2. Courtney, Susan, Ruksana and myself.
All had equal inputs on all tasks to be
completed the best they can
Hour and half filming, hour and 45 editing
Rushed filming would have been even better
with more time
Did very well on editing completed well with
time to spare
3. Used storyboard made up of 10 frames
Shown a practice sequence to show us how to
shoot
Learned not to leave unneeded space in shots
such as an over the shoulder shot
Going through the sequence each time so it
flows better and we know the sequence by
heart.
Learned vital features of camera and tripod to
enable us to shoot the right shot from any
height or angle
4. Cannon HD Camera, Tripod, Editing Software ( Adobe Premier )
Used camera to shoot different shots like long shots, pan shots,
close ups, extreme close ups, over the shoulder shots and two
shots
Using the Tripod enabled us to use the camera at different heights
and angles
We also used the editing software ( Adobe Premier ) on the
computer enabling us to successfully edit our sequence, putting in
the different shots together, cutting our parts we don’t need and
we also managed to add a slow motion effect
I learned how to set up a tripod and safely put on the camera,
which enables us to freely move the camera, I also learned how to
put in the tape, know the correct terms to use when shooting (
take 1, shot 1, action cut ) and how to successfully record shots for
the sequence.
5. When we were planning we had to take in account
the camera shots, so when it came to shooting we
knew exactly what we was shooting for that
particular frame
When shooting we had to take many factors into
account, for example we had to take in account the
area we had to shoot in and what angle the camera
had to be at when trying to get the right shot
When we were editing we had to take in account
how much we needed to cut off of a particular
shot, how much we needed to keep and keeping it
all together
6. Feel as if our sequence was successful
We worked well as a group and It was shown in our
end product, we edited everything where it should be,
with all our different shots evident in the sequence
As well as that independently we worked out to had
add a slow motion effect into a clip in which we used
when throwing the paper down as it made the
sequence look even more dramatic
The only problem we may have encountered was
perhaps we rushed our filming as we had a set time of
1 hour 30 minutes so it made us rush our work a bit
and maybe not got our shots as good as they could
have been, so next time I would like to give ourselves a
bit more time so we can make our shots even better the
next time.
7. I have learnt many key skills with camera work, such as
how to shoot, how to set it up safely on a tripod, which will
be key in future tasks
I have also learnt many key skills with editing, how to cut
shots, how to move shots, how to slow down or speed up
the pace of shots
I also learnt how to manage my time when editing as when
we started to edit we finished with plenty of time to spare
Also learnt how to work with a complete group of people I
don’t know very well to create a successful end product,
using key communication and listening skills so we finished
with the best possible end product.
. As well as that it helped me be more organised as we had
to keep all of our planning, all of our group, and all of our
timings together and organised in one
8. We used the adobe premier software for editing which
is a software I have never used before so everything I
did on their was newly learnt
I learnt how to cut the shots smaller, how to move the
shots to where I want to put them, how to zoom in and
out of the timeline, how to slow and speed up the shot,
and in learning this it helped me successfully edit my
sequence
.We made decisions of cutting our shots by keep
watching a clip over and over again until we got the bit
we wanted then we cut it to the piece we needed
we managed our time very well as we finished with
time to spare and it had a successful end product.
Editor's Notes
My group was Courtney, Susan, Ruksana and myself. We managed our tasks by making sure all of us had an equal input on every task so we all learned key skills needed for not just then but also future tasks. We stayed one day after school for our filming, which took us little over 90 minutes, we then edited our video in a double lesson which took us around 1 hour 45 minutes. We seemed to manage our time quite well as we got all our editing done with time to spare, and just about got our filming done on time though at the start we didn’t feel we would have had enough time to film all the required shots so was quite worried, but we got through it by all of us being strictly professional no playing about and got straight on with all our shots and got them done as quickly as possible to the highest possible standard. We were fairly strong in our editing and believe we did it well, though I feel our problem lied in our filming as we may have rushed a few shots, and could have been even better if we had more time or just took our time a bit more, next time I would make sure we take our time and shoot every shot to perfection.
We planned our sequence through the use of a storyboard, our story board was made up of 10 frames which were equal to the ten shots, also our teachers showed us a practice sequence to give us a hand how to shoot, which taught us many things such as not leaving unneeded space in over the shoulder shots, and how we have to get every little detail the same when shooting when we go through the whole sequence, just for one shot so it flows better. We also had to think about the space we had so we had an idea where exactly our shots would take place for example the walk from the hall to the class and the seats and table, we had to make sure we had the right space and we did. We also had to learn all the vital features of the camera and tripod to enable us to shoot the right shot from any angle and height.
We used a Cannon HD camera, a tripod and a computer, using an editing software to edit our sequence. We used the Cannon HD camera to shoot our shots, with using this we used the zoom, focus and recording button to shoot our shots the best we can enabling us to use long shots, pan shots, close ups, extreme close ups, over the shoulder shots and two shots. Using the Tripod enabled us to use the camera at different heights and angles for example, the shot of my hand opening the door, the angle of the camera is tilted down and without the tripod this would not have been possible to achieve. We also used the editing software ( Adobe Premier ) on the computer enabling us to successfully edit our sequence, putting in the different shots together, cutting our parts we don’t need and we also managed to add a slow motion effect, where we got the screwed up paper dropping in slow motion which added to the effect. In doing this I learned a lot about cameras that I never knew before as before this I had never used a Cannon HD camera. I learned how to set up a tripod and safely put on the camera, which enables us to freely move the camera, I also learned how to put in the tape, know the correct terms to use when shooting ( take 1, shot 1, action cut ) and how to successfully record shots for the sequence.
When we were planning we had to take in account the camera shots, so when it came to shooting we knew exactly what we was shooting for that particular frame, as well as that we had to take in account where we was shooting so we knew what we could do and not over complicate things so it was easy to refer too when shooting. When shooting we had to take many factors into account, for example we had to take in account the area we had to shoot in and what angle the camera had to be at when trying to get the right shot. As well as that, we had to think of all the shots we were doing, so our sequence would flow correctly when we come to editing. When we were editing we had to take in account how much we needed to cut off of a particular shot, how much we needed to keep and keeping it all together, we also had to take in account what shots went together so we came out with the most professional looking end product as possible.
I feel our sequence was very successful as our sequence come out as we hoped and everything came together as we wanted, we worked well as a group and It was shown in our end product, we edited everything where it should be, with all our different shots evident in the sequence, and as well as that independently we worked out to had add a slow motion effect into a clip in which we used when throwing the paper down as it made the sequence look even more dramatic. Though the only problem we may have encountered was perhaps we rushed our filming as we had a set time of 1 hour 30 minutes so it made us rush our work a bit and maybe not got our shots as good as they could have been, so next time I would like to give ourselves a bit more time so we can make our shots even better the next time.
From completing the tasks, I have learnt many key skills with camera work, such as how to shoot, how to set it up safely on a tripod, which will be key in future tasks, I have also learnt many key skills with editing, how to cut shots, how to move shots, how to slow down or speed up the pace of shots. I also learnt how to manage my time when editing as when we started to edit we finished with plenty of time to spare, also learnt how to work with a complete group of people I don’t know very well to create a successful end product, using key communication and listening skills so we finished with the best possible end product. As well as that it helped me be more organised as we had to keep all of our planning, all of our group, and all of our timings together and organised in one, so it vastly improved my organisation skills.
Whilst editing I learned a lot of new things, we used the adobe premier software for editing which is a software I have never used before so everything I did on their was newly learnt, for example I learnt how to cut the shots smaller, how to move the shots to where I want to put them, how to zoom in and out of the timeline, how to slow and speed up the shot, and in learning this it helped me successfully edit my sequence. We made decisions of cutting our shots by keep watching a clip over and over again until we got the bit we wanted then we cut it to the piece we needed, that helped us make our decision for what to do. We were very strong in our editing and we managed our time very well as we finished with time to spare and it had a successful end product.
