Provided community green infrastructure trainings and workshops to mitigate storm-
water pollution impacts in the Wallkill River Watershed engaging citizens and
municipalities in the construction of rain barrels, rain gardens and wetland reforestation
Developed the proposed Sparta Greenbelt Plan for presentation to the Sparta Township
Environmental Commission, Mayor and municipal green team to establish a township
educational, recreational and environmental greenway for the Upper Wallkill River
Authored article published in the Rutgers University Green Knight Newsletter
documenting AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador clean-ups across the state in
connection with NJ DEP “Don’t Waste Our Open Space” Initiative
Designed assessment tools and maintenance plan for riparian restoration evaluation and
continued development of wetlands replanting efforts completed by the Wallkill River
Watershed Management Group between 2005-2011 in Station Rd. Park, Sparta Township
Initiated assessment and maintenance of Station Rd. Park Restoration, Sparta Township
including cage removal and tree flagging for identification as well as removal of
phragmytes and competing vegetation. Engaged volunteers from community colleges,
who completed 18 hours of service locating cages, removing wire cages inhibiting or
constricting tree growth, and flagging materials for later identification/assessment.
Completed over 80 hours of training in Project WET, Project Learning Tree, Project
Wild, Macroinvertebrate Sampling and Water Quality Analysis, Invasive Species
Management, Green Infrastructure, and GIS Mapping. Attended conferences and training
for Sustainable NJ Blue Star Program and Clean Ocean Action Education Ambassadors.
