The North Shore Land Alliance implements an education program to teach local students in grades 4-6 about the importance of protecting the aquifer and local water sources. The Long Island Water Education Program reached 275 students in its first year through classroom lessons and field trips, where students test water quality and collect soil samples to learn how their actions can impact the environment. The program aims to engage the community in the Alliance's mission to preserve the green spaces of Long Island's North Shore.
