1. Professional development
Nowadays, it has been known that teachers need to foster themselves and
to improve their teaching competence according to the students’ need. On one
hand,as Brown stated, teachers need to be concern for continuing their
professional development, one way on doing this is by applying new techniques in
their teaching practice. On the other hand, it is predictable that we as
undergraduate students our main goal is to finish our degree; after that start
working and save money; however, from my perspective experience is one of key
item that the society ask for in order to have the chance to have a job. Moreover,
since I started this major, I have realized the area that I like the most, and also I
have wondered what I would like to seek. Following with the previous idea, another
alternative is the one proposed by Taylor, this process is called research, this
means that in order to obtain information about the current situation, it will be more
valuable when the researcher is the teacher, taking into account that he is the one
with experience and who deals with it in all times.
The assignment also provided a definition for “professional” suggested by
Pettis, basically she emphasized that a professional needs to include the
necessary principles, knowledge and skills, a professional is committed to his job
as well with his students, in order to get the best of his work place. As a future
teacher, this task helps me to understand what a professional really means, and to
notice that there are other resources available outside a classroom or within, where
I can do an improvement, teachers need to keep up learning since knowledge
changes as time goes by. The job of a teacher goes further the classroom; we
need just to look the right place at the right time.
