- To meet the standard homework is essential. Missing homework is not an option. But if you do your part we’ll do ours.
- In addition to character writing homework, we’re asking that students spend a minimum of 60 solid minutes of listening each week as a minimum. Doing this will get them an A, 40 minutes a B, 20 minutes a C. A form that both students and parents sign will be turned in every 3-4 weeks.
- Moodle is able to record the amount of time a student spends on the computer. Theoretically we could monitor how much students are listening or not. But there are ways around this that any 4 th grader could figure out. Moreover it precludes a student from using a mobile device, which the majority of students have.
- These numbers a little arbitrary…not exact. But it gives a sense for the ratios and projection that we’re going for: more and more characters, smaller and smaller gap between speaking and listening, approaching literacy – 2500 characters to read the gist of a newspaper article, less emphasis on writing
