Editor's Notes
- What this webinar will focus on
- Management reviews are a formal, structured meeting that need to be held at regular intervals. This can be monthly, quarterly or annually, but must always be held at least once a year.
- It is designed to check that your management system is achieving the expected results, is meeting your business’ need and is able to identify non-conformities and start corrective actions.
A management review evaluates the effectiveness of your management system
It also checks that it your system still fits with your business and its needs and that its processes remain appropriate with its objectives
It is also a great opportunity for senior management to touch base and be alerted to any changes or updates that have been made to the system or that still need to be made
A management review should involve senior management, but input from other individuals is important to make the process more useful. These people will have valuable feedback.
Make the review objectives clear – this will help to foster discussion and prevent people from becoming intimidated.
- Give people as much data and info before the day of the review as possible – this will encourage discussion and they will arrive at the meeting with ideas and suggestions
- You will need to keep detailed minutes as evidence for your ISO audit. But you can use these minutes too – distribute the old ones around so you can see what was meant to be addressed and by whom. Jot minutes down next to the points on the agenda
- Make it as interactive as possible – think of discussion points beforehand
- Create an agenda – you need it for ISO. Helps you to ensure that all topics of the ISO have been covered:
Discussion of the status of any issues from the previous meeting
Changes to external and internal issues that affect the management system
Examination of the performance of the management system
Review of all available resources and their adequacy
Examination of how effective the actions taken towards identified risks and opportunities were
Identification of further opportunities for improvement
- Make it as interactive as possible – think of discussion points beforehand
- Invite people to share their personal insights or have a Q&A session or brainstorming to address any problems
- Detail who is accountable for each action and the deadline
- Look for trends – are there repeated errors that could be prevented entirely by a change in policy or process?
- Distribute the minutes to all staff afterwards
- Show participants the agenda and other templates that can be used to help them
- Tell them how to find them
