Pgd Vs Genetic Testing
Opposition, who would be job holders in the science and medical world, would argue that most if
not all science experiments at their starting point have unknown implications and low success rates.
They would argue the possibility of disease extinction and a promising future for those with severe
disabilities, as well as the possibility of guaranteeing your child's health outweigh any risks that are
possible with all experimentation. While it may be true that science experiments at their starting
point have low success rates, these experiments do not typically involve devastating implications to
the entire human race. From the reversal of natural selection to the revival of eugenics the
implications are possible and significant. It may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Genetic Engineering: James Cameron And Nancy Farmer
Essay As the world is becoming more and more populated we have to think of new ways to sustain
life by possibly using cloning and genetic engineering. This text is going to examine how James
Cameron and Nancy Farmer portray Cloning, Genetic Engineering and how sustainability is
evident. Cloning and genetic engineering can both be used to sustain life on our planet but whether
we can put behind us the ethical concerns relating to them in order to sustain life is another story.
All three of these evident themes have a very similar underlying message in both of these examples.
Genetic engineering means the modification of of an organism by manipulating its genetic material.
Both James Cameron and Nancy Farmer use some form of genetic engineering ... Show more

Social sustainability is shown through Matt being a clone and not being treated as a human being
because of the excessive attention he gets from El patron and when the priest raged at him for being
in the church and kicking him out. "This unbaptised limb of Satan has no right to make a mockery
of this rite! Would you bring a dog to church". Another fact supporting social sustainability is that
Matt is not being treated properly by people he lives with. When matt cut his foot on glass and was
taken into the Elpatron estate and got medical attention but when they looked at his foot they
noticed it said "Property Of The Alaclran Estate" which made people treat him differently because
they now know he was a clone. The reason these are forms of social sustainability is because they
show that matt is not being treated with basic human rights and not being accepted by the
community. Environmental sustainability is shown through the futuristic city of Opium that House
of Scorpion is set in, the city is described with majorly polluted factories. Another fact is that the
eejits live in slums that are over populated and polluted with radioactive material through this you
can see how they have not created a sustainable environment for the future there fore leading to the
creation of cloning and genetically modified objects in the

The Transformation of Jack in William Golding's Lord of...
The Transformation of Jack in William Golding's Lord of the Flies In the novel, Lord of the Flies,
Jack is the character that experiences the most change. Jack begins the novel as a somewhat
arrogant choirboy, who cries when he is not elected leader of the island. Jack is gradually
transformed into a vicious killer who has no respect for human life. Through a series of stages, such
as leading the choir, leading the hunting tribe, wearing the mask, killing Simon, separating from the
group and intentionally killing Piggy, Jack degenerates from a normal, arrogant school boy into a
savage beast. At the beginning of the novel, Golding describes Jack's physical appearance as "inside
the floating cloak he was tall, thin and bony; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a few tries, Jack and the hunters finally catch a pig. The boys and Jack brutally attack it and
kill it. This is the first step of Jack's decent to primitive savagery. We see the loss of innocence
because Jack has killed his first living creature, and also had a loss of innocence sexually. Now we
see Jack become very confident in his hunting ability and we start to see him act more like a hunter.
He now wears a mask over his face and always wants to hunt. The author has this to say about Jack
and his mask, "the mask was a thing on its own, behind which Jack hid, liberated from shame and
self–consciousness" (62). With the aid of the mask, Jack is now transforming into a different person.
He seems to be happier as a hunter. The author also lets us into Jack's mind, for his thoughts on his
first kill, "His mind was crowded with memories; memories of the knowledge that had come to
them when they closed in on the struggling pig, knowledge that they had outwitted a living thing,
imposed their will upon it, taken away its life like a long satisfying drink" (70). Jack's next step into
savagery is when they are all dancing around the fire in celebration. Simon is coming to tell the
boys about his vision of the beast, when Jack and his tribe mistake Simon for the beast and attack
and kill him. He has now killed his first human being – although it seemed not to be completely
intentional. Jack

Hall Of The Bulls Essay
When trying to create the exhibit of "Rulers and Subjects throughout the Ages," I figured my
objective of promoting the role is to create the exhibit as interactive as possible. The following
paper focuses on the five statues or paintings that I thought were going to best explain five different
time periods and their importance to human kind.
During the first time period of Prehistoric Art, I decided to choose a recreation of the Hall of the
Bulls located in the Lascaux Cave. The Hall of the Bulls best represents the type of artistry that
humans created in 13,000 BCE. This image is important because it gives present people an idea of
how our past selves functioned. Within 13,000 BCE, we understood the concept of religious beliefs
such as shamanism, which is when our people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time period, hieratic scale was first being employed regularly. Therefore, I would like
optical illusions to be placed in this exhibit when focusing on Royal Standard or Ur. There will be a
small opening to the room that has the artifact so that when an individual looks into the room from
the opening, the painting will appear small, when looked at from a faraway distance. When the
individual enters the room, the panting will look larger than it once did. This will allow individuals
to develop and understand the concept of the hierarchy of scale and allow a strong visual
representation.
The Egyptian period is well known within the 21st century as a cultural phenomenon and represents
the idea of mortality and human connections with the spirit world. The work that best demonstrates
both mortality and spirt is the statue of Khafra. The reason for this piece of art is because the way
humans demonstrated their belief in gods was through spiritual means. Since the introduction of
Kha statues being created, it brought the idea of humans being able to have the same power and
divinity as spiritual gods

1. Which of the images demonstrates an interpersonal communication exchange? How can you tell?
Picture number three demonstrates an interpersonal communication exchange because interpersonal
communication is face–to–face communication with a person.
2. What types of interpersonal communication are being displayed in the images? Why?
Textual communication also plays a role in communication with others. It is important to recognize
that textual information may gain deeper meaning when the text is spoken or viewed in a specific
context versus when it is read.
Read the following quotes and interpret what you think is being expressed. Write 50 to100 words

Religion In Plato's The Allegory Of The Cave
Since ever, we have tried to acknowledge our own existence, but we have not always relied on
science. Religion has shaped societies, evolving through the sun god Aton–Rato to Jesus Christ, and
in each step, it has left us different perceptions of our world. Consequently, religion is a
phenomenon that explained by itself the evolution of human understanding. Thus, in order to
understand our past, we must know how religion explains the world, rules societies and fulfills
human uncertainties. The complexity of our cognitive and abstract ability to explain the world has
been a controversial matter that divides us among agnostics, gnostics, and atheists. However, The
Allegory of the Cave, presented by Plato addresses this matter. In Plato's Cave, some prisoners have
lived chained all their lives. Facing a wall and knowing nothing more than shadows cast by the fire
of a torch, the prisoners will acquire the shadows as their reality. Nevertheless, one day the prisoners
manage to break out and discover that their reality was misrepresented. The prisoners find out a
world that they could not understand because the sun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The history of the Hebrew people is long and complex, but the stages of their growth can be read
from the Bible. The Bible has many rules for worship and ritual, but its fundamental ethical
worldview lies in the idea that humans are created in the image and likeness of God. The more
detailed formulation of that link between God and individual and social relationships is contained in
the Ten Commandments, which the Bible depicts as being given by God to Moses after the latter
brings the people out of the bondage of Egypt and before they reach the Promised Land. These
commandments, consisting of both prohibitions and positive commands, are part of the larger

Peter Parker Influence On Identity
Furthermore, Peter Parker's character struggles as Spider–Man is also good to note in term of
identity as it differs from the Fantastic Four and their personal identities. The superhero identity is
one that is shaped and reshaped through many narratives as it can be a title or persona that is carried
throughout the course of the series. To be a superhero is to be more than a normal human as this
distinction is what makes the genre so compelling for most readers who understand what actual
power does in society. For the norm, it is a force to be feared and aspired to have; for superheroes in
comics, it is the separation between hero and personal responsibility as this adds to the superhero
mantle (White 47–48). Likewise to the influence of childhood development, there is often time a
need to reshape one's own identity to meet the demands of similarly shifting and transforming
cultures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of George Patton's Speech
The fear of killing and being killed in battle is no easy thing to contemplate or to inspire. Inspiring
soldiers to participate earnestly in battle is crucial to winning wars. Approaches to accomplish this
have been studied and tried by military leaders for millennia. George S. Patton attempted this very
thing in his speech to the Third Army. Patton delivered a profane and vulgar speech to untried
soldiers who have yet to see combat. Patton is able to inspire his soldiers by using his reputation
while dismantling his authority, using obscene humor, and appealing to their sense of honor and
courage. George Patton was a senior officer and commander of the U.S. Seventh Army during
World War II. One of the pioneers in tank warfare, Patton became best known as the most effective
general of World War II. Patton led American forces to significant victories on the fronts of North
Africa, Sicily, and Europe. Before the European invasion, Patton, along with a major build–up of
Allied forces was covertly preparing for the first assaults on German occupied Normandy, France.
General Patton's speech to the Third Army was given on June 5, 1944, in the United Kingdom on
the eve of the Allied invasion of Europe (National Endowment for the Humanities, n.a.). This
famous speech was given to the soldiers under his command. The speech was delivered as a
motivational device by Patton in order to inspire and solidify his men for upcoming challenges.
Throughout Patton's speech, harsh and foul language is used abundantly. The speech begins with
Patton identifying the American public opinion of not wanting to enter the war. Patton refuses this
and establishes Americans as wanting to fight, and instilling American pride into his audience.
Patton then addresses the men's fears of dying and killing but shadows it with their duty to country,
and honor to their manhood. The speech then moves to the importance of being a team and how
every man has a crucial part to play, whether it be a truck driver or infantryman. Patton then feels
the need to quickly remind everyone that his presence in England is to remain a secret. After this, he
reinstates the mission and why they are here. They are here to defeat the Germans in Europe, then

Statues and Sculpture: An Art Form that Depicts Human History
Art Stands Tall for Human Values In 2008 a group of archaeologist unearthed what could now be
the world's oldest statue. This larger than life statuette stands at whopping 2 ½ inches tall with an
estimated carving date from 35,000 to 40,000 years ago from a mammoth tusk. The form of the
statuette is that of female figure missing her head and feet with a primary focus on reproductive
organs. Due to the pornographic nature of the statue archaeologist believe that the statue's purpose
and function is to represent longevity and fertility. No matter if you believe man crawled from
primordial ooze or if a being of higher authority created man, humans have continued to express
emotion, experiences and values through the artistic expression ... Show more content on

Starting in 1870, artist August Bartholdi made a trip to the United States to search out a place to
erect the statue and begin the initial design. The form of the statue is actually created from two
separate forms. The first form used to create the statue is that of a neoclassical sculpture of the
Roman goddess Libertas who represented freedom and democracy. The second form used in the
statue is that of the fictional female character, Columbia who many at the time believe carried the
embodiment of America. The main function of the statue is to represent individual liberty and
freedom from slavery. Liberty has always been a highly held value in the United States so it would
be important that the function of this statue represented that value. The statue's function of freedom
and liberty is carried throughout the sculpture. You will find the date of the independence placed
upon the tablet she carries. At her feet lay broken shackles from slavery. Upon her crown are seven
rays that represent freedom to all the seven continent's citizens who come to this country seeking
freedom. Her right arm is raised in the air above her head carrying a torch that light's the way to that
freedom. Her outer skin is covered in thin copper sheets that over time patina giving the statue her
green hue. Some may not know as well that the statue's internal structure is just as famous as her
outer appearance. The

Religion In Lord Of The Flies
The tendency to do evil is something everyone is prone too. Not that one would tend to want to do
harm, it's just the outcome that's produced when having doubt. We sometimes take actions to try and
prove our peers wrong; we sometimes choose the easier way out by giving up. Someone perhaps
may have fear and little faith in what someone has said or may say causing them to have doubt and
causing them to commit errors along their search for answers. These errors could cause them to
obtain an image they wouldn't want to pertain to. No one intends to relate with someone who
regularly is doubting their credibility. They wouldn't realize and accept these errors until these errors
have taken over whom they've become essentially being provoked by Satan. ... Show more content

The religious allegory Ralph illustrates would be much what Judas Iscariot depicts in a religious
context. Judas was taunted with every intention to have a life full of remorse when given the
temptation of betraying Christ for 30 pieces of silver offered by chief priests. Judas, not having
complete faith in Christ, calls him "Rabbi" while every other disciple called him "Lord." This
suggests that Judas never really thought Christ was God but more of a teacher. Ralph, in the same
way, is given a choice; he is elected chief and can choose to either give up on his group and let
chaos arise or opt to try and preserve order. Although he attempts and keeps hope like Judas, the

How Has Religion Changed Art?

Senior Workshop
Part 3 Paper: How has Religion Changed art?
What is art? It can be explained as a diverse building up of mortal activities. Art is the single thing
that can change people by the thousands, millions, and billions. If we were to use words to describe
exactly what art is we can say that it is: expression, beauty, different, love, technical, abstract,
creativity, always changing, convincing, emotion, free, diverse, innovative and inspiring.
Art has changed many people and gave humans what they need to morph into what they are now.
Most of us don't think of art as much, Most of us thinks that art has nothing to do with the world of
today. If we look at the most basic of things we can see how ... Show more content on

The earliest recorded of art was around 25000 BCE and before this time. This art included pieces
like the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf is a figurine that was found in Austria
featuring a female carved from limestone. This is not the only Venus figurine found, others were
made with bone, ivory and clay. Also all of the Venus figurines have a diamond shaped. Many
prehistoric art involved sculptures. A lot of Neolithic as said before cannot be proven as religious
but this is starting off art we have today which we need to review over. Some prehistoric artwork
includes the Jiahu Carvings, the Jiahu carvings were dated back to 7000 BCE and are made out of
red crown crane bone. they are flutes with 5 to 8 holes these were supposedly used for rituals.
Another piece of artwork can be known as the Niola Doa. The Niola Doa was found in Africa and is
dated back to 3000 BCE.
Let's fast forward a couple thousand years, before the 1400s in the Middle Ages (also known as
medieval times) we observe the concept of religious art. Back then the art had very unrealistic looks
looking at the style of the art. This is when religious art really thrived. In medieval times the art
style was gothic and much of the gothic style was influenced in the cathedrals in Europe today. As
we see main focuses were on the church and there was nothing else. In This art, you can tell the
major differences from the renaissance and the

Life Without Hope Analysis
Life without hope is a journey without a compass. In The Road by Cormac McCarthy there are
numerous instances that occur in which all seems lost, but in those moments hope carries through
and thrives. The dystopian novel narrates the tale of a man and a boy who are trying to survive in a
world where moral and order have disappeared, driving humans to commit acts of cannibalism and
murder. It also shows the strong bond between an unnamed father and his son. The man's son and
the appearance of colour is the light at the end of the tunnel that allows the man to continue moving
and to hope for a better future. McCarthy utilizes the boy and colour to instill moments of hope in

With the man, he comes to a land with a brook full of fish swimming in "the amber current" (286).
When the boy thought all had been lost, he discovers these species that miraculously endured the
terrors. The survival of these fish exists a symbol of hope and survival for the boy. The man and the
boy rely on each other for more than just survival; the father's sole motivation to continue living is
his son. He cannot leave his son to die in the world, and he cannot take his son's life along with his
own. The boy acts as a beacon of hope for the man. Given the horrific conditions, the boy remains
morally right, and that inspires the father to continue to fight for both of their lives. The idea that the
man and his son are "carrying the fire" is recurrent throughout the novel (83). This fire represents
the hope that they hold which allows them to continue on their journey. The nights that they must
sleep without a fire are marked by gloom, and whenever a fire is present the reader experiences a
more sanguine mood. Often in the novel, the boy's physical wellness is compared to a flame. In one
of the scenes, the man is worrying about the weakness of his son. "He didn't think the boy could
travel much more... the stillness and the sparks rose and dimmed and died in the eternal blackness"
(96). The fire dying down into "eternal blackness" is referring to the boy in danger of dying of
exhaustion.

How Is George Patton Successful
General George Smith Patton {Good} Old Blood and Guts
The great General George Smith Patton said that "A good solution applied with vigor now is better
than a perfect solution applied ten minutes later." Patton was a great leader and an even better
strategist; although, he was a ruthless man who had a love for war and death. While General George
Patton's childhood developed his strategic thinking and cunning leadership, his narcissistic self–
promotion led us to victory in World War II.
George Smith Patton always had a lifelong interest in the military and war. Patton was born on the

The Goals Of Making Life Worth Living
In the society, there are some laurel people, there are some people having lifetime of hardships, but
did not get anything substantial. There are also people living without wondering about the purpose
of life, like the ship into the sea does not determine what direction it goes. Then there are people
intent with very great thoughts but end up with very small business. Success or failure depends on
so many reasons, which mainly features is "purpose". Therefore Socrates has stated: "the
unexamined life is not worth living". In order to make one's life worth living, this statement strongly
addresses the idea that one must set up his goal to find the meaning and purpose of life.

There are "purpose", people have the motivation to work, have fun and confidence in their work.
However, if life has no purpose, people will become passive, weakness and useless, life lost all its
meaning.
What is "trivial purpose"? One who only thinks of personal interests, does well just to achieve
results for individual identity, for their families without regard to the rights of those around the
"purpose" was "purported" trivial, selfish. That way of life is not useful to the community. Besides,
many people living with nice noble purpose. They are people who are useful to society, family and
lifelong dedication to the people, for the country, ignoring yourself. They are willing to sacrifice all

Boosting their incentive to work selflessly if not "aim" beautiful and sublime? Thus, the "purpose"

Heroes: Fantastic Four And The Civil Rights Movement

Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four were 4 times the action, 4 times the adventure,4 times the fantastic! They were
created during the 1960s whereas the civil rights movement demonstrated equal rights for everyone.
This heroic group came together despite their differences in order to make the world a better place.
Fantastic Four represents the rapid changes in the world such as cultural and scientific.
The main artist responsible for the creation of Fantastic Four is Stan Lee. In Publishers Weekly
article it states, "Fantastic Four was co–created by Stan Lee" (Kidcast, Publishers Weekly).

It was a time where people were marginalized due to their race and skin color. Martin Luther King
Jr. played a major role in the civil rights movement seeking justice and equality for African
Americans. He was a very ambitious and a determined man who stood firm and fought for what he
believed in. As a result, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was issued causing and an end to segregation
and prohibiting racial discrimination. The economy during the 1960s was a time of prosperity with
low unemployment rates, and an increase in technological advances.
The social issue Fantastic Four represents is a group of people coming together to accomplish a

Jfk Inaugural Address Rhetorical Analysis
On a cold January afternoon in 1961 John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivered one of the shortest but most
empowering inaugural addresses. Kennedy won by the smallest margin ever and to this day was the
youngest and the only Roman Catholic ever elected U.S. president. With the victory of World War II
behind the US and the fear of nuclear warfare with the Soviet Union looming Kennedy faced a
difficult task. Kennedy was faced with the task of convincing the American people that he was fit to
be leader. John F. Kennedy's use of rhetoric devices and persuasive appeals made in his Inaugural
Address convince the citizens of his ability to be chief executive. One of the rhetoric devices used
often in Kennedy's speech was the use of parallel structures. A parallel structure also called
parallelism is defined as the repetition of a chosen grammatical form within a sentence. An example
of a parallel structure would be "To show kindness is praiseworthy; to show hatred is evil". Some
examples of parallel structures in Kennedy's inaugural address speech are: "For man holds in his
mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.", "If a
free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." and "Let us
never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate". Kennedy used parallel structures to
align related ideas and to make it more understandable for both readers and listeners. By using a

Johnny. While they are there, they both get attacked by a another man at the graveyard. But it wasn't
a usual person, he seemed almost like he was already dead. The man killed Johnny, and then
continued to attack and follow Barbara to her car and then to a runned down house. When she got
there the dead man stayed outside. Later on in the film, a man, Ben, came to get some gas for a
truck he found. Ben ran into the house to see if there is a key to unlock the gas pump. He then met
Barbara and helped her defend herself from the dead people. When he realized that Barbara wasn't
the owner of the house, Ben stayed and boarded up the house to keep them safe. From there Ben,
went through the entire house trying to find things to help protect them and keep them alive. He was
able to find food, a gun and bullets. When Ben was upstairs, keeping an eye out on the house,
Barbara was downstairs and heard a noise from behind a door in the house. When the door opened,

He was an Olympian, a war hero and a true man. The main character, Louis Zamperini, started
drinking and smoking at the age of 5. Shortly after that he also started stealing. When he was in high
school his brother, principal and the local sheriff sat down and had a meeting about how they could
help him turn his life around and they convinced him to start track. Louis found a love for track. It
was a way to challenge himself and keep him off the streets. His passion for the sport helped him
get sober, and quit smoking, and he went on to set a world record for the fastest lap ever in the
Olympics. After the Olympics Louis joined the war as airman. During the war, Louis' airplane had
both of the engines fail and he was stranded on a raft for a month and a half surviving on fish and
sharks. After those months he was rescued and then captured by the Japanese who took him to a war
camp. Louis lived in the war camp for several years and was finally freed after the war ended. Louis
never lost hope, though during his time as a prisoner of war. He fought for his life and served his
country and did what he loved. In 1988 Louis returned to Japan to carry the torch in the Olimpics.

Analysis Of The Metamorphoses Of Ovid
Within the fourth book of The Metamorphoses of Ovid, the story of Athamas and Ino presents a
wary warning about the wrath of the gods through a tale of madness. Juno, angered by the joy and
prosperity of Ino and her husband Athamas, along with the prospect of being "denied the force to
right a wrong", uses the assistance of the Furies in the "wasteland" of Hell to drive the two prideful
beings to the brink of insanity and cause them to kill Ino herself and their two sons, Learchus and
Melicerta (126). Besides the main plot, it is through the smaller and nuanced details of the story that
readers gain more insight regarding the interesting disposition between the netherworlds, Earth, and
heaven, and the different transformations presented when venturing from one world to another.
While there are numerous occurrences of various fundamental physical and mental changes within
the narrative poem, the transformation between life and death is the most ambiguous yet frequently
repeated one. Therefore, the keyword of "blood" plays a very important role in introducing an added
sense of physicality and concrete evidence of such a transformation, thus reinforcing the various
tiers, specifically that of humans, within the ancient Greek hierarchy of all mortal, otherworldly, and
godly beings.
Prior to Athamas & Ino's tale, the introduction of the Iron Ages and the specific story of "The Giant"
in Book I sheds light upon the prevalence of blood and its close correlation with human beings in

George S Patton And Odysseus From The Odyssey
The sun is just setting over the men of the Third Army. They are overtaking one of the most prized
Nazi strongholds, Metz. These men who will wage war within the hour are heroes in their own right
but the hero they all look up to is their general, George S. Patton. He truly is the hero of this theatre
of war. These, and all heroes, look at danger as little more than an obstacle to overpass. General
George S Patton and Odysseus from The Odyssey, by Homer, are both heroes. They reached fame at
very different times but they both exhibited the same qualities and abilities that allowed them to
overcome any and every challenge thrown at them. Patton fought Nazis in North Africa and Western
Europe, Odysseus battled Cyclops and other beasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would not have been called a coward if he walked away from those odds. He didnt walk away.
He stood and fought with his son and they prevailed. He decided that his home and his family were
worth the risk. Patton, as a general in WWII, knew that each man under his control was worth it. He
told them that," Each man has a purpose in my army and each man before me will be expected to
fulfill that duty"(O'Reilly.14). Patton did more than just inspire his men from a concealed hideout,
far from the danger of the front lines, he also journeyed in his Willy Jeep to the front lines to guide
the assault. He was a high value target and escaped death on numerous occasions but he maintained
his composure on these ever increasing excursions. When leaving the front lines he would find
soldiers and make a point of, "placing his hand on their shoulder, looking them in the eyes and
saying, 'Don't disappoint me soldier." (O'Reilly.15). He expected a lot of his men just as Odysseus
did as evidenced by his disappointment when members of his crew became disloyal and even acted
as cowards when faced with challenges.. Odysseus himself did great things but he expected to be a
role model to his men as well. When in a grim situation, a hero needs to remain composed to allow
for his wisdom and strategic mindset to come through and save the day as displayed by both
Odysseus and Patton. Odysseus was trapped in a cave with a stone, that no group of men could

The Battle Of Kasserine Pass
E. STATE THE MISSION AND DESCRIBE INITIAL DISPOSTION OF FORCES
The Battle of Kasserine Pass proved to be a shock both to American military forces in the field. The
defeat of the Allied forces in the battle put doubt into the minds of many all of whom assumed the
righteous democracies of the western Allies could not be defeated in the field by the armies of
Fascism. The defeat suffered by the Allies had nothing to do with right versus wrong, but was very
much a product of a number of operational shortcomings on the part of the Allies. Poor logistics,
failures on the part of American leadership, lack of unity of effort on the part of the Allies, the lack
of combat experience, and inferior equipment all combined to contribute to the failure ... Show more

The decision to invade North Africa "reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those
of the Americans" as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as
1942. American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North
African campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted
no part of a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American troops
in North Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of Marshall and
his military advisers on this point.
b. As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied
landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti–Axis alliance. In
order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command the
invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any
resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches
and ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly
every landing point. Nonetheless, dissension among the various French factions in North Africa
limited the cohesiveness and effectiveness of the opposition. Ultimately, the magnitude and rapidity

people keep praising Kurtz (except the general manager) and this prepares Marlow for a very
impressionable first impression. Marlow keeps thinking about Kurtz as this ideal man in the dark
jungle. This of course is all shattered when Marlow meets him. Marlow, having hoped to meet
someone who would not have been corrupted by the exposure of the jungle, meets Kurtz near death.
This is moment of meeting is crucial for Marlow because it is turning point for his ideals. They meet
the harsh truth that even the most idealistic, charismatic ones can be corrupted. Marlow loses his
faith in his home and everything they represent because when he goes back, Marlow refuses to
speak with people. He walks around disenchanted by the propaganda that Europe spews about
Africa; and he is embittered that the people back home can not see through it. This shows how
experiences shape who you become and how you identify in the world because that is the difference

Summary: The Black Hole Conspiracy
You know the deal: you must suspend disbelief when it comes to watching films. Movie science
fiction takes this to a new level. People can quite easily accept that the Hulk's increased mass
compared to Bruce Banner's can appear out of nowhere, or that the Human Torch can burst into
flames without consuming any fuel. These are two of Marvel's original problems, and as such, you
cannot blame them on the films.
However, the science that is not part of the fiction must be normal because the film–going public
needs a break. Of course, the millions spent on sci–fi flicks would preclude any scientific errors
such as, for example, the film making no sense. In addition, the outcomes of all the scenes in such
films would be scientifically accurate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heart Of Darkness Rhetorical Analysis
Passage A's commencement with the conjunction 'and' makes readers aware of the eternal presence
of the Thames River that transcends even the limits of time, claiming men as inescapable victim,
thus exposing the pettiness of men amid the overpowering presence of nature. The anonymous
narrator alludes to famous explorers, some "whom the nation is proud" of, some akin to "Sir John
Franklin", who instilled fear on the ocean, yet the repetition of the preposition "from" before the
different origins, undermines the distinction between those who are deemed of noble cause, and
those deemed as corrupt, and denouncing these labels as man–made constructs that nature looks
upon indifferently, while giving prominence to the places themselves. This belittling ... Show more

Throughout the novel, Kurtz's voice has been the sole manifestation of project, however, the
sentence "a cry that was no more than a breath" signals the crumbling of this ideology, whereby
what was once a loud and prominent voice is merely a whimpering inaudible voice that has no life
to it. Marlow's awkward incomplete sentence "Mistah–Kurtz–he dead", in itself is analogous with
the character of Kurtz, one that is also devoid of any action or doing, but a being that finds
expression solely in the form of a voice that is implanted in people's minds. After Kurtz has died,
Marlow refers to him only ambiguously with the objectified pronoun "something" that is being
buried in a muddy hole", thus lacking any indication of having ever been acquainted with Kurtz as a
human, and rendering him a lifeless vessel that without a voice serves no ulterior purpose. Kurtz
disturbing cry "The horror! The horror!" is a moment of supreme enlightenment, having come to
understand the nature of the deeds he has committed in true perspective, with "horror" directly
referencing the to the blind ideology, this noble idea that has misguided them to evil and darkness
with the empty promise of good intent. This moment denotes the complete knowledge that has
overcome Kurtz and enabled him to realise that the colonial project was really in fact a project of

A Comparison Of Saving Private Ryan And Patton
The movies Saving Private Ryan and Patton both tell the stories of heroes during World War II, but
in very different ways. Saving Private Ryan focuses on Capitan John H. Miller, a fictional soldier
who is given the task of bringing a Private Ryan home since his three brothers had died. He and
most of his men end up dying in the search to find Ryan and then in defense of a critical bridge
Ryan refuses to leave. Patton is the true story of General Patton, a brilliant strategist who, while he
often disrespected his men, was able to use them to accomplish incredible feats of war. Patton was
very self–focused and enjoyed war and the glory brought along with it. The first movie is focused
on the struggles and heroics of the common soldier while the second follows the leaders who won
the war. John Miller and George Patton can both be considered heroes, but which can be considered
the greater man?
Saving Private Ryan, while mostly fictional and only loosely based on the story of the Niland
Brothers ("The Nihland Boys"), it tells a story of a few heroic soldiers who go into save one man.
Risking the lives of 8 men to save one seems counter–intuitive, but Capitan Miller was dedicated to
following orders. The movie shows how Miller does not think Private Ryan is worth risking the
lives of his men, yet he presses on through many challenges. When he finally finds Ryan, the Private
refuses to leave his post because he has a duty to serve with the men he considers "the only brothers

Gisaro Ceremony Among Kaluli Society
Dressed as birds, the young men arrive at the longhouse of a neighboring clan for a highly
anticipated event, the Gisaro ceremony. They perform elaborate dances and sing at length in the
clan's territory about dead members of their host's community and days gone by. This can go on for
hours, with the purpose of eliciting an intense emotional response of nostalgia, upset, loneliness, and
sorrow from their hosts. Once this has been achieved, their hosts attack them with lighted torches,
burning their shoulder in anger and sorrow. The dancers are not allowed to show any emotional
reaction, but they continue to dance until the hosts are done attacking the dancers. When the
ceremony draws to a close, the dancers retreat back to their hut for the night and bring their hosts
food in the morning. While this elaborate and violent ceremony may seem bizarre to the outside
world, it is extremely important and valuable in the context of Kaluli society. Far from being a rare
or inexplicable incident, the Gisaro ceremony is a highly anticipated and appreciated ritual for the
Kaluli people that can only be understood in the context of their beliefs about reciprocity, food, and
the afterlife. The Gisaro ceremony is a prime example of the value of reciprocity to the Kaluli
people. Reciprocity defines and shapes of all Kaluli social interactions, particularly the highly
formalized ones in the Gisaro ceremony. In this ceremony, the Kaluli people view the reaction of the

Analysis Of George S. Patton
George S. Patton was a U.S. Army General, who was know for his grit and toughness. The kind of
guy who was known for pouring his heart and soul into everything he did. He was a man of many–
even self–contradictory–ways: He was a noted horseman and polo player, a well–known champion
swordsman, and a competent sailor and sportsman ... an amateur poet... a rough and tough soldier...
a thoughtful and sentimental man. Unpredictable in his actions, yet always dependable... outgoing,
yet introverted." (Charles M. Province)
He was also well known for his controversy and ability to rally the troops. His speech to the third
army was given June 5th, 1944 which was the eve of the allied invasion of Europe. It was a chance
for Patton to shine as a general. He knew he would have to construct a speech for which listeners and
future readers would be struck by his harsh style, while incorporating his unstinting dependence of
profanity. But we must not be led to believe that Patton had not carefully rehearsed every word,
chosen precisely for its desired persuasive effect. Patton 's address to the Third Army repays
attentive examination, and, when the problems it is designed to address are identified, its brilliance
and influence will become apparent. Yet, raising soldier's moral raises a challenge: should a speech
be a formal, incorporating articulate words and sentence structure, or should it be vulgar and rife
with profanities? Patton begins the speech by mentioning how much Americans

Blueberry Pancakes Alternate Ending
Mio watched the shape in the corner, from the corner of his eye. It writhed, a mass of navy sludge,

blueberry pancakes. He hated all foods that combined blueberries and pastries; they ruined both the
delicately tart sweetness of the fruit and the fluffy decadence of baked goods. The berries always

George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis
General George S Patton, also known as 'Old Blood and Guts,' was by far one of the greatest and
most controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his leadership
of the Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for war against
the Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Patton painted himself as an
agitator, which is an individual who "speaks of the violation or misappropriation of the present form
of society, but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills" (Lowenthal, 1948).
According to the Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits this
description quite well, in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in today's
terms as "political correctness." Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak out
against public opinion are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within
Blumenson's book, The Patton Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the
Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice:
The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to get
revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It's a choice between them
and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. So do our cousins... (p. 744).
Inarguably, these words written by Patton were possibly some of the most dangerous statements he

Advancements During The 18th Century
DBQ Essay During the 18th century, advancements to European thought commenced being wide
spread throughout the continent. These advancements, known as the Enlightenment, urged
Europeans to look beyond what they had previously known and to expand their knowledge, in order
to reform their societies in political and economic matters. Enlightenment thinkers believed in
human ability to understand the world in which they lived and to conform it to their needs. They
advocated many methods of economic reform including the application of ingenious rational
methods to preexisting social and economic practices. Due to advancements in thought throughout
Europe the enlightenment was prepared to challenge preconceived intellectual and theological
principles. As a result of the aforementioned desire of expansion of knowledge and the challenges
this expansion brought forth, the 18th century encountered various views of religion that emerged in
Europe pertaining to preceding religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. However, these
views were not limited to preceding religions, as a new religion known as Deism originated from
the conclusions and discoveries of philosophes.
Due to advancements in thought, new information was being discovered daily by philosophes and
enlightenment thinkers which led to an abundance of theories. Numerous significant philosophes
contended that religious institutions such as churches interfered with their pursuit of knowledge.

Ways Of Classifying Superheroes
If someone is asked which superhero they'd like to be, they might pick one in a few seconds.
Picking which superhero or even having one superpower is an important milestone in someone's
life. There are many ways to classify a superhero; what their powers are, if they wear capes or not,
pre or post comic movies, and how they became a superhero. The most important part is the
categories of superpowers. It's one of the various ways to decide which superhero to be. Classifying
superheroes by superpowers makes it easier to pick. The first type of superpower is one which
changes your appearance as a consequence. The Hulk, and the Thing, both from Marvel, are a part
of this type. They must transform into giant creatures to have their superpower. The Hulk and the
Thing both have super–strength but the Hulk has to be big and green, while the Thing is covered
with giant orange rocks. It'd be nice to have the strength but not ... Show more content on

Rogue and Cyclops, from Marvel, are stuck with powers they can't control. Rogue can absorb
powers, skills, and memories of someone by touch. She has no control over it, and is stuck without
being able to have physical contact with anyone. Cyclops is forced to wear a ruby–quartz visor over
his eyes to hold his optic–blasts in check. Another type of superpower requires one to temporarily
change appearance to use it. The Human Torch can fly, but only if he bursts into flames, and then he
can take off. The downside is that if he's using his power to fly, then everyone can easily see him.
Though the Human Torch can also ignite parts of his body, so he doesn't need to burst his whole
body into flames. The ability to shapeshift can also fit into this type. Shapeshifting isn't permanent,
the hero can change back into their original self. Mystique is able to transform into any person she
chooses, mimicking the appearance and voice of

The Human Torch: The Ultimate Superhero
Human Torch
"Flame on!" The Human Torch yells as he burst into flames and glides through the night sky as he
looks like a shooting star. But this phenomenal superhero can do much more than turning himself
into fire and fly, as he can, thermokinesis (the ability to control the temperature of any object) and
agility just to name a few. He is also known as the reckless, but lovable Johnny Storm. He has
received his superpowers from cosmic rays after crashing on a space flight along with his sister, and
two other scientists . This group all received unique powers like invisibility and strength and have
formed the crime fighting team known as the Fantastic Four. This team consistents of : The Invisible
Women (Johnny's sister), Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) and The Thing (Ben Grimm). Although he
is the youngest team member, he is by far the brightest star. The Human Torch is the ultimate
superhero because he has: a fearless personality, an amazing uniform that can withstand extreme
heat, and an magnificent fiery superpower .
Human Torch has a daring and fearless personality that makes him special in tons of ways. This
means that he is confident when he is taking down his opponents. This personality helps the Human
Torch dramatically because many people would have to be very brave when up 1000 ft up in the air
and on fire at the same time. This personality is appealing to the Human Torch because nobody is
more braver than the Human Torch. An example of this personality is

Superhero Or Supervillian Analysis
In the world today there is a great variety of morals. People act out of personal morals depending on
the amount of leeway given. In the article "Superhero or Supervillian" by Will Oremus, the author
speaks on superpowers and how they may be affecting peoples character. Throughout this essay the
reader will read a synopsis of "Superhero or Supervillian", synthesized ideas, and connections to
Christian worldview. Throughout Oremus's article a statement is made in paragraph seven stating "It
would be nice to think that morality emanates from the sheer goodness of people's souls, but
research has consistently shown that people behave far better when they think they're being
watched." Each person has their own personal virtues. What someone ... Show more content on

Pgd Vs Genetic Testing

  • 1. Pgd Vs Genetic Testing Opposition, who would be job holders in the science and medical world, would argue that most if not all science experiments at their starting point have unknown implications and low success rates. They would argue the possibility of disease extinction and a promising future for those with severe disabilities, as well as the possibility of guaranteeing your child's health outweigh any risks that are possible with all experimentation. While it may be true that science experiments at their starting point have low success rates, these experiments do not typically involve devastating implications to the entire human race. From the reversal of natural selection to the revival of eugenics the implications are possible and significant. It may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Genetic Engineering: James Cameron And Nancy Farmer Essay As the world is becoming more and more populated we have to think of new ways to sustain life by possibly using cloning and genetic engineering. This text is going to examine how James Cameron and Nancy Farmer portray Cloning, Genetic Engineering and how sustainability is evident. Cloning and genetic engineering can both be used to sustain life on our planet but whether we can put behind us the ethical concerns relating to them in order to sustain life is another story. All three of these evident themes have a very similar underlying message in both of these examples. Genetic engineering means the modification of of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. Both James Cameron and Nancy Farmer use some form of genetic engineering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social sustainability is shown through Matt being a clone and not being treated as a human being because of the excessive attention he gets from El patron and when the priest raged at him for being in the church and kicking him out. "This unbaptised limb of Satan has no right to make a mockery of this rite! Would you bring a dog to church". Another fact supporting social sustainability is that Matt is not being treated properly by people he lives with. When matt cut his foot on glass and was taken into the Elpatron estate and got medical attention but when they looked at his foot they noticed it said "Property Of The Alaclran Estate" which made people treat him differently because they now know he was a clone. The reason these are forms of social sustainability is because they show that matt is not being treated with basic human rights and not being accepted by the community. Environmental sustainability is shown through the futuristic city of Opium that House of Scorpion is set in, the city is described with majorly polluted factories. Another fact is that the eejits live in slums that are over populated and polluted with radioactive material through this you can see how they have not created a sustainable environment for the future there fore leading to the creation of cloning and genetically modified objects in the ... The Transformation of Jack in William Golding's Lord of the Flies In the novel, Lord of the Flies, Jack is the character that experiences the most change. Jack begins the novel as a somewhat arrogant choirboy, who cries when he is not elected leader of the island. Jack is gradually transformed into a vicious killer who has no respect for human life. Through a series of stages, such as leading the choir, leading the hunting tribe, wearing the mask, killing Simon, separating from the group and intentionally killing Piggy, Jack degenerates from a normal, arrogant school boy into a savage beast. At the beginning of the novel, Golding describes Jack's physical appearance as "inside the floating cloak he was tall, thin and bony; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a few tries, Jack and the hunters finally catch a pig. The boys and Jack brutally attack it and kill it. This is the first step of Jack's decent to primitive savagery. We see the loss of innocence because Jack has killed his first living creature, and also had a loss of innocence sexually. Now we see Jack become very confident in his hunting ability and we start to see him act more like a hunter. He now wears a mask over his face and always wants to hunt. The author has this to say about Jack and his mask, "the mask was a thing on its own, behind which Jack hid, liberated from shame and self–consciousness" (62). With the aid of the mask, Jack is now transforming into a different person. He seems to be happier as a hunter. The author also lets us into Jack's mind, for his thoughts on his first kill, "His mind was crowded with memories; memories of the knowledge that had come to them when they closed in on the struggling pig, knowledge that they had outwitted a living thing, imposed their will upon it, taken away its life like a long satisfying drink" (70). Jack's next step into savagery is when they are all dancing around the fire in celebration. Simon is coming to tell the boys about his vision of the beast, when Jack and his tribe mistake Simon for the beast and attack and kill him. He has now killed his first human being – although it seemed not to be completely intentional. Jack ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hall Of The Bulls Essay When trying to create the exhibit of "Rulers and Subjects throughout the Ages," I figured my objective of promoting the role is to create the exhibit as interactive as possible. The following paper focuses on the five statues or paintings that I thought were going to best explain five different time periods and their importance to human kind. During the first time period of Prehistoric Art, I decided to choose a recreation of the Hall of the Bulls located in the Lascaux Cave. The Hall of the Bulls best represents the type of artistry that humans created in 13,000 BCE. This image is important because it gives present people an idea of how our past selves functioned. When the individual enters the room, the panting will look larger than it once did. This will allow individuals to develop and understand the concept of the hierarchy of scale and allow a strong visual representation. The Egyptian period is well known within the 21st century as a cultural phenomenon and represents the idea of mortality and human connections with the spirit world. The work that best demonstrates both mortality and spirt is the statue of Khafra. The reason for this piece of art is because the way humans demonstrated their belief in gods was through spiritual means. Since the introduction of Kha statues being created, it brought the idea of humans being able to have the same power and divinity as spiritual gods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religion has shaped societies, evolving through the sun god Aton–Rato to Jesus Christ, and in each step, it has left us different perceptions of our world. Consequently, religion is a phenomenon that explained by itself the evolution of human understanding. Thus, in order to understand our past, we must know how religion explains the world, rules societies and fulfills human uncertainties. The complexity of our cognitive and abstract ability to explain the world has been a controversial matter that divides us among agnostics, gnostics, and atheists. The superhero identity is one that is shaped and reshaped through many narratives as it can be a title or persona that is carried throughout the course of the series. To be a superhero is to be more than a normal human as this distinction is what makes the genre so compelling for most readers who understand what actual power does in society. For the norm, it is a force to be feared and aspired to have; for superheroes in comics, it is the separation between hero and personal responsibility as this adds to the superhero mantle (White 47–48). • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of George Patton's Speech The fear of killing and being killed in battle is no easy thing to contemplate or to inspire. Inspiring soldiers to participate earnestly in battle is crucial to winning wars. Approaches to accomplish this have been studied and tried by military leaders for millennia. George S. Patton attempted this very thing in his speech to the Third Army. Patton delivered a profane and vulgar speech to untried soldiers who have yet to see combat. Patton is able to inspire his soldiers by using his reputation while dismantling his authority, using obscene humor, and appealing to their sense of honor and courage. George Patton was a senior officer and commander of the U.S. Seventh Army during World War II. One of the pioneers in tank warfare, Patton became best known as the most effective general of World War II. Patton led American forces to significant victories on the fronts of North Africa, Sicily, and Europe. Before the European invasion, Patton, along with a major build–up of Allied forces was covertly preparing for the first assaults on German occupied Normandy, France. General Patton's speech to the Third Army was given on June 5, 1944, in the United Kingdom on the eve of the Allied invasion of Europe (National Endowment for the Humanities, n.a.). This famous speech was given to the soldiers under his command. The speech was delivered as a motivational device by Patton in order to inspire and solidify his men for upcoming challenges. Throughout Patton's speech, harsh and foul language is used abundantly. The speech begins with Patton identifying the American public opinion of not wanting to enter the war. Patton refuses this and establishes Americans as wanting to fight, and instilling American pride into his audience. Patton then addresses the men's fears of dying and killing but shadows it with their duty to country, and honor to their manhood. The speech then moves to the importance of being a team and how every man has a crucial part to play, whether it be a truck driver or infantryman. Patton then feels the need to quickly remind everyone that his presence in England is to remain a secret. After this, he reinstates the mission and why they are here. The form of the statuette is that of female figure missing her head and feet with a primary focus on reproductive organs. Due to the pornographic nature of the statue archaeologist believe that the statue's purpose and function is to represent longevity and fertility. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting in 1870, artist August Bartholdi made a trip to the United States to search out a place to erect the statue and begin the initial design. The form of the statue is actually created from two separate forms. The first form used to create the statue is that of a neoclassical sculpture of the Roman goddess Libertas who represented freedom and democracy. The second form used in the statue is that of the fictional female character, Columbia who many at the time believe carried the embodiment of America. The main function of the statue is to represent individual liberty and freedom from slavery. Liberty has always been a highly held value in the United States so it would be important that the function of this statue represented that value. The statue's function of freedom and liberty is carried throughout the sculpture. You will find the date of the independence placed upon the tablet she carries. At her feet lay broken shackles from slavery. Upon her crown are seven rays that represent freedom to all the seven continent's citizens who come to this country seeking freedom. In The Road by Cormac McCarthy there are numerous instances that occur in which all seems lost, but in those moments hope carries through and thrives. The dystopian novel narrates the tale of a man and a boy who are trying to survive in a world where moral and order have disappeared, driving humans to commit acts of cannibalism and murder. It also shows the strong bond between an unnamed father and his son. With the man, he comes to a land with a brook full of fish swimming in "the amber current" (286). When the boy thought all had been lost, he discovers these species that miraculously endured the terrors. The survival of these fish exists a symbol of hope and survival for the boy. The man and the boy rely on each other for more than just survival; the father's sole motivation to continue living is his son. He cannot leave his son to die in the world, and he cannot take his son's life along with his own. The boy acts as a beacon of hope for the man. Given the horrific conditions, the boy remains morally right, and that inspires the father to continue to fight for both of their lives. The idea that the man and his son are "carrying the fire" is recurrent throughout the novel (83). This fire represents the hope that they hold which allows them to continue on their journey. The nights that they must sleep without a fire are marked by gloom, and whenever a fire is present the reader experiences a more sanguine mood. Often in the novel, the boy's physical wellness is compared to a flame. In one of the scenes, the man is worrying about the weakness of his son. "He didn't think the boy could travel much more... the stillness and the sparks rose and dimmed and died in the eternal blackness" (96). Kennedy won by the smallest margin ever and to this day was the youngest and the only Roman Catholic ever elected U.S. president. With the victory of World War II behind the US and the fear of nuclear warfare with the Soviet Union looming Kennedy faced a difficult task. Kennedy was faced with the task of convincing the American people that he was fit to be leader. John F. Kennedy's use of rhetoric devices and persuasive appeals made in his Inaugural Address convince the citizens of his ability to be chief executive. One of the rhetoric devices used often in Kennedy's speech was the use of parallel structures. A parallel structure also called parallelism is defined as the repetition of a chosen grammatical form within a sentence. An example of a parallel structure would be "To show kindness is praiseworthy; to show hatred is evil". Some examples of parallel structures in Kennedy's inaugural address speech are: "For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.", "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." and "Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate". Kennedy used parallel structures to align related ideas and to make it more understandable for both readers and listeners. By using a parallel ... Analysis Of The Metamorphoses Of Ovid Within the fourth book of The Metamorphoses of Ovid, the story of Athamas and Ino presents a wary warning about the wrath of the gods through a tale of madness. Juno, angered by the joy and prosperity of Ino and her husband Athamas, along with the prospect of being "denied the force to right a wrong", uses the assistance of the Furies in the "wasteland" of Hell to drive the two prideful beings to the brink of insanity and cause them to kill Ino herself and their two sons, Learchus and Melicerta (126). Besides the main plot, it is through the smaller and nuanced details of the story that readers gain more insight regarding the interesting disposition between the netherworlds, Earth, and heaven, and the different transformations presented when venturing from one world to another. While there are numerous occurrences of various fundamental physical and mental changes within the narrative poem, the transformation between life and death is the most ambiguous yet frequently repeated one. Therefore, the keyword of "blood" plays a very important role in introducing an added sense of physicality and concrete evidence of such a transformation, thus reinforcing the various tiers, specifically that of humans, within the ancient Greek hierarchy of all mortal, otherworldly, and godly beings. This can go on for hours, with the purpose of eliciting an intense emotional response of nostalgia, upset, loneliness, and sorrow from their hosts. Once this has been achieved, their hosts attack them with lighted torches, burning their shoulder in anger and sorrow. The dancers are not allowed to show any emotional reaction, but they continue to dance until the hosts are done attacking the dancers. Far from being a rare or inexplicable incident, the Gisaro ceremony is a highly anticipated and appreciated ritual for the Kaluli people that can only be understood in the context of their beliefs about reciprocity, food, and the afterlife. The Gisaro ceremony is a prime example of the value of reciprocity to the Kaluli people. Reciprocity defines and shapes of all Kaluli social interactions, particularly the highly formalized ones in the Gisaro ceremony. In this ceremony, the Kaluli people view the reaction of the hosts as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kind of guy who was known for pouring his heart and soul into everything he did. His speech to the third army was given June 5th, 1944 which was the eve of the allied invasion of Europe. It was a chance for Patton to shine as a general. He knew he would have to construct a speech for which listeners and future readers would be struck by his harsh style, while incorporating his unstinting dependence of profanity. But we must not be led to believe that Patton had not carefully rehearsed every word, chosen precisely for its desired persuasive effect. Patton 's address to the Third Army repays attentive examination, and, when the problems it is designed to address are identified, its brilliance and influence will become apparent. Yet, raising soldier's moral raises a challenge: should a speech be a formal, incorporating articulate words and sentence structure, or should it be vulgar and rife with profanities? Patton begins the speech by mentioning how much Americans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Blueberry Pancakes Alternate Ending Mio watched the shape in the corner, from the corner of his eye. It writhed, a mass of navy sludge, melting and folding upon itself like monstrous blueberry pancake batter. Mio fucking hated blueberry pancakes. He hated all foods that combined blueberries and pastries; they ruined both the delicately tart sweetness of the fruit and the fluffy decadence of baked goods. The berries always ended up mashed, and ended up making the rest of the thing soggy, but only in patches, so it was only partially ruined. And that, in a sense, was the worst kind of ruined. If something was completely and utterly destroyed, it could be tossed out without a second thought, like your ex– girlfriend's corpse after you erased any identifying factors from it and carved it up like the Thanksgiving turkey, satisfied that the police would never find her. But he didn't do that. And confectioneries with blueberries were only partially destroyed. But by being only partially fucked up, you were a) aware of how good the shit you were eating could've ... His smile faltered slightly as he thought about just how blue it was: deep, drinkable, and dark as the bottom of the well where he'd fallen down as a kid and gotten stuck for days, eyeing the sky through its reflection in the water as he pulled his knees to his chest. He'd always been scared of drowning and heights ever since then. The mass undulated. Mio shuddered as he felt a nausea rise in his lungs, that slowly swelled to encompass his entire ... • 34. George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis General George S Patton, also known as 'Old Blood and Guts,' was by far one of the greatest and most controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his leadership of the Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for war against the Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Patton painted himself as an agitator, which is an individual who "speaks of the violation or misappropriation of the present form of society, but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills" (Lowenthal, 1948). According to the Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits this description quite well, in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in today's terms as "political correctness." Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak out against public opinion are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within Blumenson's book, The Patton Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice: The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to get revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It's a choice between them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. So do our cousins... (p. 744). Inarguably, these words written by Patton were possibly some of the most dangerous statements he could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to advancements in thought throughout Europe the enlightenment was prepared to challenge preconceived intellectual and theological principles. As a result of the aforementioned desire of expansion of knowledge and the challenges this expansion brought forth, the 18th century encountered various views of religion that emerged in Europe pertaining to preceding religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. However, these views were not limited to preceding religions, as a new religion known as Deism originated from the conclusions and discoveries of philosophes. Due to advancements in thought, new information was being discovered daily by philosophes and enlightenment thinkers which led to an abundance of theories. The barren, gray trees gave way to the brutal, icy gale. The wind blew with the wrath of a trapped boar. It cut through the skin of any who dared venture into it's fierce breath. This was in fact the usual plight of the residents living in Blóð, a city that resided in the outer regions of Harmr. But not every region of Harmr was this gelid. In fact, a little more than one–hundred miles away, in the heart of the Vrofisk Bluff, the environment was quite the opposite. The most important part is the categories of superpowers. It's one of the various ways to decide which superhero to be. Classifying superheroes by superpowers makes it easier to pick.
