• Career management is defined as the ongoing process
of preparing, implementing and monitoring career
plans.
• It can be undertaken either by the individual alone or
can be a concerted activity along with the
organisation’s career systems.

to motivate employees to plan their careers
can result in:
– a shortage of employees to fill open positions
– lower employee commitment
– inappropriate use of funds allocated for training
and development programs
