3. When we buy an
ice-cream, we eat
it quickly before it
melts and becomes
a liquid.

4. When a solid
changes to a
liquid, we call it a
change of state.

5. Substances can change state when they change temperature.

6. Expansion

7. When we heat an object, its temperature increases
and it expands. This is called expansion.

8. When we stop heating the object, it cools down and
returns to its original size.
