A presentation by Marc Collett (Slack Team 26262) reframing bread as the new symbol of World Peace with an estimated potential global annual value of £4.51 Trillion - Wow!
2. Text
Ancient World Order
Bread has been baked in myriad forms since the early days of farming
It has been a staple food in most cultures around the world for centuries
People started ‘adding’ value to bread by using it to wrap other products and as a
base for other basic ingredients (pizza, pides, kebabs etc.)
3. The Earl of Sandwich is credited with inventing the sandwich in
the 18th century - reputedly he asked his servants to place
slices of meat between two slices of bread to allow him to carry
on at the gambling table
A multi-billion industry was just around the corner
4. Pre-made sandwich sales reached 3 billion in 2010 in the UK
generating £6 billion in revenues
Not a bad performance for a humble loaf in the middle of a
recession
5. Mass produced sliced bread has dominated bread sales for the
past three decades
But this is fast becoming the Old Order
6. New World Order
Home bread making, craft and artisans breads produced in small
batches are making a comeback - reframing bread in its
traditional form
7. Bread is perfect for sharing - the breaking of bread is both an
ancient and a modern urban phrase for ‘sharing’
The Next World Order ......
8. Bread as the NEW symbol of world peace
A universal staple
A food for life
A symbol of togetherness
9. Old World Order
The white dove of peace - if we’re truthful, not really done its
job to date
Bring in the new world order..........
11. MEASURING THE VALUE
So what is the value of bringing peace to the world?
The Institute of Economics and Peace produces a Global Peace
Index which assesses the ‘peace’ index of 158 countries
12. The potential benefit to global GDP of those 158 countries
sharing bread, adopting peace and investing in non-violence is
£4.51 Trillion per year
Yes......£4.51 Trillion ($7.2 Trillion)
So, at one loaf per country (158)
That’s a potential £28.5 Billion
Yes......£28.5 Billion
13. =
And let’s say that sharing bread has an initial 10% success rate in
creating world peace...
The value of 1 loaf of bread in Year One would be
£2.85 BILLION
