2. • Made up of lymph, lymph nodes,
lymph vessels, lymphoid tissue.
• There is about 500-700 lymph nodes in
the body.
• It destroys and removes any invading
or abnormal cells and protects the
body from harmful cells.
• Helps the immune system so lymph
can go to the circulatory system

3. Causes of Hodgkin’s lymphoma
The cause is a cell called a reed-sternberg cell that creates
tumors. Some risk factors of getting the disease are:
male
age 15-40 and over 55 years old
have family history with the disease
and having a weakened immune system
4. Symptoms
Some symptoms of Hodgkin’s lymphoma are:
weight loss
fever
Fatigue
sweating during the night
These symptoms also occur to other diseases.
5. Treatment
The treatment of Hodgkin’s disease depends on the
type of Hodgkin’s lymphoma you have, where in the
body it spread to, the size of the tumor and the
patients medical issues and age. Tests will be taken
to check if the cancer spread in the body. Patients
take antibiotics to fight infections. Chemotherapy can
also be taken to treat this cancer.
6. Prognosis
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is one of the most curable types of
cancer. It is easiest to cure if it is treated early. 90% of people
live for at least another 5 more years if the disease had already
spread. If the patient lives for 15 more years then the person
will probably die of another cause. It is important to go to the
doctor for tests so they can check for signs of cancer and for
long term impact on the patient’s body.
7. How does it effect cells?
If cell division in the body goes out of control the cells will not stop
dividing. Too many bad white blood cells may develop in the blood
and create a tumor in lymph nodes.
