3. The million dollar questions are:
How do we engage the adult online learner?
How do we assure they are getting a quality
education and they remain engaged in the
learning process?
Why are failure rates so high in this fast
growing and seemingly convenient way to
learn?
4. Staying in Touch
It truly is about relationships in the world of
education, not simply about meeting objectives and
giving out passing grades. Many students and
instructors have great ability to spit out information
that has been fed to them. Our challenge is to
approach the information and the students in such a
way that they are engaged and have ownership in
their learning.
5. Opportunities for ownership
Survey Monkey Example from www.surveymonkey.com
Remind 101 example utilizing www.Remind101.com
Remind 101 is a text messaging service that keeps your cell
phone and students’ cell phone numbers private, and they
are able to register for your course and receive text
messages with important announcements and due dates
that you generate. The students love the service and it has
helped some students stay on track with their
assignments.

7. Online Lecture Sessions
Blackboard Collaborate Session Example
I am hopeful you enjoy the presentation I put
together showing my You Tube Video on a Blackboard
Collaborate Session that I captured to give you an
idea of one of the ways in which I strive to engage
students in my courses. I am hopeful to continue to
be able to make students comfortable enough to use
their microphones and web cams during the sessions.
8. Quote for the Day
"The worst feedback is indifference.
We armor ourselves against the cutting remark, the
attack, the person who just doesn't like our stuff.
But all of this is the feedback we get when we touch a
nerve and are doing work that matters enough to care
about.
No, the worst sort of feedback is no feedback at all. That
means we've created nothing but banality.”
