4. On the 21st of November, Zimbabwe’s
president Robert Mugabe resigned
after 37 years of being in power.
Mugabe was leader of Zimbabwe
from 1980-2017. He was first Prime
Minister of the country for 7 years
then became president in 1987. During
Mugabe’s last years of being in power
the people of his country were unsure
what direction he had for his country.
He was able to free Zimbabwe from
colonialism and white minority rule
but built a dictatorship and his people
were not happy about this. It was not
easy to make him resign from power
as they had to use a military interven-
tion and an impeachment before he
stepped down as president.

On the 6th of November another mass
shooting rocked the United States
just over a month after a gunman in
Las Vegas killed nearly 59 people. At
least 26 people were killed in the mass
shooting after a gunman stormed into
a US church and set a fire off in the
church.
The gunman also took his own life
after a shootout with the residents.
The gunman was a part of the military
but was kicked out after assaulting
his wife and child. The attacker was
wearing combat gear. This attack
happened in Texas, Sutherland Spring
at a Baptist Church - the gunman

would not come out of power until the
day he died. Zimbabwe are now set for
a new era with a new president. Em-
merson Mnangagwa was the former
vice-president of Zimbabwe and says
he is leading Zimbabwe to a “new and
unfolding democracy”. He is believed
to be the “crocodile who snapped
back”.
The people of Zimbabwe are happy
about the new president but are ques-
tioning his power. In the 1980s the
new president was minister of justice
and was accused of involvement in
the killing of more than 20,000 people
in Zimbabwe. Robert Mugabe is set
to receive $10m dollars as part of the
negotiation made before his resigna-
tion. The state will pay off Mugabe and
his wife’s medical care, domestic staff,
security and foreign travel. For some
he will remain a hero as he was able
to bring independence to his country,
some blamed his wife and criminals
around him for turning into a bad per-
son. He destroyed his country to keep
his job as president. Mugabe believed
“only God” could remove his from his
office.
In the 2008 elections Mugabe said
“if you lose an election and are re-
jected by the people, it’s time to leave
politics”. Robert Mugabe came second
in the elections but then the other
party leader Morgan Tsvangirai pulled
out in the second round and Mugabe
remained president. Mugabe was able
to win the 2013 elections as well.

5. Prince Henry of Wales well known as
Prince Harry younger son of Prince
Charles and Princess Diana is set
to marry in May. We will yet again
witness another royal wedding. On
Monday 27th November, Harry and
wife to be Meghan announced they
are engaged and will be getting mar-
ried. The British public seemed to be
divided with happiness and confu-
sion as Harry isn’t marrying someone
British but American. Prince Harry
and Meghan are to get married in St
George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Although Meghan Markle is an
American she will become a British
citizen and will be baptised before the
wedding. Its set that the royal family
will be paying for the wedding, the
music, flower and reception but the
public will be paying for security and
policing.

WAR CHEIF DIES AFTER
DRINKING POISION
A former Bosnian-Croat general
died after drinking poison in court.
He committed a crime as was to be
sentenced to 20 years. Seconds after
the judges delivered their decision
Slobodan Praljak shouted “I am not
a criminal. I reject your verdict”. He
then drank a brown substance while
looking at the camera, he announced
to the judges that he was drinking
poison and the curtains screening the
courtroom were closed to the public.
Minutes later an ambulance arrived
to the scene and Praljak was taken to
hospital but was declared dead a few
hours later.
The people of The Hague in Neth-
erlands are opening an investigation
to find out who supplied him with the
poison and how he was able to smug-

gle it into court. Dutch police
have declared the courtroom a
crime scene. Slobodan Praljak
was charged with ordering the
destruction of Mostar 16th-cen-
tury Bridge in November 1993.
Meghan is an American actor best
known for her role in Suits. Not
only is she an actress she is a writ-
er, editor-in-chief, cook and cam-
paigner. Meghan grew up in Los
Angeles but has recently moved to
Toronto. Harry and Meghan aim
to make the public feel involved
and apart of the celebration. She
is from a mixed heritage - her
mother being black and father
white.
Meghan was once married
but divorced in 2016. Meghan
Markle’s belongings are being
moved from Canada to Kens-
ington Palace as this is where
she will be living. She described the
engagement as a transition “out of my
career, but into the role”. The Prince
seems thrilled and I wish them all the

hether it’s that gorgeous pair of ripped skinny, boyfriend
or mom denim jeans, distressed denim has returned
home from the 80s and flooded the A-list fashion trends
of 2017. Nowadays coming across an unripped pair of jeans is just as
rare as seeing Kanye West smile for a paparazzi picture.
But the question we should be asking ourselves are, ‘why is ev-
eryone wearing ripped jeans?’ or ‘what has brought back the 80s/90s
look?’ this famous and controversial fashion trend has taken over the
fashion industry completely! The trend has affected everyone and
anyone, we cannot escape it. We are constantly on our daily news and
social media gawking at high-profile celebrities and models rocking
our world by embracing the retro revival with the finest ripped de-
signer jeans exposing their million dollar legs. We go about our daily
lifestyle by entering the streets of London where we see hundreds
and thousands of people wearing ripped jeans regardless of their age,
occupation or gender; this unisex trend has influenced both men and
women.
If you own a pair of ripped jeans, chances are, you’re pretty cool.
Studies also show that wearing ripped jeans gives the illusion that
the owner of the jeans gives out a rebellious, laid back and shabby
look. Not since the 80s punk rock/ grunge era, has the “Distress to
impress” trend been this popular to wear jeans that look like they’ve
been through a shredder, but then it hit me. We’re a generation
that’s all about the 80s and 90s. What we witness on our screens and
hear through our ears all contain little noticeable fragments of the
80s. Don’t believe me? Just look at your TV screens: The Goldbergs,
Stranger Things and the epic season three of Black Mirror all repre-
sent the mise en scene from the 1980s, some of 2016/2017 music also
takes us back to the crazy 80s for example, Taylor Swift debut album
‘1989’ released in 2014 contain some 80s-radio-friendly tracks.
Bruno Mars loves himself some 80s funk-pop with his recent singles
track ‘Uptown Funk and 24K magic’ we just can’t get enough of the
80s. Last but certainly not least, FASHION! Ripped jeans, chokers,
dungarees, extremely oversized hooped earrings, crops tops, and fur,
and so on. You get it.

TTENTION! trend–setters or trend–followers wherever you
are in the world here’s some facts about the 80s grunge style
you probably didn’t know existed. There are three main types
of cuts on regular ripped jeans. Weird right? You would have thought
Edward Scissors Hands crafted each and every tear, I’m afraid that’s
not the case. The first method is called the “Hole” it is where the
garment is ripped which creates a visible window for skin exposure
through the fabric. It is also often found on the knee or thighs of the
denim. The “Shred” is the second method the denim industry
uses on distressed jeans. It has the size of a 10 pence coin.
The ‘shredding’ of the denim is where the denim is ripped
but the threads of the fabric remain in intact. Okay. Still with
me? Cool, onto the next. The last method they use is called
‘scrapes’; It is small abrasions or scratches created on the sur-
face of the denim to enhance the age of the denim and give it
the illusion that it is older than it actually it.

of Western nations to the alliances that bind us.”
May also stressed the need to increase relations with
Russia to dodge a return to the Cold War, saying

In a short but affective response the The Ministry
of Foreign Affairs posted a picture of the British
Prime Minister; Theresa May drinking a glass of
red wine on twitter and captioned it saying “hoped
one day you will try” Crimean Massandra red wine
– this may be a possible reference to its invasion of
Ukraine.
Only days after May launched her surprising attack
on Russia, Putin came out with allegations several
days after. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has
accused prominent British businessman Bill Browder
of being a “serial killer”.
Putin has yet to make a direct response to Prime
minister May. If Putin ever misled himself that his
campaign of hacks, deception, concealed political
donations and other ploys was going to allow him to
mould the western political agenda, he ought now to
be having second thoughts.

n a time where she is seen as a weak individual,
Theresa May has launched an attack on the Rus-
sian Electoral. She made accusations, saying that
the Russian electoral are “meddling”. She even went
as far to accuse Moscow of “seeking to weaponise
information” by using national media to spread false
news.
The comments clearly contrast with the “fake news”
mascot; Donald Trump, who said on the 11th of
November that he believed Vladimir Putin’s word
that Russia had not interfered or tampered in the US
presidential election. Theresa May initially wanted
a close alliance with Mr Trump, as all great leaders
form a great alliance, but both of them are barely in a
fit state to lead a nation , however following domestic
criticism, Theresa May has appeared more critical of
the US president in recent months.
The UK prime minister’s intervention comes at a
time when opposition of the government are ques-
tioning whether Russia was involved in the Brexit
vote.
She told the annual Lord Mayor’s banquet in London
as well as the rest of the world, saying “We know
what you are doing. And you will not succeed.”

Since then Putin has nothing to say about the British prime minister’s com-
ments. Instead he has been pre-occupied by the ongoing war in the middle
east, he has recently met with Bashar Al-Assad.
What about Putin?
O
N the 22 of November, the budget was pre-
sented by the chancellor; Phillip Hammond
to Parliament. An extra £3 billion to prepare
for Brexit over the next two years. The money will
make sure the government is ready on day 1 of exit.
It will include funding to prepare the border, the
future immigration system and new trade relation-
ships. Regarding health the government promised
an additional £2.8bn in funding over the next three
years, including £350m that would be given imme-
diately to allow trusts to plan for winter season. An
additional £1.6bn will be allocated in 2018-19, with
the balance in 2019-20. The chancellor presented it
as an excellent move to help the service cope with an

elderly portion of the population and technological
developments.
In terms of housing, £44bn would be used in overall
government support for housing to meet target of
building 300,000 new homes a year by the middle of
the next decade. Furthermore Councils will be given
powers to charge 100% council tax premium on
empty properties.
The National Living Wage for those aged 25 and over
will increase from £7.50 per hour to £7.83 per hour
from April 2018. Just above 2 million people are ex-
pected to benefit from this. On the other hand for a
full-time worker, it represents a pay rise of over £600
a year.

FTER the failure of achieving a ma-
jority, the tory party piles even more
pressure on the Prime Minister, thus
leading to the agreement between the two.
Prime minister May and EU Commission
President Jean-Claude Juncker have agreed
to “accelerate” Brexit negotiations - however
there was no sign of a breakthrough after
their dinner together. Ahead of the Europe-
an council summit, Theresa May spoke to
the French and German leaders. The EU’s
chief negotiator Michel Barnier and Brexit
Secretary David Davis, also joined the work-
ing dinner. One can only think that Theresa
May wants to speed up the process in order
to secure her parties interest before it’s too
late. Prime Minister Theresa May is expected
to outline Britain’s stance on key issues in a
speech on Friday. The PM has travelled to
Italy with an assurance that the UK will con-
tinue to pay into the EU until the end of the
current budget round in 2020, guaranteeing it
is not left with a black hole in the finances. It
is no surprise that both side want to speed up
the process especially Theresa may, the PMs
own party are piling up the pressure on her
alone, as well as the opposition. According to
a German newspaper Frankfurter Allge-
meine Zeitung, an EU leaker said “The prime
minister appeared anxious, despondent and
discouraged” and had “deep rings” under her
eyes due to the “enemies at her neck, waiting
for her to fall”. After her return to parliament
she received a wide range of good old British
bashing from the opposition.
Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the opposition
party, labour, has said he has “a worrying
sense of Groundhog Day” he goes on to say
“Every time she gives us an update on the
progress of negotiations... only two weeks
ago she told this House that her speech in
Florence had put momentum in the Article 5o
negotiations and that an agreement of phase
one of these talks was in touching distance.
“Well, here we are again,” Corbyn added.
Corbyn proceeded in saying “After anoth-
er round of talks, we are still no clearer as to
when negotiations on our future with Britain’s
largest trading partner will actually begin, and
no clearer as to what she’s actually agreed to in
phase one of these talks.”
After five rounds of negotiations on
Brexit, the EU remains adamant: there will be
no discussions with the UK on a transition
period, or on future relations, until financial
commitments have been clear.

I
decided to cut my hair because I felt
that it was time to. It was unhealthy and
pretty much dead. So let’s start from the
beginning.
I was born with natural afro kinky 4c type
of hair, i don’t really remember much of my
natural hair because my hair was *relaxed
at such a young age. However, what i do
remember is crying at the thought of getting
my hair combed and parted into three pigtails
and crying even harder when it was actually
being done. Me being *tender-headed made
it hard for my mum and i to do my hair so
she decided to relax my hair at the age of 6.
And the sum of (My tender-Headedness + my
mum’s heavy handedness x the pain = Hair
Relaxer).
As i got older, I saw what the relaxer was
doing to my hair i slightly became obsessed
with it because my hair was longer,thinner
and it looked like *‘White People Hair’ and i
was loving it. So i would constantly request
form my hair to be re-touched with the relax-
er because my hair ‘neede it’. Not only was
i damaging my hair but i was damaging my
mind too. I thought relaxing my hair was the
best thing i could do.
As the years went on i continued to style
{damage} my relaxed hair with a variety of
products and sealing it in with hair straighten-
ers. Religiously following this method put me
in a position where i basically had no choice,
but to cut my hair.
Fast Forward, just over 10 years from
where the hair damaging had begun, i did the
big chop.
I cut my Thursday 24th August 2017
00:23 am. I remember so vividly because it
was an event and an emotional one at that. I

After releasing his album “Birds In The
Trap Sing McKnight” which reached
number one on the US Billboard 200 charts
and on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, he
is releasing a new album which is going to be
titled “Astro World”. There is not a single date
that Travis has hinted on the official releasing
of the Astro World album but, there have been
plently of snippets of him working with the
likes of Qauvo, Young Thug and Smokepurrp
(Lil Purp) who has recently been signed to
Travis Scott’s new and first label Cactus Jack.
There is much to be expected as Scott has
been seen working with such big names for
this album to go wrong. Travis has released
four albums where we have seen how he has
grown and become a much better artist.
If Travis Scott were to release Astro World, it
would be a good way to end a great year for
him, as he has achieved so much, from selling
out two back to back show in London’s Brix-
ton Academy and to creating his own record
label. If Travis does not give us Astro World
this year, we hope to think he will release the
mixtape that Qauvo and him have been seen
working on. This is definitely not a shocker to
us, as we have seen plenty of videos and pho-
tos of Travis and Migos together hinting at the
projects release but, it is also still unknown
when this tape will be released.

name Travis Scott, from Houston, Texas.Scott
from a young age was able to write songs, rap,
and produce records. He would later evolve
his career by adding the singing element to his
music.
We have seen him do this from his early
tracks like: ‘16 Chapels’ and ‘Love Sick’; ‘Love
Sick’ was initially the song which got him rec-
ognised by Kanye West and his GOOD Music
label. He signed his first major-label deal with
Epic Records in 2012. In the same year in No-
vember, Scott had signed a deal with Kanye
West’s label GOOD Music, to help on the pro-
duction side of ‘Very GOOD Beats’ after help-
ing out on the label’s 2012 complication album
Cruel Summer.The followingyear, he would
announce his signing to T.I’s Grand Hustle Im-

Both of his packed and sold out shows at the
Brixton Academy were packed full of excite-
ment and rage and I was to experience the full
effect of it. I had attended the ‘Night show’ as
Travis calls and at first, was not ready as this
was my first official concert in the pit of death,
known as the standing section…
It was packed and only 30 minutes in and
groups of people were already beginning
to feel the heat of the arena. I myself was
beginning to tire and grow bored as there
was no opening act and the same music was
being played, while the crowd were screaming
out Jeremy Corbyn chants. We were first let
in around 7pm, to then wait 2hours and 30
minutes till Travis would official come, but it
was completely worth the wait.
Travis Scott has also showed off his new col-
laboration with the brand, Nike. The new Nike
shoes have been given the name “Air Force
One Lows (Low top)” and they will be avail-
able to the public on December the 5th,10:03
ET for $150, which would be around £110 for
UK buyers.

The ‘Common Sense Tour has
lunched and the ‘Did You See’ rapper
is ready to bring the heat to the stage.
J Hus is set perform at a number
of venues and locations around the
United Kingdom. J Hus released his
chart topping debut album, ‘Com-
mon Sense’ in May of this year and
prior to that has already had a big
impact on the UK’s music scene and
the music industry itself.
Following the massive
impact he has made, he
had released of number
of European tour dates!
The European dates in-
cluded Amsterdam, Par-
is, Brussels, Copenhagen
and plenty of places in
Europe.
The first show was
Brixton, which Gabrielle
Asamoah attended. He
hasn’t yet finished his
tour, but it is coming to
a close. He only has a few concerts
left to finally bring the tour to a close;
he has a concert this Thursday which
also have Giggs, Dizzie, Cardi B, Steff
London and Bugzy Malone at the
famous arena of Alexander Palace in
London. He will then be performing
in Norwich on Wednesday the 9th of

This week, the story of Cyntoia Brown

ew interest is unclear, however what we do
know is that former child sex slave Cyn-
toia Brown was 16 years old when she was
sentenced to life in prison with no chance of
parole until she is 69 years old for the murder
of 43–year-old Johnny Allen who bought her
for sex In 2004. She has already served 13
years at the Tennessee Prison for Women.

which resulted the same post to later be
shared by Kim Kardashian West, Cara De-
levigne, Snoop Dogg and other celebrities
along with activists and journalists, who
questioned why a 16-year-old girl involved
in prostitution was sentenced to life impris-
onment.

A ugust 6th 2004 was a day that changed
Cyntoia Browns life forever, Cyntoia worked
and lived with 24-year-old drug dealer called
Garion “Kutthroat” McGlothen who forced
Cyntoia into prostitution. One night, when
Brown was sent to work as a child prosti-
tute she was picked up by “a man in a white
truck” outside a Nashville fast-food restau-
rant.

Mr Allen has taken her to his house for sex
when the fatal incident happened, during the
night Allen had allegedly made unwanted
sexual advances towards her, and Brown’s
testimony had said Allen was reaching for
something and she said she thought he was
“reaching for a gun” then panicked and
reached for the pistol in her bag given to her
by “Kutthroat” for protection and fatally shot
and killed Johnny Allen.
Her lawyers argued that she shot Mr Allen
in self- defence. She then took two guns,
money out of his wallet and car and drove to
a Walmart parking lot where she was pick up

In 2006 Cyntoia Brown was charged as an
adult with first degree murder, felony mur-
der and aggravated robbery
Growing up Cyntoia Brown had a very hard
childhood, she comes from three genera-
tions of physical, mental and sexual abuse,
Brown was diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome Disorder in 2012 and her former
“unfit” biological mother Georgia Mitchell
gave her up for adoption when she was two
years old and was later adopted by substitute
teacher, Ellenette Brown.
After much speculation and two shock
albums that massively influenced the rumour
that Jay-Z cheating or cheated on his wife of

How many Calories are
in a christmas dinner?
That’s why we eat Christmas dinner
sandwiches for five weeks ahead of
the big day, just so we can remember
how good all those trimmings taste.
But that deliciousness comes a cost.
And quite a hefty one at that. Because
according to new research, you’d
have to run two marathons to work
off the traditional Christmas dinner.
Looking at the habits of 1,000 peo-
ple, the study by Forza Supplements
found that the average person eats
up to 5,241 calories on 25 December,
when snacks and alcohol are added
in. And to burn all that, you’d have to
run 52 miles – burning 2,600 calo-
ries over a 26.2-mile course. But if
double marathons aren’t your thing,
you could also hit the gm for nine
hours straight – burning
590 calories an hour in the
weights room and on the
treadmill. On average, we put
on 4lbs between Christmas
Eve and New Year’s Day after
consuming twice our recom-
mended calorie intake and
it takes until Easter to undo
that ‘damage’. ‘The problem
most dieters have is they tend
to “write off” Christmas and
go right over the top – not
just on Christmas dinner but all the
endless nibbles which are brought out
between meals,’ says Lee Smith, Forza
Supplements managing director. ‘We
all want to have fun at Christmas
but the best way to maintain a bit
of discipline is to look at the hours
or exercise you will have to carry
