2. •My target audience is 15-25
and is aimed at both male and
females. From this focused on
specific social groups within the
music genre which is indie/pop
but mainly pop.
•My main music genre was going to
be pop but after doing research
into magazine sales I thought it
would be best to combine both
indie and pop style which is so
popular at the moment.
3. •Pop music is music that
would be relatively
mainstream meaning it’s
mainly chart music or
chart artists.
•I was able to see the kind of reader I
will attract.
•This helped me focus on specific
groups.
•I researched into more indie/pop fashion
and found that the mainstream styles are
always preferred at the moment that style
would be indie/vintage. From this I also
found that my audience will be looking for
the hottest and most current things in a
magazine.
4. •So when designing my
magazine I followed the pop
stereotype with the colours
and layout but used indie
styled models.
•I styled my magazine to
what a typical indie/pop
teen would like e.g. colours,
fonts and indie styled
models.
•When researching other pop magazines I found
that all the names where simple and often either
related to pop or music. So following this example I
decided to go with jukebox as its something
everyone knows and is music related.
5. •The colour scheme I used was blue,
black, pink and orange as these are
typical pop style colours. These are also
the colours you might find on pop clothes
and media style for pop viewers.
•Even though this is a
typical colour scheme I still
think that all the colours
work well together and
match the pop style.
•I put my twist to the
colour scheme by adding
different shades of the 4
colours to make my pages
to look more vibrant
6. •The photographs I used were all edited through
Photoshop I didn’t change much in terms of colouring but I
did highlight certain areas in one or two like the eyes. I
didn’t want to change much as to keep with the untouched
look of the models.
•The poses I used for the
magazine mainly had an
instrument or was a close up
shot. I used the instrument
as it fitted with the article
but also it fitted with the
indie style.
7. •Indie/ pop girls and boys have very similar
fashions and tastes so there isn’t much
difference between them meaning I could
use to my advantage and style my magazine
for both parties.
•The artist on the front of the cover
was my way of targeting both men
and women since the female artist
would appeal to both.
•I thought the artists name Urban Melody worked
well since its connecting to different types of
music much like my own magazine, also the name
is interesting and can be used as an acronym UM
which makes it seem more informal.
