1. Universities motivation Latter
Hi All,
I am applying to a few universities for Msc. in Finance. I have prepared a motivation letter if
you can review and let me know your suggestions about using English or any changes or
suggestions. Additionally, the universities’ requirement is simple nothing in specific just that
they want to see how motivated I am to join the program.
I wish to apply for the Masters in Banking and Finance. I am thankful in advance to the
admission officer to give me this opportunity to apply for this course and consider my
application. I grew up in a society where women are supposed to be subservient but I was
blessed with ardent mother and unassailable elder brother. From whom I learned that
progress is inevitable by the sheer power of will and self-belief. My brother is my supporting
pillar and the driving force. He is a banker with six years of work experience and based in
the Bangladesh.
The road to my education was always challenging due to lack of finance but my unrelenting
will and positive outlook helped me attain my Bachelors in Commerce from Delhi University
combined with many part-time jobs as it was a distance learning program. After my first
degree, I got an opportunity to work with NIIT where I started as a trainee analyst and my
first client was Wells Fargo bank. I was tasked to look after all the learning material needed
for bank’s employees. I was recognized and awarded for my work wherein I was motivated
to do more. When I decided to do my MBA, there were further challenges as a regular MBA
was expensive for me and I had the responsibility of my mother. Where people around me
looked at this situation as set back, I looked at it as a learning objective. I looked around
and found the best outcome to pursue a part-time MBA while continuing my job. When I
look back at those circumstances I see the betterment it brought me. I learned patience,
multitasking and cultivated my time management skills. This also helped me progress in my
career.
Soon enough I had moved to a more challenging role in a new company RAH Infotech. Now
my client was HSBC, Morgan Stanley and UBS. I had the opportunity to work with
management like directors and senior vice presidents. This experience has taught me how
knowledge and hard work are a perfect combination to achieve higher goals in life. My hard
work had paid off when I was given the opportunity to work for a short period in HSBC’s
office in London. I jumped on the opportunity, as I knew it would involve great learning and
also spending time with my brother. My recent visit to London and working under the same
roof with the senior management gave me acquaintances to concepts of process
improvements, automation and how important and difficult decision-making is at the same
time. I also had the pleasure of meeting some of Global Heads in various banks. In those
various discussions, one of the topics was European education versus Indian education. At
that moment I connected to my original wish to having a European education. By nature, I
am a proactive person and started researching potential next steps. I came across
Maastricht School of Management.
2. This was a great opportunity for me since in my country where women are not given such
opportunities and equal education. I have been in the Netherlands for more than a year
graduating from Maastricht School of Management. I had come across many challenges and
opportunities during the program as there is a very big difference in the European
education system in comparison to Indian education system. I was able to convert all the
challenges into opportunities with the support of the professors, friends and family. While in
the university I had come across friends who were ACCA certified or preparing for CFA
certification considering their interest in finance and the challenging job market in the
Netherlands and the courses I took in Maastricht with practical implementation of the
knowledge like reading a company’s annual report along with the financial analysis in my
final thesis made me realize my interest in Finance and I started finding more about
opportunities in the field of finance. I soon discovered the combination of strong financial
knowledge and management skills can lead to extraordinary results. I have registered and
pursuing a financial certification called Professional Risk Management (PRM Exam) as a first
step to gain financial knowledge. Additionally, masters in Banking and finance have subjects
which would be helpful in clearing the exams for PRM as preparing for a PRM exam involves
reading through various books and other online sources only.
3. To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter to apply for a position in the Master of Arts in International Business
and Management program, offered at the [univeristy]. After graduating from bachelor
program in marketing section at the [university], I wish to expand my knowledge of business
management and managerial tools, which I was not equipped deeply enough in the
university, to evolve in the Business world. By reading the provided course curriculum, I
have found that the subject material covered will best suit my career goals.
I have had a strong interest in managing, particularly in the marketing field, since the first
year in the university. During working in a marketing department of a representative office in
[city] of a United States healthcare and technology company, I have been trained to
implement and controlling marketing plans in multi aspects such as marketing tools,
finance, and human resources. I have worked with different departments, such as IT
department, Business Development department, and Finance department, to discuss and
develop full-funnel marketing plans. This is the career path I wish to focus on, developing
and managing marketing programs for a company or a brand. I consider an International
Business and Management program to be the best for my career path.
My professional goal is to become a brand manager for a multi-brand company such as
Procter & Gamble (P&G) after successfully completing my master's degree. The opportunity
to evolve into the high-level education that the Master program you offered would expand
and deepen my knowledge in the field of Management and provide me a great advantage in
the labor market. Additionally, besides major study area, Strategic Marketing and
Consulting are the reason I wish to participate in your program, which are courses I was
highly interested in but did not have a chance to study so far. The program would allow me
to gain more knowledge about the general and strategic management, particularly for
marketing management.
During years in the university, I focused on Marketing - related concepts through theoretical
approaches and also studied basic knowledge of principles of business administration.
Moreover, I studied project management, analyzing international companies' case studies
as the role of project managers and studying their project managers' approaches in the real
world.
I researched and used a real example in the pharmaceutical industry in [country], the
[company], for my bachelor's thesis, "Name of thesis". It improved my market research and
data analysis skills. In particular, I applied market research techniques, such as personal
interview, surveys and SPSS, and analytics tools such as SWOT, PESTLE table to identify
the strengths and weaknesses of the Imexpharm and develop a marketing plan for its.
Moreover, I have learned that other skills and factors are also essential to successfully
complete any projects, for instance, strong organization and communication skills, respect
4. of deadlines, open-mindedness, and accuracy.
With all of experiences listed, I am ready to bring my career path to the next level. The
courses offered in this program are specifically in line with my professional goals.
Additionally, studying abroad provides a great grounding in which to further experience
divergent cultures and exchange knowledge. I am certain that the knowledge and skills
learned from my professional experience and university would make me a valuable
applicant for Master of Arts in International Business and Management program, offered at
the [university].
Thank you in advance for considering my application.
