set, interrupts Priority and Management, Memory Management and paging. Introduction to
code warrior. Brief Introduction to Architecture of 32 bit ARM Processor- ARM Architecture
& Organization ARM Programming Model. 12Hrs
3. Bus Structure: Introduction to serial bus RS232, USB,I2C, CAN and Fire wire buses and their
protocols and application. 6Hrs
PART –B
1. Wireless protocols :
Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11, 802.15, 802.16, Introduction features, area of application.
Interface for IRDA and WEB enabling. 6Hrs
2. Embedded Software :
Software Architectures – Round – Robin, Round – Robin with interrupts, Function - Queue
Scheduling Architecture, Real time operating system Architecture. Introduction to RTOS –
Task and task states, Tasks and data, semaphore and shared data. Other OS service –
message queues, Mail boxes and pipes, Timer Functions, Events, Memory Management,
interrupt Routings in RTOS. Basic design using RTOS – Principles and an example,
Encapsulating semaphores and queues. Hard real-time scheduling consideration, Saving
Memory space and power. Embedded software development – Host and Target machines,
linker, prom Programmers, emulators and monitors. Debugging Techniques – Testing Host
machine, Instruction set simulators tools, Assert macro laboratory tolls. 12Hrs
3. Programming concepts and Embedded Programming :
Programming in assembly language and high language C/C++, source code engineering tools,
Program Modeling concept in single and multiprocessor system software, and software

3. Photonic Sources: Semi conduction material for photo devices, LEDs structure, Operation
quantum efficiency and power. Modulation of an LED , Laser diodes, Laser diode modes and
Threshold calculations, structures quantum efficiency , resonant frequencies single mode
lasers, Modulation of laser diodes. 7Hrs
4. Photonic Detectors : Principle of operation of a Photodiode, Noise in a PD, detector
response time, Avalanche PD, Structures of InGaAs APDs, Temperatures Effects and
Comparison of PDs. 6Hrs

1. Transmitters :
Analog and Digital transmitters, Schematics, LED and LD Driver Circuits for message
Modulation source to fiber power launching, Lansing Schemes for coupling. 4Hrs
2. Signal Degradation:
Attenuation, absorption, scattering and bending losses in core and cladding, distortion inter
and intra modal dispersion, Pulse broadening effect, measurement Standards and test
procedures. 6Hrs
3. Receivers:
Fundamental operation of analog and digital receivers, front end and Pre- amplifier stage
circuits, evaluation of probability of errors, Sensitivity in receivers. Analog receivers and SNR
