6. Prepositional Phrases of Reason
We use some prepositional phrases to explain or give reasons for things:
• because of
• thanks to
• due to
Examples:
1. Thanks to the terrible weather, I was completely wet when I arrived at
the station. And then the trains were late because of a tree that fell on
the line.
2. My low grade was due to lack of study
(Note: due to always follow the verb “to be”)
