College Football Offseason
College Football's Offseason Suspensions: Stop Making Fun of Georgia!
In college football's offseason, the news we hear is often that of arrests and suspensions (unfortunately). There are probably a couple of good reasons
for that:
1) Young men (especially those in exalted positions) are released from their grueling on–season "captivity," as it were, and granted the freedom to get
into every manner of shenanigans not even contemplated when school, practice, coaches, and reporters are regularly in their way.
2) Since there is sparse college football news of any significance in the offseason, the easiest way for an offseason college football player to make news
is to get arrested.
Every year, the higher–profile schools garner more media attention for their suspensions (naturally, because the national media do not care when the
backup quarterback for Maranatha Baptist gets arrested for punching his roommate over a video game mishap). As a consequence, members of the
college football community have often used Georgia as the offseason police–blotter punchline. We think it might be time to bury that joke.

0 football players arrested. How about college football's gold standard, Alabama? The Crimson Tide have had five players arrested in 2015's
offseason (so far). Steve Spurrier's old team and Georgia's bitter rival, Florida, has had two players arrested. In fact, using statistics from Arrest Nation,
there have been 95 college football arrests this offseason and, again, not one of them hailed from the University of

College Football : The Father Of American Football
American football resulted from several major divergences from association football and rugby football, most notably the rule changes instituted by
Walter Camp, a Yale University and Hopkins School graduate, considered the "Father of American Football". Among these important changes were the
introduction of the line of scrimmage, of down–and–distance rules and of the legalization of blocking. The popularity of college football grew as it
became the dominant version of the sport in the United States for the first half of the 20th century. Bowl games, a college football tradition, attracted
a national audience for college teams. Boosted by fierce rivalries and colorful traditions, college football still holds widespread appeal in the United
States. The origin of professional football can be traced back to 1892, with William Heffelfinger's five–hundred dollar contract to play in a game for
the Allegheny Athletic Association against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. In 1920 the American Professional Football Association was formed. This
league changed its name to the National Football League (NFL) two years later, and eventually became the major league of American football.
Primarily a sport of Midwestern industrial towns in the United States, professional football eventually became a national phenomenon. A football field's
lengths, widths, and markers hold true from college football to the national level. One–hundred yards in length from each start of the two end zones

want to make sure you packed your ticket and arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour before kickoff is schedule so that you can find your seats and get
the last minute snack runs you need before kickoff. Make sure you bring the nosiest objects, your foam fingers and very loud voice with you when

College Football Training
Literature Review The current state of research for college football training is great, with many articles looking to find data that is beneficial to both
the players and coaches either with resistance training programs, conditioning programs, or supplementation studies. There are not many studies
looking to see how these variables actually play a role in the competition or game.
Strength and Conditioning Training and Speed
Speed is one of the most significant characteristics of a college football player due to the nature of the sport. Being faster in any position over the
competition can have tremendous upside in a game, which could lead to a victory. Great players naturally possess speed but it can always be improved
with proper training. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Benefits Of NCAA College Football
The 2016 NCAA College Football Playoff Championship game aired January 11, 2016, to an audience of over twenty–five million people (Consoli). A
thrilling game saw the Alabama Crimson Tide win their fourth championship in the past seven years, defeating the Clemson Tigers of South
Carolina. Coverage of the game was provided by sports media behemoth ESPN, which had agreed to pay 5.64 billion dollars over ten years, or 470
million dollars per year, for the exclusive rights to broadcast the game (Hinnen, par. 3). Advertisements greeted viewers at every opportunity, whether it
be the sponsored segments during the broadcast (i.e. the "Buick Halftime Report") or commercials during breaks in the contest. By the end of the

Colleges and Universities, along with the NCAA, make money hand over fist off the backs of student–athletes while the athletes themselves get
nothing. Players give upwards of forty five hours a week to practice their trade, negatively affecting their ability to get strong grades and a solid
education, while eliminating the possibility of earning any additional income for themselves or their families. On the field, players quite literally run
the risk of injuring themselves in a way that could impact them for the rest of their lives. For their troubles, they get a sub–par education and one in a
thousand shot at an NFL career. College football players are being ripped off. They deserve

Ever since football gained fame and became a major sport in the United States, the players that play this sport started receiving special treatment.
Division 1 college football has become a huge program in this country now and it is run under certain guidelines that are established by NCAA. It
requires students to take sixteen essential courses and students are then made eligible based on a sliding scale. Sliding scale a student can have a
GPA of 2.0 and have SAT scored of 1010 or have a SAT score of 400 and GPA of 3.55. Athletes have the comfort zone of becoming eligible through
their either strong testing skills or their strong academic skills. They can make up for their deficiency in grades through strong test scores or they can

Week 3 of the college football season is in the books, and the history book was nearly rewritten Saturday when Ohio State narrowly escaped Northern

Amateurism In College Football
Amateurism
Being a college football player, I am very well aware of the issue of to pay players or not to pay. Obviously my situation is different, being a student
here at the Naval academy, but the issue still very much affects me. The reason players deserve compensation are painfully obvious. One, Football is
a very dangerous sport. Two, the full ride scholarships players are offered aren't exactly what they appear to be. Three, colleges can easily afford it or
enable it.
"Football is dangerous", these are words heard all the time, and it's been an accepted fact for a while now. Obviously while playing football you
understand there's a risk of being injured you are facing. People get hurt all the time, but these injuries usually do not have lasting effects. Traditionally
they're bruises, cuts, scrapes, and sprains, but there's also always the minute danger of something more serious happening, such ... Show more content

"Do I really want to keep risking everything for this game", "How could I possibly deal with a death on my team if I started coaching". This
introspection soon leads to other thoughts such as "Why do I play?". And I start to piece it all together, in elementary school Football was the cool
thing to do, especially in Texas, and my love for it began then, and from that point forward the dream was always to make it to the NFL. That's when
it would all pay off in my head, which is often the truth, but since only 1.6% of college football players make it to the NFL it rarely pays off.
Somewhere along the line, getting a division–1 Scholarship became the short–term goal, a stepping stone to the league. During my recruitment I was
the most miserable and the most grateful person at the same time. On one hand I grateful that all of these schools were interested in me. On the other
hand, there was so much stress that at times I couldn't even think

College Football: Changes To Rugby
American football evolved from Rugby, it was the result of several changes to Rugby. College football is a team of students from the same university
playing against other university teams. It was through college football that American football became so popular. On November 6, 1869 was the first
intercollegiate football game between Rutgers and Princeton. They both played with teams of twenty–five, you were not able to carry or throw the ball.
To score you had to kick the ball throw the goal post first to reach six goals wins. Rutgers won six to four, Princeton wanted a rematch so they played
at Princeton this time, under Princeton's rules. The only differences were that you were rewarded a free kick if a player caught the ball on the fly. ...

So Columbia joined, they were the third team to play college football, their first game was on November 12, 1872, when they went to Rutgers and got
beat six to three. It got to the point when it was so disorganized and brutal that there were no games played in 1971. But it came back in 1872 when
Columbia played Yale for the first time ever. The coach for Yale's team was David Schley Schaff, he learned the rules and how to play football at
Rutgers where he graduated from. Yale won that game three to zero. In 1873 changes to the sport came. They were trying to make it more organized,
they made the team's now twenty, and the game was played in two forty–five minute halves on fields hundred forty yards long and seventy yards wide.
On October 20, 1873, Yale, Rutgers, Columbia and Princeton all sent a representative to meet in a Hotel in New York to make the standard rules.
Harvard's football team started back up again in 1983. They played football a differently, they were much more physical they called it "the Boston
Game" where you were able to pass, run, kick or dribble the ball. There was also no limit to the amount you could have on your team and you could
only run the ball when being pursued by the opposing team. Harvard refused to the attended the meeting in New York with the other football teams,
they wanted to play it with their rules. Because Harvard would not play by the rules they had to play against rugby clubs. Playing against McGill
Harvard would start using trys. Eventually trys would end up turning into touchdowns. On November 13, 1875, Yale and Harvard played each other
for the first, over two thousand people had shown up to watch the match between the two. Harvard had prevailed they won the game four to zero. On

Persuasive Essay On College Football
Every Saturday during the fall season, everyone will tune into watch the coveted college football games. Watching The Ohio State Buckeyes or The
Notre Dame Fighting Irish, battle on the field to see who is the true victor. But no one every truly ask what the money is behind the programs. The
Ohio State Football teams annual cost is $34,026,871 while the whole university annual budget is $5.7 Billon (). Just the football team is .59% of all the
budget, even though this seems like a very minimal number it is quite huge mathematically. If the college would choose to make budget cuts the odds
of the program being cut are so minimal, they would rather cut the English department even though it is way less beneficial for the college. College
football is one of the few varsity level sports that all colleges have, most sports programs a black–holes money wise. Sucking in vigorous amount of
funds while returning little to none. In 2014 out of the 130 DI Football teams only 24 teams actually made a profit from the sport (). Football being
the number one sport in most colleges. The bigger the school the more money it will be able to produce from the football team but this is very rare.
The whole subject about why college sports are even a thing is very controversial. One has to truly look at if the whole athletic programs are truly
worth it. College athletic programs are very controversial and should be cut in some schools. College athletic programs cost way too much, are rarely

College Football Injury
College football players are naturally at risk of injury. The reasons why are due to the aggressiveness of the sport, lack of proper technique,
technology, and equipment used by players. The crazy thing is however, that's what we sign up for on a regular basis. There have been rule
changes to help avoid injury, but a few rules isn't what is going to fix things. There must be new gear and medical test to make sure players are safe.
If players wish to continue playing for a long period of time attention to their bodies is a necessity. Far too many football players careers are cut short

Football players need a variety of gear including: helmets, shoulder pads, cleats, mouthpiece, gloves, leg pads, and other gear depending on your
personal needs. The gear sometimes just won't do its job all the way. Personally I have experienced the issue of faulty equipment. In my career I have
experienced: sprained ankles, concussion, ripped Medial Collateral Ligament, gum trauma, and fractured fingers and open hand wounds. All of this
can't be avoided ,but some things are more avoidable than others. The gum trauma I had was the most severe one that hit at home for me. It wasn't
by any means painful to me,but isn't really an injury you hear about in football. On a trip to the dentist they told me I received the kind of trauma
you get from boxing or a major crash that's why they would bleed occasionally. It was all due to the kind of mouth piece I was using it just didn't
properly take care of my mouth the way it should have. Sadly this is true for a lot of gear that is used in the sport of football. Especially if you
aren't one of the top players coming in. I as a young man try not to hold any grudges with any human being. But, when I first got to college here I had
a major problem with the coaches that we did have. They tried to just throw freshman into less reliable equipment then other guys. I was a freshman
who played so I got a little step up in the equipment. Even my equipment had issues. Gear shouldn't be given based on status ,but rather a need for
protection. A new helmet company is being established that is looking to change everything. This is why college football players need better medical

Should College Football Players be Paid In the United States, sports are seen as an escape from the real world and have become a huge entertainment
industry. One of if not the most popular and profitable sports in the country is college football. In every state across the country, thousands of people
pack into stadiums on Saturday to see their favorite team play. For many universities, one of the departments that makes the most revenue is the
athletic department. Even here at Coastal, which is not a big time college football program, the university makes large amounts of money off of the
football team and the players are not compensated monetarily. A majority of the time, the atheltes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
College football rising to be one of the most popular sports has put a huge price tag on big game tickets. The athletes never see a dime of the
millions made off the championships that they grinded a long season to get to. Under the management of the NCAA, there has been a drastic
increase in how popular college football is. Today, College football is only second in popularity to the most popular sport in the country, the NFL.
What makes the sport so popular is every single state has a college football team to root for and most states have a big–name division 1 team. The large
supply of college football meets and equally large demand and the effect of every city having a home town team makes this sport extremely
popular. If you look at the top ranked football teams of last year, none are in major cities. In the top five you have: Tuscaloosa, Columbus,
Louisville, Ann Arbor, and Clemson. In most of the cities mentioned football on Saturday is king. In these five cities on Saturday night everyone
stops what they are doing and watches their favorite team play. The fact that these small towns can have nationally recognized programs plays a
role in the popularity of college football. TV contracts also boosts college football's popularity and increases revenue exponentially. Games that are
nationally televised gives national exposure to small town schools. TV are actually what makes schools so much money off athletics. TV networks
pay ridiculous amounts of money for the rights to broadcast the schools football team, stuffing the pockets of the university. Marc Tracy of The New
York Times writes, "Under the championship playoff format that began this season, ESPN is paying $7.3 billion over 12 years to telecast seven
games a year" (Tracy). ESPN and other networks are willing to pay billions of dollars to see college athletes compete without any

The Influence Of College Football On American Culture
During the early 20th century college football played a bad role and influence on American culture by diminishing a good college education. I oppose
the role that college football had on American culture because it took away from the main purpose of going to college, which was getting a good
education for most Americans. Since the US was involved in World War 1, many veterans came back to the US with no jobs. College coaches were
exploiting veterans by concentrating on making their team better rather than wanting them to focus on an education, so that they could get a good job
in the future.
When recruiting athletes for football college coaches went to find the fittest guys to improve their teams, and those guys just happen to be veterans
coming back from war with no jobs. Once veterans came back and joined collegiate football teams, they became impecunious athletes in college and
after if they didn't focus on an education as well. But to collegiate coaches in the 20th century getting an education so that athletes can have a
well–paying job in the future was not their concern. According to the Carnegie report which said, "the presence of the impecunious athlete in
American schools, his desire to secure the advantages of a college education, and his inability or unwillingness to distinguish between proper and
improper assistance have combined to produce a fertile field in which to sow the tares of commercialized exploitation and subsidies" (The Carnegie
227). Stating that athletes in American schools are poor and in need of financial support. Therefore, an education should be the main thing collegiate
coaches tell athletes when they're recruiting them. If war veteran is convinced to just focus on football while in college and that education isn't as
important, then they're just going to be even poorer once their eligibility is up. Getting an education should be a priority when coming into college,
because with little education the harder it is for athletes who aren't going professional to find a well–paying job after college.
With most college football players in the 20th century being indigent athletes, coaches had to find a way to get the best of the best players for their
team. Even if they had to pull a

If you are fan of college football even the slightest then you know that certain conferences just have better talent than others. For some reason, these
conferences just attract better athletes than others. Whether it be, better recruiting, better academics, a better environment around campus or just the
fact that the school's football team has a winning tradition. High school athletes are attracted to different schools for different athletic programs. An
athlete would be attracted to UNC, Duke or Kentucky for basketball just like football players are attracted to Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State. This

Football Games And Its Impact On College Football Essay
Introduction
Collegiate athletics have long played an integral role in higher education in the United States. The popularity of collegiate football in America is
unprecedented. "The fan frenzy surrounding teams, games, and the sport itself, is borderline barmy. Aptly described as the thrill of victory and the
agony of defeat, fan emotions in college football are rampant" (Moore, B., 2010). Football programs are able to generate a great deal of revenue
through gate receipts (Groza, M. D., 2010). Football game day attendance is also an excellent proxy for other revenues such apparel sales and
concessions. "The 'major' programs in college football play in the automatic qualifier (AQ in NCAA Football jargon) conferences: The
Southeastern Conference (SEC), PAC 10 (Pacific 10) (now PAC 12), Big 10, Big 12 and Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC)." (Paul, R.,
Humphreys, B. R., & Weinbach, A., 2012). These five conferences are popularly referred to as the power five. Most top football programs in the
power five conferences have a huge fan following and have high game day attendance. However in the smaller, non–AQ, conferences there is a wide
variation in game day attendance on a regular basis. This is because of the quality of the teams, market characteristics, and size of the stadium (Paul, R.,
Humphreys, B. R., & Weinbach, A., 2012). According to Tim Padgett and Shane Hunt, the winning percentage may have a big influence in game day
attendance, but the athletic

There is a serious inequality in the world today. Groups that put "blood, sweat, and tears" into their cause, day after day, have once again been
excluded from what they want most. That is, of course, the college football playoff. The playoffs, which have only been in effect for two years, has
already led to controversial decisions on which four teams to include in the games. There needs to be an expansion in the college football playoff to give
the lower ranked teams a chance to show their worth, promote equality between conferences, and prepare athletes for professional football. This
expansion will also help lead to a more equal and intriguing post season experience for teams and fans. First, some background information on the

A main reason they think this is that by doing so, teams that are not deserving of the college football playoffs would be allowed in. They have a
point in that some years, there truly are only four or five teams that have a sufficient resume to battle for the trophy. But there are more often years
where there are anywhere from seven to twelve teams that are close in ability. Although it would be most fair to change the amount of teams
allowed to play from year to year, this would never happen with the preparation the NCAA has to make. The benefit of the doubt must then go to
the larger amount of teams, as it is the most fair in all cases. It would be most beneficial to allow the bigger group of teams in the years there are
enough, and have to fill the years there is not. This will also make for more entertaining games to watch at the close of the season. As this shows, the
benefits to this system outnumber the negatives. Expansion of the college football playoff is necessary because it gives the lower ranked teams a
chance to show their worth, promotes equality between conferences, and prepares athletes for game play in professional football. It will also allow
more entertainment for fans, and a more exciting post season experience. Let's now come together and end this terrible inequality happening in our

Effects Of Injury In College Football
"The Impact of Traumatic Injuries in College Football"
American Football is known to be fast, physical, entertaining and action packed with all of the big hits and spectacular plays that players make in an
effort to help the team they are playing for become victorious. College football is featured with many unique forms of comradery, pageantry, and
tradition throughout different universities nationwide, and is widely followed by many people worldwide. However, the side effects from playing
football have become deadly with the many different forms of injury that can occur from participating in the fast paced contact sport. Injuries in
college football can vary from minor injuries such as cramps or twisting an ankle; to much more serious and life threatening injuries like Concussions,
or even suffering damage to the spinal cord and all of its components. Sports related injuries in college football have drawn much attention in recent
years as the affects from former players have begun to show. According to the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research "During
2005–2014, a total of 28 deaths (2.8 deaths per year) from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries occurred among high school (24 deaths) and college

Comparing College Football Versus Professional Football
Football is the most popular sport in the United States. The two types of football people watch the most is college football and professional football.
Everyone has their own opinion on which they prefer. I personally think that because of that with the NFL on center stage, we lose sight of the true
spirit of football. Football is about a team's love and dedication for the game, not some player that's getting payed a million dollars to throw and run
the ball because he has a Bugatti payment to make. An average NFL player gets paid $1.9 million dollars a year, according to Forbes'. Ben
Roethlisberger, QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers, made $48.9 million dollars between June 2014 and June 2015. The true spirit of football is found where

Indianapolis Colts, who had a 2–14 record in 2011, had one of the lowest game attendances in the NFL. A year later the Colts went 11

attendance rose to one of the highest. This shows how NFL fans only watch teams if their winning. College football fans are different. They don't
care if their team is losing or not, because they support them either way. In 2013, the Michigan Wolverines were in a losing season when heading into
their game against Notre Dame. The attendance for that game was 115,000 and broke the record for highest attendance ever! Michigan has had
100,000 fans at their games consistently for over 15 years whether they were winning or

When I was twelve I was introduced to a sport I barely knew by my Dad. I was introduced to College Football by my Dad. Ever since then it has
stuck with me and it is my most favorite thing. My Dad's favorite teams are the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan,
because he attended both schools. Ever since he left college it was his favorite thing to watch and follow.
It all started watching games on Saturday with my Dad. Primetime College Football games are usually the most thrilling. All the game day hype
shifts to primetime every Saturday evening. In the fall of 2012 we had the opportunity to go to Metlife Stadium in New York to see USC take on
Syracuse. That game was the first College game I had been to live. The

College Football Playoff Case Study
We're two seasons into the College Football Playoff system that supplanted the BCS format and one thing is certain – The Playoff is working.
Yes, No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama were the last two teams standing this season– And yes, both teams won their semifinal matchups in convincing
fashion – But let's not forget about last year's CFP where the No. 4 seed Ohio State Buckeyes had a "Cinderella"–type ending to their season after
taking down No. 1 Alabama, followed by a 22–point victory over the Oregon Ducks in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.
Television ratings improved significantly in first year of the CFP. According to the Los Angeles Times, last year's Playoff Championship game's
ratings were up 21 percent compared to the 2014 VizioBCS National Championship game featuring Florida State and Auburn. The inaugural CFP
Championship game was the second–most viewed college football championship game in history. According to Adweek, an estimated 33 million
viewers tuned in to last year's CFP National Championship game between the Buckeyes and Ducks. The most–viewed title game distinction belongs to
the 2006 BCS Championship game (35.6 million viewers) between the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Contradiction In College Football
The "contradiction at the heart of big–time college football," as Michael Oriard describes it, is the competing demands of marketing and education. The
1890s proved to university administrators that there was an enormous market for collegiate football, which postulated opportunities for university
building. Since this ubiquitous realization, there has coincided this blatant, yet unchanging contradiction that academic institutions are permitted to
profit off of the services provided by its student–athletes while the athletes must idly accept that they are amateurs, donating their efforts to their
respective schools. The schools then direct this revenue toward strengthening their athletic departments, and thus continues this seemingly endless
growth of big–time college sports, all while athletes remain uncompensated and academics continue to take a backseat. The term "extracurricular
activity" is defined as follows; "unpaid activities not pertaining to ordinary school classes" (Won). The adjective "commercial" is defined as "viewed
with regard to profit" (Merriam–Webster). It is absurd to think that college football can be both a commercial spectacle and an extracurricular activity.
"Extracurricular" implies that education comes before sports, however this idea is misconceived. After World War II, the College of William and Mary
wanted to elevate its football program to national recognition, so the school altered transcripts of incoming high school students making

College Football Corrupt
There are many issues with today's college football system. The NCAA is a multi–billion dollar industry, and that is part of the reason why the system
is so corrupt. The NCAA makes many of their decisions based off of personal gain and are partly to blame for the predictability of College Football
in the last few years. Recently in the media, these issues have been dissected and addressed from many different views. Issues including, star players
sitting out of bowl games, coaches leaving early and serious injuries such as concussions. As well as issues that are underlying such as unfair alumni
donations and the fact that only a few schools actually make money off of their football team. College Football is corrupted due to issues with the bowl

Schools use football and other major sports such as basketball as a marketing tool. After a winning season or a big playoff win, school applications
can skyrocket. For instance, after Doug Flutie's miraculous hail mary touchdown pass in 1984, applications to Boston College raised 30% over the next
two years. This has happened in similar instances with both Northwestern University and the University of Florida after a improbable Rose Bowl
victory and a National Championship respectively. Of course, seasons like this are rare, but having successful programs has a similar effect. In one
of the most regarded studies on the topic, researchers looked at two schools; The University of Pennsylvania and Virginia Tech. The study showed
that football programs that finished in the AP Top 20 saw 2.5% more applicants the next year. A National Championship raised that number to 8 to
9%. The extra applications came from students with high and low SAT scores alike so it gives schools a chance to improve their academic

Expand the College Football Playoff
Many men go to work every single day, making big money for other people, and are the best at what they do in the country, yet they still do not get a
chance to get a raise or promotion. The College Football Playoffs (CFP) decides the best college football team in the nation and declares an outright
National Champion. The #4 Ohio State Buckeyes were crowned National Champions of the first ever College Football Playoffs and almost did not even
get into the playoff. Even though there is a better system in place than the Bowl Championship Series, the CFP has imperfections. The playoff should

Ashby claims in a recent article, Ohio State got beat by Virginia Tech in the first game of the 2014 season and would have had absolutely no
chance of winning a National Championship if the computers were still in control (Ashby). However in the 2015 College Football Playoff, the
Buckeyes claimed the final #4 spot in the College Football Playoff and ended up winning the whole playoff. However, with a four team playoff, the
Ohio State Buckeyes did not even get the chance to defend their throne in the 2016 CFP because they were ranked #7. Expanding the playoff would
only make the job easier for the selection committee and would make a more fair and exciting College Football Playoff. Give a chance to teams that

The NCAA has five major football conferences, the Big XII, Big 10, Pac 10, the ACC, and the SEC (College Football Conferences). The College

reward for spending your morning doing yard work. College football is tradition, one hundred year rivalries and pregame rituals. While these are all
important aspects of college football, these aren't the conversations the media and student athletes are having. College basketball is "March Madness",

conversations about nothing to do with the actual sport. Conversations about how profitable a large school's football or basketball program is dominate

The problem with this is that some college athletes like football players are spending 40 hours a week practicing with the team, team meetings and
other team activities. Athletes also have to travel for away games which makes the idea of having a job impossible. Between classes, 40 hours of
team activities during the week and weekends spent on the road the athletes have schedule is full (Cooper 12). Robert McCormick who was a
attorney for the National Labor Relations Board and he said "These young men are laboring under very strict and arduous conditions, so they
really are laborers in terms of the physical demands on them while they're also trying to go to school and being required to go to school."(Cooper
). Also if an athlete has a quiz the same day as practice the athlete has to miss the quiz and take it another time. A lot of athletes are afraid that their
hectic schedule will negatively affect their grades so a lot time they take easy classes that don't require a lot of work. I also believe that if college
athletes were paid then it would incentivize them to finish their degrees most of the top college basketball players go to school for one year and enter

Negative Impact Of College Football
The role of college football negatively influenced the American culture between the 1890s and the 1930s. The players, coaches, universities and fans
blew the game of college football way out of proportion. There was an enormous wave of investment for big stadiums in the 1920s, otherwise known
as the Golden Age of sports. Many universities built large stadiums for their football program so they could be nationally recognized as a major
academic institution and so they could also compete against the other well known universities during the time. Such as Ohio State, when they built
Ohio Stadium in 1920s. Ohio State built Ohio Stadium so they could boost their national reputation and also so they could peer match Michigan's
stadium, also known as, "The Big House".
Then came the concern that the universities built stadiums that were too big. Many feared that there would not be enough people to fill the seats on
game day. A majority of the stadiums were built too large for the time period. The teams had to grow their fan basis by winning important games in
order to get more people through the gates. Also, many stadiums were built to hold one big game and crowd a year. But, would this one game bring
enough money in to pay off the millions of dollars that were spent to build the stadium? The large stadiums eventually paid off when the fan base
became larger, but it took years for that to happen. Now, there are so many people that want to come to the games that there is simply not enough room
for everyone.
College football also negatively affected the athletes between 1890 and 1930. With the extreme development of competitive college football, college
athletes started their career as early as secondary school. So, instead of focusing on school work and applications for future colleges, these athletes
would make sure they were the best at the sport even before they entered into college. Once the athletes entered into college, they had a hard time
balancing schoolwork with athletics because in the previous years they were so focused on getting better at football. As said in the preface of the
Carnegie bulletin, "No college boy training for a major team can have much time for thought or study" (Savage et. al. xiv). Also,

College Football Should Be Paid
College football is one of the biggest revenue sources for a collegiate institution. Football makes millions of dollars every year. In 2008 the University
of Iowa made $81 million in profits from football; while spending a fraction of that in expenses ("College Athletics Revenues and Expenses – 2008").
If teams are making so much money year after year, why doesn't some of that go to the players'? College football is a full time job, but at the moment
the players are not getting paid. I am persistent that football players should receive some money outside of their scholarship. They work harder and
longer than any other students on campus that have jobs.

It is true that college football players do not have time to have a well established job. Without a job the players are unable to acquire money for when

the NFL. With the amount of publicity that the colleges and NCAA are receiving along with the money that they bring in fromcollege football, the

While the NCAA may be making most of its money off of college football it would be unruly to not pay other sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and
basketball for both men and women. A plan proposed for the payment of college players known as the "Free Market Plan" is the idea to let the
market decide how much the players make (Dohrmann). Rather than allow schools to give stipends under the watchful eye of the NCAA, advocates
believe athletes should be free to make as much money as they can on their own and accepting whatever lucrative inducements an agent might offer
in the hopes of landing him as a future client . A problem with this plan is the NCAA's approval due to the fact that the more affluent schools would
be able to purchase the players that they want. This would leave schools with less money to essentially have worse teams which goes against NCAA's
policy of "one school should not, because of affluent boosters or rule–breaking coaches, have an unfair advantage over another" (Dohrmann). The only
way to let the free market decide while maintaining some semblance of a level playing field is to have a clearinghouse for endorsement deals and
payments from agents. It would also make sure that no deals are made just to give a program a competitive advantage and that none of a player's
compensation is being facilitated by

College football and NFL football
There are over 200 million unique viewers that watch football every year. College and NFL football is one of the major things that can cease
Americans from thinking about all of the awful things in the world and unite people together. Certain things come with each league that are different
and similar to each other. There are even some areas of both leagues that people most likely did not even know about either of them. These two
notorious football leagues have many similarities and differences in the way that they are constructed and played.
The different rules of each league have an impact on how the game flows and how it is played. Each rule has many factors that can manipulate the
outcome of the call on the football field during a game. In this case either league has their own idea of what a catch has to consist of to be considered
one. For college football, the player who catches the ball only has to have one foot in bounds and retain a firm grasp on the ball. On the other hand,
NFL has a different set of rules for what a catch has to consist of. In the NFL just like college the player has to maintain possession of the ball. But,
the main difference between the two rules according to Cyd Zeigler (2015), is that the player "touches the ground inbounds with both feet"(para. 9).
This can cause a higher level of difficulty towards the players to perform a catch. There are other rules between the two leagues that are differently

college football, have the same rules which many of the players think are fair. Also, many of the players respect the history behind it and encourage
other players to do the same.
Many of the rules which are the same are significant and should be followed by both the pro football players and the college players. Holding

When a team and another team tie the game, they have what is called overtime. In this period, the first team who scores a touchdown before the other
team does, wins the game. Both teams have three timeouts, and has a chance to touch the football and try to score a touchdown. This situation is led
off of a coin flip which decides what team gets the football first.
There are some similarities about the stadiums which host the team who is playing another(away) team. Most stadiums have a hall of fame or a
historic piece of history which stands today. Many of these stadiums are very expensive and many are asking why they have the stadiums in the first
place. The length of each football field are one hundred yards and have two end zones, which you get points when one person walks or runs into it.
Next, is the differences. One of the differences is about the rules. One of the rules is when the players take drugs when the doctor did not
prescribe it to them, it is an offence. The penalty for college is ban for more than three games, and for pro football, it is four or more games. Many of
the pro football players get paid and the college football players do not get paid at all, because they are in school and they can't do anything to get paid

The college football market is an inelastic market. It seems that no matter how high prices get for tickets or how high prices get to just wear their

Consumers want to be able to buy things for cheaper so they will look at different ways to purchase the tickets or merchandise. Even though they
might not purchase these things through the program, the program is still the original supplier of these goods. In the 2015 season, Division 1 FBS
College Football had a total of 37,957,921 people attend all of the games, with an average of 43,933 (NCAA). The other part of the demand side of

The Pros And Cons Of Football In College Football
PIPE Paragraph When it comes to football in the college league, many rules have been changed or new rules have been added to make the game
safer for those that play it. The Targeting rule was added going into the 2008 NCAA season of college football for safety reasons. This rule has also
introduced a new discussion of whether or not the rule is fair. The rule states that if a player strikes another player in an upward motion, striking with
the crown [top] of the helmet, then it is a fifteen–yard penalty, and the player is disqualified from the game. This obviously causes controversy between
officials and college football coaches. Many believe that the rule is too harsh and that many calls that are targeting, are not targeting after all. And
that it is not fair to eject a player, if the player did not even deserve the call "There are other gripes with the targeting rule. Washington State coach
Mike Leach called it 'micromanaging, for lack of a better word,' citing too many variables and inconsistent enforcement. Stanford coach David Shaw
echoed a sentiment shared by Mora and Pickett: that there should be different levels of targeting penalties corresponding with the severity of the
infraction" (qtd in Bolch). NCAA rules states that when the targeting rule is implied, then the officials will review the play, and give a final verdict.

time consuming. The other tailgaters were in charge of tasks like skewering and marinating the kebabs, slicing and packing up the burger toppings
into containers, and labeling coolers as drinks were put into them. As a group we took the containers and coolers that had already been bought and

College football is a huge, growing industry in the United States that brings in billions of dollars a year. From all the different Universities, to
professional alumni, college football gets millions of fans and viewers. Every year, the Heisman trophy is awarded to the best player from that year.
This is a great tradition that I think should always be a part of college football. This years winner was Lamar Jackson from The University of Louisville.
This year brought a lot of controversy since Louisville didn't make it as far as expected.
I believe that college football is way to controlled by the NCAA, instead of the colleges or universities. The NCAA enforces a lot of rules that many
people do not agree with. One of the biggest controversies that I do not agree with is how college football players do not get payed. For a young kid,
from the ages 18–22, playing college football is a huge part of their life. I would say that football is basically their job. Coming from a college student I
can say that there is no way a division one athlete can balance playing football, working a part time job, and to maintain your grades in school.

game which I think is absurd. About 5 years ago when the Jerry Sandusky charges came out against Penn State, the team was banned from going to a
bowl for four years. I thought this was absurd because bowls should be something a player can work towards, and accomplish. Just recently the
suspension ended and Penn State is about to play in the Rose Bowl. This is a big game for Penn State since they just recently got their privileges

College Football Offseason

  • 1. College Football Offseason College Football's Offseason Suspensions: Stop Making Fun of Georgia! In college football's offseason, the news we hear is often that of arrests and suspensions (unfortunately). There are probably a couple of good reasons for that: 1) Young men (especially those in exalted positions) are released from their grueling on–season "captivity," as it were, and granted the freedom to get into every manner of shenanigans not even contemplated when school, practice, coaches, and reporters are regularly in their way. 2) Since there is sparse college football news of any significance in the offseason, the easiest way for an offseason college football player to make news is to get arrested. Every year, the higher–profile schools garner more media attention for their suspensions (naturally, because the national media do not care when the backup quarterback for Maranatha Baptist gets arrested for punching his roommate over a video game mishap). As a consequence, members of the college football community have often used Georgia as the offseason police–blotter punchline. We think it might be time to bury that joke. The implication of the ... The Crimson Tide have had five players arrested in 2015's offseason (so far). Steve Spurrier's old team and Georgia's bitter rival, Florida, has had two players arrested. In fact, using statistics from Arrest Nation, there have been 95 college football arrests this offseason and, again, not one of them hailed from the University of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. College Football : The Father Of American Football American football resulted from several major divergences from association football and rugby football, most notably the rule changes instituted by Walter Camp, a Yale University and Hopkins School graduate, considered the "Father of American Football". Among these important changes were the introduction of the line of scrimmage, of down–and–distance rules and of the legalization of blocking. The popularity of college football grew as it became the dominant version of the sport in the United States for the first half of the 20th century. Bowl games, a college football tradition, attracted a national audience for college teams. Boosted by fierce rivalries and colorful traditions, college football still holds widespread appeal in the United States. The origin of professional football can be traced back to 1892, with William Heffelfinger's five–hundred dollar contract to play in a game for the Allegheny Athletic Association against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. In 1920 the American Professional Football Association was formed. This league changed its name to the National Football League (NFL) two years later, and eventually became the major league of American football. Primarily a sport of Midwestern industrial towns in the United States, professional football eventually became a national phenomenon. A football field's lengths, widths, and markers hold true from college football to the national level. One–hundred yards in length from each start of the two end zones and a ... • 4. College Football Training Literature Review The current state of research for college football training is great, with many articles looking to find data that is beneficial to both the players and coaches either with resistance training programs, conditioning programs, or supplementation studies. There are not many studies looking to see how these variables actually play a role in the competition or game. Strength and Conditioning Training and Speed Speed is one of the most significant characteristics of a college football player due to the nature of the sport. Being faster in any position over the competition can have tremendous upside in a game, which could lead to a victory. Great players naturally possess speed but it can always be improved with proper training. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Benefits Of NCAA College Football The 2016 NCAA College Football Playoff Championship game aired January 11, 2016, to an audience of over twenty–five million people (Consoli). A thrilling game saw the Alabama Crimson Tide win their fourth championship in the past seven years, defeating the Clemson Tigers of South Carolina. Coverage of the game was provided by sports media behemoth ESPN, which had agreed to pay 5.64 billion dollars over ten years, or 470 million dollars per year, for the exclusive rights to broadcast the game (Hinnen, par. 3). Players give upwards of forty five hours a week to practice their trade, negatively affecting their ability to get strong grades and a solid education, while eliminating the possibility of earning any additional income for themselves or their families. On the field, players quite literally run the risk of injuring themselves in a way that could impact them for the rest of their lives. • 7. College Football Injury Week 3 of the college football season is in the books, and the history book was nearly rewritten Saturday when Ohio State narrowly escaped Northern Illinois with a 20–13 victory in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes' back–to–back title hopes are still alive, while other teams around the country saw their championship dreams dashed. Below is a recap of the most significant storylines from week 3 of the 2015 college football season. Most Significant Victory – No. 8 Notre Dame Outlasts No. 14 Georgia Tech, 30–22 When Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire suffered a season–ending ankle injury last week, many thought the Irish's chances of making the College Football Playoff went up in smoke. Despite playing outside the big boy conferences, both Hawaii and Northern Illinois are capable opponents. But, Ohio State is supposed to dominate the competition on its alleged inferior schedule – a forecast that hasn't come to fruition. Three weeks into the season, Meyer still doesn't know who his starting quarterback is and his loaded offense has looked less than impressive. • 8. Amateurism In College Football Amateurism Being a college football player, I am very well aware of the issue of to pay players or not to pay. Obviously my situation is different, being a student here at the Naval academy, but the issue still very much affects me. The reason players deserve compensation are painfully obvious. One, Football is a very dangerous sport. Two, the full ride scholarships players are offered aren't exactly what they appear to be. Three, colleges can easily afford it or enable it. "Football is dangerous", these are words heard all the time, and it's been an accepted fact for a while now. Obviously while playing football you understand there's a risk of being injured you are facing. People get hurt all the time, but these injuries usually do not have lasting effects. Traditionally they're bruises, cuts, scrapes, and sprains, but there's also always the minute danger of something more serious happening, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Do I really want to keep risking everything for this game", "How could I possibly deal with a death on my team if I started coaching". This introspection soon leads to other thoughts such as "Why do I play?". And I start to piece it all together, in elementary school Football was the cool thing to do, especially in Texas, and my love for it began then, and from that point forward the dream was always to make it to the NFL. That's when it would all pay off in my head, which is often the truth, but since only 1.6% of college football players make it to the NFL it rarely pays off. Somewhere along the line, getting a division–1 Scholarship became the short–term goal, a stepping stone to the league. During my recruitment I was the most miserable and the most grateful person at the same time. On one hand I grateful that all of these schools were interested in me. On the other hand, there was so much stress that at times I couldn't even think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. College Football: Changes To Rugby American football evolved from Rugby, it was the result of several changes to Rugby. College football is a team of students from the same university playing against other university teams. It was through college football that American football became so popular. On November 6, 1869 was the first intercollegiate football game between Rutgers and Princeton. They both played with teams of twenty–five, you were not able to carry or throw the ball. To score you had to kick the ball throw the goal post first to reach six goals wins. Rutgers won six to four, Princeton wanted a rematch so they played at Princeton this time, under Princeton's rules. The only differences were that you were rewarded a free kick if a player caught the ball on the fly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The coach for Yale's team was David Schley Schaff, he learned the rules and how to play football at Rutgers where he graduated from. Yale won that game three to zero. In 1873 changes to the sport came. They were trying to make it more organized, they made the team's now twenty, and the game was played in two forty–five minute halves on fields hundred forty yards long and seventy yards wide. On October 20, 1873, Yale, Rutgers, Columbia and Princeton all sent a representative to meet in a Hotel in New York to make the standard rules. Harvard's football team started back up again in 1983. They played football a differently, they were much more physical they called it "the Boston Game" where you were able to pass, run, kick or dribble the ball. There was also no limit to the amount you could have on your team and you could only run the ball when being pursued by the opposing team. Harvard refused to the attended the meeting in New York with the other football teams, they wanted to play it with their rules. Because Harvard would not play by the rules they had to play against rugby clubs. Playing against McGill Harvard would start using trys. Eventually trys would end up turning into touchdowns. The Ohio State Football teams annual cost is $34,026,871 while the whole university annual budget is $5.7 Billon (). Just the football team is .59% of all the budget, even though this seems like a very minimal number it is quite huge mathematically. All of this can't be avoided ,but some things are more avoidable than others. The gum trauma I had was the most severe one that hit at home for me. It wasn't by any means painful to me,but isn't really an injury you hear about in football. On a trip to the dentist they told me I received the kind of trauma you get from boxing or a major crash that's why they would bleed occasionally. It was all due to the kind of mouth piece I was using it just didn't properly take care of my mouth the way it should have. Sadly this is true for a lot of gear that is used in the sport of football. Today, College football is only second in popularity to the most popular sport in the country, the NFL. What makes the sport so popular is every single state has a college football team to root for and most states have a big–name division 1 team. The large supply of college football meets and equally large demand and the effect of every city having a home town team makes this sport extremely popular. • 14. The Influence Of College Football On American Culture During the early 20th century college football played a bad role and influence on American culture by diminishing a good college education. I oppose the role that college football had on American culture because it took away from the main purpose of going to college, which was getting a good education for most Americans. Since the US was involved in World War 1, many veterans came back to the US with no jobs. College coaches were exploiting veterans by concentrating on making their team better rather than wanting them to focus on an education, so that they could get a good job in the future. When recruiting athletes for football college coaches went to find the fittest guys to improve their teams, and those guys just happen to be veterans coming back from war with no jobs. Once veterans came back and joined collegiate football teams, they became impecunious athletes in college and after if they didn't focus on an education as well. But to collegiate coaches in the 20th century getting an education so that athletes can have a well–paying job in the future was not their concern. According to the Carnegie report which said, "the presence of the impecunious athlete in American schools, his desire to secure the advantages of a college education, and his inability or unwillingness to distinguish between proper and improper assistance have combined to produce a fertile field in which to sow the tares of commercialized exploitation and subsidies" (The Carnegie 227). Stating that athletes in American schools are poor and in need of financial support. Therefore, an education should be the main thing collegiate coaches tell athletes when they're recruiting them. If war veteran is convinced to just focus on football while in college and that education isn't as important, then they're just going to be even poorer once their eligibility is up. Getting an education should be a priority when coming into college, because with little education the harder it is for athletes who aren't going professional to find a well–paying job after college. With most college football players in the 20th century being indigent athletes, coaches had to find a way to get the best of the best players for their team. Even if they had to pull a ... The popularity of collegiate football in America is unprecedented. "The fan frenzy surrounding teams, games, and the sport itself, is borderline barmy. Aptly described as the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, fan emotions in college football are rampant" (Moore, B., 2010). Football programs are able to generate a great deal of revenue through gate receipts (Groza, M. D., 2010). Football game day attendance is also an excellent proxy for other revenues such apparel sales and concessions. "The 'major' programs in college football play in the automatic qualifier (AQ in NCAA Football jargon) conferences: The Southeastern Conference (SEC), PAC 10 (Pacific 10) (now PAC 12), Big 10, Big 12 and Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC)." (Paul, R., Humphreys, B. R., & Weinbach, A., 2012). These five conferences are popularly referred to as the power five. Most top football programs in the power five conferences have a huge fan following and have high game day attendance. However in the smaller, non–AQ, conferences there is a wide variation in game day attendance on a regular basis. This is because of the quality of the teams, market characteristics, and size of the stadium (Paul, R., Humphreys, B. R., & Weinbach, A., 2012). But there are more often years where there are anywhere from seven to twelve teams that are close in ability. Although it would be most fair to change the amount of teams allowed to play from year to year, this would never happen with the preparation the NCAA has to make. The benefit of the doubt must then go to the larger amount of teams, as it is the most fair in all cases. It would be most beneficial to allow the bigger group of teams in the years there are enough, and have to fill the years there is not. • 22. Contradiction In College Football The "contradiction at the heart of big–time college football," as Michael Oriard describes it, is the competing demands of marketing and education. The 1890s proved to university administrators that there was an enormous market for collegiate football, which postulated opportunities for university building. Since this ubiquitous realization, there has coincided this blatant, yet unchanging contradiction that academic institutions are permitted to profit off of the services provided by its student–athletes while the athletes must idly accept that they are amateurs, donating their efforts to their respective schools. The schools then direct this revenue toward strengthening their athletic departments, and thus continues this seemingly endless growth of big–time college sports, all while athletes remain uncompensated and academics continue to take a backseat. The term "extracurricular activity" is defined as follows; "unpaid activities not pertaining to ordinary school classes" (Won). The adjective "commercial" is defined as "viewed with regard to profit" (Merriam–Webster). It is absurd to think that college football can be both a commercial spectacle and an extracurricular activity. • 27. Negative Impact Of College Football The role of college football negatively influenced the American culture between the 1890s and the 1930s. The players, coaches, universities and fans blew the game of college football way out of proportion. There was an enormous wave of investment for big stadiums in the 1920s, otherwise known as the Golden Age of sports. Many universities built large stadiums for their football program so they could be nationally recognized as a major academic institution and so they could also compete against the other well known universities during the time. Such as Ohio State, when they built Ohio Stadium in 1920s. Ohio State built Ohio Stadium so they could boost their national reputation and also so they could peer match Michigan's stadium, also known as, "The Big House". Then came the concern that the universities built stadiums that were too big. Many feared that there would not be enough people to fill the seats on game day. A majority of the stadiums were built too large for the time period. The teams had to grow their fan basis by winning important games in order to get more people through the gates. Also, many stadiums were built to hold one big game and crowd a year. But, would this one game bring enough money in to pay off the millions of dollars that were spent to build the stadium? The large stadiums eventually paid off when the fan base became larger, but it took years for that to happen. Now, there are so many people that want to come to the games that there is simply not enough room for everyone. College football also negatively affected the athletes between 1890 and 1930. With the extreme development of competitive college football, college athletes started their career as early as secondary school. So, instead of focusing on school work and applications for future colleges, these athletes would make sure they were the best at the sport even before they entered into college. Once the athletes entered into college, they had a hard time balancing schoolwork with athletics because in the previous years they were so focused on getting better at football. If teams are making so much money year after year, why doesn't some of that go to the players'? College football is a full time job, but at the moment the players are not getting paid. Most players will go to bed early to get ample rest so they are fully recovered to do it all over again tomorrow. It is true that college football players do not have time to have a well established job. Without a job the players are unable to acquire money for when they finish college. • 29. College Footballs Overpaid Twenty eight of the division one college football teams generated over 100 million dollars in revenue last year (Schroeder). The 65 universities that make up the Power Five conferences, plus Notre Dame, totaled $6.3 billion in revenue during 2014–15 as compared to the $11 billion brought in by the NFL. With the amount of publicity that the colleges and NCAA are receiving along with the money that they bring in fromcollege football, the players deserve a portion of the money rather than just a scholarship. The revenue brought in by these colleges are often seen going to the coaching staff and the overpayment of their coaches as seen when Jim Harbaugh transitioned into being a college coach but received the same wage. The NCAA has hesitated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the NCAA may be making most of its money off of college football it would be unruly to not pay other sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and basketball for both men and women. A plan proposed for the payment of college players known as the "Free Market Plan" is the idea to let the market decide how much the players make (Dohrmann). Rather than allow schools to give stipends under the watchful eye of the NCAA, advocates believe athletes should be free to make as much money as they can on their own and accepting whatever lucrative inducements an agent might offer in the hopes of landing him as a future client . A problem with this plan is the NCAA's approval due to the fact that the more affluent schools would be able to purchase the players that they want. This would leave schools with less money to essentially have worse teams which goes against NCAA's policy of "one school should not, because of affluent boosters or rule–breaking coaches, have an unfair advantage over another" (Dohrmann). The only way to let the free market decide while maintaining some semblance of a level playing field is to have a clearinghouse for endorsement deals and payments from agents. It would also make sure that no deals are made just to give a program a competitive advantage and that none of a player's compensation is being facilitated by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Argumentative Essay On College Football Enough is Enough Players for Northwestern University are saying they need to be paid to play ball, this has created a spark across the country. Several major division one schools have brought this to the committee for the NCAA. This is ridiculous, college athletes get so many benefits from, getting to travel the country for free, and a top of the line education for free, and you get so many free clothing items. Athletes receive all types of accessories for free shoes, shirts, underwear, a place to wash their clothes. On top of that, "Players who compete in a bowl game get up to $550 in gifts."(Gonchar) In one instance, "The Missouri Tigers and the Oklahoma Cowboys, for example, got Apple TVs and iPad Minis for participating in the AT&T Cotton Bowl."(Gonchar) The first day I arrived on campus I received: two pair of tennis shoes, one pair of slides, and 2 pairs of cleats, three shirts, two pair of shorts, two pair of tights and, as many socks as I want. So it isn't like athletes are mistreated they are completely the opposite of that, they are treated with more respect and integrity than most of the kids on campus.... College and NFL football is one of the major things that can cease Americans from thinking about all of the awful things in the world and unite people together. Certain things come with each league that are different and similar to each other. There are even some areas of both leagues that people most likely did not even know about either of them. These two notorious football leagues have many similarities and differences in the way that they are constructed and played. The different rules of each league have an impact on how the game flows and how it is played. Each rule has many factors that can manipulate the outcome of the call on the football field during a game. In this case either league has their own idea of what a catch has to consist of to be considered one. For college football, the player who catches the ball only has to have one foot in bounds and retain a firm grasp on the ball. On the other hand, NFL has a different set of rules for what a catch has to consist of. In the NFL just like college the player has to maintain possession of the ball. But, the main difference between the two rules according to Cyd Zeigler (2015), is that the player "touches the ground inbounds with both feet"(para. 9). This can cause a higher level of difficulty towards the players to perform a catch. There are other rules between the two leagues that are differently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consumers want to be able to buy things for cheaper so they will look at different ways to purchase the tickets or merchandise. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Football In College Football PIPE Paragraph When it comes to football in the college league, many rules have been changed or new rules have been added to make the game safer for those that play it. The Targeting rule was added going into the 2008 NCAA season of college football for safety reasons. This rule has also introduced a new discussion of whether or not the rule is fair. The rule states that if a player strikes another player in an upward motion, striking with the crown [top] of the helmet, then it is a fifteen–yard penalty, and the player is disqualified from the game. This obviously causes controversy between officials and college football coaches. Many believe that the rule is too harsh and that many calls that are targeting, are not targeting after all. And that it is not fair to eject a player, if the player did not even deserve the call "There are other gripes with the targeting rule. Washington State coach Mike Leach called it 'micromanaging, for lack of a better word,' citing too many variables and inconsistent enforcement. Stanford coach David Shaw echoed a sentiment shared by Mora and Pickett: that there should be different levels of targeting penalties corresponding with the severity of the infraction" (qtd in Bolch). NCAA rules states that when the targeting rule is implied, then the officials will review the play, and give a final verdict. However, most of the time the call is not overturned and the player remains disqualified from the game. This new rule has also made it nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each of us took a job to help prepare the food as quick as possible. I was in charge of shaping up the burger patties between sheets of wax paper. This wasn't a difficult job but it was time consuming. The other tailgaters were in charge of tasks like skewering and marinating the kebabs, slicing and packing up the burger toppings into containers, and labeling coolers as drinks were put into them. As a group we took the containers and coolers that had already been bought and loaded the tailgating essentials into them. A neat trick that my group did was always kept a toolbox packed with tailgate essentials in the trunk of their car. This provided easy access to any of the essentials tailgaters need. These containers would be loaded into the two trucks, one truck was designated for the cooking and food, the other for drinks. The drinks that we brought were mainly sodas and water. The tailgaters brought frozen water bottles and placed them in the coolers so we would have cold water to drink after the ice melted. Traditionally tailgaters bring alcoholic beverages. From all the different Universities, to professional alumni, college football gets millions of fans and viewers. The NCAA enforces a lot of rules that many people do not agree with. One of the biggest controversies that I do not agree with is how college football players do not get payed. For a young kid, from the ages 18–22, playing college football is a huge part of their life. I would say that football is basically their job. About 5 years ago when the Jerry Sandusky charges came out against Penn State, the team was banned from going to a bowl for four years.
