WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA?
 Social media was defined by investopia.com as “A digital technology that allows the sharing of ideas and
information, including text and visuals, through virtual networks and communities.”. This is a pretty good
description of the concept of social media. However Social Media has become a lot more than that to
many people and businesses. When used in the correct way Social Media can be a strategical asset.
WHY SHOULD WE CARE
 There are plenty reasons that businesses should care about social media. Businesses with no social
media presence are in an incredible disposition and are missing out on an entire new way of getting
customers.
HOW MUCH REACH DOES SOCIAL MEDIA ACTUALLY HAVE?
 According to The Search Engine Journal, there are approximately 4.8 billion social media users
worldwide, representing 59.9% of the global population and 92.7% of all internet users. So its safe to say
that social media has a good reach.
HOW HAS SOCIAL MEDIA EFFECTED MARKETING?

 One of the main effects that Social Media has had on the field of marketing is helping buisnesses build a
more personal connection with their consumers. This was something that was not as easy to do prior to
social media and Is a very valuable thing to have.

 Another effect that social media has had on the field of marketing is lowering the skill requirement to
become a marketer. You can become a lower-level free lance marketer with little to no real experience.
Using apps like Tik-Tok and Facebook you can help other buisnesses grow their online presence.

 Social Media has also effected the Field of Marketing by allowing free advertisements to be posted at
massive scale by business without having to pay a newspaper or billboard to get the word out.

 The final effect on the field of marketing that was caused by social media is the influx of paid
partnerships between companies and content creators. This has proven to be incredibly successful for
some companies and shouldn’t go overlooked.

 In conclusion, Social Media is an effective tool that when used correctly can help excel your buisneses
marketing program full scale and help you form a more personal connection with your consumers and
audience.
