How Fast Food Is Addictive
When it comes to the topic of fast food, most of us will readily agree that it's unhealthy. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether it causes addiction. While some are
convinced that it doesn't, others are convinced that advertisements help brain wash the new
generation. Along with the chemicals added to the fast food to help contribute to the addiction cycle.
My own view is that fast food is addictive. In my point of view fast food is addictive because it
seems that the more fast food we eat, our body tends to carve more food. Something that they put
into fast food is a lot of chemicals, some way I can notice this is leaving a French fry laying down
for several days and nothing happens to it, it doesn't change but if you leave a homemade French fry
it gets moldy and ugly. Fast food can cause very bad health, which can lead to diabetes, cholesterol
and even bad blood pressure. There has been cases were too much fast food causes obesity and can
lead to heart attacks or something even worse like death because the heart gets covered by all that
fat and leads to death. The chemicals that are put into the fast food is something that gets us the
consumers addictive because the chemicals that they put make our system addictive to whatever
they use in their fast food. As the new generation sees toys then they the children want to go there
and McDonalds even has a clown so that makes the children want to go and will they are playing

Egocentric Perspective Analysis
Many People throughout their lives never try to understand or change how they see the world.
Although this was true for me, I made a change to try and see others viewpoints. It was easily one of
the most difficult introspective change I have ever done, mostly because I only saw things as black
and white. This was probably due to my inexperience of others/ignorance and because I was too
stubborn to believe that anyone other than me was right. But it wasn't these factors or thoughts alone
that determined how I was, or am to be. The other factors were simply me being kind of sheltered
and not knowing about others situations. The main factors that led me to overcome these obstacles
of egocentric thinking was due to my parents, sports, and world ... Show more content on

Sports were always a way for me to escape reality and go into something better, and really have fun.
Although there is always one year where I was getting stressed out more about making varsity. But
as I went and did more and more sports I overcame this stress because of all the friends I have made
through these sports. Now although sports are great, there was a greater lesson I learned because of
sports. Remember me telling you about making friends from sports, well those friends would tell me
about their home life, or difficulties they had. The stuff they told me about their lives was
incomprehensible to me, mainly their father/family problems (arrests or deaths). After hearing these
situations I realized my life was a good one, I had a good family, and a house to live in. But the
effect their life–stories had on me was profound, I realized everyone's situations are different, and I
realized I should try to understand others more and not judge them on outside appearances. Plus I
made some of my greatest friends doing these sports, who of which would push me to become a
better person and really understand others and try to become a friend to anyone. But although I try
to become a friend to all, it is easier said than done, mostly because I'm human. So now because of
sports I have tried to judge others less and listen to them and get to know

The Guerrilla Girls By Valeria Napoleone Xx And Co Curator...
'Is it even worse in Europe?' the Guerrilla Girls' latest exhibition questions and examines todays art
museums in Europe on the controversial subject of diversity. This exhibition was supported by
Valeria Napoleone XX and Co–curator Nayia Yiakoumaki in helping the feminist group exhibit their
work at the Whitechapel gallery.
Revisiting back to their past project in 1986, the 'It's even worse in Europe' exhibition which
targeted mainstream art museum directors and artists, the Guerrilla Girls come back in 2016 to
question whether their original statistics have shifted over time.
Areas that the Guerrilla Girls particularly engage in are the cases of feminism, racism and sexism
particularly situated around the arts.
With this project, we wanted to pose the question 'Are museums today presenting a diverse history
of contemporary art or the history of money and power?' We focus on the understory, the subtext,
the overlooked and the downright unfair. Art can't be reduced to the small number of artists who
have won a popularity contest among bigtime dealers, curators and collectors. Unless museums and
Kunsthallen show as diverse as the cultures they claim to represent, they're just preserving the
history of wealth and power. ("Whitechapel gallery – Guerrilla Girls" web).
When approaching the Whitechapel Gallery in London, I was instantaneously drawn to the iconic,
bold banners mounted up on the gallery building, along with images pasted on the windows showing

Surviving Dorm Life Without Your Mom
Surviving Dorm Life Without Your Mom
Do you remember when you were little and being sick meant a day of staying home watching TV?
When did the mentality switch from "Yes, I get to stay home" to "It is just a little cough, I am sure I
am fine"? Everyone experiences illness at some point in his or her life. Most people get their first
illness when they are young children and the best part about it is there is parental figure there to take
care of them while you stay home. Parents bring you food, medicine, blankets, and do anything to
make you feel comfortable. Then, one day, you decide to go off to college and be an adult. Well, it
turns out that being an adult is not as much fun as you thought. It starts one night when you wake up
lying in your dorm bed with a fiery fever and all you can think is "I would do anything to make it
stop." The next day, your throat is burning, nose is running, there is a splitting pain in your head, and
your muscles feel like you ran a marathon the day before. It is then that you realize that, as
invincible as you are, you are sick. Being sick is bad, and being sick in a dorm room is even worse.
The feeling of helplessness and abandonment creep in along with your miserable symptoms but here
are eight steps that will help you survive sickness in college without someone to take care of you.
First, even when you have the slightest signs of being sick, do not ignore them. It is the easiest to
recover from sickness if you are just starting to get

The Effects of a Teenage Wasteland
Anne Tyler's "Teenage Wasteland" is a story about a modern day family of four and the relationship
issues they experienced with each other. The story is presented in third person limited; however, the
reader is shown much about how the mother of the family feels and the troubles she experiences in
her relationships with her husband and children, primarily her son Donny. Daisy is portrayed as a
mother who worries that she had failed Donny because of his continual disobedience toward the
authority figures in his life. Donny is a teen who constantly misbehaves in school and in the story is
described as "noisy, lazy, and disruptive; always fooling around with his friends, and would not
respond in class." (188). These behaviors lead Donny to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children have a lot to say and parents have to remember to stop and listen to their child and then
maybe offer suggestions and ideals. Recognize how the child feels and acknowledge the flaws the
child has. Nobody is perfect. Realizing the imperfections of the child helps a parent better
understand the type of encouragement and guidance the child might need to become a more
productive adolescent. Secondly, patience is another key component to an effective parent–child
relationship. Some parents assume that if a child isn't doing so well in school, the child will struggle
with learning all his or her life. A parent must understand that one failure does not mean a child is
made to be a failure. Having patience and allowing your child time to do better will help him or her
grow up to be more of a well rounded adult. In "teenage wasteland" Daisy struggles with self worth.
She ponders at night on where she went wrong in Donny's life. She even admits that she wishes she
could start over and give Donny more attention. "Given one more chance, she'd do it perfectly–hug
him more, praise him more, or perhaps praise him less." (190). Daisy's patience fails when Donny
becomes stubborn and narcissistic and she allows another person (his tutor) to parent and guide
Donny. A parent knows their child best but must remember to be patient with the child while he or
she is developing into an adult. Finally, discipline is another important parenting value. Discipline

Essay On School Day
I woke up as if it were any other typical school day, forcing myself out of bed. I threw on the pitch
black shirt I had laying beside me and the denim jeans laying on my cold tile floor from last night.
Reluctantly, I brushed my hair and then my teeth. Suddenly, chronic pains shot through my lower
back and to my abdomen. My head pounding, I realized I hadn't had any water for a few days. Sharp
pains all over, I started to feel worse and worse as the clock in the top left corner of my bedroom
ticked. I stumbled my way to the kitchen, trying to hold myself up on anything I could grab. I
struggled to get a glass out of the cabinet and fill it with water from the sink. After I crawled my
way back to my room, I laid on the floor, unable to pull myself up onto the bed. A few seconds went
by before I shut my eyes and passed out.
Hours later I woke up feeling even worse than I had before. Luckily, my aunt was stuck at home
after getting sandwiched between two cars just outside of Taylor. Upon arriving at our house, my
aunt decided to stay and take care of me, every hour or so checking my temperature and bringing me
a fresh glass of ice water. She told my family I was fine and getting better, although I knew I was
getting much worse. And after hearing the news from my aunt that I was getting better, my mom
didn't believe her and she called me to ask how I was doing. I told her I was feeling worse and that I
needed to go to the hospital. She responded, "Ok. I will be there as soon as

I 'm Sorry, David
"I'm sorry, David." Her voice breaking the morning silence, the only noises coming from the busy
south Boston streets. A little less hectic than an ordinary August day, as it was 5:45 AM on the
Friday before Labor Day. And that meant that many people would be taking the long weekend to
head down to Cape Cod. I was too hung–over to reply with words but uttered something incoherent.
The brightness, which was eye–piercing due to the surrounding buildings' sun reflection, filled the
space in my overpriced apartment. It was a little too nice for someone with only a third year
consultant job, but some extra family money never hurt anybody. "I really have to go. You know I
can't be late. Not again." She remained wrapped up in my arms, half ... Show more content on

She really had the full package put together. Face, body, brains and she came from money, a lot of it.
Her hourglass curves complemented by her long, straight dirty blonde hair that fell just below her
shoulder blades. Everything about starting the day right now felt so wrong. I could feel her heat
beating slowly in rhythm with my own. Almost like it was my natural way of responding to her
presence. This was the first time I have ever felt that butterfly feeling that everyone always talks
about when falling in love, even though I don't really believe any of that stuff. The sensation of her
cuddled up next to me, pressing her body as close to mine as physically possible, caused all of my
worries about the day to disappear just like that. There was no place that I would rather be. With her
head resting on my chest as she was still cuddled up against me, she gave me that look with her
golden brown eyes that would make the lyrics to Marvin Gaye's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
true for me. For a brief moment everything seemed to stop, until she quickly pressed her soft lips
against mine. Breaking the kiss to stretch her arms out before she hopped out of my bed and skipped
along to the bathroom around the corner. Ten minutes later she was dressed and ready to jump on the
Redline to head one stop from West Broadway to Washington Street. She wasn't one of those girls to
take forever to get ready. Then again she didn't really have a need for

Quotes From The Elevator By William Sleator
Martin, the main character of "The elevator", is afraid of elevators. His situation got even worse
when he moved into his new apartment with his dad. The apartment was old and dirty. The elevator
that was in their building could only hold three people. The stairs were just as bad. They were dark
and dirty as well. To make matters worse, they lived on the seventeenth floor. Later on in the story,
Martin breaks his leg and is forced to ride the elevator. Martin's dad thinks he's being a coward and
makes fun of him in a way. His dad doesn't think he should worry about this woman and doesn't
really listen to what Martin says about this lady who always stares at him in the elevator. In William
Sleator's "The Elevator," readers learn that you should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This all started when Martin started using the elevator. He always saw her staring at him, so he
became uncomfortable and saw her as if she was threatening. The lady wore dirty clothes and had an
appearance as if she was poor. "She wore a threadbare green coat that ballooned around her; her
ankles bulged above her dirty sneakers, Martin was sure he felt it sink under her weight" (Sleator
28). To show this scene, the author uses specific detail. This helps lead to the theme by showing how
he noticed her from her appearance and the way she acted that she wasn't innocent. Martin is afraid
because he isn't sure if this lady is a danger to him. Another incident where Sleator used specific
detail is "Coming home from school the day after they moved in, Martin tried the stairs. But they
were almost as bad. Windowless, shadowy, with several dark landings where the light bulbs had
burned out" (Sleator 27). This showed specific detail, while still showing the theme, always be

Personal Narrative
On November 19th, 2016, My family and I were going to Western Michigan University. We were
heading off to watch the football and hockey game, my father told me it would take a few hours.
Hours went flying by it felt like we were in a race car, we finally arrived hours later. We went
straight to the dining area, it smelled like fresh made pasta and many more thrilling smells. As we
made our way through the crowd, we found a table to sit at. Afterwards when we found a seat, we
went darting off in many directions to look at all the food stations. Few minutes passed by when we
all swarm like bees back to the table. We all seated and started eating, we talked about what we got
for food.
"What did you guys all get" my dad had said
"I got a grilled cheese" I said
" Me and Adrienne got spaghetti" mom my said
"So hudson what did you get to eat...?"
"Oh um...I got a hamburger and some fries "
Afterwards we started talking about the adventure we are going to have today. Well, little did I know
it was an adventure for me. We left the dining area, and we went to the gift/book store that they
have. We went in and looked around, minutes went by like birds taking flight. I was walking with
my mom and sister, and all a suddenly like lightning hit my stomach, and started hurting really bad.
But little did my family know, that it would end the fun later on. It felt like a million of needles were
poking into my stomach. I tried to hold up and keep calm, but then I broke down like a

Epilogue: Lorien woke up as as he did every day and went down to the dining area where his mother
and sister, Maria and Silvia, were sitting and eating that day 's catch given to them by the local
hunters. They were almost ready with Lorien's share when he came down. "Good morning brother,
we didn't think you would wake up with time to eat before reading to the kids," Silvia spoke in a
casual elven slang. "Silvia, you know I don't like you speaking like that, if you are going to speak

They didn't have enough time to lock in another arrow before I slashed them with my twin daggers
(made of dragon teeth). The remaining orcs ran knowing full well their fate if they were to stay. As I
checked for life, I saw the weapons they used. Elven weapons and Elven arrows. I screamed in fury,
and as I did that, the room caught on fire, and I had to leave the bodies of the children in the blaze. I
cried as I left Lothlorien, and after about two days, I stopped in front of the city Goult and entered
looking for someone to help me in my quest to avenge Lothlorien and its inhabitants who were
slaughtered along with my pride. After a while of rest in front of the city, a dragon loomed over me,
and as I looked up it started descending . Then it spoke, "My, my. What do we have here, a fire in
the forest and a sulking wood elf?" I was shocked as it spoke of what happened as if it were
omnipotent. "Who are you, and how do you know why I'm here?" I asked sheepishly and under a
whimper. "My name is Luster, and I saw you running through the forest and crying for the many lost
Lothlorien lives." As a couple hours passed, in silence, his shadow helped me get to where his rider
was. He said, "My rider is at the local bar and he and his friends might help if the reason is good
enough." As I got to the bar, the smell of the city kept getting worse and worse by the second. I

Bullying
What is bullying? Bullying is everywhere. It is a horrible activity that destroys people's happiness
and life. Bullying is very negative and creates major problems for our society. Nothing good comes
out of bullying. In fact, it ruins many people's lives. Kids can be mentally scarred if they are teased
often. Even worse, they can be killed or fatally injured if the bullying gets extreme. Bullying must
be stopped or prevented no matter how long it will take; it is a deeply concerning matter. Bullying
does not always have to be childish play, but it can be extremely violent. People may be bruised,
injured, or even killed. There are so many different kinds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However; in this article, there is an important point that we should look back is that one girl stood
up to a group of guys who were picking on the Bird. That is a good deed we should learned to stand
up or against the group of bad people who always tease other people in a wrong way.
Bullies themselves sometimes deliberately hurt other children physically. "Rowing the bus"– Paul
Logan, is one of examples about bullying when it gets worse. The author wrote about his life when
he was in elementary school. He was a "perfect target" for the others kids to tease. He was made to
row the bus. "...on the way to school I had to sit in the dirty bus aisle littered with paper, gum wads,
and spitballs" that was what he was forced to do by a group of bullies in his school. He was a small
boy and had no father so that his mother had to work very hard to support him. He used to wear the
clothes that his mother got from the donation at a local church. He feared that he might wear the
clothes that used to belong with his classmates. A problem he faced at school was that he had a hard
time to learn to say the "s" sound properly and "pronounced words that began with "th" as if they
began with a "d.". He would become a target that everyone would laugh at him. "For four years,
from second to fifth grade, I prayed nightly for God to give me school days in which I would not be
insulted, embarrassed, or made to feel ashamed" that was what he was doing every night before he

The Worst Month Ever It was around mid to late March, and I received some terrifying news. My
grandma wasn't doing too well. She has been struggling with lung disease because she has smoked
for a very long time. There was no one to take care of her because my uncle works all the time, so
my dad had to go sit with my grandma just in case something bad happened. About a week or two
later it was around Easter and we went to see my grandma at her house. When we arrived, I was
very nervous. I thought she would be on her death bed or something, but she seemed fine! The
hospice nurse said her oxygen cable was just disconnected, so they reconnected it. I was glad she

It was around fourth period when I left. When I arrived, I was terrified that I was going to walk in

later, she woke up. She acted normal again! I was still nervous because her mom did the same thing
before she passed. I went home that night and I prayed. I was still being selfish. I did not realize that
if God still kept her here that there would be a chance she would not be well like before.
A couple of days later, I went to see her again. She was awake, but she was talking out of her head
again. I was in her living room and I walked into her room and she asked me what I was doing. I
told her I was watching TLC. After I told her, she told me that I was watching men. I was confused,
but I remembered that she was not in her right mind. While I was sitting beside her, she told me told
put the lid on her Mountain Dew bottle, so I did. Then she asked me to do it again and again, even
though it was already screwed on. I went to the living room. I started believing that she is ready to
go home to God, so when I got home that night, I prayed and prayed. I told God that I wanted him to
take her to the kingdom of Heaven, so she would not be in pain. One thing I didn't know was that
night would be the last time I would get to see her. She passed away three days after the night I went
to see her.

Argumentative Essay On Online Dating
Online dating can be dangerous in many ways, so be careful who find attractive online. Most people
fall one main reasons; the profile picture. It can be tricky when it seems like a nice person on the
profile picture, but they have no photos of themselves on their page, or even worse; they use a whole
new identity with pictures of that one person.
Although I may have thought "oh ok she's cute", I am smart enough to know they aren't who they
really say they are. It may seem like an obvious catch, but don't be fooled, they can get you pretty
good. Dangerous people use the internet now in days to do pretty much anything from getting you
kidnapped, or even worse," killed".
The other bad reasons for online dating is liars. The person you admire over social media may get
your attention and draw you in, and ends with a disaster. This type of online trap method is
commonly used, it allows the predator to hide their background, and even criminal records. Some
find true love through social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc. These apps, as we
call them today, can be online dating fails. You may live a couple years or months together, but once
you unleash a side of that online soulmate you met, who knows what they are capable of doing.
Once you hit their breaking point; they may have intensions on murdering you (not for all), but
looking online for a soulmate can be a desperate thing to do In some eyes. I say this because instead
of actually meeting or knowing before they date; most jump straight into a relationship based off
their online appearance. That's not a smart idea at all. Based on the video we viewed in class, online
dating can also be a waste of time. Although you might get replies and pictures from that individual,
it can be a long time–waster. When you've been texting and talking to someone that's far away from
you, you're going to eventually want to meet them later on in the long distance relationship.
There are some pretty desperate people in this world, you can say. Whether it's a he or she; their
ability to change their voice while on the phone can be endless. Watching the film made me open
my eyes even more to social media. When you actually

Eulogy For Emma Essay
Let's talk skincare. One thing I've battled with ever since I was a teenager is acne; thankfully I didn't
have it very severely but I struggled with it on my forehead as a teen, and then again all over my
face after coming off the pill in late 2011. Going on the pill at 19 really helped regulate my skin and
keep the acne away but since I started getting pregnant, breastfeeding, getting pregnant again...and
again (!) hormones have wreaked havoc with my face and it hasn't been fun to deal with, to say the
least.
Then in May of this year I miscarried and I experienced breakouts like I'd never had before. I felt
like my face had suddenly exploded with cystic, sore and painful spots which would not go away no
matter what I did. That summer was a pretty dark time, as going through something that painful is

Summary Of Civil Peace '
"Civil Peace" is a story of faith. It is a story to which I know that the events and experiences that the
main character, Jonathan, experiences can directly relate to my own life, as well as my opinions on
my view of the world. "Nothing puzzles God" (Achebe) is what Jonathan says continually
throughout the story. This shows his opinions on what has happened in his life so far, and how he
feels he should react to what happens. For his great amount of faith is shown throughout the story,
and I feel as though I am much like that of Jonathan.

. I am interested in this topic because I feel like I can relate to the main character, Jodee and what
she goes through. 3. The purpose of reading this book is to understand what it is like to be bullied,
an outcast and the effects of getting picked on and shut out. People, especially teenagers, should
read this book to understand what kids go through, and what they could be doing to their fellow
peers and how bad it really is to be bullied.
4. The theme of this book is when kids bully or pick on other kids they think it's a joke. No one is

II. Thesis Statement: The fear of missing out, more commonly know as FOMO, is a phobia that has
affected people throughout generations, infiltrating into all areas of our lives.

With an obsession with out work, we can miss out on moments with our families and friends, and as
cheesy as it sounds, fail to enjoy life.
[Transition: Next, let's see why this fear of missing out is so prevalent in our day to day lives in the
modern era.]
II. FOMO has such a strong presence in so many lives because of our addiction to social media.
A. Harris Interactive did a study, which found that 62 percent of Americans said that they constantly
check their social media because they were afraid of missing out. Forty percent said that they would
rather do their taxes, get a root canal, or even go to jail before they deleted their social media
accounts. (Tinsley, "FOMO Trumps FOPL With American Adults")
B. Think about what you post on social media. Most people tend to post mostly the highlights of
their lives, so when we are constantly living in these perfect virtual worlds, we tend to feel like our
lives are inferior due to the lack of reality.
[Transition: I think it is safe to say that we all experience FOMO, so what effect does it have on our

have so many benefits is ruining children's experiences in physical activities, because of a stress and
pressure induced life due to busy schedules and intense training hours, and it is getting kids into
terrible injuries and many are not even able to participate in these activities because of the high cost

many other parents look at the cost that they have to pay for their children to enroll in competitive

misleading given how few children who participate in youth sports actually go on to even play

children can be teased at school for not participating in an athletic

Positive Keys To Anne Frank
Positive Keys Anne Frank was a really positive person even in some of the darkest times. "Think of
all the beauty still left around you and be happy,"– Anne Frank. A vast majority of people approach
conflicts and situations negatively. Still, one of the best ways to approach any situation in with a
positive attitude, at least, in my opinion. Being positive can create a better outlook in life and a
wonderful living for any individual. All you need to do is change the way you see the world.
Changing the way you see the world can change many things for a single person, who can spread it
to others through sheer positive emotions. Positivity is contagious.

Rosa once said, "I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes
fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear." She is saying that if you keep your mind in
a positive frame for so long, you can be better to yourself and others. You can be a better person to
yourself and keep things in line. It can also give you a sense of control over some situations, make
you feel you can make change. Being able to find yourself in control can be really calming to some
people. It creates a sense of self aware, reality, calmness. Many different forms of the words in

On the other hand, people chose to respond with negativity. Using their emotions to help let out a

that are held up can cause one to believe the self destruct button is the only way out. If they cannot
express themselves by emotional means, they cannot set themselves apart from the grief that has

The Importance Of Homework On Your Own Words
Describe your stressful circumstance in your own words.
During the school year, homework tends to consume my life. Though the intention of homework is

The Benefits Of Negative Visualization By Oliver Burkeman
Throughout generations people believed that having positive visualizations can make situations
better, but when you are in a situation that gives you a negative outcome you become devastated. In
the essay "The Benefits of "Negative Visualization"' Oliver Burkeman discussed how negative
visualization is more likely to make people happier than positive visualization. Burkeman supported
that negative visualization makes an individual happier rather than positive visualization; he
supported this claim by describing how spending time and focusing how well things would go
reduces one's motivation to achieve their goal, having tranquility would give individuals the
opportunity to focus on negative emotions, positive thinkers are less prepared and more acutely
distressed, "negative visualization" causes less stress, and being prepared for the to the worse–case
scenario helps establish what to expect. When using negative visualization, it would be beneficial to
use it to prepare oneself for the worse–case scenarios and to reduce both fear and anxiety. In regards
to Burkeman's position, I can relate to the information he is presenting and apply it to my personal
life. Therefore, I can strongly agree with his point of view that negative visualization is more likely
to make an individual happier than positive visualization.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Technology
Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology Technology has changed every aspect of our lives,
whether it was for the better or for the worse. It has a positive impact on our lives because it allows
us to connect more with people that are farther away, and it grants us access to information about
anything. Unfortunately, it has changed our lives for the worse, too, it makes us over dependent on
technology, and it leads to a decline in face to face conversations. Technology that is constantly in
our face changes the way we think and carry out our everyday lives. For example, when you are
standing in a room full of people instead of conversing with others you would take out your phone
and engage yourself in this world that you have created. Integrated computers can benefit our daily
lives, because it allows us to resurface old information that was part of the old conversation
allowing a more personal conversation. The downside of this is that it could also resurface old fights
that you might have had. All of these positives or negatives can be seen in Black Mirror, Her, Our
Computers Ourselves, and Crispr Radiolab. The positive impact that technology plays on our lives is
that it allows us to connect with people that are far away from us, whether it be via email, phone
calls, or any form of social media. This is a good thing because generations before us who didn't
have the telephone or any other form of communication to talk to relatives far away would live their

A Short Story : The Story Of A Story
I could feel the stinging tears swelling up, I tried to hold them back, but with this pain I couldn't
hold them back anymore, and I felt a tear roll down my red cheeks. All I thought was that my arm
could be broken and even worse have wooden shards sticking out of my arm. I was so upset because
I was in so much pain and all my brother and best friend at the time could do was laugh at me. But if
i'm going to tell this story right, I have to go back to the beginning. It all started when I was at the
park behind my house with my best friend at the time, Maria. We were just hanging out and
watching my brother, Chase, play golf in the large field connected to the park. When he was done
playing he walked over to us; "Whats up guys?" He said while walking up, " nothing much we're
just chill and talking" "cool" he started to hang out with us, while we were hanging out me and
Maria were playing with one of his golf clubs. While we were messing around, we ended up
throwing it in one of the trees in the park. He was upset and tried to get it by climbing the tree and
grabbing it, but the tree was too slippery that he slipped and fell on his back. He couldn't reach it so
he decided to have us assist him and try to get it. "Can u guys please help me get it, since you were
the ones who threw it up there." "Ok, fine we will help you." "Good get on my shoulders." "Actually
i'm going to get on the slide then get on your shoulders" "Ok come on" We walked over to the slide
and I got on top of it but as soon as I was up he had the idea; " Maria you should actually get on the
slide because no offence shawna but she is lighter and could get boasted up more." "Oh none taken
she's smaller and younger so she obviously is" I said " ok" said Maria After we all agreed he didn't
even hesitate a second for me to get off, he just pushed me with all his force and I ended up falling
off the slide. When I fell I landed on my arm when I tried to get up and I noticed that there were
wooden shards sticking out of my arm. I couldn't get up I grabbed my arm and as soon as my fingers

Nihilism In Yevgeny Vasilievich Bazarov's Fathers And Sons
In the novel, "Fathers and Sons", the character Yevgeny Vasilievich Bazarov is perceived to be a
strong headed, and intelligent Nihilist who is not afraid to express his beliefs on anyone that dares to
question and challenge him about it. He is first introduced in the story by Arkady as a great friend
and gives a nice wrap in the first few chapters of the story; giving his father and himself the title of a
doctor, "who had a special capacity for winning the confidence of lower–class people and indeed
treated them casually"(15). But the story changes him quite a bit when they reveal what he is,
Nihilist, who recognizes, nor respects nothing and "regards everything from (a) critical point of
view"(17). Due to this given trait of nihilism, and the way he carries his opinions out to others, I
believe the novel plays more against Bazarov rather than for him. Ever since the introduction of him
being a Nihilist, Bazarov has been recognized in the story as rude, judgemental, aggressive and
hypocritical towards the majority of the characters in the book. His beliefs have also caused him to
break bonds, and turned a friendship sour with Arkady. An example of this bond breaking moment
could be his moments with Pavel Petrovitch Kirsanov: despite not even having a type of friendly
relationship or any to begin with, Bazarov just creates tension between him and Pavel, as he
demonstrates his views to Pavel and Nikolai. Throughout the Bazarov's discusses in chapter 6, he

How To Write A Letter From John Chapter 5 Letter
September 6, 1620. Today is the day we all leave for the New World. I'm curious, and a bit afraid, to
see if it is really what everybody expects it to be. John, my three year old son, is staying in Europe.
As a mother, I feel that he will be much safer there. The new world, at this point in time, is no place
for a young child. I doubt it is a place where even the strongest of men will survive. Without my
husband William, God bless his soul, I would not be leaving Europe. My husband is a very religious
man, and in Europe, his beliefs are looked down upon. A stubborn man he is indeed, will not take no
for an answer and must have his religious freedom he so desires.
Because William believes that everything that happens, happens because God ... Show more content

October 17, 1620. I haven't had much time to write about my experiences within these past few
weeks. There have been so many sick travellers on this boat, me being one of them at times. I have
been so sick from the travel that I have barely been able to move at times. Not too long ago, I saw a

us that we should be safe until we land, but I'm not so sure about that anymore.
October 25, 1620. As I have stated before, I find myself in my thoughts more often than not.
Although this is still true, it seems to be getting worse. I realized that I have began talking to myself,
and my husband has noticed me blankly staring at random objects sometimes. Some people believe
it to be the work of the devil trying to stop us from reaching our new home, but William, and a few
other passengers have convinced them that I am safe. I still wonder sometimes if I am being
controlled by the devil.

Character Analysis Of Lavaughn's 'Make Lemonade'
LaVaughn, the main character in Make lemonade, also has a greatly changing identity throughout
the book as well. Unlike Jolly, LaVaughn has a mother, but similarly to Jolly she doesn't have a
father. This may contribute to LaVaughn's identity changes throughout the book since she does not
have a fatherly figure in her life. Although with LaVaughn her identity is more affected by how
others view her, and not by how she feels. We get one of our first looks into LaVaughan's identity
shortly after she talks to Jolly about having the job.
"The building was broken–down looking, / it was even worse place than where we live... / This
Jolly's apartment is disorderly and it smells / But I can see right away there's a lot causing it... / I'm
standing in their smelly apartment / looking over the way things are going to be,... / Jolly turn out to
be 17. I could still say No / just as quick as Jeremy did about my name. (6–7pg) / The way Jolly said
"I can't repeats in my mind." (18 Wolff)
In this first quote we see how LaVaughn sort of looks down on Jolly since she doesn't have her life
together, but at the same time she feels pity for her and wants to help her. The reader can tell that
LaVaughn looks down on Jolly because of the author's word choice. For example, how the author
writes "It was even worse place than where we live" and "I could still say no". It seems as if
LaVaughn is sort of comapring herself with Jolly, but then ten pages later Virginia Wolff shows how
LaVaughn wants to help

Analysis Of Black Out By Robison Wells
"Black Out" by Robison Wells is an action packed novel full of twists and turns. We are thrown right
into the commotion when a series of deadly attacks sweep across the United States, Aubrey and Jack
think that they'll be safe because they reside in a remote town named Mount Pleasant in the heart of
Utah. But when Alec and Laura who are at the centre of the attacks step into Utah, lives throughout
not only this state but the whole nation will be affected. Within this novel one important character
who showed forgiveness and resilience throughout the text was Jack Cooper. The setting in which
Jack was tossed into was also a huge role in the development of his skills and composure. One
important character who displayed a range of important qualities such as forgiveness, composure
and resilience in the novel was Jack Cooper. Jack was just an average teenage boy living in the heart
of Utah boring his socks off. But this would all change when the nearby Lake Mead would come
under attack forcing Utah and the entire nation to go into lockdown. What made this situation even
worse was that the armed attackers were said to be teenagers with supernatural powers of some sort.
This forced the government to collect all teenager ranging from 12 – 20, then deporting them to
army facilities for further testing to try and determine if they were somehow involved in any of the
attacks. But for Jack he wasn't going to settle with this so he decided to flee, making a run from the
government and army trying to better himself. Shortly after taking off on this journey Jack came
along a past friend named Aubrey Parsons whom was also on the run. Aubrey and Jack used to be
extremely close, but slipped apart as Aubrey was too 'cool' now to hang out with him. Despite the
fact that earlier on in life Aubrey had turned her back big time on Jack he was still willing to now
stick by her side and help her also escape the grasp of the government. This example shows us how
Jack can forgive someone even though they have turned backs on him before. I also think that this
shows that Jack is a soldier as he can brush things off and put them aside to not only better himself
but also those around him. After Aubrey and Jack had settled things between

Personal Narrative : The Story Of Bullying In Elementary...
Imagine a kid, a year older than you, but in your grade level because he was retained. He is
annoying, overweight, starting to grow a moustache in elementary school, unathletic, and has
behavior issues. Your teacher even puts a "restraining order" on you two. And your best friend is
also his best friend, of the two or three he has. Now, that immature child starts to intimidate you. Do
you fight back? Or do you turn him in to the principal for bullying?
Since I have absolutely no common sense and I am not the nicest person when I am angry, I chose
the former. So, this day–in and day–out exchange of words and actions continued throughout the
year until one fateful day in March. Our principal, Mr. Traster, came out and interrupted our recess
and escorted me into his office. It was a nice office, with glass windows and comfortable, maroon,
rolly–chairs. It seemed to me that the office should make you feel better. However, it only made me
feel even worse.
"So, tell me what has been going on with you and Ibrahim this year," Mr. Traster said, referring to
the kid I mentioned earlier.
"Uh, he started to consistently annoy me. I told him to stop. He could not put the filter on his big,
runny mouth. In an effort to get him to stop, I started to annoy him. I am not sure why this point is
just now coming across because it started all the way back in September," I mentioned.
"And why did you not tell someone about this before you retaliated?" He inquired.
"Well, my math and science teacher, Mrs. Davis, put a 5–person barrier between us, or at least tried.
Ibrahim kept cutting the line to get behind me without my permission while everyone was howling
at him to go to the back of the line. And the only thing he did behind me was intentionally,
consistently give me flat tires, spit raspberries on me, mock me, and other annoying stuff. My social
studies and English teacher, Mr. Selzer, just gave him 4s and 3s (We had a 5,4,3,2,1–point system
for behavior–with 5 being good behavior and 1 being automatic suspension. We got 1 point taken
off every time we misbehaved in the period). His parents did not care about his behavior unless it
resulted in being expelled, being suspended, or things of that nature," I responded.

Should Students Be Allowed To Play After School Sports?
What if the only positive environment for students is out on the field or in the gym? For many
students, sports are the only positive after school program. If students have to have passing grades in
school, before they can play sports, it could lead to students roaming the streets and making poor
choices. Therefore, students must be allowed to play after school sports. It will decrease youth
violence, and bad behavior. In the same way, students would benefit having physical activity to keep
them healthy.
If students couldn't go to after school sports because they have to pass their classes first, it would
increase violence. Students would have bad behavior because they could start selling or doing drugs.
Instead of having after school sports, many students have nothing to do after school. Many of them
would start selling drugs, including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, molly, or other types of drugs.
According to the article, "Bad grades? Some schools OK with it", a youth states, "Without sports, 'I
would probably be out selling drugs or shooting people.'" This quote shows that many students,
instead of doing sports, would be out getting into trouble. In other words, tons of students would be
selling drugs if they got kicked off their sports team for having bad grades. Not only the loss of
sports cause kids to sell drugs, but also, they could end up in worse situations. Students, when
kicked off the team, react in harsh ways, such as, ending up in jail or even

Gilead And Powerlessness
Most people feel powerless. They don't think they can affect larger events because they don't have
money or political power. This makes many people not even try, instead acting selfishly, looking
after themselves above the greater good. Offred is an exemplar of this phenomenon. She represents
an average person, who feels powerless, and largely acts in self interest. This makes her, and
everybody who thinks like her, complicit in Gilead's rise. Their feeling of powerlessness does not
justify their selfishness. Throughout the book Offered thinks she is powerless. When Gilead was
forming, she "never went to any of the marches" resisting its rise, ostensibly because she thought it
wouldn't matter. (180). Her reaction is a common one, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a very human response. She is values her comfort over everybody else's, and instinct that is
very strong in all of us. It is also an incredibly selfish instinct, and in this case, Offred falling victim
to it makes Gilead stronger. Emotions continue to be a strong force in driving Offred's selfishness,
specifically when Serena Joy gives her a photo of her daughter in return for seeing Nick. "I can't let
go of this hope" she says, referring to her hope that her daughter is somehow ok after everything that
happened (206). Of course she values this hope, any parent would. However, from a rational
perspective, it is a very selfish decision. That photo gives her hope, a feeling that makes her feel
good. It doesn't help her daugter of anybody else. The only way to do that would be to weaken
Gilead, which she could have done if she had instead demanded some information from Serena Joy
that Mayday could use. Most people would make the same choice as her, me included. Those
emotions are incredibly hard to resist. However, they still make us act selfishly, and in the process,
make the world a worse place. In many ways, Offred and everyone like her are why Gilead exists.
They didn't resist Gilead's rise, didn't band together, and looked out for themselves and their loved
ones above the great good. Atwood is telling use that regimes do not rise in back rooms or on the

dehydration. They only give me enough water to stay alive, nothing more. As for food, I'm steadily
losing weight. I'm all skin and bones, and colors. I've tried to excape exactly thirty–two and a half
times. Then they got tired of my antics and chained me to the wall. I have enough room to go about
my business, but not enough room to be free. Some of the other prisoners have cell–mates. They
decided that I was too dangerous and put me in solitary confinement. I've forgotten how to talk
because I have no reason to use my voice. I used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Foolish human girls do not defeat gods. There really is no other way this could have ended." He
brings his face close to mine and puts his hateful lips against my ear. His skin is freezing. "I'm going
to kill you," he whispers, and his breath is like ice. "I will spill your blood at the foot of my throne,

Negative Effects Of The Internet
It has been theorized for basically as long as the Internet has been publicly available, that being
online can make you seriously, clinically depressed. It's not an assertion made without evidence, as
numerous surveys of infrequent–to–addicted internet users show a positive correlation between their
number of web surfing hours logged and their feelings of sadness, isolation, and alienation
afterward. Some critics say that heavy use of the internet more than doubles a person's chance of
being depressed; others say that the internet might not be depression's trigger so much as it is its
refuge.
I highly recommend people read this article as it shows us facts about the damages to our brain and
feelings from being on the internet or a mobile device constantly. I think people should read this
because most of us are so caught up in the world of technology that none of us really understand
what being on a phone for long periods of time throughout your daily life can do to you mentally.
Technology and the internet is a powerful and incredible tool, but I also think that it's taking over
our world and being overused. Now that everyone pretty much has a mobile device, it's impossible
to stop the use of internet and although it shouldn't necessarily be stopped, people should definitely
check up on their daily usage of internet and games or whatever, and start to live life in the moment
so that over time they don't pick up on any mental health problems, or increase the percentage

A Short Story : A Story?
The girl, laying in her warm bed, was staring. She was staring up at the ceiling, this happened every
night, a bed was supposed to give comfort yet it makes her anxious. She had only moved to her new
house in a secluded part of her neighborhood, and only a week in strange things started to occur.
Something was here and it wasn't playing games, she knew it wasn't after the first incident with *it.*
The girl had finally moved everything into her house, exhausted from the work and doing it alone.
She had gone upstairs to her bedroom yet the door wouldn't open. It was a narrow hallway, and it
seemed that every door in the hallway had locked themselves. Of course, it wouldn't have freaked
her out as much if it weren't for the door that closes off the hallway from the stairs had also locked
as well. She had been trapped, she couldn't do anything but wait to see if someone would come over
but they never came.
That was only last month, there had been plenty of these events over the weeks, each only locking
her out of the house, out of the rooms, or locked her car so she couldn't leave. She hadn't dealt with
it at its full power just yet, there was only thing that kept it from being too extreme. This girl had
something attached to her, something that helped her, something that wanted to protect her. The
house didn't want her, it didn't want her presence at all, it wanted her to leave. And how would the
girl have known? She only stayed, nothing could have helped her and told her the

A Temporary Matter By Jhumpa Lahiri And Coming Home Again...
Being subjected through sets of dramatic circumstances, both Shukumar and Lee attempt to strive
forward to keep what is left of their relationships close, yet their unforgiving fates drive their
determination toward their very limits. Throughout my readings in "A temporary Matter" by Jhumpa
Lahiri and "Coming Home Again" by Chang–Rae Lee, the authors of both novels foretell that
unresolved conflicts and despondent settings are very detrimental to the development of human
character. In "A Temporary Matter", Lahiri portrays Shukumar as a young married man, and a
graduate student in his thirties. He used to work hard for his school work and his teaching duties at
the college until his unborn child died prematurely. As a reaction to this event, his personality then
became very similar to that of a sloth creature who has lost his motivation to work; "Until
September he had been diligent if not dedicated... But now he would lie in their bed until he grew
bored..." (Lahiri 2). His unhealthy reaction to the death of his unborn baby is an ominous sign that
his character is slowly being eaten away by depression. It is also important to note of his internal
conflicts in the story, Lahiri states that, "he no longer look forward to the weekends" (2). Shukumar
would even think negatively to himself, for example, "the one time that his wife would sought him
out... he'd come to dread it. He knew it was something she forced herself to do" (Lahir 4). Lastly,
Shukumar is suffering from guilt,

Did Victor Frankenstein Make The Right Or Wrong Decision?
Did Victor Frankenstein make the right or wrong decision?
''All monsters are humans'' is the famous quote from The Murder House,Season 1 of the popular tv
series of 2011–20–– ,American Horror Story;and this relates to the argument I have about who
really is the monster in the story of Frankenstein. Yes,sure Frankenstein is created as one,but who
created him and abandoned him, well...that'd be Victor.Continuing along with this, the monster talks
about his journey and misfortunes being brought into this world to Victor, after he tells his story he
then asks for Victor to create a lady companion for him.But even though this sounds like a good
idea,Victor first has to take into consideration that the monster is a murderer of his brother ,William,
but he also owes his creation happiness and wants to hide his creation from his family and for his
creation not to hurt anyone anymore so,he agrees he's to make a companion. He then creates a
companion in England and when he completes it, all these thoughts provoke him nervously that
have making the companion could fail him and make the matters he has with creation even worse
than before;his creation then sees his companion with delight, when Frankenstein then decides to
destroy his companion. My perspective on this is that destroying his creation's companion was a
good decision because there is no certainty that they would of gotten along or would've fallen for
each other, plus if they procreated that make might more evil kinds like

How Fast Food Addiction Forms in the Body

  • 1. How Fast Food Is Addictive When it comes to the topic of fast food, most of us will readily agree that it's unhealthy. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether it causes addiction. While some are convinced that it doesn't, others are convinced that advertisements help brain wash the new generation. Along with the chemicals added to the fast food to help contribute to the addiction cycle. My own view is that fast food is addictive. In my point of view fast food is addictive because it seems that the more fast food we eat, our body tends to carve more food. Something that they put into fast food is a lot of chemicals, some way I can notice this is leaving a French fry laying down for several days and nothing happens to it, it doesn't change but if you leave a homemade French fry it gets moldy and ugly. Fast food can cause very bad health, which can lead to diabetes, cholesterol and even bad blood pressure. There has been cases were too much fast food causes obesity and can lead to heart attacks or something even worse like death because the heart gets covered by all that fat and leads to death. The chemicals that are put into the fast food is something that gets us the consumers addictive because the chemicals that they put make our system addictive to whatever they use in their fast food. As the new generation sees toys then they the children want to go there and McDonalds even has a clown so that makes the children want to go and will they are playing they get hungry ... • 3. Egocentric Perspective Analysis Many People throughout their lives never try to understand or change how they see the world. Although this was true for me, I made a change to try and see others viewpoints. It was easily one of the most difficult introspective change I have ever done, mostly because I only saw things as black and white. This was probably due to my inexperience of others/ignorance and because I was too stubborn to believe that anyone other than me was right. But it wasn't these factors or thoughts alone that determined how I was, or am to be. The other factors were simply me being kind of sheltered and not knowing about others situations. The main factors that led me to overcome these obstacles of egocentric thinking was due to my parents, sports, and world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sports were always a way for me to escape reality and go into something better, and really have fun. Although there is always one year where I was getting stressed out more about making varsity. But as I went and did more and more sports I overcame this stress because of all the friends I have made through these sports. Now although sports are great, there was a greater lesson I learned because of sports. Remember me telling you about making friends from sports, well those friends would tell me about their home life, or difficulties they had. The stuff they told me about their lives was incomprehensible to me, mainly their father/family problems (arrests or deaths). After hearing these situations I realized my life was a good one, I had a good family, and a house to live in. But the effect their life–stories had on me was profound, I realized everyone's situations are different, and I realized I should try to understand others more and not judge them on outside appearances. Plus I made some of my greatest friends doing these sports, who of which would push me to become a better person and really understand others and try to become a friend to anyone. But although I try to become a friend to all, it is easier said than done, mostly because I'm human. So now because of sports I have tried to judge others less and listen to them and get to know ... • 5. The Guerrilla Girls By Valeria Napoleone Xx And Co Curator... 'Is it even worse in Europe?' the Guerrilla Girls' latest exhibition questions and examines todays art museums in Europe on the controversial subject of diversity. This exhibition was supported by Valeria Napoleone XX and Co–curator Nayia Yiakoumaki in helping the feminist group exhibit their work at the Whitechapel gallery. Revisiting back to their past project in 1986, the 'It's even worse in Europe' exhibition which targeted mainstream art museum directors and artists, the Guerrilla Girls come back in 2016 to question whether their original statistics have shifted over time. Areas that the Guerrilla Girls particularly engage in are the cases of feminism, racism and sexism particularly situated around the arts. With this project, we wanted to pose the question 'Are museums today presenting a diverse history of contemporary art or the history of money and power?' We focus on the understory, the subtext, the overlooked and the downright unfair. Art can't be reduced to the small number of artists who have won a popularity contest among bigtime dealers, curators and collectors. Unless museums and Kunsthallen show as diverse as the cultures they claim to represent, they're just preserving the history of wealth and power. ("Whitechapel gallery – Guerrilla Girls" web). When approaching the Whitechapel Gallery in London, I was instantaneously drawn to the iconic, bold banners mounted up on the gallery building, along with images pasted on the windows showing the Guerrilla ... • 7. Surviving Dorm Life Without Your Mom Surviving Dorm Life Without Your Mom Do you remember when you were little and being sick meant a day of staying home watching TV? When did the mentality switch from "Yes, I get to stay home" to "It is just a little cough, I am sure I am fine"? Everyone experiences illness at some point in his or her life. Most people get their first illness when they are young children and the best part about it is there is parental figure there to take care of them while you stay home. Parents bring you food, medicine, blankets, and do anything to make you feel comfortable. Then, one day, you decide to go off to college and be an adult. Well, it turns out that being an adult is not as much fun as you thought. It starts one night when you wake up lying in your dorm bed with a fiery fever and all you can think is "I would do anything to make it stop." The next day, your throat is burning, nose is running, there is a splitting pain in your head, and your muscles feel like you ran a marathon the day before. It is then that you realize that, as invincible as you are, you are sick. Being sick is bad, and being sick in a dorm room is even worse. The feeling of helplessness and abandonment creep in along with your miserable symptoms but here are eight steps that will help you survive sickness in college without someone to take care of you. • 9. The Effects of a Teenage Wasteland Anne Tyler's "Teenage Wasteland" is a story about a modern day family of four and the relationship issues they experienced with each other. The story is presented in third person limited; however, the reader is shown much about how the mother of the family feels and the troubles she experiences in her relationships with her husband and children, primarily her son Donny. Daisy is portrayed as a mother who worries that she had failed Donny because of his continual disobedience toward the authority figures in his life. Donny is a teen who constantly misbehaves in school and in the story is described as "noisy, lazy, and disruptive; always fooling around with his friends, and would not respond in class." (188). These behaviors lead Donny to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children have a lot to say and parents have to remember to stop and listen to their child and then maybe offer suggestions and ideals. Recognize how the child feels and acknowledge the flaws the child has. Nobody is perfect. Realizing the imperfections of the child helps a parent better understand the type of encouragement and guidance the child might need to become a more productive adolescent. Secondly, patience is another key component to an effective parent–child relationship. Some parents assume that if a child isn't doing so well in school, the child will struggle with learning all his or her life. A parent must understand that one failure does not mean a child is made to be a failure. Having patience and allowing your child time to do better will help him or her grow up to be more of a well rounded adult. In "teenage wasteland" Daisy struggles with self worth. She ponders at night on where she went wrong in Donny's life. She even admits that she wishes she could start over and give Donny more attention. "Given one more chance, she'd do it perfectly–hug him more, praise him more, or perhaps praise him less." (190). Daisy's patience fails when Donny becomes stubborn and narcissistic and she allows another person (his tutor) to parent and guide Donny. A parent knows their child best but must remember to be patient with the child while he or she is developing into an adult. Finally, discipline is another important parenting value. • 11. Essay On School Day I woke up as if it were any other typical school day, forcing myself out of bed. I threw on the pitch black shirt I had laying beside me and the denim jeans laying on my cold tile floor from last night. Reluctantly, I brushed my hair and then my teeth. Suddenly, chronic pains shot through my lower back and to my abdomen. My head pounding, I realized I hadn't had any water for a few days. Sharp pains all over, I started to feel worse and worse as the clock in the top left corner of my bedroom ticked. I stumbled my way to the kitchen, trying to hold myself up on anything I could grab. I struggled to get a glass out of the cabinet and fill it with water from the sink. After I crawled my way back to my room, I laid on the floor, unable to pull myself up onto the bed. A few seconds went by before I shut my eyes and passed out. Hours later I woke up feeling even worse than I had before. Luckily, my aunt was stuck at home after getting sandwiched between two cars just outside of Taylor. Upon arriving at our house, my aunt decided to stay and take care of me, every hour or so checking my temperature and bringing me a fresh glass of ice water. She told my family I was fine and getting better, although I knew I was getting much worse. And after hearing the news from my aunt that I was getting better, my mom didn't believe her and she called me to ask how I was doing. I told her I was feeling worse and that I needed to go to the hospital. She responded, "Ok. I will be there as soon as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A little less hectic than an ordinary August day, as it was 5:45 AM on the Friday before Labor Day. And that meant that many people would be taking the long weekend to head down to Cape Cod. I was too hung–over to reply with words but uttered something incoherent. The brightness, which was eye–piercing due to the surrounding buildings' sun reflection, filled the space in my overpriced apartment. Her hourglass curves complemented by her long, straight dirty blonde hair that fell just below her shoulder blades. Everything about starting the day right now felt so wrong. I could feel her heat beating slowly in rhythm with my own. Almost like it was my natural way of responding to her presence. This was the first time I have ever felt that butterfly feeling that everyone always talks about when falling in love, even though I don't really believe any of that stuff. The sensation of her cuddled up next to me, pressing her body as close to mine as physically possible, caused all of my worries about the day to disappear just like that. There was no place that I would rather be. With her head resting on my chest as she was still cuddled up against me, she gave me that look with her golden brown eyes that would make the lyrics to Marvin Gaye's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" true for me. For a brief moment everything seemed to stop, until she quickly pressed her soft lips against mine. Breaking the kiss to stretch her arms out before she hopped out of my bed and skipped along to the bathroom around the corner. His situation got even worse when he moved into his new apartment with his dad. The apartment was old and dirty. The elevator that was in their building could only hold three people. The stairs were just as bad. They were dark and dirty as well. To make matters worse, they lived on the seventeenth floor. Later on in the story, Martin breaks his leg and is forced to ride the elevator. Martin's dad thinks he's being a coward and makes fun of him in a way. We were heading off to watch the football and hockey game, my father told me it would take a few hours. Hours went flying by it felt like we were in a race car, we finally arrived hours later. We went straight to the dining area, it smelled like fresh made pasta and many more thrilling smells. As we made our way through the crowd, we found a table to sit at. Afterwards when we found a seat, we went darting off in many directions to look at all the food stations. Few minutes passed by when we all swarm like bees back to the table. It is a horrible activity that destroys people's happiness and life. Bullying is very negative and creates major problems for our society. Nothing good comes out of bullying. In fact, it ruins many people's lives. Kids can be mentally scarred if they are teased often. Even worse, they can be killed or fatally injured if the bullying gets extreme. Bullying must be stopped or prevented no matter how long it will take; it is a deeply concerning matter. Bullying does not always have to be childish play, but it can be extremely violent. However; in this article, there is an important point that we should look back is that one girl stood up to a group of guys who were picking on the Bird. That is a good deed we should learned to stand up or against the group of bad people who always tease other people in a wrong way. Bullies themselves sometimes deliberately hurt other children physically. "Rowing the bus"– Paul Logan, is one of examples about bullying when it gets worse. The author wrote about his life when he was in elementary school. He was a "perfect target" for the others kids to tease. He was made to row the bus. "...on the way to school I had to sit in the dirty bus aisle littered with paper, gum wads, and spitballs" that was what he was forced to do by a group of bullies in his school. He was a small boy and had no father so that his mother had to work very hard to support him. He used to wear the clothes that his mother got from the donation at a local church. He feared that he might wear the clothes that used to belong with his classmates. A problem he faced at school was that he had a hard time to learn to say the "s" sound properly and "pronounced words that began with "th" as if they began with a "d.". He would become a target that everyone would laugh at him. "For four years, from second to fifth grade, I prayed nightly for God to give me school days in which I would not be insulted, embarrassed, or made to feel ashamed" that was what he was doing every night before he went to ... • 25. Argumentative Essay On Online Dating Online dating can be dangerous in many ways, so be careful who find attractive online. Most people fall one main reasons; the profile picture. It can be tricky when it seems like a nice person on the profile picture, but they have no photos of themselves on their page, or even worse; they use a whole new identity with pictures of that one person. Although I may have thought "oh ok she's cute", I am smart enough to know they aren't who they really say they are. It may seem like an obvious catch, but don't be fooled, they can get you pretty good. Dangerous people use the internet now in days to do pretty much anything from getting you kidnapped, or even worse," killed". The other bad reasons for online dating is liars. The person you admire over social media may get your attention and draw you in, and ends with a disaster. Once you hit their breaking point; they may have intensions on murdering you (not for all), but looking online for a soulmate can be a desperate thing to do In some eyes. I say this because instead of actually meeting or knowing before they date; most jump straight into a relationship based off their online appearance. That's not a smart idea at all. Based on the video we viewed in class, online dating can also be a waste of time. Although you might get replies and pictures from that individual, it can be a long time–waster. When you've been texting and talking to someone that's far away from you, you're going to eventually want to meet them later on in the long distance relationship. One thing I've battled with ever since I was a teenager is acne; thankfully I didn't have it very severely but I struggled with it on my forehead as a teen, and then again all over my face after coming off the pill in late 2011. The Benefits Of Negative Visualization By Oliver Burkeman Throughout generations people believed that having positive visualizations can make situations better, but when you are in a situation that gives you a negative outcome you become devastated. In the essay "The Benefits of "Negative Visualization"' Oliver Burkeman discussed how negative visualization is more likely to make people happier than positive visualization. Burkeman supported that negative visualization makes an individual happier rather than positive visualization; he supported this claim by describing how spending time and focusing how well things would go reduces one's motivation to achieve their goal, having tranquility would give individuals the opportunity to focus on negative emotions, positive thinkers are less prepared and more acutely distressed, "negative visualization" causes less stress, and being prepared for the to the worse–case scenario helps establish what to expect. When using negative visualization, it would be beneficial to use it to prepare oneself for the worse–case scenarios and to reduce both fear and anxiety. In regards to Burkeman's position, I can relate to the information he is presenting and apply it to my personal life. Therefore, I can strongly agree with his point of view that negative visualization is more likely to make an individual happier than positive visualization. Before I tried out for Track and Field, I imagined myself getting a bad time running my mile, imagining how half way into the mile I would be puffing for air, my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Technology Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology Technology has changed every aspect of our lives, whether it was for the better or for the worse. It has a positive impact on our lives because it allows us to connect more with people that are farther away, and it grants us access to information about anything. Unfortunately, it has changed our lives for the worse, too, it makes us over dependent on technology, and it leads to a decline in face to face conversations. Technology that is constantly in our face changes the way we think and carry out our everyday lives. For example, when you are standing in a room full of people instead of conversing with others you would take out your phone and engage yourself in this world that you have created. Integrated computers can benefit our daily lives, because it allows us to resurface old information that was part of the old conversation allowing a more personal conversation. The downside of this is that it could also resurface old fights that you might have had. All of these positives or negatives can be seen in Black Mirror, Her, Our Computers Ourselves, and Crispr Radiolab. The positive impact that technology plays on our lives is that it allows us to connect with people that are far away from us, whether it be via email, phone calls, or any form of social media. This is a good thing because generations before us who didn't have the telephone or any other form of communication to talk to relatives far away would live their entire ... • 46. A Short Story : The Story Of A Story I could feel the stinging tears swelling up, I tried to hold them back, but with this pain I couldn't hold them back anymore, and I felt a tear roll down my red cheeks. All I thought was that my arm could be broken and even worse have wooden shards sticking out of my arm. I was so upset because I was in so much pain and all my brother and best friend at the time could do was laugh at me. But if i'm going to tell this story right, I have to go back to the beginning. It all started when I was at the park behind my house with my best friend at the time, Maria. We were just hanging out and watching my brother, Chase, play golf in the large field connected to the park. When he was done playing he walked over to us; "Whats up guys?" He said while walking up, " nothing much we're just chill and talking" "cool" he started to hang out with us, while we were hanging out me and Maria were playing with one of his golf clubs. While we were messing around, we ended up throwing it in one of the trees in the park. He was upset and tried to get it by climbing the tree and grabbing it, but the tree was too slippery that he slipped and fell on his back. He couldn't reach it so he decided to have us assist him and try to get it. "Can u guys please help me get it, since you were the ones who threw it up there." "Ok, fine we will help you." "Good get on my shoulders." "Actually i'm going to get on the slide then get on your shoulders" "Ok come on" We walked over to the slide and I got on top of it but as soon as I was up he had the idea; " Maria you should actually get on the slide because no offence shawna but she is lighter and could get boasted up more." "Oh none taken she's smaller and younger so she obviously is" I said " ok" said Maria After we all agreed he didn't even hesitate a second for me to get off, he just pushed me with all his force and I ended up falling off the slide. When I fell I landed on my arm when I tried to get up and I noticed that there were wooden shards sticking out of my arm. I couldn't get up I grabbed my arm and as soon as my fingers made contact with my arm I felt it. I felt the pain rush through my arm, it was excruciating and unbearable. • 48. Nihilism In Yevgeny Vasilievich Bazarov's Fathers And Sons In the novel, "Fathers and Sons", the character Yevgeny Vasilievich Bazarov is perceived to be a strong headed, and intelligent Nihilist who is not afraid to express his beliefs on anyone that dares to question and challenge him about it. He is first introduced in the story by Arkady as a great friend and gives a nice wrap in the first few chapters of the story; giving his father and himself the title of a doctor, "who had a special capacity for winning the confidence of lower–class people and indeed treated them casually"(15). But the story changes him quite a bit when they reveal what he is, Nihilist, who recognizes, nor respects nothing and "regards everything from (a) critical point of view"(17). Due to this given trait of nihilism, and the way he carries his opinions out to others, I believe the novel plays more against Bazarov rather than for him. Ever since the introduction of him being a Nihilist, Bazarov has been recognized in the story as rude, judgemental, aggressive and hypocritical towards the majority of the characters in the book. His beliefs have also caused him to break bonds, and turned a friendship sour with Arkady. An example of this bond breaking moment could be his moments with Pavel Petrovitch Kirsanov: despite not even having a type of friendly relationship or any to begin with, Bazarov just creates tension between him and Pavel, as he demonstrates his views to Pavel and Nikolai. Throughout the Bazarov's discusses in chapter 6, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. How To Write A Letter From John Chapter 5 Letter September 6, 1620. Today is the day we all leave for the New World. I'm curious, and a bit afraid, to see if it is really what everybody expects it to be. John, my three year old son, is staying in Europe. As a mother, I feel that he will be much safer there. The new world, at this point in time, is no place for a young child. I doubt it is a place where even the strongest of men will survive. Without my husband William, God bless his soul, I would not be leaving Europe. My husband is a very religious man, and in Europe, his beliefs are looked down upon. A stubborn man he is indeed, will not take no for an answer and must have his religious freedom he so desires. Because William believes that everything that happens, happens because God ... While I believe this boat is no place for a child to be born, the birth of Oceanus will hopefully help unite the rest of the passengers October 17, 1620. I haven't had much time to write about my experiences within these past few weeks. There have been so many sick travellers on this boat, me being one of them at times. I have been so sick from the travel that I have barely been able to move at times. Not too long ago, I saw a man with the same sickness that I had, get washed off the boat by the oncoming waves. Last week or so, some violent storms met the path with our ship, and did some damage to it. The captain is telling us that we should be safe until we land, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. October 25, 1620. As I have stated before, I find myself in my thoughts more often than not. Although this is still true, it seems to be getting worse. I realized that I have began talking to myself, and my husband has noticed me blankly staring at random objects sometimes. Some people believe it to be the work of the devil trying to stop us from reaching our new home, but William, and a few other passengers have convinced them that I am safe. I still wonder sometimes if I am being controlled by the devil. November 1, 1620. • 52. Character Analysis Of Lavaughn's 'Make Lemonade' LaVaughn, the main character in Make lemonade, also has a greatly changing identity throughout the book as well. Unlike Jolly, LaVaughn has a mother, but similarly to Jolly she doesn't have a father. This may contribute to LaVaughn's identity changes throughout the book since she does not have a fatherly figure in her life. Although with LaVaughn her identity is more affected by how others view her, and not by how she feels. We get one of our first looks into LaVaughan's identity shortly after she talks to Jolly about having the job. "The building was broken–down looking, / it was even worse place than where we live... / This Jolly's apartment is disorderly and it smells / But I can see right away there's a lot causing it... / I'm standing in their smelly apartment / looking over the way things are going to be,... / Jolly turn out to be 17. I could still say No / just as quick as Jeremy did about my name. (6–7pg) / The way Jolly said "I can't repeats in my mind." (18 Wolff) In this first quote we see how LaVaughn sort of looks down on Jolly since she doesn't have her life together, but at the same time she feels pity for her and wants to help her. The reader can tell that LaVaughn looks down on Jolly because of the author's word choice. For example, how the author writes "It was even worse place than where we live" and "I could still say no". It seems as if LaVaughn is sort of comapring herself with Jolly, but then ten pages later Virginia Wolff shows how LaVaughn wants to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Analysis Of Black Out By Robison Wells "Black Out" by Robison Wells is an action packed novel full of twists and turns. We are thrown right into the commotion when a series of deadly attacks sweep across the United States, Aubrey and Jack think that they'll be safe because they reside in a remote town named Mount Pleasant in the heart of Utah. But when Alec and Laura who are at the centre of the attacks step into Utah, lives throughout not only this state but the whole nation will be affected. Within this novel one important character who showed forgiveness and resilience throughout the text was Jack Cooper. The setting in which Jack was tossed into was also a huge role in the development of his skills and composure. One important character who displayed a range of important qualities such as forgiveness, composure and resilience in the novel was Jack Cooper. Jack was just an average teenage boy living in the heart of Utah boring his socks off. But this would all change when the nearby Lake Mead would come under attack forcing Utah and the entire nation to go into lockdown. What made this situation even worse was that the armed attackers were said to be teenagers with supernatural powers of some sort. This forced the government to collect all teenager ranging from 12 – 20, then deporting them to army facilities for further testing to try and determine if they were somehow involved in any of the attacks. But for Jack he wasn't going to settle with this so he decided to flee, making a run from the government and army trying to better himself. Shortly after taking off on this journey Jack came along a past friend named Aubrey Parsons whom was also on the run. Aubrey and Jack used to be extremely close, but slipped apart as Aubrey was too 'cool' now to hang out with him. Despite the fact that earlier on in life Aubrey had turned her back big time on Jack he was still willing to now stick by her side and help her also escape the grasp of the government. This example shows us how Jack can forgive someone even though they have turned backs on him before. I also think that this shows that Jack is a soldier as he can brush things off and put them aside to not only better himself but also those around him. He is annoying, overweight, starting to grow a moustache in elementary school, unathletic, and has behavior issues. Your teacher even puts a "restraining order" on you two. And your best friend is also his best friend, of the two or three he has. Now, that immature child starts to intimidate you. Do you fight back? Or do you turn him in to the principal for bullying? Since I have absolutely no common sense and I am not the nicest person when I am angry, I chose the former. So, this day–in and day–out exchange of words and actions continued throughout the year until one fateful day in March. Our principal, Mr. Traster, came out and interrupted our recess and escorted me into his office. It was a nice office, with glass windows and comfortable, maroon, rolly–chairs. It seemed to me that the office should make you feel better. However, it only made me feel even worse. "So, tell me what has been going on with you and Ibrahim this year," Mr. Traster said, referring to the kid I mentioned earlier. "Uh, he started to consistently annoy me. I told him to stop. He could not put the filter on his big, runny mouth. In an effort to get him to stop, I started to annoy him. I am not sure why this point is just now coming across because it started all the way back in September," I mentioned. "And why did you not tell someone about this before you retaliated?" He inquired. "Well, my math and science teacher, Mrs. Davis, put a 5–person barrier between us, or at least tried. Ibrahim kept cutting the line to get behind me without my permission while everyone was howling at him to go to the back of the line. And the only thing he did behind me was intentionally, consistently give me flat tires, spit raspberries on me, mock me, and other annoying stuff. My social studies and English teacher, Mr. Selzer, just gave him 4s and 3s (We had a 5,4,3,2,1–point system for behavior–with 5 being good behavior and 1 being automatic suspension. • 62. Should Students Be Allowed To Play After School Sports? What if the only positive environment for students is out on the field or in the gym? For many students, sports are the only positive after school program. If students have to have passing grades in school, before they can play sports, it could lead to students roaming the streets and making poor choices. Therefore, students must be allowed to play after school sports. It will decrease youth violence, and bad behavior. In the same way, students would benefit having physical activity to keep them healthy. If students couldn't go to after school sports because they have to pass their classes first, it would increase violence. Students would have bad behavior because they could start selling or doing drugs. Instead of having after school sports, many students have nothing to do after school. Many of them would start selling drugs, including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, molly, or other types of drugs. According to the article, "Bad grades? Some schools OK with it", a youth states, "Without sports, 'I would probably be out selling drugs or shooting people.'" This quote shows that many students, instead of doing sports, would be out getting into trouble. In other words, tons of students would be selling drugs if they got kicked off their sports team for having bad grades. Not only the loss of sports cause kids to sell drugs, but also, they could end up in worse situations. Students, when kicked off the team, react in harsh ways, such as, ending up in jail or even ... This makes many people not even try, instead acting selfishly, looking after themselves above the greater good. Offred is an exemplar of this phenomenon. She represents an average person, who feels powerless, and largely acts in self interest. This makes her, and everybody who thinks like her, complicit in Gilead's rise. Their feeling of powerlessness does not justify their selfishness. Throughout the book Offered thinks she is powerless. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a very human response. She is values her comfort over everybody else's, and instinct that is very strong in all of us. It is also an incredibly selfish instinct, and in this case, Offred falling victim to it makes Gilead stronger. Emotions continue to be a strong force in driving Offred's selfishness, specifically when Serena Joy gives her a photo of her daughter in return for seeing Nick. "I can't let go of this hope" she says, referring to her hope that her daughter is somehow ok after everything that happened (206). Of course she values this hope, any parent would. However, from a rational perspective, it is a very selfish decision. That photo gives her hope, a feeling that makes her feel good. It doesn't help her daugter of anybody else. The only way to do that would be to weaken Gilead, which she could have done if she had instead demanded some information from Serena Joy that Mayday could use. It's not an assertion made without evidence, as numerous surveys of infrequent–to–addicted internet users show a positive correlation between their number of web surfing hours logged and their feelings of sadness, isolation, and alienation afterward. Some critics say that heavy use of the internet more than doubles a person's chance of being depressed; others say that the internet might not be depression's trigger so much as it is its refuge. Being subjected through sets of dramatic circumstances, both Shukumar and Lee attempt to strive forward to keep what is left of their relationships close, yet their unforgiving fates drive their determination toward their very limits. Throughout my readings in "A temporary Matter" by Jhumpa Lahiri and "Coming Home Again" by Chang–Rae Lee, the authors of both novels foretell that unresolved conflicts and despondent settings are very detrimental to the development of human character. In "A Temporary Matter", Lahiri portrays Shukumar as a young married man, and a graduate student in his thirties. He used to work hard for his school work and his teaching duties at the college until his unborn child died prematurely. As a reaction to this event, his personality then became very similar to that of a sloth creature who has lost his motivation to work; "Until September he had been diligent if not dedicated... But now he would lie in their bed until he grew bored..." (Lahiri 2). His unhealthy reaction to the death of his unborn baby is an ominous sign that his character is slowly being eaten away by depression. It is also important to note of his internal conflicts in the story, Lahiri states that, "he no longer look forward to the weekends" (2).
