2. What attracts you to watch a pop
music video?
Our audience research emphasises
how young people are attracted to pop
videos because of the relatable themes
and catchy tunes such as the themes
of having fun, partying, being in love
etc. We know that we need to include
themes that young people can relate
to in order to catch their interest.
3. What’s your favourite music video?
Our target audience preferred more
narrative based music videos from
popular, current artists such as Lady
Gaga and Olly Murs because of the
fact that they offer a more engaging
experience to the audience and add to
the entertainment factor rather than a
less narrative driven video.
4. Do you prefer videos that follow a
narrative or are more performance
based?
The majority of our audience preferred
videos that primarily follow a narrative
but also contain some aspects of
performance. Therefore, we now know
that in order for our audience to get
the most enjoyment out of our
video, it must follow a
strong, engaging narrative.
5. How do you think a video for Lady
Gaga’s ‘The Fame’ should be
portrayed?
From watching our audience
feedback, we know we should use a
strong narrative that includes many
references to fame by using props
such as cameras, money, nice dresses
and generally giving our singer a
glamorous image, creating a glitzy
atmosphere throughout the video.
6. Do you prefer it when videos have a relationship
between the lyrics and the visuals or do you
prefer a more concept based video?
Our audience generally preferred having a
relationship between the lyrics and visuals
in order for the video to be relatable to
them and to make it easier to enjoy.
Therefore, we shouldn't make our video too
outlandish but should still include some
aspects of performance along with a basic
narrative that includes themes that our
audience can understand our reasons
behind as they would fit in with the lyrics.
