Adventures of Tom Sawyer». It wasAdventures of Tom Sawyer». It was
written by Mark Twain. This book is verywritten by Mark Twain. This book is very
popular in Russia because it is apopular in Russia because it is a very
interesting book for many boys and girls.
They believe that the inventor and
mischievous Tom Sawyer lived in reality
and everything that had happened to him
is the truth.
I read this book in two languages :
English and Russian .
The book is written in the genre of
adventure novel. Twain published this
story in 1876. When it came out, its
success has exceeded all expectations.
It is worth mentioning that the prototype
of the hero became a writer himself.
3. WHAT IS ABOUT MARK TWAIN?WHAT IS ABOUT MARK TWAIN?
Samuel Clemens
(Mark Twain) was born
in 1835 in Missouri.
The name of Mark
Twain is known
throughout the world.
The writer himself
chose the name as
a writer Mark Twain
4. WHAT IS BOOK ABOUT?WHAT IS BOOK ABOUT?
• The plot of the novel is everyday life of a small town of the
American South before the Civil War. The protagonist of
the work is a naughty boy Tom Sawyer and his friends:
Huckleberry Finn, beautiful Becky and terrible and cruel
Injun Joe, good-natured Aunt Polly, and many others.
• Like all boys of that age, Tom and Huck do not really want
to go to school, where severe teachers punish severely
delinquent student, because in those days physical
punishment was still permitted. Tom is a wonderful
storyteller, and he so excitedly and selflessly told lies that
even Aunt Polly believed him, not like other boys of the
same age.
• The boys are looking for adventure that are waiting for
them at every turn. Poor Aunt Polly does not have time to
follow these pranksters. They are always in motion,
always come up with some stories and get into different
situations, which are sometimes so difficult to get out of.
• I think that the main idea of the work is friendship and
loyalty. The author says that the main qualities of a good
man are kindness, bravery, courage, ingenuity and
determination.
5. CHARACTERESCHARACTERES
Tom,Huck,Becky,Injun Joe,
Aunt Polli, Sid, Jim,Mr.Jones...
The heroes in this book are all
very real. They seem to live
close to you and you feel that
you live the life of a small town
where there is so much
interesting to do.
6. MAIN
CHARACTERS
Tom and Huck
(I like them very much)
• Tom and Huck have fun: play,
swim, catch tasty fish, devour
tortoise eggs, indulge in
luxurious vices like smoking
pipes made from maize.
• Tom was a great mischievous
child and a swindler .In school,
in order to disrupt the lesson
and be thrown out of the class,
he came up with different jokes
and the whole class burst into
laughter.
8. YES! SHE IS BECKY!YES! SHE IS BECKY!
Becky is my favorite character
in the book, and I want to be
like her. She is smart and fair,
but at the same time, she has a
lot of dreams, and is very kind.
Tom falls in love with her at the
moment when he sees her for
the first time. She constantly
quarrels with Tom.
Tom and Becky reconciled after
Tom had saved Becky from the
punishment from the teacher
for the broken book.
One of my favorite scenes of
the book is a story about how
Tom and Becky were lost in the
cave. Tom showed himself a
real hero.

You will be gone in this book with
her feeling of the childhood, with its
enthusiastic opening, with her
curiosity and interest in the world,
with its new view on usual things.
10. Why do I recommend this book?
As we know, a large part of the adventure
which happen in this book, is taken
from life and experienced by the author
himself or by the boys who studied with
him at school.
