2. Background Harold ‘Hype’ Williams is an American music video and film director of African-American and Honduran descent. Williams first displayed his work by tagging local billboards, storefronts, and playgrounds using HYPE as his graffiti tag. In the majority of his music videos he is working with Hip hop and RnB artists.

Signature style A signature style of Hype Williams is the use of black and white effects , he also uses central camera shots a lot to make the artist or actor more defined and noticeable, and further emphasizes them by using solid colour backgrounds, a lot of the time with bright colours. For exmple in Beyonce’s check on it video and Kanye West’s Gold digger video.
