This document provides an overview of training goals and staff for a university center (UC). The four training goals are to: 1) create a team-oriented staff environment, 2) foster professional identity development, 3) develop individualized leadership models for staff, and 4) provide opportunities for self-reflection. Key UC staff and their roles are introduced. The UC is part of the Division of Student Affairs and aims to serve as the "living room" of campus by engaging students, enhancing the campus, and enriching the community. Staff are encouraged to understand how their roles contribute to these broader goals.

 Each module in this online training and every
session of in-person training will be focused
around one or more of the UC’s four training
goals. Please keep these goals in mind as you
go throughout training. They are designed for
your personal and professional development.

The UC strives to serve this role for Webster’s
campus through our programs, services, and
facilities.

The college union advances a sense of community, unifying the institution by embracing the
diversity of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We bolster the educational mission of
the institution and the development of students as lifelong learners by delivering an array of
cultural, educational, social, and recreational programs, services, and facilities.
By any form or name, we serve as the heart of the campus community and create a

 The previous slides were meant to help you
see the bigger picture of which you are a part
by working in the UC. This is more than just a
job. You serve a critical role for the UC, for
Student Affairs, and for the entire University.
Your experience in this position should enable
you to grow as an individual and professional,
and your work will put you in a critical position
to guide and encourage other students and
patrons to their fullest potential as well. In
short, you’re kind of a big deal.
