Improve Access to Raw
Materials and Components
A robust global supply of renewable raw ma-
terials and components is essential. Wides-
pread access to materials and components –
from the minerals required to construct wind
turbines to electric vehicles – is needed to
help speed up the switch to renewable forms
of energy.
Level the Playing Field
Developing and deploying renewable ener-
gy technologies needs to be made possible
for all countries. To this end, domestic policy
frameworks need to reform to fast-track and
streamline renewable energy projects and in-
centivize investment from the private sector.
Change How Energy Subsidies
Work
Granting subsidies to the renewable energy
sector, as opposed to the fossil fuel indus-
try (as is currently the case), will speed up
the transition to renewables, as well as cut
emissions, contribute to economic growth,
and create jobs. Subsidizing fossil fuels is
inequitable and inefficient; according to the
IMF, when it comes to developing countries,
around half of the public resources invested
to support fossil fuel consumption only be-
nefits the wealthiest 20% of the population.
