integrity often determines the success or failure of a leader.
Daniel Assouline, the chairman and co-founder of UpClick,
has been successful as a leader because his employees as

 You cannot achieve much, either in personal or professional
life, if people do not trust you and lack faith in your ability.
Trust remains the bedrock of every successful relationship
in the world.
 Trust, however, is not build in a day. It takes time. People
closely watch you and assess your value system, ethics, and
integrity. They will put their trust and respect in a leader
who practices what he preaches.
 In other words, a leader who does what he says and says
what he does is most likely to enjoy a high level of trust.
In the following section we shall look at some other
important factors that help people become successful
leaders.
 People who have doubts in their ability will find it
extremely tough to inspire confidence in others. Deep
down a person in a leadership position or aspiring to be a
leader has to truly believe in his own innate worth.
 High self-esteem is an important criterion for a person to
be a successful leader. A person who lacks belief in his or
her own worth often resorts to unsavory or manipulative
tactics.
 They often take credit for other people’s work, push people
around and try to put their finger in every pie just to
convince themselves that they are good at everything they
do. In the end, they just end up being Jack of all trades and
master of none.
 Individuals with low self-esteem do not gain the trust or
respect of other people. All their efforts of convincing
people that they are there to help them fall on deaf ears.
People know from their past experience that such people
are not to be trusted, as there is often a large gap between
what they say and what they do.
 Daniel Assouline, the chairman and co-founder of
Montreal, Canada-based payment processing company,
UpClick, has been a successful leader due to his high self-
esteem.
 He is a leader who has immense faith in his abilities. He
does not put his own success above that of anyone else. His
employees trust him because he is really a supportive and
empowering leader. There is a high level of consistency in
what he says and does.
 This is a pretty simple thing to comprehend. If you do not
show care and concern for others, they are going to do the
same to you. You have to make people feel important and
wanted.
 People are unlikely to trust leaders who are only bothered
about their own success and care little for their
subordinates’ growth and development. There is always a
question rattling in the back of people’s mind about how
much a leader cares for the subordinates’ growth and
development.
 People have to feel that the leader will not sell them up the
river for their own selfish gains. They need to be assured
that the leader will not take all the credits for a successful
operation and leave them in a lurch, facing flaks if things go
awry.
 Daniel Assouline, the chairman and co-founder of UpClick,
is a leader who recognizes the efforts and hard work of his
employees and never shies away from giving them the
credit they deserve.
 He is a leader who inspires his followers through
engagement. He believes in their abilities and values their
opinions and judgments. He understands his workers well
and tries his utmost to fulfill their aspirations, goals, and
dreams.
 In a highly competitive business environment marked by
chaos and uncertainty, your past record is no longer an
accurate predictor of your future performance. A person
may be incredibly successful in the past, but you are a
misfit today, if you cannot accurately comprehend the
contemporary business environment.
 Good leaders as such are continuous learners. They are avid
readers and closely watch their own business as well as the
business of their competitors. They want to keep on
updating their skills and are always on the lookout for
trying new and innovative ways of doing things.
 Poor leaders, on the other hand, suffer from the
misconception that the skills acquired in the past will move
them forward with ease. This is a grave folly and they often
end up paying a heavy price for it.
 Promises are easier to make but hard to deliver. Good
leaders understand this. They do not make grandiose
promises, but honor those that they have made. Reliability
helps build trust. Great leaders ensure that their word is
their honor.
 Daniel Assouline, the chairman and co-founder of UpClick,
enjoys a high level of trust from his employees. He is a high
performance leader who openly and freely shares
information and keeps his word.
