan was solely and American endeavor. This document was by no means tame. Military occupation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Purges of militaristic, high ranking officials occurred, as was the ban on restriction of assembly and speech. Yet, while political change happened with lightning like swiftness, social change was much slower. Upon arriving to the mainland of Japan, many of the American occupation were stunned at the utter devastation that the Japanese had endured. It was a testament to both the bravery and spirit of their armies, as well as the foolishness of their leaders, that they were able to endure the war as long as they had. Having put most of their economic resources to the war movement, much of the civilian population was left in near famine. With the armies throughout the Pacific being repatriated on a daily basis (although many wouldn't return for year) the conditions became even worse. Despair and hunger set into the populace that was described as the "kyodatsu condition." With their colonies in Asia no longer in direct control, much of their food supply imports were cut off. Japan had relied heavily upon the importation of rice, sugar, and salt, but access was now severely restricted. To make matters worse, the United States decided to take a hands–off approach to rebuild the economy, a natural decision to punish a nation that caused so much devastation to others. Malnutrition was a leading cause of preventable death in many major cities, and the rapid rise of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Communities Are Human Groups, Networks, And Associations... I. Introduction According to Brueggemann (2014)"Communities are natural human groups, networks, and associations of people related to one another by at least one common or compelling factor in more or less loosely linked forms of connection"(p.142). Communities are not only a place where a group of people cohabitate but a linkage among people sharing common interests and activities. In every community there are social workers that advocate on the behalf of the vulnerable and oppressed population. A social worker needs to become familiar with the communities that their clients reside in, to better provide local resources and aid to clients. In every community there are resources and assets that could be used to improve its social environment. For example, many communities have programs like the YMCA that promotes youth development and communication among people living in the community. In addition, a social worker that provides direct services to client needs to be aware of the resources available within the community and the population seeking the assistance. By identifying which people live in a certain community, social workers could develop cultural humility and have a better understanding of their client's values, morals and heritage. Having this knowledge is crucial since some resources are specifically tailored to certain groups. For instance, some senior centers provide meals, transportation, and employment assistance for the elderly. Knowing the population that lives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discount brokerages have heavily brought down the cost of trading. This has proven to be a boon to the traders especially the intraday and the derivatives trades. Full–service brokers had made a request to market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to impose a minimum slab on the brokerage being charged by discount brokers. The Dawes Plan of 1924 was formulated to take Weimar Germany out of hyperinflation and to return Weimar's economy to some form of stability. It helped Germany return to its pre–war state. Economically, socially and politically Germany seemed to be more stable than it was in previous and following years. However, this stable period seemed to have been built on unstable foundations. The economy appeared to have stabalised with the introduction of the Dawes Plan. Before 1924, Germany was experiencing hyperinflation. The old Papiermark was rapidly depreciating and so Germany had to print more and more of it to pay reparations. By December 1922 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore there was a decline in extremist parties such as the Communists and the National Socialists because many Germans didn't want an extreme change and liked Germany as it was. This was a turning point for Germany because it seemed that the extremist parties would not be capable of getting seats in the parliament. Also, Stresemann convinced the public that a democratic government would solve any problems quickly– and many believed him. The popularity of the Social Democrats increased and they had the majority of the seats in the parliament (153). This was a turning point for Germany because people started to believe that this new democratic government would remain stable and prosperous for the years to come. The Dawes Plan allowed this to happen because it gave the Republic the money it needed to invest in the economy for the people. However, this success seemed to be short–term and relied on Germany's unguaranteed success to keep people from voting for extremist parties. Although Stresemann's Germany looked promising, there was still political instability because no one party could gain a majority in the republic. Governments had to be formed from coalitions of parties working together. This meant that decision–making was difficult and could easily be overturned by a smaller, less significant party. Up to 1930, the Social Democrats always won the most votes, but never enough to govern on their own. There were twenty–five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
