  14. 14. I. THE FIRM testimonials “Once we decided to move forward with our restaurant project, our next big decision was choosing an architect that we could work with day in and day out. We needed to find someone that understood our vision and could make sense out of the maelstrom of thoughts and ideas surrounding our pro- ject. As we left the offices of Bluemotif, we knew we had found that someone. Matthew Ellis and his team at Bluemotif have been able to meet and exceed all of our expecta- tions. Their commitment to the project and desire to see every aspect through to com- pletion has been truly comforting.” Jon & Angie Weber The Cowboy Star, San Diego, CA (619) 334-7771 PO Box 3023 San Diego, CA 92163 "Bluemotif identifies with our key business values, design philosophies and environ- mental concerns. We admire and respect their work and creativity so our planning discussions have been inspired. With Bluemotif and our team's combined talents, Harney Sushi Oceanside will be a world- class sushi restaurant offering a timeless experience and built looking towards a "green" future through the use of sustain- able resources." 15. 15. I. THE FIRM testimonials “Matthew Ellis and his project architect, consistently exceeded my expectations in the construction document phase. Dead- lines were consistently met or completed early, allowing ample time for my review. Their anticipation of critical architectural detailing was outstanding, the set of archi- tectural plans drawn thorough and clear, and their coordination of consultants was flawless: rendering a set of drawings that repeatedly impressed our client/contractor. Their knowledge of, and adherence to local codes resulted in minimal and nonconse- quential corrections by the building depart- ment after submittal.” Kathleen Hallahan, Principal VAMU- Kathleen Hallahan, Architect (619) 297-0111 4421 Park Blvd. Unit #208 San Diego, Ca. 92116 “We first worked with (Matthew) when he was at Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle, and he was assigned as a project architect. We are a small design oriented firm that relies on associations with larger architectural firms to do our construction documents. For obvious, and maybe not so obvious reasons, this relationship is often fraught with ten- sion between the design intent and those drawing and detailing, but we can honestly say that when we worked with Matthew in this role, we saw how this relationship could flow. Design intent was followed, the right questions were asked, and responsibility was taken for decisions that needed to be made in a timely fashion. Robert L. Davis, Jr & Laurie P. Bluemotif’s inclusive design process takes the fullest advantage of the project team’s expertise. Bluemotif’s unique ability to discuss, debate, and docu- ment projects in real-time are a tremendous asset, and High Tech High looks forward to many more projects with them.” Christopher Gerber, Architect / LEED™ AP, Director of Facilities at High Tech High High Tech High 858.354.8692 2861 Womble Road San Diego, CA 92106-6025 “Bluemotif was retained for the remodeling of our hotel located at 12th and A Streets in Downtown San Diego. This redevelopment project was a difficult transition from a 1928 unreinforced masonry building into a code compliant hotel. Many issues arose during the development process but Bluemotif’s president Matthew Ellis worked diligently with the City of San Diego and with the contractor to complete this project for occu- pancy. During my work with Bluemotif I have observed their attention to detail and ability to solve challenges encountered dur- ing development and construction." Will Rigley, President W. A. QUALIFICATIONS Relevant projects – current work FELICITA COUNTY PARK DANCE PAVILLION Client: San Diego Parks and Recreation Department Client Project Manager: Vincent Nicoletti (858) 495-5841 Bluemotif Architecture Project Manager: Matthew Ellis (619) 269- 5288 Project Type: Redesign and retrofit of existing structure Value of completed construction: approx. $150,000. The Felicita County Park Dance Pavilion was a retrofit of an existing dilapidated structure at the Felicita County Park. The existing structure was an under-utilized asset of the park, and was in the process of being overhauled by Van Dyke Landscape Architects. Bluemotif was asked to join in the redesign of the pavilion. The design concept for the new structure was to maintain the existing posts and beams while opening the structure up to the canopy of live oak native to the park. This project demonstrates: • Bluemotif Architecture’s ability to work directly with a government agency and their Project Manager • Ability to rehabilitate an existing structure • Sensitivity of the environment • Sensitivity of cultural-ethnic issues • Working within a well-defined scope and budget Project challenges: • Working around the existing site without damaging existing roots of mature live oak. • Using the existing structure (posts) as a basis of design for the new structure. • Constrictive budget. 2311 kettner blvd san diego, ca 92101 p: 619.269.5288 f: 619.269.5289 info@bluemotifarchitecture.com

UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center has replaced an existing utilities infrastructure that feeds the campus from the Central Plant. The Graduate School of Education began as an extension of the High Tech High campus, offering an auditorium, classrooms and administrative support. The new Graduate School of Education Program facility will be a 12,000 square foot; two-story building designed to engage the existing high school. The building will contain an auditorium, pre-function space, art gallery, classrooms, research lounge, faculty quarters, and administration offices. These will augment and enhance the educational concepts inside the building. setting. To this end a living "green wall" is proposed on the southwest face of the building that carries the axis of a pedestrian mall into the vertical surface of the structure. Additionally “Green Building” (LEED) technology will be employed in the design and construction of the facility. LEED certification will be part of the building criteria and many of the LEED components will themselves become part of the educational components of this program. 2311 kettner blvd san diego, ca 92101 p: 619.269.5288 f: 619.269.5289 info@bluemotifarchitecture.com

The concept for Cowboy Star is to marry the Cowboy Stars of old Western Hollywood with a modern restaurant. The restaurant will incorporate graphic elements, photography, and iconography recalling the old west through the ideals of a generation passed. The Roy Rogers motto and the values of John Wayne are underlying themes that make up the restaurants character. Cowboy Star represents how “fine dining meets the Old West.” With a restaurant, bar and retail organic butcher shop, the design caters to a western motif with a contemporary flare where the “old meets new”. Custom architectural detailing is featured throughout, utilizing materials such as leather, black patina hot-rolled steel, stainless steel, stained concrete, wood floors, and resin panels all surrounded by the charm of the existing old brick exterior walls. This engagement between a historic skin and chic interior creates a warm and inviting dining atmosphere. A stunning display kitchen is the focal point of the restaurant while an intimate bar and outdoor patio greet guests as they AWARDS: enter the space. Adjacent to the Orchid, Orchids & Onions Awards, 2008 restaurant, a gourmet butcher shop Gold Medallion, California Restaurant Association offers retail customers prime meat selections and a unique culinary shopping experience. 2311 kettner blvd san diego, ca 92101 p: 619.269.5288 f: 619.269.5289 info@bluemotifarchitecture.com
