Persuasive Essay About Makeup
In past times, there were few makeup products to choose from. A majority of these products were home–made. As time has went on, more products
were made as makeup and beauty products became popular as the advertisement industry began to grow. At this point in time, many places sell
products with prices affordable up to being ridiculous prices but they are sold because of the want for the products by many people. Advertising
is everywhere; from billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and the radio. In the advertisements, they include a description of what the
product is supposedly able to do to make you look "flawless" or "beautiful". The thought that you need a beauty product to meet society's
expectations is not good and can affect your self esteem especially if the product does not even do what it was supposed to have done. In the 21st
century, make up is used for many things from covering up natural parts of your skin like redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing make up for
a date, costumes, holidays, going to the store, work, or even school. Society makes it seem as if you want to be beautiful you have to have a face
full of makeup and perfect skin like the models used in advertisements. The models used for advertising skin products already have what society's
view of perfect skin is without the use of the product. These models are not chosen due to the use of the product on their skin making them look the
way they do but because they are society's view of

What Aspects Of The Museum Provide The Visitor With An...
"When we say that something is original ... we are referring to the aspect of what can be called authenticity or genuineness, that which is unique not
because it is necessarily different in topic or technique, but because it embodies one person's experience with deep particularity." This statement, made
by the poet Jane Hirshfield, has provoked a reevaluation of my ideas of an authentic work of art, especially within the museum. Authenticity has some
definite, and some more vague definitions. In the following paper, I plan to explore what aspects of the museum provide the visitor with an authentic
experience, allowing them to access something authentic. Three institutions will be examined: Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library (Winterthur), the
Barnes Foundation, and Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG); each institution provides the visitor with a different type of experience, some more
authentic than others. I would first like to start by examining Winterthur within the context of the article, "The Precession of Simulacra," by Jean
Baudrillard. Baudrillard describes different levels and types of simulacra that exist, which I view as a sort of scale between simulation and hyperreality,
where the real is something entirely separate. Authenticity falls within this model in the real. Winterthur exists in a state of hyperreality. It is a historic
house, which was once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a collector of American decorative arts. In the 1950s the house was converted

Essay Assignment:: A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness by Terry Tempest Williams
Terry Tempest William's written essay, "A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness," delivers to us, with intended purpose using shocking
truths of greed and destruction. Actions took under the cloak and disguise of the needs of civilization, creating more jobs, or even to boost the rich
man's governmental legacy of our badly raped and abused national economy. How continued acts of greed and wanton disregard for the environment,
are endangering nature the wilderness areas we have sought to protect? Acts that leave behind damage and destruction where once nature and
wilderness thrived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars
to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We
are trading the wonder of nature, seen in it's own wilderness area for animal showmanship and entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of
hope and renewal we experience, as we stand in a wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands. The
absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness are under attack. They are in danger of being beyond
repair. It overwhelms the senses, and is not to be tolerated.
That is the message William's words left echoing in my mind. Invisible seeds, deep in my awakening imagination. William's words, written with her
pen, that acts not as a pen, but more like a sword striking out against environmental injustices. Clever words, delivered with careful and planned
precision. Crafted to alert, outrage and then inspire in each of us. To become environmentally and socially responsible. She is more skillful than you

Once upon a time, during the peak of the Great Depression, there was a poor man named Al Jones who spent his days stealing what he needed off
the streets of Manhattan. Across town, in a luxury penthouse suite, lived a woman named Jasmine (Jaz for short), the daughter of the wealthy
socialite, John D. Rockefeller Jr. John had a trusted adviser named Jerry, but little to John's knowledge, he was a member of a ruthless body of
criminals, also known as the Mafia. One day, Al was out trying to steal bread when he ran into Jaz, who was looking through the newspapers at an

about how kind he had been to her during their first encounter. She also thought about how sweet he was when he had already gained her father's

Essay about Eagle Poem
"Explication" In the poem by Joy Harjo called "Eagle Poem," Harjo talks about prayer and life and how they revolve around mother–nature. She
suggests that while being one with nature, we feel we are in a place in which we haven't imagined and the things in which we would love to do in that
magnificent and calming place. After one reads the poem, he/she enjoys the lyrical type of it. This is because "Eagle Poem" sticks to one idea and
extends it throughout the entire poem. For instance, it talks about prayer, nature, and animals from start to finish. In the first three lines of the poem,
Harjo talks about opening oneself up to nature where you feel yourself. She does this by connecting the human body to the sky, earth, sun, and moon....

Once one finishes the poem he/she feels the want to reread it to catch something possibly missed the first time around. Then, if one learns about
who Joy Harjo is and where she is from, one will truly understand this poem. After learning that the author has a Native American and Canadian
ancestry, things that were unclear became extremely visible. It was easy to relate to the idea of this poem due to religious reasons and ones faith
in prayer. If one believes in prayer and nature bringing peace to oneself, then one can relate to this poem in a deeper manner. "Eagle Poem" has
turned out to be more enjoyable and intriguing than expected. The style throughout the poem was well thought out by Harjo though she is writing
about a very soft topic. Although she is speaking from her ancestry, she effectively presents strong points in a well organized manner. Though one
might not find peacefulness in everyday life, there is always that one place for everyone, just not imagined quite yet. "Poet Biography" Throughout
Harjos career, she has had many accomplishments not only as a poet, but as a person in general. She has had many hardships to overcome
throughout her life, but those experiences are what have made her the poet she is today. Born on May 9, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma Joy Harjo comes
from two well known ancestries; Native American and Canadian (Joy). In her early years she was more involved with her painter family then her native

Betty Williams was awarded the 1976 Nobel Peace Prize for her work and devotion to bettering the lives of suffering children. The 1976 Nobel Peace
Prize was jointly awarded to Betty Williams and her partner Mairead Corrigan in 1977 because the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided that the 1976

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Friction Pile
FOUNDATIONS – Friction piles
What is a Friction pile?
In friction piles the load is resisted by friction between the surface of the pile and the surrounding soil. A pure friction pile is usually quite long due to
the fact that the load carrying capacity is a function of the shaft being in contact with the soil.
When would a friction pile be used?
This kind of pile is used when there are no signs of hard rock materials present at a reasonable depth. (A softer material for the pile to drive through)
Advantage
Where sands of medium to low density are found, friction piles can be used to increase the density and therefore the strength.
Disadvantage
If there are layers of rock or any rocklike material present then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mentoring in the Workplace
Executive Summary Some major business executives may say that earlier in their career they established a mentor relationship that helped them to get
to where they are in their career. Research has shown that this statement can be true for some executives but not for all. Some experts believe that just
having mentor relationships can or cannot affect someone's career path and development. The purpose of this paper is to explain exactly what
mentoring is and how it successful works within the workplace environment. Using support from various scholarly articles, I was able to discuss define
the concept of mentoring and how it relates within the workplace setting. Using this concept, I establish the role of the mentor and mentee in regards ...

Communication is key at the beginning of the relationship, mentees have to express to their mentors their "needs, future goals, and the kind of help they
want from the mentoring relationship" (Moore, Miller, Pitchford & Jeng 2008, p.78). Mentees should not be consumed with having the perfect mentor,
but should use their energy to invest in the mentoring relationship, and give it time to grow and develop where trust and respect are one in the same
(Janasz, Sullivan, & Whiting, 2003, p. 84). Mentors and mentees should establish a structure to their relationship in order for both parties to achieve
something out of it.
Establishment of Mentoring Relationships When a company establishes a corporate mentoring program there are some factors that have to be
considered. There has to be an understanding of the "organizational dynamics," and use these dynamics to create strategy, process, and programs for the
mentoring relationships (Friday & Friday, 2002, p.154) The purpose of having a strategy for corporate mentoring is to have it align with the objectives
and long term goals of the organization. Without an efficient strategy in place there cannot be a process or programs established. Once a mentoring
program is established, the organization should decide what type of mentoring relationship they want to institute. There are two types of mentoring
relationships, informal and formal. An informal mentoring relationship is one that is not created

My Experience with Community Engagement Activities As an adult, my first connection with a formal community engagement organization was in
the late 1980s when my husband and I served on a study team for the Jacksonville Community Council (JCC) in Florida. Created in 1975, this
non–profit's mission was to assemble citizens from all walks of life for a one–year, in–depth study of a complex issue affecting the city and her

implementation of agreed–upon solutions. A variety of voices were invited to the discussion and time was allotted for thoughtful debate and analysis.
The dynamic of "learning to disagree" was extremely valuable as we became aware of our own bias and preferences. The other significant community

Mentoring In The Classroom
III.Mentoring Life is a continuous learning experience, so even those who are knowledgeable still need someone to act as their mentors. As we
continue to seek for knowledge, we become more efficient in our chosen field or career path. Just like being a teacher, it is like a rollercoaster ride
of a colorful experience. In times when a teacher is on top, he feels like he doesn't need anyone but when he's at the bottom, he will seek for an
experienced teacher to motivate him and bring back the momentum to him. However, no matter if you are on top or the bottom, a teacher should
always look up to someone for professional learning. Mentoring is a teacher to motivational teacher scenario that is an effective technique for obtaining
professional development. The objectives of this strategy are to assist new teachers most especially as they begin their career as educators and to hone
the leadership ability of mentors. By using this strategy, the expected results would be the enhancement of quality learning while developing teachers'
knowledge; establishing professional learning communities and honing leadership ability within the school. The key elements mentioned in the book

Persuasive Essay About Makeup
Even six thousand years ago, makeup had a presence in many societies. There were only a few products to use for your skin, a majority of these
products were home–made. As time has progressed, different types of products have been made as makeup and beauty products became popular. At
the time in which makeup became popular, many places sell products with prices affordable up to absurd prices, these products still can be sold due to
a majority of the make–up wearing population that wants to have the most modern and fascinating products. Advertising has a presence everywhere;
billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and on your radio stations are all methods of sharing products. In advertisements, an included description
of how specific products are supposed to aid your skin makes a mark. These descriptions often don't coincide with the products actual wear which can
cause one to feel self–conscious or lower one's self–esteem due to society's harsh judgment on makeup.
At the turn of the 21st century, makeup has a large variety of different uses, from covering up natural parts of your skin, including redness,
blemishes, and freckles to wearing makeup for a date, costumes, holidays, shopping at the store, or attending work and school. Society makes the
idea of beauty seem as if there is a requirement to have a face full of makeup and perfect skin similar to that of the model's used in advertisements.

Summary: Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposal
Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposals Submitting a grant proposal is a time consuming and difficult process that can be made more efficient and
effective by completing these proposals online instead of the time–honored process of submitting proposals on paper. Comparing Foundations that
solicit grant proposals online can be a daunting prospect, however with time and research the online process can be made simpler for not only the
requester but for the grantor. Applying a sound strategy to the online grantproposal process can help a proposal submission be successful.
Online versus Paper Traditionally the process of obtaining a grant from a funder required not only research on the topic, laying out the purpose and

Beyond that, requirements are only visible to actual requesters. However, the requirements do appear to be very similar for the requests. WKKF does
advise that their grant requests are for program or project assistance and they encourage organizations that are requesting operations support to contact
their customer service group directly for assistance, this does portend an effort to find a niche for all requesters that have a need related to the health
and welfare of community and children (WKKF, 2017). Of all the foundations researched, WKKF has the most user–friendly process with the most
assistance being offered within the process, while the online process for TRF appears to be the most stringent and difficult to maneuver.
Conclusion
Online grant proposal submission is the trending method to request grant funds from companies and foundations. There are some additional challenges
with the online process, namely user ids, passwords, character and time limits, as well as submitting pre–proposal intent or application information.
Most of the online proposal processes across the researched funding foundations appear to have similar requirements and timelines. Even with the
additional online steps the process is more streamlined than the traditional paper

Methods Of Construction At 4.1 Pile Foundation
4. METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION 4.1 PILE FOUNDATION: Piles are structural members that are made up of steel, concrete, or timber. They are
used to build pile foundations, which are deep and which cost more than shallow foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to
ensure structural safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly
compressible and too weak to carry the load transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the load to underlying bedrocks or a
stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth below the ground surface, piles are used to transmit
the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the applied structural load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil–pile
interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal forces, pile foundations resist by bending while still supporting the
vertical load transmitted by the superstructure. This type of situation is generally encountered in the design and construction of earth–retaining
structures and foundations of tall structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3. In many cases, expansive and collapsible soils
may be present at the site of a proposed structure. These soils may extend to a

The general understanding of subjects in Impressionist paintings are often linked to a new representation of a newfound modernized society. Beyond
modernization in the nineteenth century Impressionist paintings also discloses the newer economic and social state of that time: Capitalism. By the
mid–1800s people were divided into various classes, the most popular being the upper class bourgeoisie and the working class proletariat.
Industrialization increased the lust for commodities, which in turn overburdened the working class. The division between status and wealth induced
strong social effects at the time, which resulted in a new sense of isolation.
Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day begun production in 1876 and was finished early in 1877, showing a flaneur's–eye view of an ordinary
slice of bourgeois life. The painting shared spotlight with Auguste Renoir's Ball at the Moulin de la Galette, and was first exhibited along with Le Pont
de L'Europe and Claude Monet's series of the Saint–Lazare train station at the third Impressionist exhibition in 1877.
Paris Street; Rainy Day places us upon a rain–soaked sidewalk directly in front the Place de Dublin, an intersection made up of eight streets near the
Gare St. Lazare. A fashionably dressed bourgeois couple who are often referred to as 'Flaneur's' are the major figures in the painting as they politely
avert their eyes from the viewer, seemingly unaware of what will be a collision of umbrellas with the man entering

The Four Roles Of Mentoring And Mentoring In The Odyssey
The origin of the term mentor dates back to the near end of 18th century BC, when the Greek epic poem Odyssey, written by Homer, is believed to
have been composed. As the main character, Odysseus, embarks in a 20 year long journey, he asks his friend, Mentor, to guide his son during his
absence. Mentor accepts it, and acts as a father figure, teacher, role model, leader, and friend to Telemachus (Online Etymology Dictionary).
Modern interpretations of mentoring pinpoint four distinct roles which mentors are expected to play: role modeling, sponsorship, coaching, and
counseling the mentee. These many roles are played by the mentor so the mentee is able to accomplish personal and professional growth. These
mentoring roles are focused on end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus they search for different ways of carrying out their activities successfully. Also organizations must consider a range of factors that meet
stakeholder's expectations since no organization exists without their cooperation.
Meyer and Herscovitch (2001) argue that commitment is an energy that attracts an individual to behave in accordance to the importance of a given
task. Additionally, they claim that varying levels of dedication result in different behaviors. Thus, it can be said that commitment also has the potential
to affect employees' performance and loyalty to the organizations (Schminke 2011). Although there are many different concepts of the connection
between personal and organizational values, Kristof (as cited in Finegan 2010) has defined it as:
The compatibility between people and organizations that occurs when: (a) at least one entity provides what the other needs, or (b) they share similar
fundamental characteristics, or (c) both (p. 5).
Therefore, the nature and extent of the relationship between organization and stakeholder, and also its dynamics must be considered in mentoring

An event should celebrate your school's mission and vision;
An event should help you identify and engage new prospects for your school;
An event should raise money in support of your school's overall mission or for a particular program; and,

With a full basement, your foundation walls should be high enough so that you have at least seven feet, four inches of head space in the finished

the forms before pouring for such things as the water supply and the sewage outlet, the pipe is placed through the hole and the space between the pipe
and the wall is patched. This is the easiest method used to get a tight, waterproof fit. .

sewer line and water pipes that will be under the concrete.

Albert C. Barnes : A Man Beyond His Time
Albert C. Barnes was a man beyond his time. While the post–impressionists were being scrutinized and just starting to become better known, Barnes
was collecting their work and amassing a huge collection of post–impressionist and early modern art. The Barnes Foundation, created by Barnes in
1922 to "promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and horticulture."1, has one of the greatest collections of
post–impressionist and early modern art in existence. With extensive collections from Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and many more art masters
of the time. These collections were artfully arranged for display in a building Barnes crafted specifically for the display and study of his collection.
Barnes willed his collection to never be sold, rented, or lent to any extent and to stay where he left it. Since his sudden death in 1951, this statement has
been scrutinized and debated, ultimately leading to turmoil and conflict even in the courts, and the collection was eventually moved from Barnes' space
in Merion County, Pennsylvania to the center of Philadelphia. This decision to move theBarnes Foundation, while questionable in process, was
ultimately the right decision because the Barnes collection is so fantastic that everyone should be able to see it, opening to more viewers promotes the
education that Barnes was passionate about, it was the best way to keep the Barnes Foundation open for business financially, and it is best for the art

Oftentimes, new teachers are provided with little to no professional guidance, and because of that, nearly fifty percent of teachers leave the classroom
within the first five years. This turnover rate not only has an impact on kids, since they lose the person they were connected with, but it also costs the
nation roughly 7.4 billion dollars a year. This video, which focuses on the Hillsborough County Public School System, in Tampa, Florida, brings to light
the importance of mentor teachers for first and second year teachers. Through the gathering of evidence and classroom observations, these mentor
teachers provide the passion for new teachers and help to unlock their potential. Since the implementation of the mentor program their retention of new
teachers has gone from 72% to 94%.

how a woman should have it all, a profession, a family, and an education, but society consequently made women feel as though they aren't made to

week and return home and deal with their children, essentially working a second full–time work. This brought on numerous women to lessen their

School Based Mentoring Programs ( Sbmp )
School–based mentoring programs (SBMP) have become widely used due to their presumptuously simple implementation and effective results;
however, they remain to be scientifically under–developed and require integrity during implementation (Miller et al., 2013; Smith & Stormont, 2011).
Undoubtedly, SBMP have been shown to improve students: attitudes, confidence, school engagement, school performance, behaviour, vocational skills,
and emotional and social skills (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Miller et al., 2013; Schwartz, Rhodes, & Herrera, 2012). Contrarily, these
promising outcomes are equally met with many studies that show: no, or only little, improvements; only short–lived results; or only effectiveness with
certain types of students (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; McQuillin, Smith, & Strait, 2011; Miller et al., 2013).
A major understanding that many program designers seemingly fail to comprehend is that SBMP are not 'general–purpose' programs. Thus, many
SBMP are not designed and implemented strategically. Particularly problematic for these poorly designed programs are: the lack of defined success
outcomes, measurements of success being open to biases, the ambiguous and faulty evaluations of such programs, and the individual program's
diversity of standards, budgets, objectives, and implementation (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Gusic et al., 2010; Schwartz, Rhodes, & Herrera,
2012; Smith & Stormont, 2011). Evidently, the difficulty of replicating the

Harry Markowitz Theory Of Finance Theory
Markowitz was hardly the first to consider the desirability of diversification.
Harry Max Markowitz – this is one of the founders of the theory of finance, the fastest growing economic sciences. This lays the foundation for the
applied financial management in a company, using the tools and methods of investigation with a help of which any company can analyze its financial
position, to assess the value of its capital and its structure, to select the best investment project and to manage it or to decide how and how many shares

However, Markowitz portfolio allocation theory is highly criticised, because the final portfolios are not adequately diversified. This model was applied
to a South African market, so that it gives unrealistic portfolios, that are not diversified enough, as portfolio managers noticed (McLeod (1998).
It was also discovered in a Bowen article, that Markowitz allocation portfolio theory requires a large data volume and pointed out on the difficulty in
covariance estimation. He doubted in the reliability of the model predictions and deduced, that existed statistical barriers do not let an average portfolio
manager to use only this model in his day–to–day activities. (Bowen 1984:21)
According to the Michaud, the Markowitz portfolio allocation model isn't widely used in practice despite its theoretical success because of 3 reasons:
Fundamentally demanding nature of model;

Ignite Incur Foundations Case Summary
Problem:
All foundations need support in order to be viable philanthropic institutions. This support includes filing all of the paper work associated with the grants
approval process, vetting the IRS standings of nonprofits before grants can be made, doing preliminary screenings of nonprofits to identify if their
missions match the missions of the foundations they are attempting to solicit ect. Larger foundations (50 million dollars and over in net assets) are
able to hire a fulltime staff to handle these duties. Smaller foundations (100 thousand dollars to five million dollars) often times give one of the
trustee's lawyers a few extra billable hours for the lawyer to manage the foundation as there is less a smaller volume of administrative work associated
with making fewer grants. Midsized foundations (5 million dollars – 50million dollars in net assets) struggle because they do not have enough
administrative duties to warrant a full time salaried employee, however they are too big to be managed effectively and efficiently by a lawyer or
accountant. This discrepancy can cause a lot of logistical issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages Of One To-One Mentoring
1)One –to – One Mentoring This is used when a mentor interacts with all his mentees on one–to–one basis. The model works well when the mentor
wants to seek personal information of his mentees, their knowledge background ,their skills ,abilities and competencies present, so that he can work
upon their development by defining each mentee's career path. Also the mentor can go with the SWOT Analysis of all the students and then work upon
their weaknesses converting them into their strengths to be successful. Availability of mentors is the only real limitation in one–on–one mentoring.
2)Group Mentoring Group Mentoring provides for a greater number of students to benefit from mentoring as opposed to the limitations of a 1–on–1
mentoring program. It also provides for greater exposure to multiple levels of expertise and knowledge as each participant brings his /her own
competencies to the group that can be shared. Group mentoring is basically done when the mentor has common instruction for a project assigned,
some specific study related guidance, discussing basics of an interview , developing hobbies ,giving examination related tips, etc. Scheduling a large
number of mentees to meet regularly and addressing each member's different needs against the overall group needs may pose a... Show more content on

The Importance Of Mentoring
Criminologist James Fox of Northeastern University predicts that murders committed by teens will skyrocket as the population of kids 10 and under is
higher than population of 21st century teens by 20%. (Stephens) Mentoring is the act of helping out someone that isn't as knowledgeable or
experienced in different areas. The goal is to make them leaders. (Patterson)
To be a good mentor you have to have great qualities like being helpful and being really good at giving good constructive criticism. Whomever you're
mentoring should receive information that is both positive and negative. You want to makes sure you give pros and cons so that your mentee can learn
from them. (Patterson) Some social activities that you can do in mentoring programs include talking about life experiences, having lunch together, and
visiting the mentor's home for a bonding experience. (Wexler) Although most mentoring programs usually have short durations and are claimed to be
a "waste of money," they are beneficial to girls because they prevent peer pressure, diseases, and pregnancies; encourage girls to be more mannerable,
respectful, and ladylike; and results in kids being more likely to graduate high school and attend college. Mentoring is necessary to a healthy society
because it prevents pregnancies, peer pressure, & diseases. Sixth graders are in a transitioning stage from elementary to middle schools. A lot of them
are experiencing peer pressure. They see friends do things and they're not sure

  • 2. Persuasive Essay About Makeup In past times, there were few makeup products to choose from. A majority of these products were home–made. As time has went on, more products were made as makeup and beauty products became popular as the advertisement industry began to grow. At this point in time, many places sell products with prices affordable up to being ridiculous prices but they are sold because of the want for the products by many people. Advertising is everywhere; from billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and the radio. In the advertisements, they include a description of what the product is supposedly able to do to make you look "flawless" or "beautiful". The thought that you need a beauty product to meet society's expectations is not good and can affect your self esteem especially if the product does not even do what it was supposed to have done. In the 21st century, make up is used for many things from covering up natural parts of your skin like redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing make up for a date, costumes, holidays, going to the store, work, or even school. Society makes it seem as if you want to be beautiful you have to have a face full of makeup and perfect skin like the models used in advertisements. The models used for advertising skin products already have what society's view of perfect skin is without the use of the product. These models are not chosen due to the use of the product on their skin making them look the way they do but because they are society's view of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Aspects Of The Museum Provide The Visitor With An... "When we say that something is original ... we are referring to the aspect of what can be called authenticity or genuineness, that which is unique not because it is necessarily different in topic or technique, but because it embodies one person's experience with deep particularity." This statement, made by the poet Jane Hirshfield, has provoked a reevaluation of my ideas of an authentic work of art, especially within the museum. Authenticity has some definite, and some more vague definitions. In the following paper, I plan to explore what aspects of the museum provide the visitor with an authentic experience, allowing them to access something authentic. Three institutions will be examined: Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library (Winterthur), the Barnes Foundation, and Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG); each institution provides the visitor with a different type of experience, some more authentic than others. I would first like to start by examining Winterthur within the context of the article, "The Precession of Simulacra," by Jean Baudrillard. Baudrillard describes different levels and types of simulacra that exist, which I view as a sort of scale between simulation and hyperreality, where the real is something entirely separate. Authenticity falls within this model in the real. Winterthur exists in a state of hyperreality. It is a historic house, which was once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a collector of American decorative arts. In the 1950s the house was converted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

English 1104: Written English I (2053 words) Essay Assignment:: A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness by Terry Tempest Williams Terry Tempest William's written essay, "A Shark in the Mind of One Contemplating Wilderness," delivers to us, with intended purpose using shocking truths of greed and destruction. Actions took under the cloak and disguise of the needs of civilization, creating more jobs, or even to boost the rich man's governmental legacy of our badly raped and abused national economy. How continued acts of greed and wanton disregard for the environment, are endangering nature the wilderness areas we have sought to protect? Acts that leave behind damage and destruction where once nature and wilderness thrived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We capture, contain, and control the very wildness of these animals, we so admire them for. We decorate a large bucket of water, or a box of bars to resemble a shallow shadow of the wilderness they should be in. These animals held captive in collective groups as a means to entertain us. We are trading the wonder of nature, seen in it's own wilderness area for animal showmanship and entertainment. Losing the remarkable sensations of hope and renewal we experience, as we stand in a wilderness land, quietly observing animals and nature in the wildly beautiful and raw lands. The absence of our own lack of realization that nature and the wild places we call the wilderness are under attack. They are in danger of being beyond repair. It overwhelms the senses, and is not to be tolerated. That is the message William's words left echoing in my mind. Invisible seeds, deep in my awakening imagination. William's words, written with her pen, that acts not as a pen, but more like a sword striking out against environmental injustices. Clever words, delivered with careful and planned precision. Crafted to alert, outrage and then inspire in each of us. To become environmentally and socially responsible. She is more skillful than you realize at first. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She suggests that while being one with nature, we feel we are in a place in which we haven't imagined and the things in which we would love to do in that magnificent and calming place. After one reads the poem, he/she enjoys the lyrical type of it. This is because "Eagle Poem" sticks to one idea and extends it throughout the entire poem. For instance, it talks about prayer, nature, and animals from start to finish. In the first three lines of the poem, Harjo talks about opening oneself up to nature where you feel yourself. She does this by connecting the human body to the sky, earth, sun, and moon.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was easy to relate to the idea of this poem due to religious reasons and ones faith in prayer. If one believes in prayer and nature bringing peace to oneself, then one can relate to this poem in a deeper manner. "Eagle Poem" has turned out to be more enjoyable and intriguing than expected. The style throughout the poem was well thought out by Harjo though she is writing about a very soft topic. Although she is speaking from her ancestry, she effectively presents strong points in a well organized manner. Though one might not find peacefulness in everyday life, there is always that one place for everyone, just not imagined quite yet. "Poet Biography" Throughout Harjos career, she has had many accomplishments not only as a poet, but as a person in general. She has had many hardships to overcome throughout her life, but those experiences are what have made her the poet she is today. Mentoring in the Workplace Executive Summary Some major business executives may say that earlier in their career they established a mentor relationship that helped them to get to where they are in their career. Research has shown that this statement can be true for some executives but not for all. Some experts believe that just having mentor relationships can or cannot affect someone's career path and development. The purpose of this paper is to explain exactly what mentoring is and how it successful works within the workplace environment. Communication is key at the beginning of the relationship, mentees have to express to their mentors their "needs, future goals, and the kind of help they want from the mentoring relationship" (Moore, Miller, Pitchford & Jeng 2008, p.78). Mentees should not be consumed with having the perfect mentor, but should use their energy to invest in the mentoring relationship, and give it time to grow and develop where trust and respect are one in the same (Janasz, Sullivan, & Whiting, 2003, p. 84). Mentors and mentees should establish a structure to their relationship in order for both parties to achieve something out of it. Establishment of Mentoring Relationships When a company establishes a corporate mentoring program there are some factors that have to be considered. There has to be an understanding of the "organizational dynamics," and use these dynamics to create strategy, process, and programs for the mentoring relationships (Friday & Friday, 2002, p.154) The purpose of having a strategy for corporate mentoring is to have it align with the objectives and long term goals of the organization. As we continue to seek for knowledge, we become more efficient in our chosen field or career path. Just like being a teacher, it is like a rollercoaster ride of a colorful experience. In times when a teacher is on top, he feels like he doesn't need anyone but when he's at the bottom, he will seek for an experienced teacher to motivate him and bring back the momentum to him. However, no matter if you are on top or the bottom, a teacher should always look up to someone for professional learning. Mentoring is a teacher to motivational teacher scenario that is an effective technique for obtaining professional development. The objectives of this strategy are to assist new teachers most especially as they begin their career as educators and to hone the leadership ability of mentors. Persuasive Essay About Makeup Even six thousand years ago, makeup had a presence in many societies. There were only a few products to use for your skin, a majority of these products were home–made. At the time in which makeup became popular, many places sell products with prices affordable up to absurd prices, these products still can be sold due to a majority of the make–up wearing population that wants to have the most modern and fascinating products. Advertising has a presence everywhere; billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and on your radio stations are all methods of sharing products. In advertisements, an included description of how specific products are supposed to aid your skin makes a mark. These descriptions often don't coincide with the products actual wear which can cause one to feel self–conscious or lower one's self–esteem due to society's harsh judgment on makeup. At the turn of the 21st century, makeup has a large variety of different uses, from covering up natural parts of your skin, including redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing makeup for a date, costumes, holidays, shopping at the store, or attending work and school. They are used to build pile foundations, which are deep and which cost more than shallow foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to ensure structural safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly compressible and too weak to carry the load transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the load to underlying bedrocks or a stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth below the ground surface, piles are used to transmit the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the applied structural load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil–pile interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal forces, pile foundations resist by bending while still supporting the vertical load transmitted by the superstructure. This type of situation is generally encountered in the design and construction of earth–retaining structures and foundations of tall structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3. Beyond modernization in the nineteenth century Impressionist paintings also discloses the newer economic and social state of that time: Capitalism. By the mid–1800s people were divided into various classes, the most popular being the upper class bourgeoisie and the working class proletariat. Industrialization increased the lust for commodities, which in turn overburdened the working class. The division between status and wealth induced strong social effects at the time, which resulted in a new sense of isolation. Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day begun production in 1876 and was finished early in 1877, showing a flaneur's–eye view of an ordinary slice of bourgeois life. The painting shared spotlight with Auguste Renoir's Ball at the Moulin de la Galette, and was first exhibited along with Le Pont de L'Europe and Claude Monet's series of the Saint–Lazare train station at the third Impressionist exhibition in 1877. Paris Street; Rainy Day places us upon a rain–soaked sidewalk directly in front the Place de Dublin, an intersection made up of eight streets near the Gare St. Lazare. School Based Mentoring Programs ( Sbmp ) School–based mentoring programs (SBMP) have become widely used due to their presumptuously simple implementation and effective results; however, they remain to be scientifically under–developed and require integrity during implementation (Miller et al., 2013; Smith & Stormont, 2011). Undoubtedly, SBMP have been shown to improve students: attitudes, confidence, school engagement, school performance, behaviour, vocational skills, and emotional and social skills (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Miller et al., 2013; Schwartz, Rhodes, & Herrera, 2012). Contrarily, these promising outcomes are equally met with many studies that show: no, or only little, improvements; only short–lived results; or only effectiveness with certain types of students (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; McQuillin, Smith, & Strait, 2011; Miller et al., 2013). A major understanding that many program designers seemingly fail to comprehend is that SBMP are not 'general–purpose' programs. Thus, many SBMP are not designed and implemented strategically. Particularly problematic for these poorly designed programs are: the lack of defined success outcomes, measurements of success being open to biases, the ambiguous and faulty evaluations of such programs, and the individual program's diversity of standards, budgets, objectives, and implementation (Converse & Lignugaris/Kraft, 2009; Gusic et al., 2010; Schwartz, Rhodes, & Herrera, 2012; Smith & Stormont, 2011).
