This document discusses using peer collaboration to meet the diverse needs of all students. It recommends including a variety of sensory and physical activities in the learning environment to help regulate behavior and encourage motor skill development, learning, thinking and social skills. The purpose is to involve students in group activities that keep them moving for an extended period of time to build cardiovascular endurance, spatial sense, and understanding through the use of movement. The peer coach's role is to help create different and interesting activity stations and ensure students have fun while getting creative ways to move.

4. Philosophy
• Research shows that sensory activities help
regulate students with disabilities behavior.
• Children benefit by being exposed to a variety of
activities that require the utilization of an array
of physical, social and cognitive skills.
• Activities to encourage the child’s use of a
variety of motor skills, learning opportunities,
that occur which encourages thinking and/or
social skills are not ignored.
• Children need to feel liked, to be challenged to
their sense & pride in their accomplishment

• Include gross motor –balance beams, tunnel,
mats
• Calm zone- bean bag chairs, tent
• Select the equipment
• Provide a variety of physical activities
• Create 4 obstacles for students to enjoy!
• Have fun setting it up.

• To utilize a research that can be used for all
students, special ed, at-risk and general ed.
To involve students in a group activity which
keeps them moving from an extended length
of time, thus working on cardiovascular
endurance. Which builds an increase in
understanding of spatial sense through the
use of movement.

• They go through stations together offering
tips, helps and suggestions when needed.
