3. I. Introduction
The field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) has experienced
significant growth in recent decades, leading to advancements in computer
understanding and generation of human language.
This progress has had a profound impact on applications such as machine
translation, information retrieval, and sentiment analysis. However, despite
these achievements, NLP still faces a number of challenges that hinder its
full potential.
our aim is to uncover their root causes. Some of the key challenges in NLP
include the inherent ambiguity and contextual nature of natural language,
the limited availability of high-quality labeled data for training models, the
necessity for common sense reasoning abilities, ethical concerns related to
bias in language processing, and the growing demand for explain ability
and interpretability in NLP models. Addressing these challenges is crucial
in order to achieve accurate understanding and generation of human
language
4. II. Literature Survey
This influential paper introduces BERT (Bidirectional Encoder
Representations from Transformers), a powerful pre-training technique that
significantly advances language understanding tasks. BERT demonstrates
remarkable performance on a wide range of NLP benchmarks, addressing
challenges related to context modeling and language understanding [1].
The Transformer model introduced in this paper revolutionized NLP by utilizing
self-attention mechanisms. This approach improves the modeling of dependencies
between words, leading to significant advancements in machine translation and
other NLP tasks. The Transformer architecture addresses challenges related to long-
range dependencies and facilitates parallelization during training [2].

6. IV.Performance Comparison
BERT: Pre-training of Deep Bidirectional Transformers for Language
Understanding: BERT achieves high accuracy on various NLP
tasks, including question answering, sentiment analysis, and named entity
recognition. It outperforms previous models by effectively capturing
contextual information using transformer-based pre-training. However,
BERT's time complexity is linear with respect to the input length, which
can limit its scalability for longer sequences.
The GLUE score to 80.5 (7.7 point absolute improvement), MultiNLI
accuracy to 86.7% (4.6% absolute improvement), SQuAD v1.1 question
answering Test F1 to 93.2 (1.5 point absolute improvement) and SQuAD
v2.0 Test F1 to 83.1 (5.1 point absolute improvement)
15. V.Conclusion
The advancements in natural language processing have brought
significant improvements in various NLP tasks. Methods such as
BERT, Transformer, and GPT-3 have demonstrated remarkable
performance, addressing challenges related to language understanding
and context modeling. Techniques like ELMo, Word2Vec, XLNet,
ALBERT, and T5 have also contributed to enhancing specific aspects of
NLP. But still the NLP applications facing semantic ambiguity, co-
referential resolution, and contextual ambiguity, Irony and Sarcasm,
Figurative Language.
There are several avenues for future enhancement of the existing
techniques for improving accuracy and time complexity.
Efficient models: Develop more efficient models that can handle longer
sequences without compromising accuracy, reducing the time
complexity of NLP approaches.
Multimodal approaches: Incorporate multimodal information, such as
images and videos, into NLP models to enable a deeper understanding
of language in context-rich environments.
