toad because its my
favorite animal.
3. Who Am I?
The American Toad are usually small.The
warts on a toad are not real wart’s they’re
just bumpy skin glands. Two places they
like to live are in forests and swamps.
4. The Early Years
When the American Toad is young it is
called a tadpole.The mother lays about
1,000 eggs.When the tadpole is inside its
egg it is smaller then the tip of a pencil.
5. Habitat Sweet Habitat
The American Toad lives under ground.It
usually comes out at night to eat.You can
find an American Toad in grassy areas with
water.The American Toad drinks through its
skin.
6. What’s On The Menu
The American Toad eats fly’s, crickets, snails,
moths,and worms.The American Toad only eats in
the summer because it hibernates in the
winter.Before it hibernates it has to stuff its self
with food for the long winter months.

The American Toads tracks are vary small.
You can find their tracks near ponds,
grasslands, lakes, and rivers.

The American toad has lots of warts on its
back. It catches its food with its tongue.
The American toad lives on land and water.
One enemy is the snake. The male
American toad puffs out its throat to make a
mating call.

The American toad is found in North
America usually in North Dakota, South
Dakota and Minnesota. The American Toad
likes places where its warm. It cant move
places very fast to the warm places so in the
winter it has to hibernate.
10. Did You Know?
When a toad is in a egg its as small as a pencil tip.
When its winter it burrows into the ground 3 feet
down.
The toad can see under water with out closing its
eyes.
If the toad is big enough it can jump 1 foot.
