CAREER OBJECTIVE
Position in a progressive design-oriented Health-Care facility specialized firm.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Health Care Consulting Architect
DHSR “old DFS”, Dep. of Health and Human Services, Raleigh, N.C. Feb.01-Present
- Review professional architectural work as it relates to the preparation of plans and
specifications for all health, social care and detention type facilities requiring licensure
and/or certification by the state and federal governments. Determine if the project will
meet the minimum requirements established by building codes “IBC / NFPA” and a
specific licensure program by reviewing and inspecting facilities under the division's
regulatory responsibilities including but not limited to hospitals, ambulatory surgeries,
nursing homes, homes for the aged or A. C. Homes, CCRC, and mental health facilities.
Attached is a list of some of the hospital projects that I reviewed and inspected.
- Establish an in-house data base with copy right to be followed by all reviewers for items
that the division is not consistent on. Items are the result of elaborate discussions and
interpretations of different codes and licensure rules with division’s supervisors, code
officials, and healthcare consultants.
- Prepare and lead in-house training for all codes used by the reviewers. These were
mandatory training sessions for all architects and engineers within DHSR. Lead the
architectural part of seminars presented to different healthcare association groups.
In-house Consultant / Community Coordinator
The Coptic Community, Chapel Hill, Winston Salem, NC & Greenville, SC 1997-Present
- Evaluate and analyze church project needs and set up priorities through community
workshops. Hire consultants for major projects and act as the community liaison between
the congregations and the designers. Provide all models, 3D renderings, and walk
through building animations to facilitate the communication and to help the fundraising.
Project Manager / Senior Project Architect
EDI Architecture Inc., Houston, TX January 07- April 07
- Quality control tasks for an international high-rise building. Tasks included project
architects’ supervision, behaving as in-house code consultant, communication with
different consultants in US and Europe, approval from out of country code officials for
every project phase, participation of major decisions in assisting the client and the
developer. Other tasks were essential like a complete comparison between the French
code and IBC, specifying commonly used materials in France and Africa that meet both
applicable code requirements, creating walkthrough animations and 3D renderings to
facilitate communication between owner, developer, and the different design teams.
